    Philly Cheesesteak & fries!

Stopped for a pastry one day and lunch the next... all good. The cinnamon role was great on day one. Followed up with the Philly the next day for lunch and it was excellent as were the fries. If I come back to Seward, I'll come back to Lighthouse for sure!

Front desk person was nice who welcomed well. Food was warm, healthy and good. Since it was next to place from where we had to take Kenai fjords tour, it made perfect sense to grab a bite from this clean homely place. Overall comfortable vibe

Toilet at Lighthouse Cafe asking you to put hands in tank to flush.
    A C.

My previous review was deleted because Yelp or the owner claims I didn't eat there. Posting a picture with my receipt for breakfast. And the toilet situation where they want you to stick your hand in the tank to flush the toilet. The breakfast wasn't bad but as with other deleted reviews the environment was very uncomfortable because the owner talks crazy politics loudly at the counter nonstop about his support for Israel and the flag next to him. Very unAlaskan crazy man raging to every customer against democrats, against Muslims and that taxes are socialism. Talking a mile a minute. Lecturing everyone at the order counter. All kinds of imagery in restaurant and window. EVERYONE in the place including employees are obviously offended but trapped in Alaska. It's unbelievable. Like how does this place exist?! I watched many people come and go that were shocked by what they had to endure. Will not return.

Amazing food! I had a turnover and some biscuits and gravy and wow! This place was wholesome and service was polite. love that they're also believers.

Came in this morning for breakfast 05022025... The front of the house was very clean and well put together. The staff was very friendly and proficient at their jobs. I also took an updated menu...

    French Toast

A small, centrally-located cafe serving up breakfast foods in Seward -- it was one of the few things open during the tourist off-season, so we ducked in before heading to the docks for our tour. The French Toast was good, but I wish they had more vegetarian breakfast foods that weren't sweets. They had ample seating inside and the food came out quick -- it worked in a pinch.

Great place for family breakfast. Their apple pastry was amazing. The portions are very big. Their oatmeal was plain but delicious.

At 9:55, after watching people who ordered after us get served, I asked again. I was told there were still five orders ahead of us and that they had simply forgotten ours. They offered a refund and said it had been processed. I took three cold sandwiches instead and left. The refund never arrived. I called; they said it hadn't gone through but would. It still didn't. I eventually had to dispute the charge with my bank, and even then only received a partial refund: $32.10 back on a $65.86 order, with the drinks alone costing about $15 per their own menu. My bank asked for a receipt, which I didn't have, I don't recall being offered one. The hot chocolate was good. The sandwiches were average, and cold. Two pieces of advice if you go: keep your receipt, and check on your order regularly. Looking at other reviews, being forgotten seems to be a recurring problem here. Update: I finally obtained an itemized breakdown after filing a BBB complaint. It confirms what I suspected: the sausage frittata -- an item I ordered, paid for, and never received -- was not refunded at all. So they kept payment for food that never left their kitchen.

The kicker was their spicy rowdy relish, though! It was packed with flavor and very fragrant! There was very inviting seating available inside and outside, and even games to play and sit and linger a bit--and the staff was super kind and knowledgable and made it very easy to feel like you could do just that! Music was lovely and the art on the walls was beautiful to take in, as well! It was such a delight to find such a charming breakfast spot while in Seward, and we know exactly where to go when we go back!!!

Everything is setup well and is situated in a great location! Unfortunately, service was awful! We ordered quickly and paid our tab up front ($60 for two chicken sandwiches and a basket of fries - including voluntary 18% tip, but not full-service dining). They gave us a pager and we found seats. Over the next 30 minutes we saw everyone getting food but us. I finally asked the status (politely) and got a seemingly annoyed response. I was told our order was next in line. I waited another 10 minutes and saw 3 more people served (who ordered way after us). I returned to check again and got a deep sigh and rolling eyes (mind you, it's been over 40 minutes at this point). They checked with their cook and he hadn't even started it. We were headed to airport and needed to get going, so when I pressed for an ETA he grumbled it'd be 5 minutes at most. It took 11 more minutes, which put our total wait at 51 minutes from time of order. We were never offered a discount, refund, or even an apology - VERY disappointing!!! The food was okay - but not worth that wait or frustration. We definitely won't be returning.

Further there are a couple of easy, scenic walks on the property. A 1 mile fairly flat nature trail through a wooded area and a 1-2 mile walk to and along the river, also fairly flat (albeit there is a hill with a phone at the bottom, Princess will send a shuttle to retrieve you). We used it as a base for walking the Russian River and Russian Lakes trail (to the first lake), both highly recommended. With more time we would have headed to Juneau Falls...there are a ton of hikes in the area, all which sound tremendous. Could also be used as a base for Seward and exploring the Exit Glacier/Harding Icefield hikes. Have fun! Oh. The rooms. Kinda rustic but clean and spacious, a wood burning stove and TV (used neither), balcony, and very importantly a laundry. Which we made good use of. Check in. We arrived at ~1:30 and lying in wait was a sugary sweet desk clerk who *very* sweetly and in no uncertain terms told us that check in was 3PM. The only thing missing was a "Bless your Heart". No wi-fi in the rooms, it is available in the lodge where there is a balcony tailor made for sipping wine and enjoying the river views.
