First off, my Lomo Sotaldo didn't disappoint. My companion's salad was a $12 joke. Obnoxiously loud with people, TV blaring, AND full blast music... the disappointment started with the hostesses, who were kinda bitchy. We had a reservation, and they acted like we were interrupting. My companion ordered chicken with the salad, couldn't understand the server's questions and was (understandably) appalled when a bird showed up. Yes, a bird. We sent it back. We asked for bread. They don't HAVE bread. Yes, correct. They don't have bread. We asked for water with no ice, which wasn't conveyed to the water server... it was a whole shit-show. For what they charge, service was sadly lacking. My food was good, but I won't be back. read more

Only commenting on my takeout experience. Went to the hostess/ pickup area to pick up my whole chicken order with extra Aji sauce, it came up to $33.50 so I gave them $40. The guy went to the bar and Dropped $6.00 with the receipt and left with a quickness. I looked at the receipt and it said I was supposed to get $6.50 back. So I'm thinking I'm missing $0.50 So the hostess at the counter asked me what was wrong I told her I'm short-changed and she said "we round it up to the nearest dollar. " I said then "round it to $7 I'm missing a dollar." She looked the receipt and said "Oh yeah sorry, because it's $33.50 we charge you $34.00 because we don't have change. I'm sorry it's not fair but, so sorry." She admitted to wrong-doing. So lame, if you're not gonna give me exact change then round it down and give me $33. Don't do a customer dirty and short change them!!! WTF?! It's not my fault YOUR restaurant don't have coins for change!!! It's not my fault that you guys are unprepared (this was way after opening lunch hour at 1PM) and dishonest about it. If I had known that your restaurant was unprepared and had not change in your till. Then be honest and tell me before you took my cash! I would have paid in credit card for you to charge me correctly. Limón, you better come correct and get it together. You lost a loyal customer because you can't get .50 cents right. It might sound small to some, but to me it's the principle of running an ethical/honest business, and apparently not small enough for the staff at Límon rotisserie to make it right either. read more

I've only ever gotten the rotisserie chicken plates and honestly they're really good and the portions are pretty big for the price. I'm giving my 5 stars to the cheese empanadas, they are the star of the show. read more

My husband and I tried Limon for the first time last night. Fortunately, I scheduled an 8 PM reservation on open table. When we arrived the place was packed, though we were seated immediately which we really appreciated! To start, my husband ordered a pisco sour and I had a La Bomba de Amor. Both were very tasty! For our meal, we shared the ceviche de Pescado, which happened to be snapper. It was very fresh and flavorful, though we found the sauce that it was served in to be quite tart. We requested the passionfruit preparation and expected there to be a slight sweetness to it, but there was not. We also shared the quinoa salad, which we both loved! It was light and fresh and we really enjoyed it. Our third dish was the Poke Loco. Again, very fresh fish but a little too salty for my liking. My husband disagrees with me on that though. He thought it was extremely flavorful. He also ordered the pollo empanadas and said they were very good. We skipped dessert because we were both full, but it was sure tempting, as the selections sounded really good! Our server, Oscar, despite being very busy, was still attentive, which we appreciated. One thing to note is that the restaurant is extremely loud. It's a little difficult to have conversation because of the noise level. Would not stop us from returning, but good to know in advance so you know what to expect. Overall we enjoyed our meal and would return again in the future. read more

If you're driving off the 680 and you're coming into the Walnut Creek area take North Main and check out Lemone this this place has a really nice appeal to it the ambience it's kind of loud it's pretty spacious but they do have outdoor seating so when it's not hot you can sit out there or even if it's cold in the outdoor seating they have heaters set up in areas to keep the eating area nice and toasty the staff is real friendly. I came in the visit for a work vendor meeting I was a bit early so I sat at the bar and got me the old fashion made with Don. The bartender was really friendly very welcoming and offered water and drink ideas as well as food to eat on while I wait for my party The table sitting area has a long bench and tables with chairs as well as chairs and tables in the middle so there's a lot of space in there they do have Nice bathrooms if you need to use it while you're visiting locating the back of them restaurant. I got the Loma saltado with beef which is the main one the flavor was amazing as well as the rice was fluffy the only problem was my steak was kind of chewy for being medium rare but that didn't stop me from eating it because the sauce made up for the cook differently meat than what I asked or am used to. We also got their version of paella which was pretty tasty and a really good size of food if your hungry but again my go to is my meal that I just spoke about kind of chewy could've been cooked better but still enjoyed my experience at this restaurant the drinks and dessert the Tres leches was great as well as their chocolate and their Peruvian coffee if you're in the area check it out made a few friends or go by yourself to the bar enjoy a few drinks during happy hour and go home read more

