Apparently, David Portnoy from Barstools reviewed Lillo's and gave this place high marks. Especially for their cheesesteaks and pizza. So of course I had to see what the hype was about! When in Rome, you gotta do what the Roman's do. If everyone says you have to try both then I'm trying both. The cheesesteaks was definitely the star for me. The bread, steak, and cheese all worked so well together, and topping it off with their hot sauce made it even better. Yummy! The bread especially helped make the sandwich. It had the right texture to hold everything together without taking away from the steak and cheese. I also tried their pizza, which was good, but if I had to choose between the two, I'm going with the cheesesteak all day! This place was busy, with people constantly coming in and out while I was there. After trying the food, I can definitely see why. If you're coming here don't skip out on the cheesesteaks and the hot sauce on top. read more

Giving them a solid 5 for: cleanliness, spaciousness, friendliness, abundance of food choices, and quality of product. Tried for the first time for lunch today and got a square that seemed as if it was waiting on the counter just for me. Tomato and cheese with basil, called the "Nonna." All edges, no crust. It was perfect. Flavorful, crispy non-greasy crust, tomato sauce was so garlicky, topped it with red pepper flakes, and that square was gone in 35 seconds flat. Also, $3 and change for a square?! Literally unheard of. They were also amazing and threw in one knot on the house because I couldn't/didn't want to eat 4. The other pizzas looked amazing and fresh, and I'm gonna say this is the best pizza in the neighborhood now. Absolute repeat business for me! read more

My family and I walked past Lillo's for months while they were building it out, so we were counting down the days until it finally opened. It absolutely did not disappoint. I'm someone who's driven to Philly just for a cheesesteak, so I came in with pretty high expectations. For $18, the sandwich was enormous. Honestly, it could've fed a family of three (there were only two of us...but I'm just saying!). It was packed with perfectly thin-sliced steak, loaded with cheese that was melted throughout instead of just sitting on top, and served on outstanding seeded bread that's brought in fresh from New Jersey daily. We added fries, mostly because we wanted to try them, and immediately realized we had made a rookie mistake. The portion was massive. We left completely stuffed -- in the best possible way. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. They answered all of our questions, were genuinely excited to talk about what they're serving, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. As Forest Hills residents, we're always hoping a new spot will become part of our neighborhood rotation. Lillo's made the list after a single visit. I'm just glad we went for an early dinner, because I honestly wasn't hungry again until lunchtime the next day. read more

Is this the best Philly Cheesesteak in NYC? Definitely not. In Queens? Probably not. Is it better than most offerings around? Depends on what you like. Opened a few days ago, there was a small line when I got there about 6:15pm today. The server said 10 minutes, but it took quite a while to get my sandwich. Roughly 30 minutes. Apparently, I am not the only customer eagerly waiting for their sandwich. Many patrons were standing around. There were even a couple of disgruntled customers complaining. I truly hope their process will improve over time. When the cheesesteak did arrive, it was pipping hot and filled to the brim. For $18, the sandwich looked tasty, though it did not look cheesy. Regardless, it was full of chopped beef slices and cooper sharp cheese. The overall flavor if the filling was pretty good. I do wish there was a little more cheese and definitely more onions. Also, they made a mistake and allowed some random peppers into my sandwich. Not a big deal unless someone has severe allergies. I don't have that problem, so it didn't bother me. What detracted from the experience for me majorly was the bread. It was dense and did not enhance the cheesesteak at all. Therefore, it is overall a decent sandwich, but does not reach the level of greatness I have experienced elsewhere. Furthermore, their pizza did not impress me much. Worst part was the crust, which was crispy but borderline hard and stiff, cracker-like. As for flavor, the tomato pie was just plain old boring. The bites where I got tomato sauce was better, but can't save the slice. Nonna was saucier, but the tomato sauce is more like tomato paste, drier and zestier than the average pizza sauce. Sadly, not a consolation prize for the bad crust. I do believe this restaurant is a nice new addition to the neighborhood. Hoping they will become more efficient over time and improve that pizza crust and bread of the cheesesteak. I will give them another chance to impress in a month or two. read more

