I've pass through this restaurant so many times. And it never looks crowded, but finally last weekend I decided to give it a try since I was craving pizza, and boy I'm glad I gave it a chance. It may look small from the outside, but it's spacious in the inside. The ambience it's perfect for a quiet meal, date or celebration. You get great customer service, great food, great wine. Best pizza in the Valley so far!! My husband and I were craving a good pizza and we were debating of which place to get it from. We were so glad we chose Lido! The cheese garlic bread with dipping sauce was amazing, it was buttery, crunch and with a generous layer of melted cheese. The pizza however was the star of the night. The toppings came in good quantity, and they made a perfect balance with the crust, which was also crunchy and chewey at the same time. Make sure to get the Super Deluxe. Medium size was enough for 2 people. I think it can feed 3, if you get the starter. You will not regret!! read more

Had integrity serving the patrons who dined there. The food now is packaged/ pre-made. The pizza dough comes from a factory. Nothing! Is made fresh in the kitchen any longer. Lido Van Nuys STOP patronizing this place. The owners Cici's have not put a fresh coat of paint inside and outside since 1960s. I stopped going there about two years ago, after twenty years of patronage. I broke down at the request of friends yesterday. What an embarrassment. The front signage is weathered, broken and barely operational. I don't think the walls, or decor have been cleaned in years. The curtains are full of grease and torn. The food use to be good. I used to love this place years ago. The spaghetti used to be my favorite. We went here on Valentine's Day and we were really disappointed. The service was really bad. When they brought out the spaghetti it was sitting in a puddle of water, as if they didn't drain it when putting it on the plate. That in turn completely watered down the sauce. It took a really long time to flag down a waitress to come over when I showed it to her her reply was "yeah, that doesn't look right" we ended up getting a new one, but by that time I was ready to go home. read more

Been going here since I was a young kid. Classic old school Italian restaurant decor with the dim lights and red everything. Food is always delicious, one of my favorite pizza spots. Try the spicy sauce if you like a bit of heat. My only gripe is that their prices have gotten super inflated as of late and a large pizza with 2 toppings is over $30. Being from NY I can't say this is NY style, it's not.What it is, It's a glorious crust covered with toppings, covered with cheese and baked to perfection. I ashamedly have been eating this delicious pizza for over 25 of it's 50? year existence. Not only is the pizza delicious but the antipasto salad is mouth watering. lettuce heaped high with salami, pepperoni, cheese, onions and more, the simple red wine vinegarette is perfect for this salad. Lidos USED to be the best place to go for some good Italian food. Not anymore! I used to live in Van Nuys, that's how we found Lidos. Now we're in Hollywood and decided to drive out to Lidos. We ordered a pizza, lasagna and fettuccini. Pizza was ok, lasagna wasn't anything like before and the fettuccini was awful and dry. Then they threw a huge, burned sausage on top that made the t taste even worse. Went here because it was featured in the movie booksmart. I recognize it because i pass this place all the time and decided that i had to try it. They did not disappoint. I did take out but i would think that the pizza would even taste better if you did dine in. They brought the pizza to my car and I didn't have to get out which was a bonus. Walked in and got seated right away. After 24 min,my boyfriend and I walked out. No one came over to us at all or even brought us waters. A waitress went to the table before us a few times and didn't even turn or acknowledged us. No one came to tell us "we'll be right with you" or anything! Lido's pizza, part of the Chi-Chi's family, has been in the San Fernando Valley at this location since, what seems like, the dawn of time. We've been there a handful of times and order pizza from it as well through door dash and think the food is generally pretty good. You don't get much more San Fernando Valley old school then walking in to Lido's, even on the night we went, a Friday night in the rain which was as crowded as it could be. We also have enjoyed previously there curbside pick up, or actually there in parking lot pick up where you can order your food in advance, driving to the parking lot into a designated spot, call them, and they'll bring out your food as well as the credit card machine to charge you. At least that was great until they showed up on DoorDash which allows us to order from them without actually having to leave the house. Yay America! If you're looking for classic Italian food served with generous portions found this is the place for you. They had house-made pastas, including a gluten-free pasta, and gluten-free pizza down if that's your desire. I was really in the mood for a classic dish and got myself spaghetti with meatless red sauce. It had good flavor and the portion was generous. Though the pasta itself was slightly undercooked... A little more al dente then I would have liked it, which is a new experience for me with house-made pasta which I usually find to be pretty fresh. My wife ordered pasta Primavera with their gluten-free pasta. She thought everything was overcooked including the pastor and the vegetables. She felt it needed some kind of fatty elements such as oil or more butter or something. She was disappointed. Our 10-year-old add plain spring-shaped pasta which he liked a lot. The sourdough dinner rolls were awesome and especially good with the butter they came with. I also got myself a glass of the house Chianti which was good and very generously poured. We also ordered a cheese pizza, medium sized so my kid and I could enjoy a couple slices with our pasta and have the full Lido, classic Italian experience. I've noticed with many pizza places there is a tendency to not put enough sauce on, so I asked the waitress about this at the beginning, not wanting to get, per se, extra sauce, just wanting to make sure there was enough sauce on the pie to actually taste it. She assured me that they usually put a generous amount of sauce on the pie so I ordered it as is. When it came it had hardly any sauce at all on it it was disappointing and we sent it back. The crust itself was more "bready" then "pizza-crusty", which, was not my preference for a pizza crust. All in all that was disappointing. So overall it was a bit of a mixed experience for us. We like the atmosphere... And when were in the mood for a classic Italian place this is a fun place to go with generally good food. I definitely would specify extra sauce for a pizza in the future, and my wife has high hopes that they wouldn't overcook everything that they served next time along. read more

My family & I have been going to Lido for over 30 years. We all love it there & go at least 3 times a month. Today we were so disappointed with the service provided by David & the manager. As soon as we ordered the server kept making rude remarks and kept making remarks as we were eating. He basically said we were ordered too much. He brought us to go boxes as we were eating our salads prompting us to ask another server if there was a time limit. When we asked for our bill he just slammed it on the table. I guess Lido doesn't care about their customers coming back. We didn't appreciate his attitude. We asked to speak with manager & we were dismissed. I'm so upset that we ended up leaving with most of our food. I won't be returning. read more

Used to be the spot to go for good food and the great environment but they are not the same anymore. It's not busy, a lot of tables open and the workers are talking amongst themselves while there are tickets (trash) on the floor. Right in front of their eyes... it's disgusting. We are waiting to be seated so I used the bathroom. I can't believe that the bathroom is in the condition it is in while the workers are just standing there talking. Trash is overflowing so there's trash all over the floor, no seats covers, no toilet paper where it belongs and overall just a disgusting place. I let the waiter know that he couldn't pick up the plate while I was sitting there or else the bug would escape. We like to start with the antipasto salad. The ingredients are quality and fresh and the cheese is so light and creamy--it looks like they extrude it like you would pasta dough to make spaghetti. There is nothing like fresh made pasta, and Lido's has it! Our go to is classic spaghetti with meat sauce and there is nothing like it. The sauce is not heavy, at all in the way some meat sauces can be, the tomatoes are bright and fresh and the combination of pasta and sauce won't disappoint.