Limon is what I want Walnut Creek to have: more food variety to just standard American food or mediocre Chinese/Asian food. Finally, we get a decent Peruvian restaurant that serves delicious cocktail, rotisserie chicken and solid ceviche. I love the casual yet fun vibe and the wait staff is friendly. It did take us a while for services though so I think they need to be more attentive or staff up. I love their Yuka fries and the dipping sauce for the rotisserie chicken is creamy and spicy. Chicken is tender and juicy. Their mac and cheese is actually pretty good too. My son really enjoyed it and it is very cheesy ;) It is not an inexpensive restaurant so do prepared to pay $20 for a bird vs $8 at Whole Foods. read more

I'm a fan of Peruvian food and my aunt had been telling me that next time I come up she knows of a good spot. Well the time came and she kept her word on dinner and we ended up at Limon. It's located in downtown Walnut Creek with lots of other restaurants. The restaurant wasn't too big with seating in and outside. Atmosphere inside is loud with music in the background and casual nice. It was busy and for table we would wait about 20 minutes but we decided to air at the bar. They have a fully stocked bar and you can order food as well. We were helped fairly quick by the bartender and we ordered to Peruvian beers Cusqenia which were in a bottle and they provided a cold glass cup. The beer was tasty. We ordered cheese and steak empanadas along with a quarter chicken plate. The empanadas were delicious. Honestly I could have eaten a half of dozen if in front of me. The stark one with seasoned perfectly and the cheese ones were so nicely heated that the cheese was pulling as you bit. The pastry was perfectly cooked. It came with a yellow ají sauce which was the star. Put a little in any bit and the food just came to life in your mouth. I could hear others sitting at the bar raving about the sauce. The chicken plate is rotisserie chicken breast and wing. It was seasoned so good that the skin on it was so tasty alone. The chicken was moist as well. We ordered it with a side of green beans in a garlic sauce and a rice and bean mix they call tuca tuca. The rice and beans were mixed together so that you couldn't a see the beans but made it pasty. Again with the ají sauce it was a hit. I would have tried a dessert but we had another place in mind. Service was quick and great. Mehhh food. Never really a fan of overpriced food but I knew that coming in to this restaurant. I can't complain much about my experience here. When handed my receipt to pay, there was a surge charge of 4%. I asked my server what was that for and she said it's for employees. Not clear what is it for but 4% is a small amount so I let it go. If I have a pet peeve, I would say, it would be a "suggested" tip that starts from 18%, 20%, and 22% in big buttons. They take your payment in front of you and you won't have much time to think how much you really want to tip. So, tip + surcharge was an overkill for me. read more

Visited Limon on a Saturday evening at around 5:30. We were able to get a seat without a reservation. Food was great but the service poor. We ordered three dishes from an appetizer with two entrees. The appetizer unfortunately arrived last while the first entree arrived within minutes of our cocktails being delivered to our table. The LINGUA entree was beautifully plated and preparation was perfect. The tongue was lightly grilled and soft. This is when we had to wait for the second entree which was the rotisserie chicken. It took a good 15 minutes before being served. Our last dish which was supposed to be our appetizer - calamari arrived to our table while we were almost finished with our rotisserie chicken. Food was great, service poor. The manager was out on the dining room and ensured the dining room was clean seeing him pick up trash from the floor which was great; However, he needs to spend more time on the floor with the guest to make sure there isn't a lapse in service that we experienced that night. read more

