Let me tell you. I wanted to love this place. I really did. We just left. Walked the hell out. Why? Let me sing you the song of my people. Parked in the parking lot on Grand...climbed through the chain fence while a guy in the kitchen was staring at us (probably my wife, thanks Lululemon) and as we walked towards the open door against his stares, he finally greeted us. "YOU HAVE TO USE THE FRONT DOOR!" Whoops! My bad. So we walk in. It's packed. They tell us to put our name on the list, and bar seating is available. I walk over and write my name on the list, because the lady at the register failed to acknowledge my existence. This is a common theme now. One server offers us a seat at the bar. (There's three chairs and three of us, and the other two parties on the list in front of us are 4's) We sit at the bar, but as we are seated, the lady at the register reminds us that we need to check in first... I said we did. She got a little bit of an attitude. That's pretty much where it ends. 20 minutes of no drink, no silverware, Twelve games of tic-tac-toe later, three other groups were seated. As I stood up, the owner/manager said to her staff "am I going to have to put my work shoes on to help these people" It was all I could do to say what was on my mind. I let her know that I felt that we had been treated rudely since we walked up to the restaurant. Then we left. She followed us offering to comp our meal. But it was too late. read more

This eatery did not disappoint. I ordered the corn beef hash with two poached eggs. Fantastic order. They make the hash on site and it is reflected in the result. Service was painfully slow and the food was not so great. Friend ordered eggs and ham... They BURNED the F*#$%*@ HAM! The easiest thing to put on the plate! My go to breakfast for years. Biscuits and gravy is amazing, small diner vibe and the service is almost always amazing.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! AWFUL SERVICE!!! My family of 5, my husband and I and our 3 young kids put our name on the list and they said it would be about 20 minutes, which we were happy to wait. 40 minutes went by and my husband went to check and they had skipped our name. No problem, mistakes happen. We were then seated in the sun with a baby and given menus. I asked if there were any tables inside or out of the sun and the waitress collected our menus and went inside saying she would check. She came back out without saying anything and took 2 tables orders and brought out there drinks. I said excuse me so I could ask if there was a table inside and she yelled "I'm not your waitress" and walked away. At this point another table looked over shockingly. I went to the front counter to ask who our waitress was after 10 more minutes of sitting out in the heat with no waters and no menus. Another person pointed to a lady and said she is the manager and will be your server. She looked at me and said just wait because I am going to bring out food to a table. I went back to my table and waited. Keira, the manager and our waitress, came over and I told her what had happened. Instead of apologizing, she said we don't sit parties of 5 inside do you still want to sit out here? We asked why we weren't told that before and why she had walked by about 20 times and never said anything to us and nobody brought us water. She asked, "well, are you going to stay?" I asked if we could get some menus and waters. She came out with the waters and threw the straws on the table and said "here you go" in a very annoyed way. My husband looked at me and at this point we decided this was not the place we wanted to do business with. I worked in the restaurant business for many years and have never come across a waitress let alone a manager like this. I was appalled to see such a rude person running a restaurant. Even my kids asked why she was acting that way. We love supporting small town local businesses, but needless to say, we will not be back! read more

This café has been here a good long while under different ownerships. I ate here when it was "Carla's" and then when it was "Shirley's'" (both were pretty good) and after reading the recent reviews for the latest "Lil' Bits" and their great biscuits and gravy I had to return this week. I was pretty excited to get a decent breakfast and, yeah, it was decent, but it could have been better. There were a half-dozen others dining when I entered and I must give the server credit for being friendly and efficient. She seemed to be alone in the dining room and was keeping up with all her customers. I ordered a simple biscuits and gravy with sausage and home fries (the menu said it was a "half-order" of biscuits but it was huge) and the biscuits were awesome and NOT the gummy microwaved types I have found at other places. They were perfect and HUGE and soft and moist and the gravy was better than most. Any biscuit and gravy fan should be happy with them. The other stuff on the plate, however, was for the birds. The sausages were small links and they had potential because HOW can someone mess up packaged sausage? Well, they were way beyond salty and they didn't seem to be fresh off the grill. They were dry and wrinkly as though they had been pre-cooked then set aside and warmed up for me. The home-fries weren't any better. They were not hot, but kinda warm and they had the weird distinction that half of the potatoes were gummy and undercooked while the other half were dry, but cooked. Some were crunchy. And they were served with burnt chunks of green peppers and onions mixed in - it was odd that the onions and peppers were burnt while