I am sucker for breakfast and when I found that Seward has no restaurant that serves breakfast after 11am I was heartbroken. On my last day here, after unsuccessfully trying to make it to breakfast before 11 am, I stopped by here after trying in 3 other places including Subway. The staff here was kind enough to make breakfast for me post 11.30am yay. This is a small mom and pop store, nothing fancy. We got breakfast burrito and fried egg sandwich. The sandwich was good, burrito was alright nothing to rave about On a side note, they also serve Indian buffet during weekends here. I didn't get to try it but it is also probably the only place in Seward that has Indian food. read more

When you order, the owner/manager (I assume) will add political commentary for everything. I don't understand why some have to be so angry. This place was right across from our hotel and this town is actually pretty expensive, so donuts for breakfast it was! Their pastries were about $3-$4 each and quite dense. They weren't super fluffy or fancy, but they were definitely HOMEMADE and local. I would've loved my cinnamon roll heated up, but it was fine and better than most of the cruise ship food. They had more than pastries, but we can't speak to their breakfast sandwiches and lunch items, but they did look pretty legit. Local, convenient, solid. read more

We wanted a quick stop for coffee and pastries as well as a place to sit down. Alaska has tons of drive thru coffee stops but that wasn't what we wanted. Service was fast. They do not offer table service but are efficient. We enjoyed a blueberry muffin, cinnamon roll, caramel latte, and coffee. We were directed to a microwave if we wanted our pastries warmed. My dining companion ordered an omelette and a coffee. It was definitely a more reasonable portion but the review I received from them was that it was also not appetizing. Our server was kind. But forgot everything. She didn't write one thing down and kept forgetting it all. Not just our table but the others around us. It took forever for her to take our order. He was rude and seem bothered just by needing to respond to simple questions regarding their offerings. Bought a couple of pastries - the blueberry muffin was AWFUL! Took a couple of bites and threw it away. My wife's choice was OK, but definitely not worth almost $5 There's no option for less than 1 star, so I have to list a 1 star rating. I had a great experience here. My breakfast was reasonably priced (exceptional for Alaska) and less expensive than others in the harbor area. Tip - the bagel / egg / bacon sandwich is HUGE - (I.e. Twice normal size) - but good - share it with a friend. I'm a Starbucks snob (if there is such a thing), and I enjoyed the Cafe Mocha's here (I came two days in a row). These folks use 4 shots of espresso (like you are suppose to) - unlike those other guys. I get half the chocolate & they let me know that is called a "tan Mocha". Funny though, when I ordered the second day, I had to explain what it was. I also had a Mexican chocolate cream filled pastry. The filled that sucker beyond capacity. It tasted great - but a little drippy. This is where you will find me for breakfast while I'm in Seward. read more

Probably the worst breakfast restaurant that I have ever walked into and walked out of. It was breakfast time and there was a line. Right at the peak of breakfast I do notice that people are eating of plastic baskets. Not really a big deal as I knows most people have breakfast burritos, giant breakfast burritos at that. I could totally do that this morning as it I am famished. So we get in line. I do notice they have vegetarian quiches and two kinds of meat quiches. Certainly that is different so I'm obliged when it's my turn to order, I'll have a quiche. The rude girl behind the counter says we're out of quiches. Great, my second choice or Plan B was to get the biscuits and gravy so I'll take that. She tells me we are out of gravy. Should I add this chance a breakfast burrito ? They were totally Unapologetic . Especially if they're out of everything what next ? Would it be out of tortillas? This is terrible a total of downward spiral. I don't even want a cookie or any of the goodies in the case. They don't even sell waffles or chicken and waffles or fish and chips or waffles. They're just totally tacky. While they may look look good, they all of a sudden don't seem to taste good or want to be. We walk out. How could a place at breakfast-time be out of so many things? It's summertime the cruise ships are in town. The summer people are here in town, what else are they out of? We had to leave this is going nowhere fast. I will not be back. Wow these reviews are HARSH on this locally owned little Alaskan cafe and bakery. Seward isn't New York or San Francisco so if that's your measure, you will be disappointed. But it's a great rural Alaskan cafe - the truest Mark lies in the fact that the locals - THE LOCAL ALASKANS - dine and drink here for breakfast and lunch during the tourist season. Breakfast burrito had some nice flavor but the potatoes that came with my reindeer sausage and eggs (which was WAAAAY overpriced even for Alaska) were vastly undercooked...no crisp at all. Mostly, the service was just very rude. Took forever to get our food and the staff was condescending. And they messed up the coffee order. Walk a little further and try Smoke Shack instead. We waited almost a half hour for breakfast burritos and coffee, and when we asked the owner to check on our burritos, he was SUPER rude and refused to check on our order! (This was after they'd already given us the wrong coffee order, so we wanted to make sure they hadn't forgotten about us.) The iced coffee was WARM and had no ice. This place was all around a big mess! Just avoid it! I ordered a soy raspberry mocha. Older man (check say Erik) says ok and reads back my coffee order minus the soy. I remind him about the soy and he tells me now they don't do special orders but when I pointed out soy was on the menu, he said fine. I also ordered a biscuit sandwich and apple fritter. I gave the man my money and was handed a receipt but no change. The receipt did not say/charge soy and I asked again if it was soy because of an allergy. The man had to go back and tell the staff to make it soy and hand wrote soy on my receipt. I then asked for my change and the man started mouthing off to me that he already wrote soy and told them soy and I'll get soy. I told him I was not asking about soy but that he never gave me my change and he started at me blankly. I asked for my change again and he was upset with me for change and soy. The apple fritter looked impressive but it was raw inside. The part I ate had no flavor and was just sad. Rather gross. My sandwich came out and the person bringing it called my number (#35) and I waved to him. Another customer came up and said I got his order since he was #35. We compared receipts, both #35. Good lord, they have two registers that use the same check numbers and people kept getting mixed up. Once I got my sandwich, it was plain and dry. Nothing exciting, just average. I was told my coffee was still coming. 22 minutes since ordering I still had not gotten my soy mocha. I went back to the counter and spoke with a different cashier. Asked him for my money back because I was done waiting for my drink. The man from before came back and made a snarky comment about soy and I snarked back at him with "I won't know if it was soy or not as you guys forgot to make it." I ordered a regular Habor burger and it came with some bugs. I waited for about 20 minutes and they told me ten and they didn't tell me it was my order, or my order number just set it out and then assisted someone else (who must've known the worker or was a regular because they were chatting for quite some time) I also bought a cinnamon roll but that was dry and hard. The first few bites of that burger was pretty good up until I finally noticed it had bugs all over it. I'm sticking with "it's good for a bite of a snack". Skip breakfast here, for to the Smoke Shake instead. We had a breakfast burrito and a harbor plate. The harbor plate was scrambled eggs, reindeer sausage, and home fries. The home fries were not only from a bag (not grilled like we were told) they were cold too! The waitress rearmed them but, for $36 you should get it right the first time.
