Came here to celebrate my son's 36th birthday. This has always been his favorite place. So much so that he ordered two entrees to go for later. He had the lasagna for lunch. The portion is Huge! I had the Hot Italian Beef sandwich with hot gardinair. The bread I'd crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The beef is very flavorful. Coupled with their fabulous fries, it can't be beat. They sprinkle the fries with fresh parm and Italian parsley. YUM! The ironic part is they also have Mexican fare on their menu. I have not tried that yet however. Two of us tried Little Nicks for the first time recently. We both ordered the same thing - the Lasagna Dinner. It was very tasty and HUGE. We also ordered the minestrone soup with our meal, which was delicious and hearty. I wish the garlic knots were a little more garlicky but hey, I'm a weirdo with my garlic intake. You know, I feel I was duped into visiting this restaurant. By the looks of it from the street, the name, the fact that "Pizza" is, in fact, part of the name, you'd think it was Italian. My dad has been coming to Lil Nick's for years and years. I don't get the appeal, but I don't mind coming in to eat here every few months. They use some kind of spice that I can't quite place, and it doesn't really sit well with me. The chips and salsa are pretty good. My dad loves the grinder. Stopped by on my way in from utah. The appetizer nachos are garbage, dry pinto beans with shredded lettuce. I gave it a chance as my pizza order was wrong. Toppings way off from what I wanted and the dough was not cooked all the way through, gooey pizza with Nasty nachos. The server was rude some older blonde chick in stained shorts with a loud ring that screamed snob. If you want something different it's worth a shot but the chances of good food are iffy. read more

So I stopped here for the first time to order a pizza to go. We have been trying to find a good pizza joint since we moved here last year. I never gave it a try before because it looks like a dive bar from the out side but today I was feeling lucky. I have to say the pizza was very good. My wife wished it had more sauce but I did get her sauce on the side so she was happy. The service was good also as I waited for my pizza I had a beer. It has a small bar, 8 chairs, but does have a few tables in the bar area. They also have a restaurant side with tables and booths. Over all I would say that I would recommend this place for their pizza and service. read more

This place is true great food, very affordable, all sauces are homemade, their Alfredo sauce on a pizza is incredible... but be sure to try the Grounder sandwich one of the best in Denver homemade Italian sausage sandwich with the perfect flavor. To start the iced tea tasted flavorless just like water. This seems to be the theme at this restaurant as the rest of the meal followed suit. The red sauce they use for their ravioli appetizer and for their calzone is seriously lacking in flavor. Even a little salt would help it out immensely. The calzones were okay, hot and fresh but just lacking anything memorable, and again the sauce. Ugh! Tried the green chili because i thought maybe this would be their saving grace. Again, seriously lacking flavor. The atmosphere is Grimm and in need of a facelift. I wanted to like this place as we pass it daily but i was so disappointed. From the outside you might question going in do to location but do not let it stop you from going in you won't be disappointed. Warm and welcoming inside this small pizza joint. The pizzas are great and recommended choices do not disappoint. Have been here for many occasions ranging from team functions to family functions. This is now a great hole in the wall pizza place. I've been a few times over the last couple of years and never been too impressed until recently. The sauce has changed and is now much more flavorful, the dough seems different (in a good way) and the garlic knots are ADDICTING. Even my father in law who hates bread baskets wanted the last one. Since I only get togo I can't speak about the service but even a plain cheese pizza is now great. My only complain is that I wish they did slices on the weekends! read more

I ordered the enchiladas, big mistake. Sauce was thin and the meat in the enchiladas tasted like they used taco seasoning to season the beef. The refried beans tasted like canned beans. My husband ordered an Italian pasta dish and he said he was not impressed. Disappointed! read more

we moved to arvada 2 yrs ago. lil nicks was our go to pizza place. We have always loved getting a pizza and salad to go. We decided to dine in and experience their pasta. We had heard great things. I have to say that I was soooo disappointed. The garlic knots were cold and we didn't taste any garlic, they were served with cold, flavorless tomato sauce. Our salads were boring, not even one tomato. My husband and I ordered the half and half, he ordered ravioli & linguine, I ordered ravioli & mostacolli. We both loved the ravioli(sadly there were only 2 on each plate) and the noodles were over cooked and soggy. The sauce was horrible. There was zero flavor and cold. What a disappointment. We decided that the pizza would be the only thing that we would continue to pick up at Lil Nick's and we won't be dining in again. read more

The food here is not good and there are lots of health code violations in the back. I use to work in the kitchen and I feel compelled to warn people about this place. Everything is made with lard. Bread, pizza dough, beans, chili... Deep cleaning, like pulling out and apart the grill, cleaning the walk in, and scrubbing the vent above the grill almost never happens. Raw meat to vegetable handling happens all the time. Be careful touching your plates. You do not want to walk into the walk in, food on the floor, some of it moldy. The food is way outdated. Mostly appeals to the old timers and people looking to eat on days when there are specials happening. The owners give out tones of free stuff to friends, losing money. Then, we were always short staffed in the kitchen and had no money to hire someone. The food would suffer, but in the end the customer would suffer more. Not a place for dates. I hope things change. Reminds me of a bad truck stop/dive bar. Sorry, but this place is not for me or most people that I know. Best of luck to Lil Nicks! Put some care into the things that are broken. Your community loves you, mostly the old timers. Appeal to their families and the younger generations with good food, good kitchen habits and systems (especially ordering product), and a more modern decor, and the restaurant will be packed for another 30 some years. To the credit of the staff they are very quick and nice. The food was just sub par and expensive. I had the Nixon pizza and it was alright but not worth almost $20 for a 10" pizza. The garlic knots were really not, they were just bread no garlic or butter to make them garlic knots. The fettuccine Alfredo was watery and slightly in settling. Both the fettuccine with chicken and the pasta trio were ~$17 and the servings were small. read more