the potatoes were not - which made me think the veggies were fried separately then mixed in - which may not be a Bad Thing all the time but if that what was done it failed to work this time. I would have left really happy if I had just got the biscuits and gravy but I was hungrier than that and the messed-up taters and sausage pretty much made the whole thing a bit of a flop. I *might* return if someone leads me in that direction but I'll try something different. Their menu has many good-looking items and I'll be sure to stay away from the sausages and taters. Fantastic! Friendly! and the BEST Strawberry JAM.... The morning of my birthday, December 17th, two of my best friends and I were seeking where to have breakfast. From visiting the area a few months prior, I remembered Huckleberry's. So we went there. We had just sat down and they had just brought our coffee when all the electricity went out. I took this as a sign that I was not meant to be there. Jeanie typed in Breakfast into her google search and we found Lil'Bits! We typed the address into the GPS and off we went on a new adventure! We found this lovely little restaurant in the back of an older strip shopping center. So cute. It's nestled and welcoming. Upon opening the door, we were faced with three open seats at the counter! Perfect! We sat. We were greeted so warmly that my friend Sandi did not want to leave. She could have enjoyed hot tea and the atmosphere all day. I LOVE Corned Beef Hash! I have traveled to different STATES to consume Corned Beef Hash! Lil'Bits has very delicious Corned Beef Hash and I love that they serve their tea from a chipped tea pot! Its so cute and quaint! Prices are reasonable! The HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY JAM: They really need to can and package it for sale! It's delicious... The three of us started thinking of other things to do with the Jam... It would be delicious on Ice Cream as a topping! It would be delicious mixed into ice cream. It would make a really tasty short cake combo with a bit of chocolate (chocolate is always needed). I wonder how their Strawberry Jam would taste on a pork chop? It was delicious on their obviously homemade Biscuits. Add a little crème and make it into layers... and its a delicious dessert. Chocolate brownies topped with their Strawberry Jam... would be yummy. Yes... we did it all day and we could actually write a cook book for the use of their Strawberry Jam... We left on the 17th so satisfied we returned on the 18th for some more! Then we had a wonderful surprise... Lil'Bits owns the antique store we tried to get into on the 17th. It was a win win... For me, this gets marks for trying and serving pretty decent food, but unfortunately loses points in basic service and cleanliness. My wife and i arrived at the far end of a busy Saturday brunch rush and parked across the road; then, due to misleading Google navigation, walked around the corner only to realize we would have to climb under a chain and up an alley to find the front entrance (the parking lot is accessible from N 7th Street, not West Grand). We then put our names on the waiting list. One of the servers, with pink dye in her dark hair, was somewhat obnoxiously animated, behaving as if she ran the entire place and talking almost non-stop to no one in particular throughout her inefficient duties, seemingly as an effort to fool everyone into believing she knew what was going on. She was fairly distracted (probably by her own rambling). After she finally finished clearing a table (which, apart from a few small items, cutlery and whatnot, had been empty for the entire 15 minutes we had just waited for), she inexplicably returned to partially wipe it down three times, taking another 5 minutes to do so between vague, unimportant distractions. It then took her two tries to find and seat us, even though we had arrived and put our names on the list right in front of her. When we finally got seated, we quickly ordered coffees from Pink-Hair-Dye, and when she brought them out, she disappeared without giving us menus. Meanwhile, I noted that the coffee was awful (watery and big-batch percolated) and abandoned it after only a sip. It was at this point that a different woman (the one who had entered our names into The List) came to our aid, provided menus, and apologized, explaining that when she had asked Pink-Hair-Dye if we'd ordered yet, she gave a look of bewilderment as if she had no idea who we were. List-Lady continued to serve us competently and sympathetically for the remainder of our visit. We declined a coffee refill, and I asked for a water. Strangely, it tasted of mold, as had my wife's coffee. Perhaps it was the water, the ice, the glass, the storage surface, or the dishwasher. Not wanting to raise the issue, and wrapping up our meal to move on with our day, we could only guess. The meal portions were large, flavorful and sufficiently (not overly) greasy. The handmade tortilla with my chorizo and eggs was massive and deliciously fresh, and the home fries tossed with bell peppers and onions were lightly spiced and a wee bit crispy, exactly as I like them. My wife had the Popeye scramble which, apart from the lack of spinach the menu had promised, was also decent. She mentioned that her corn bread biscuit also tasted of mold, though it appeared and otherwise seemed to be freshly baked (note: we tasted mold on two further occasions at other local restaurants, leading us to believe there must be a faint odor/flavor/presence of mold in the local tap water). Or maybe it was coincidence. At any rate, and in conclusion, this is not a horrible place to get a hearty hole-in-the-wall greasy-spoon diner-style breakfast, brunch or lunch, but don't expect much in terms of performance from its understandably laid back, small-town, possibly transient wait staff. read more