The map on Yelp does not do it's location justice, and I will admit to having circled three times, once even going onto Commercial Lane because of how the map looked. I stumbled across this restaurant when looking for a place to eat with my cousin, and saw the reviews, menu and that it was a Peruvian spot, so I decided to suggest it... I was lucky enough to find metered parking right in front, with the last 30 minutes already paid! But there is a notable parking garage just a few spots down across the street that came out to $1.00 for my cousin during our almost 2 hours there. We were offered immediate seating outside, and informed that there are space heaters, so we decided to take the seat.. plus, it was way too loud inside. There was a larger group behind us causing tables to be joined together, this limited the amount of space for me to scoot back and for the servers to walk through, so I just saw at a 90degree angle from my cousin. The menu is sweet and simple. One elongated sheet, double sided, and well labeled. Our orders were quickly taken, and came out in a good time frame. Emptied plates were also collected in a timely manner to allow more space to eat since the table was just meant for two with individual plates (we shared our dishes). Ordered: - El Pollo a la Brasa, Half Chicken (sides: Tacu Tacu, Papas Fritas) - Carne Empanadas - Pisco Sour - Coke (canned) The Chicken came cut into four pieces. We ordered the Tacu Tacu (beans and rice) and Papas Fritas (french fries) as our side dishes. The chicken was delicious, well-seasoned and definitely far from dry. The Carne Empanadas came with two, and came out first.. they were flavorful and I wish a little bigger, but if one person were to eat both for him/herself, it'd be a good size. This was my second Pisco Sour, so I can't say much comparative-wise, but it had a good balance of flavor to it (meaning not too sour), and still had that *kick* to get to you.. it also came in a cup larger than I was expecting. And lastly, their sodas come in cans... Would I return? Yes, I've already told my fiance that we're eating there next time we have time to go out. Reallly great food but definitely over priced and absolutely everything is extra. I have never been to a place that charges you extra for the chips that come with ceviche. And a side of hot sauce is an additional charge. I'm honestly surprised they didn't charge for a second glass of water. Friendly host seated us right away for our reservation during the busy dinner hour. Beverages were offered shortly upon being seated. Ambiance was good; lighting was appropriate; not too dark on the patio, and was moderately loud, as opposed to the inside dining area. Ordered a dish with half-chicken; the chicken was barely warm, but has good flavor. The only area of improvement that I would suggest to the staff is to refrain from offering to box up food as the patrons are clearly consuming the dish and repeatedly declined. Felt rushed. I'll start with the service, although I sat at the bar ( wasn't greeted at the door as I noticed several other guests were, nor when I left) and didn't have a cocktail you would still expect the bartender to be attentive to my needs being the server. So to start things off he politely took my order but was rather nonchalantly and wasn't engaging in conversation of me just asking a few questions about the restaurant. I received my food sooner than expected from the servers which was great and unexpected but I had to get the bartender's attention long after I had finished my first glass of water. Upon finishing my lunch, I noticed he had other customers to attend to which I completely understood. So I patiently waited while observing that the guys a few seats down from me had ordered their drinks and the bartender had resorted to engaging in random conversation. At this point I gave suggestive eye contact to let him know that I would like the bill being as though his attention was completely diverted and my dinner plates would have revealed that as I had pushed them aside. Appointment ran late so I didn't get to eat lunch until 2:30pm today. Headed downtown. Today's decision on where to dine was made in part because of the food but mostly not. Decided on restaurant based on number of diners and ease of parking. Got parking directly in front of Limon so decided to eat here. Lunch rush was over but the restaurant was still about 1/3 full. Hostess seated me immediately but server was a no show for almost 10 minutes. I was seated in her direct line of sight so I think she felt obligated to help me. She ended up serving me water and taking my order. Just as I was finished making my choices, the server bustled up. I've been to Limon in the city several times and have always ordered their famous roast chicken. Decided to try something new. Got the veggie empanada instead. Two hand pies filled with a flavorful melange of veggies including peas and spinach. The dough was light. The empanadas were deep-fried but didn't taste greasy. Good by itself or a squeeze of lime. Don't think the sauce accompaniment added anything so left it off after the first bite. Highly skeptical about my next dish, the lengua or beef tongue. I've had lengua before, skewered and grilled in a Japanese izakaya restaurant or boiled, chopped and stuffed in a Mexican burrito. The meat can be tough if undercooked. Or if the skin isn't peeled off, you will literally be chewing on leather. The disaster can also go the opposite extreme if the meat is overcooked and turns to mush. Limon's interpretation was excellent, soft and tender but with some chew. For dessert, I tried the tres leches cake. Nice presentation and tasty enough but didn't think it was anything special. Also, too sweet. Not worth the calories. Skip. Overall, a casual but hip place to eat. Very industrial chic but uncomfortable dining space. Even though the room was not even half full, the noise was overly loud. Too many hard surfaces bouncing and amplifying the sound. Not enough soft surfaces to absorb and deaden the cacophony of conversations and music. This is the place to eat if you want to see and be seen, not necessarily for a cozy date night or business lunch if you need to make conversation and do actual business. Also, while sleek, the wooden banquette was hard on the tush. A middling 3 star review. Unfortunately, concessions to comfort weighed as much as the quality of the food in deciding how many stars to bestow for the final score. read more

I chose this place for an office dinner and it did not disappoint. It's a little hard to find, the Lyft driver went right by it. It's not a large restaurant, it's long and skinny inside. You first notice the amazing smell of the marinated meats that are being grilled in the open kitchen area. We had a reservation but ended up waiting a while for the table. For a Monday night, this place was slammed. I'm glad our table wasn't ready because we got to chat with the bartender. She's really pretty and had such efficient, fluid rhythm when she was making drinks. I was very impressed and told her so, she said it's because she had to make them fast. The cocktails on the menu are not easy, most requiring lots of steps and ingredients. The fussy prep paid off because the two cocktails and sangrias we had were delicious. Our waiter was excellent and ably suggested things to the braver amongst our group. The ceviches were the most amazing I have ever had. Some folks said they were spicy, though I didn't think so. The ceviche combo comes with shrimp, red snapper, and the octopus with shrimp. The sauce and fish were expertly made and tasted beyond this world. Get chips, they're like plantain chips or something. The members of my party who ordered the grilled chicken won the food lottery since those come with the great meat you smelled coming in along with great string beans and fancy, fat French fries. I ordered the chicharonne (sp?) pollo, which ended up being fried chicken parts with a side of tangy sauce that was similar to the ceviche sauce. It was good, it reminded me of the fried chicken you get at korean places, but it wasn't the kind of dish I wanted that night. Bathrooms were nice, they have four gender neutral stalls that are kept clean. I would love to visit this place again if I'm in the area. read more
