Ughhhh I seriously need to find a new market. I've been coming to Lidl since they first opened because of their convenient location. But every time I return, there's always an issue...or two, or three. On my most recent visit there were no shopping carts, no baskets, not even a shopping bag....how am I supposed to shop if there's nothing to put my items in?! To top it all off, their inventory was so low that there were empty shelves. So frustrating! I grabbed two items and just left. What a waste of time. Note to management: please improve!! read more

This is a new Lidl in town for me even though its been around for a while. I am glad that LIDl came here. This is a big-bright-spacious store with wide isles and plenty to choose from. They clearly take many steps to bring you as much food as they can at the best prices they can. Great food selection, service from their very helpful team members. We've been here a couple of times now and managed to buy a fair amount of groceries. Remember... This is not your King Kullen or Stop & Shop. It is not the place to come for all your name brand items. This is how they're different. They move a lot of product here. Very simply displayed. They also have nice wide isles. Makes it easy to move around This is not a flashy store. Works for me... Less glitz more value pricing. In some cases, they cut the box and put it on a shelf. Again, just another way to save us some money on our grocery bills. They also have a very comprehensive supply of meats here too. There are no butchers, fish counters or bakeries here. All the food is packaged in refrigerators and freezers. Most brands are house brands, hence the ability to save some money on your shopping bills. Bakery items are all packaged. Remember to bring your own bags, they are not supplied by LIDL I think they'll do well as people become accustomed to their methodology and I definitely recommend this store. I'm very thankful for this store! While they don't carry everything I need, they do have several items I regularly buy, which saves me from having to drive a mile away. I usually purchase flowers, organic avocados, and ready-to-eat salad packages. I also buy vegetables here, though I do wish they offered more organic options. They have a bakery, offers various bread options, I wish they had a bread slicer! Many times they have employees working on the floors if you need help finding anything, they will help you! read more

This was my first time shopping here, and I would come back again, but I think the place definitely needs some fixing up. They have plenty of items, good pricing, and a lot of variety. However, the produce section was messy broken items, empty shelves, and water spilled on the floor. Once you get past that and start going up and down the aisles, they actually have a pretty decent selection. Overall, not a bad experience, but the store could really use better organization and maintenance. read more

I went in to the store for sleeves of seltzer, which ended up being too heavy for me after I realized I didn't get a cart. I asked the cashier if there might be a cart available because I wasn't able to carry it out. The cashier and another employee looked at me like I had three heads. Out of nowhere, Phil came over and asked if there's anything he could do. He unpacked the cart that was right next to the cashier-it had only two grocery items in it and he gave it to me. Pretty much the same as other Lidl stores. However, this location feels a bit tighter space-wise. Lidl is different than the typical supermarket and fills a niche. Some of their store brand products are pretty good and decently priced. The cashier was polite and the wait to pay minimal. read more

A new market just opened up in my neighborhood. Ever eager to check out a new market while it has the "new car smell", the kids and I head into Lidl... Ambience: we were a bit underwhelmed. most of the goods are displayed within boxes on shelves? The deli meats are pre sliced and packaged. Almost a third of the store is dedicated to selling seasonal non food items. Selection: the selection of items seems much more limited than other markets. New Lidl location now open in New Hyde Park. Luckily it wasn't packed when I was there the 2nd weekend after it opened. Lots of items similar to the other locations and some different ones as well. Always nice to see what each of the locations have. Convenient to have another location open as well. Prices are comparable - some items less than the other locations and some may be slightly higher. Easy to shop here when in the area than having to travel to the other locations. Ample parking as it's a shared lot across all the other stores in the area. Checkout was quick as the line wasn't too long..surprisingly. Remember your Lidl card or sign up for one for additional savings. If you forgot to bring a reusable shopping bag, they sell them at check out too. read more

Lidl is a discount grocer that places heavy emphasis on its own private label brands; similar to the Aldi supermarket chain. Everything I bought here is old and many bad and all fruits and veggies go bad in one or two days. Imagine a food store with no parsley...ever! Expiration dates on all the other stuff is either super close OR some things have no expiration date at all....The place is filthy and the boxes with whatever bacteria they picked up during transportation are on the shelves full of product!!! Okay, word to the wise, be very careful as you shop the store. Many items do not match the signs posted. Today was very confusing. The potatoes signed as $3.98 per lb came up as $6.98 per lb. My wife noticed the discrepancy when reviewing the receipt. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT WHEN SHOPPING HERE. I gave this Lidl location 4 stars due to the fact that when they carry something good, it's outstanding! Quality and taste of many of the private brands they carry are actually better than the brand names you'll find at a typical supermarket. I noticed that they don't have a large selection of low-fat of sugar-free ice cream, deli meat is pre-sliced ready to grab and go, most of the seafood is sold frozen. They don't carry any sugar-free syrup for pancakes or have a variety of sugar-free cookies. They carry the basic food items, so if you're looking for dietary items, it's hard to find that here. PLEASE CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! Prices on the shelves are not matching prices when being scanned at checkout. I'm there every week haggling with a manager over price discrepancies on my receipt! Very annoying! Another thing I'm noticing all the good stuff I keep looking for whether it's on special, or something I'm interesting in finding, they never are able to keep in stock! They had a special on strawberries for $1.79 one weekend, but never found them when I arrived. Shelves were entirely wiped out and they don't offer any kind of rainchecks, I asked management. So I don't always finish my grocery shopping list when leaving the store due to things being out of stock! Other items I keep going back to see if they get in stock but never see: frozen boxed Japanese Gyoza, multi purpose copy paper (was never available!), low-fat mayonnaise, unscented cat litter (they only carry scented, most cats hate anything scented), pecorino cheese (they had it for like one day and I never saw it again!), etc. Because they give their own coupons on top of their already low prices, I was told they don't accept any kinds of manufacturer's coupons. read more