A really solid breakfast joint. The place is a little "dingy" with mismatched chairs and decor that doesn't match throughout the little place, but the food itself is good. My hubby and I were there for breakfast at about 10:30 this past Saturday. It looked super crowded and busy, but after about 10 minutes, the ladies seated us in the back room that opens up beyond the first room you can see from the front door. It was still bustling and busy with tons of people, but the service was solid and they took our orders promptly. I ordered their country scramble and the boo had their French toast. Everything was cooked really well and tasted really good. I added their house salsa which has a nice little kick. Also, portions are massive! :)) Solid 4 all around. Was hanging out with my family in Pismo Beach and we were not familiar with the area. Utilizing Yelp to determine what places in the area would be a good choice for breakfast, we came across this place. Looking at the exterior you would think it was a dump and seating would be limited. It is bigger than it actually appears and the interior is not as bad as the outside. Despite something that is insignificant to the quality of the food, the service and the food was excellent. The server was welcoming and the food quality and quantity surpassed my expectations. Came here for the first time on Sunday and got breakfast burritos to go. The employees were very nice and friendly and customers seem to really love their food. My husband loved his burrito and mine was also very good, however, it was a little too salty and the bacon was really fatty and I wish it had been cooked a little longer. Came here as plan B because the other breakfast place that was recommended to us was too crowded and was glad we found Lil'Bits from Yelp. My boyfriend and I walked in and I just felt their energy! I loved the staff warmth and they were natural and felt alive! Didn't wait too long. There was more space in the back. Service is efficient and they checked on us well. Ok I've been here several times and always loved the food and service, one of my favorites, but after todays visit I really can't see myself coming back here again. I walk in and I have a seat my order is taken quickly, the waitress (I got here name but no need to mention it) smiles and says "it will be out right away." So I'm like ok great. I'm sitting there for a good 40 mins as she keeps apologizing about the wait. I notice this sign that says there's a party going on in the back room, but we can still serve our regular customers :)...something along those lines. After the waitresses 3rd apology I believe I finally am frustrated, which I usually am not and I finally ask how much longer, she's all "oh there's this party and it's busy, it will be at least another 10 mins." At that point I snapped and said when you took my order you said it would be right out, I'm getting out of here, and I left. So...just terrible service, not that it was taking forever but lil Bits should have wrote on that sign "we are having a party, regular customers should expect an extended wait." Or the waitress should have said "it will be around an hour or so bc of the party is that ok?" Instead of saying it will be right out, it's like she knew it wouldn't be right out, so she lied to my face. Or...lil Bits should have shut down and posted on the outside door "sorry private party, we will be open to the public tomorrow." The fact that none of this was done and the whole situation was handled so poorly and unprofessionally has made it where I have no reason to ever come back here. There was also a couple who were waiting longer than I was and were also met with the "sorrys" of the staff. Had such high hopes because of the reviews- they were definitely not met. From the moment we sat down we were the bastard child of the restaurant. Had to get up and get menus, get up and ask for drinks, and had to ask someone to take our order (yes we should have just left). When we finally did order the food came out fairly quickly, which was nice, but then we had to ask for silverware as well. Nothing to rave about with the food, had a mostly black avocado on my burger so that was rough (especially when I'm paying no extra for it), my boyfriend liked his meal. What more could you want from a seaside diner? It's a cute, mom n' pop-style diner. You pull up a chair at the bar, and get plates piled high with greasy brunch food. Big, silver-dollar pancakes as big as your head, and good, hot coffee that just keeps coming. Eggs, bacon, home fries. Everything looked deliciously unhealthy and plentiful. The brunch clientele seemed to be military folks, locals, and families. The servers were friendly, and while the restaurant is small (you might have to wait for a table during peak hours), the bar suited us just fine. As a local and regular diner at Lil'Bits, I was taken back by the way the waitress treated my friend and I when she took our order, delivered our food in a big huff, and slammed the receipt down on table then literally ran away. She was unpleasantly rude to say the least. The food quality is not as good as it has been in the past (going downhill) and with the rude wait staff I will take my business elsewhere. I'm done. There are so many other great places to eat in the area there's no reason to go back to be treated rudely and eat average food.