Soooooooooooooo disappointed... Been a loyal customer for over 20 years. Although, I am not able to get over there as much as I would like to, I really look forward to it when I am able to go. Went a month and a half ago for my Anniversary on the way back from an overnight outing in the Mountains. Was VERY surprised the menu had somewhat changed. I still ordered the norm (Italian Grinder) and was above pleased as usual especially for the fries, I didn't remember them being done that tasteful. I literally couldn't stop thinkin bout them fries for the last few weeks. Even told a few people to go there just for them. Fast forward to tonight..... Oh what a difference 6 weeks makes! In the past 20 years I've been going, I have never been there without seeing the familiar faces of the Owners. I was quite surprised not to see them there tonight. I sure hope they were just taking a well deserved Friday night off and we're not there due to any emergency or anything. However, with them not being there tonight was a perfect example of a scenario of "when the cats away, the mice come out to play..." The service we had first off was below acceptable. Aside of having 1 refill of Tea (the entire night) after my mom had to ask for it 5 minutes before we were leaving, the Waitress basically paid no attention to us. Example.... I had to get up and find my own spoon for my sons pasta, and again had to get up and find my own ketchup since the waitress was too busy. Now, I've worked in the restaurant business for many years and especially on a Friday night you tend to get busy and have to accommodate you other guests I get it... Too bad she only had 1 other table to service and they were completely done with their dinner before our food even came out and were just socializing at their table. After they had left while she was clearing their table, when frankly she should have been servicing ours, the "cook in charge" came out of the kitchen and I overheard him ask our Waitress (Madi I think her name was she never officially introduced herself, personality of a ROCK), "would you like anything from 7-11, I'm going to do a trade with them." Now, I don't really have any beef with that, because its not my call if they "trade some of their food for snacks", but I just think it wasn't very professional and shouldn't have been discussed in front of their guests, if that's what you want to call us.... I think the key would have been to sit in the bar area since that's where the "party was" for all of the young people sitting at the bar and running the restaurant. Our waitress was pretty interested of what was going on in the bar area since she was in there the majority of the time we were there and that's NOT an exaggeration. After we had left, on the ride home it was discovered my mom still tipped the waitress 20%. She claimed she was so flustered she didn't calculate the gratuity correctly and didn't want to wait for change and just wanted to get out of there. Honestly that bothers me.... Again having worked in this industry I know what it takes to earn that 20% gratuity providing spectacular service and I think what bothers me most is that waitress had no idea we were displeased so in here eyes she thinks she did a good job..... NOT! Unfortunately, I was less than pleased with the food even more. My mom and I both ordered the same thing and it seems the restaurant ran out of Sausage while trying to make our sandwiches. Both were more than an inch less on each side of the sandwich short of the bread ends..... No Joke, on one of my halves, I had to turn the Sausage patty horizontal to better accommodate the bread on the Sandwich. It almost feels they were about to run out of cheese too considering the amount of cheese that were on the sandwiches. Oh yeah, and that delicious sauce that typically comes with them seemed as if it were from a can and had little to no flavor... The Chili strips were non existent, it felt as if they had 1 left and diced it up to accommodate both sandwiches. Not the Lil Nicks I remember... Through the years or as little as 6 weeks ago. Oh and those fries that were so delicious... Ummmm yeah no, the Owner cook in the kitchen wasn't there and it CLEARLY reflected that... I could have went to McDonalds and had better fries tonight. I hope the bad taste that was left in my mouth goes away and I find it in me to go back (when the Owners are there) sometime, but I will tell you it will be a while if at all before that happens..... Shame on you Lil Nicks.... Not the way to keep 20 year loyal customers. All of these 20 year old something kids you have running your restaurant are going to run it into the ground, at least when you're not around... read more

Been coming here for YEARS. It is a cute little place right off Kipling. The pizza is really good, as is the soup. I haven't really tried anything else because I like their pizza. If you buy a extra large pizza, you get a small for free. It's a great deal if you go in with kids who are picky. You can get what you want and a small free cheese pizza, have leftovers and everyone is happy. :) read more

We had a groupon for Little Nick's and went over the weekend. You can't tell anything about the restaurant from the outside. It's cozy on the inside and has relaxed family restaurant feeling. The staff was really friendly, telling us about other specials they offer and helping us make up our mind from a couple of the specialty pizzas. We had pizza and garlic knots and big tall glasses of coke. It's not near where I live, so I don't know how often I'll make it back, but it is A-OK (as the three star rating is labeled here on Yelp). read more

Great neighborhood joint! The bar is small, but fun and there are great beers on tap. The pizza was great and the price was good. I will definitely be going back and reserving my spot at the bar next time. I deeply regret thinking a restaurant could pull off Mexican and Italian at the same time. Regretfully, I learned at the expense of getting sick from a poorly crafted burrito/food borne illness wrapped in a tortilla. My guess is they sell more Italian than Mexican and my choice to try the burrito landed some "aged" ingredients on my plate. I will spare you the details but after a dinner here I woke up in the middle of night in bad shape and the burrito took its revenge and really made me regret this decision. You may have noticed I still have this place two stars. That is because the Italian side of the menu is actually good. My wife had the calzone and it was great. I have also had eggplant parm and pizza here, both good and none of those had me hugging porcelain at 3am. The staff is also very nice. Moral of the story...If you want Mexican and your wife wants Italian don't think that this place will save you, the Mexican food here is unfit for human consumption and potentially dangerous. read more

That night had some of both and fell in love with the place. Brought the kids in the following week and they really enjoyed the menu choices and the wait staff.
