They took us to the back where it got bigger we looked at the plates and noticed good size portions. I ordered the country scramble, Darlene got the 3 Egger with a ham steak. The restaurant is laid out with a front dining area, which includes counter space and a back dining room, as well as seating al fresco in the front. Portions are generous and service was efficient and polite. We were initially put off by the foodstuff that was stuck on our coffee cups ... we went through 6 mugs before finding one that appeared to be 100% washed, however, this incident was quickly overlooked when the biscuits and gravy was served. Actually, inside is somewhat cramped, but I guess there is a larger dining area just past the booths. Anyways, the cooks are all covered in tattoos and look like they just got off their Harleys, but dang, can they cook! The biscuits were better than amazing! The biscuits and gravy, oh my! Wait was short, and the staff kept us updated even though they were busy. clean light joint with a surprise extra room in the back. This is not a fancy place, its just a down home stick to your ribs breakfast joint. corned beef hash, great toast, great potatoes, eggs cooked perfectly, hash.... well it was ok, but I'm pretty picky, and I really prefer the shredded style instead of their mushy version. Wifey had some biscuits and gravy, really great B&G! and the bacon was nice and thick sliced with good smoky flavor. Solid. I'm picky about coffee (I roast coffee beans at home) I didn't like the coffee here. The OJ tasted fresh though, really good OJ. Good service too. After spending many mornings in this cafe over the last five years, today was our last. The service has gone down over the last year When they lost the staff who knew how to take care of customers. This morning I took my husband there for Father's Day. We were put on a list and told ten minute wait. Twenty minutes later when seats freed up, two guys who had just walked in got the table - the staff didn't even look to see we were on the wait list. When I tried to say something about being in the list the waitress just shrugged her shoulders. So much for service to your loyal customers. We're done. read more

I so wanted to like this place because it's literally seconds from my house. I had heard good things from others around the area and figured I'd give it a try since I had my best friend in town and we were looking for breakfast. Upon getting there we were met with smiling faces and got seated right away. Upon looking at the menu it was pretty basic which is totally fine especially for breakfast but the prices were a little outlandish. The food came out pretty quickly and from there the experience went downhill extremely quickly. The server, Stephanie, never came back once to check on us and my friend had to get up to go ask for a straw, her food was OK but the fruit bowl that they brought to the table did not look fresh so we didn't even bother touching it. I got the pancakes which didn't really have much flavor and neither did the syrup which was whatever that was what I chose so I continued eating it until I got to the middle of the pancakes where it was raw and it began to make me sick. So of course I stopped eating it and waited for the server to come over which was about 10 minutes later when she had the check in her hand, I told her what happened and she took the fruit and the pancakes and apologized. Upon her coming back she let us know that she took off the fruit and that was it and I said that I believe that the pancakes should be taken off as well which caused her to grab the check aggressively roll her eyes and storm off without another word. She came back after about five minutes and said that there was nothing that could be done since half of the pancakes were eaten which literally made no sense to us because the reason the pancake was half eaten was because in the center of the pancake it was raw, therefore I stopped eating it at that point. So she proceeded to charge us for the pancakes and that was that. We will not be returning here in the future. read more

This place was great. You get a HUGE amount of food for a very reasonable price. My wife and I shared the 3 egg, bacon, hashbrown breakfast. We added a pancakes and were so full, we couldn't even finish. Make sure you ask for their homemade jam. My only gripe, is that they split and toast the biscuit. I prefer my biscuits untoasted and will ask for it that way next time. I also wish the had coke instead of pepsi. read more

Big portions and TONS of gravy. Thats the first thing that comes to mind. We went here prior to surprising Randy for his bday. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with biscuits and gravy on the side. Tip: Hashbrowns well done. These were probably some of the best hashbrowns ever if you like crunchy hashbrowns, which I do. Just salty enough... great with ketchup... I'm a pepper person myself, so putting pepper on this was like eating a bag of Kettle Chips Salt n Pepper. Chicken fried steak was delicious. Salty/crusty/crunchy/juicy... a classic done right. This was smothered in gravy, which was a nice thick country style gravy with chunks of sausage. The sausage was flavorful, but the gravy was lacking just a tad. Biscuits: Super interesting... almost like a biscuit mixed with cornbread... it was a gritty but fluffy and dense texture. These things were the size of bricks... and covered in their gravy too. -1 star because their gravy lacked kick and may have needed more pepper, or something to give it umph. But damn, this was a damn good breakfast. Oh yeah, their home made preserves were really really good too. I could see this becoming a default spot when going down to the SLO/Pismo area. read more

The place is simple, and the seating a little different, with a back room full of tables away from the diner like front room. Don't let that stop you from going here. The food is classic comfort, portions big and everything yummy. This is not an every day place unless you split the calories on one plate with 2 friends, but yanno, sometimes you need a hug in your food, and there is a big one here. I really wanted to like this place, but... It's tucked away in a sad kind of 1950s mini strip mall just a half block off of Grand Avenue. Once you open the door you're greeted with fresh faces and warm smiles and a cheery hello. Normally, this would be my kind of place! Unfortunately, the dining area is so grubby from the walls and floors to the sticky table top and the schmutz covered ketchup bottle that I almost bailed. However, I stuck it out to see if the Yelp reviews of the food are accurate in my opinion. We ordered an omelette and the French toast with a small side of biscuits and gravy. The omelette was good, cooker perfectly. The rest was just ok. I sure hope the owners of lil bit read this because they have a really great staff and a solid flow of customers and that is not easy to do in this part of the country. Please clean the joint up and put out the great food you are known for because the meal I had was not good enough. I'll try it again, but only after I see it cleaned up a "lil bit". read more

This place is so amazing, everything is delicious!! I HIGHLY suggest anyone to try it. Me and my boyfriend tried it and we're from Bakersfield. All I gotta say is that I'm glad we tried it!!!