Best cheesesteak hero in Queens hands down. The basic whole cheesesteak comes with cooper cheddar and grilled onions on a seeded or un-seeded hero. That bread is brought up from South Jersey and it shows. It's just one of the top quality ingredients that make this sandwich a classic. You can opt to order a 1/2 cheesesteak with fries for $14 (the fries are tasty and plentiful) but my go to is the 16oz Cheesesteak. It's the full hero and it's stuffed. $18 which around here is huge bang for the buck. Get the whole hero and split it or just be happy and stuffed for the evening! It's really good. Or go on a different tract and get a chicken cheesesteak hero. Options! The staff are great. They're friendly and knowledgeable about what items you might like (those massive garlic knots, for instance) and which pies you should try a slice of. Maybe I'll get around to those myself, but right now I'm going to be working my way through the cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteak, buffalo chicken cheesesteak, and the grilled chicken hero. Forest Hills doesn't have any decent sandwich places so I'm happy to see Lillo's expanding into our area. The store is clean and well lit, and has a great vibe. Great spot to pick up a quick affordable lunch/dinner. Large space with lots of standing space and a few tables. Pizza was decent, cheesesteak was enormous proportions, very affordable. Fries are very potato-y. Wasn't too fond of the garlic knots but huge plus that they give it with marinara sauce. I would not rate this the best cheesesteak but it's good for the average person craving it. It will definitely fill you up. read more

First time coming here i thought the portions were decent. To be honest i dont eat cheesesteaks often so I dont have a recent experience to compare to but I thought it tasted pretty good. With nothing to compare id rate it 7/10. I ate it there so everything was pretty fresh I wonder if the bread could get soggy with delivery though. I'm weighing in and throwing my proverbial Elite weight around by strategically giving this place a strong solid 4 in hopes of bumping up the cumulative rating accordingly. This is first and foremost on the strength of its excellent extremely authentic Cheesesteak, both the traditional and chicken variants. Instantly in the conversation for best in the city title along with the much more massively hyped Bradley Cooper backed operation, and almost certainly the best in the borough by a long shot. Fantastic Philly, quality semolina roll enveloping perfectly moist and juicy proteins mingling magnificently with deliciously translucent caramelized onions and oozing, creamy cheese. I will also however praise it's likewise extremely authentic Trenton-style tomato pie, with the caveat that IMO, as with the very similar and historic New Haven Apizza, that it MUST be ordered and consumed in FULL PIE format as is the only long-established tradition in greater Trenton. Apparently the landlord of the branch here encountered the original establishment, presumably on the heels of it's Portnoy praise, and convinced the chef/owner to open a branch here in his shopping center, installing himself as a co-owner and in the process insisted that hewing to local pizza culture and tradition that they MUST offer pizza by the slice. I feel that this has resulted in the pizza being sampled reheated in not the proper fashion for Trenton Style resulting in an underwhelming expierience that does not due the style and tradition proper justice. Take my advice and either stick to the cheesesteaks or order the full pie for the proper Trenton experience, sweeter than average for NYC but quite tasty sauce on top of cheese with a crust somewhere between NY and New Haven. And if the management is by chance reading this review PLEASE follow through on the promise to go all out and introduce the 5 boroughs to the bizarrely delicious Trenton delicacy that is the mustard pie! read more

Nice addition to the neighborhood the slices are pretty good, a bit fancy, with a delicious crust one of the best crusts in the city actually it'd be better if they had fresh slices but like most pizzerias now they'll have eight specialty pies so they can charge more money so you get less fresher, plain slices, but the slice is pretty good much better than Gloria's around the corner which tries to save money by just putting a few drops of cheese per slice. The cheesesteak was good. Didn't really blow my mind. I have to say it's very strange. They have a refrigerator that you have to bend down to get a soda and they have no fountain soda, which really is a must for pizza and cheesesteaks hope they can put a old-school fountain soda dispenser amidst all of the weird marble that they have in the restaurant. We ordered from Uber Eats to try this new to Forest Hills restaurant. We ordered the tomato pie and the Philly cheese steak. The tomato pie was kind of dry. My husband and I both rated it a 7 out of 10. The cheese steak disappointed. I did order extra mozzarella. The bread was really good. The sandwich however had virtually no cheese, very little of their special garlic sauce and was super dry. The sandwich does not come with onions or peppers and it really needed them. So we rated the Philly cheese steak a 5. Sorry Lillo you need to improve. read more

2 weeks ago I would've given lillos a 4.5. That rating has dropped to 2 for the following reason. They are massively skimping on toppings. I ordered a meat lovers pizza pie about two weeks ago during their soft opening. The pizza was phenomenal. I had guests over and they thought it was phenomenal also. Three days later, we ordered another meat lovers pie from there. This time the toppings went from 100% down to 40%. I even went to the store to give some feedback on this Penny wise dollar foolish strategy. The woman behind the counter was lovely and has always been great. She said she would give the information to the owners. Today I picked up two slices of the meat lovers pizza. Using my original scale, the amount of meat toppings was down to 10%. This is typical of a lot of restaurants they start off strong. They attract people who are pleasantly surprised at first, and then they nickel and dime and destroy the product. Very sad. read more