I love this Lidl location and have completely switched over from weekly food shopping at other branded supermarkets to save money. Yes, Lidl does not carry everything other stores do. But they do have the essentials which- when you're trying to save money- is really all you need. I've even found some food items I especially love- like the frozen thin crust margherita pizza. Everything they sell is a pretty good dupe- I've yet to get something I don't like- taste or quality wise here. I appreciate that they offer coupons AND rewards (through the app). If you're looking for a way to cut some costs, definitely check out Lidl. I knocked off one star because you can't count on certain items always being there. I got Beyond Meat one time and haven't see it since. But those tiny shopping carts for kids though! So cute! First of this location is in GARDEN CITY PARK not New Hyde Park. The new location has a big parking lot. I love lidl because of the affordable prices and good quality food. They have everything that the West Hempstead location has which is perfect for me. It can get crowded just an FYI. They need more registers because the lines get so long in this location. I did a whole grocery shop for $100 and they give coupons which helps. The only thing I wish lidl has is a deli section that cute fresh cold cuts! Omg you have to try their bakery items. They are so good!! The vanilla chocolate twist things are to die for. So good!! The staff has always been nice when I was there. The layout is a little weird. 2nd time my wife and I have shopped here. With the exception of one gentleman who took the time to walk me to an aisle to find a product, the customer service is, overall, horrible! My wife downloaded the Lidl app and we we were going to use it at the register. However, when she tried to login, it said skip this step. Accordingly, we asked the person at the register for help. He ignored us and just told us we need to sign in. Not a very helpful attitude. We won't be coming back or recommending Lidl's. read more

Grand Opening was a DISASTER! First of all, they advertised the grand opening started at 8:00am and the first 100 customers would get a free gift card. So the average person would think the first 100 people who took the time to actually stand on an organized line would receive the gift cards as we entered the store as customers at 8:00am. Apparently, there was another location, maybe under the tent where they were giving away tote bags and pens, where they already distributed the 100 gift cards before 7:00am! Therefore, those people who were given the gift cards were able to leave while us fools were led to believe we were the first 100 standing on line since 7:00am. Or ... did they even give out 100 gift cards??? Totally unorganized, poor communication and a waste of time to fall for their ploy of a free gift card just to get you there. Secondly, upon checking out, I noticed I was not charged the advertised grand opening special prices. Yes, I used my Lidl app if that even matters. Upon complaining to management ... are you ready for this .... they noticed the address printed on the receipt was for their Charlotte, NC store!!!! So, the cash registers were programmed to charge their Charlotte prices, NOT the advertised grand opening prices for this store in Garden City Park, NY! Wow, what a major blunder for a grand opening!! Imagine all the customers who got ripped off if they didn't check their receipt like I did. Everyone was buying the "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" bakery and bread items because they were on sale. Some items rang up as sale prices because all stores nationwide had the sale in the computer system, but the special grand opening sales for this store did not ring up. I was given a refund for the difference after waiting a good half hour for someone to take action while upper management stood against the front wall with their arms crossed just observing everything and talking amongst themselves even though they knew there was an issue. Thirdly, the food truck giving away free coffee, juice and croissants was poorly stocked! They ran out of croissants and said "they're coming from the store's bakery". OK, so we waited a good 10 minutes until someone came from inside the store and said it will be another 20 minutes. And the one coffee pot was brewing "fresh coffee" with a 20-minute wait. Seriously, did they not plan to have a large crowd for their big celebration?? I didn't need a free croissant and coffee that badly, it would have been nice if we were told how long the wait was as soon as they ran out. Overall, not impressed. I had high hopes to have a better Lidl store than the one that is closer to where I live, but they all have issues. And prices are not consistent from store to store. I've been paying $1.65 for milk at my town's location and this one was $3.65. When my store first opened there were complaints about egg and milk prices not being the same as yet another location and Lidl's response was they price according to financial statistics in each store's zip code.
