Our family had Mother's Day dinner at Limon in Walnut Creek. It was a wonderful experience. Everything we ordered was delicious and we tried many of the different dishes. However, what really took it up a notch was our server, Roberto. He was attentive and gave us good recommendations when we asked him. He was also a lot of fun and made us feel very welcome at the restaurant. We will definitely be coming back and I'm going to ask to sit in his section L O L. Gave home many times here got brought here by a good friend and i absolutely love it the people that work here are attentive and it's very clean and not crowded it gets loud but not enough we're you can't hear your conversation. Evil! Flat out evil! I called Limon two weeks before Thanksgiving. Our kitchen was torn up for repair work and I needed to find a place that would be open on Thanksgiving for takeout. Rotisserie chicken and sangria sounded nice. Yes, yes, they assured me. They would be open for takeout. No need to place an order in advance. Just call that day. Great! I invited my family. We reviewed the menu and discussed what sides to order. I called on Thanksgiving to order and guess what? Limon was closed! They had lied to me about being open. Why would they lie to me about being open on Thanksgiving? Who does that? I am very disappointed and angry. I dined here a few times before COVID and and have gotten takeout since then. Dropping my previous 4 star review to 3 as this time around I sat at the bar asked for a ceviche and nothing for 15 minutes asked the bartender again and he nodded as if he is following up on it. 10 min later still nothing we asked him by and told him to cancel it. He left and came back saying what happened was that they were out and someone '86' the order and did not mention to him. I asked was this the first time we put the order in with you or the second time. Now we are 40 min into the experience and still no food. With that said to be fair the bartender was extremely busy and working fast and hard. I blame the management as he should've had another person with him behind the bar. I surprised my bestie with a new to her restaurant for her Birthday and it couldn't have been better. @limonrestaurants y'all killed it! I got Arroz con Mariscos which in layman's terms was a seafood rice. Mussels, Clams, Jumbo shrimp, fish, and calamari in a beautiful saffron rice. Kristen tried Arroz con Pollo which loosely translates to chicken and rice. It was the very best rice I've ever had! She said she really enjoyed it she also got the empanada sampler. One filled with beef, olives and raisins, one with vegetarian things, one chicken, and one Oaxacan cheese. Delicious, beautifully presented, and very fragrant. We also ordered tacu tacu, which is yet another type of rice and bean mixed together in a large football shape. I can't rave enough. If you've never tried Peruvian food, this is the place to try it! The only thing I didn't like was the $2 charge for each tiny side of sauce and they didn't do anything for her birthday. No singing, no dessert, not even a "happy birthday" from the waiter. Limon is by far one of my favorite tapas restaurants. There are many locations to choose from (SF x2, Walnut Creek, Burlingame). The Walnut Creek location is great as you don't have to fight City traffic or parking, but their food is always consistently excellent. It is always a good idea to make a reservation here and it is a must if you're bringing a large group. We went to this location for my birthday with a party of 12. Our server handled our lively group quite well and offered up some suggestions when needed. I love ordering family style here as you get to get a good variety of food. We ordered a whole chicken (the chicken is a must when at Limon and can be ordered in different sizes) with papas fritas (fries) and green beans, ceviche trio, yuca fries, and ALL the empanadas (carne, chicken, veggie, and cheese). The empanadas, 3 per order, come with a delicious sauce (same for all). It is hard to pick a favorite, but my top two are cheese and veggie. The cocktail, wine and beer menu are so great that it's hard to choose. Their pisco sours are excellent! Pro tip: go to Limon hungry and ready to feast! read more

So I came here mid-week about 4pm and it was empty, which was fine w/ me. Portion size was small for the price! For $14 I bought the quarter leg (white meat) w/ 2 sides. I didn't like the yucca fries because they had no flavor! I was disappointed because I'd never had them before and was looking forward to it. I was also shocked they only gave me 4 fries!? I wanted green beans and was told they were out (I read about this from other reviewers so I wasn't surprised) and that it was "seasonal." Seasonal!? Umm..I thought green beans were year-round? Anyway, I got zucchini which was fine cuz I eat it all the time at home. The zucchini could've been more seasoned too. The chicken was moist and seasoned. The famous "yellow sauce" was ok, it tasted like mustard w/ some other spices. My dad got the ceviche w/ shrimp. He said it was good but didn't like the tanginess to it- like it had vinegar in it or something. Again, his portion size was small for $13 PLUS $3 for chips! My boyfriend and I went there last Sunday evening. I am Peruvian, so I wanted him to try my country's cuisine. I heard of El Limon before and saw that it had good reviews, but the food was simply an embarrassment to my country. The quality of service and the portions as well as the low quality of ingredients were so poor that I was absolutely dismayed. We ordered half a chicken: two tiny portions with dry fries and no salad (sorry, they ran out), so zucchini instead? The chicken was soft and super salty. The ají that came with it tasted like mustard with lemon (I don't even know how to describe Clearly, we were still hungry, so we ordered empanadas. Tiny fried?!! Empanadas with a mozzarella?!! (In Peru, mozzarella is not used in high quality restaurants instead Queso Fresco is the norm) cheese stick stuck inside. The waiter barely showed up once to refill our water. He even gave us the check before we asked for it. Was he kicking us out? Absolutely horrible experience. I was so ashamed that I did not dare comment on the food. I'll never come back to this place! In all honesty, I hope there is an improvement and soon. (I don't usually write one star reviews as you can see in my history, but this was one of the worst dinning experiences I had around the area. Gotta update my review after five years. Limón has been a favorite since La Misíon. Walnut Creek is certainly not a food Mecca but it's closer, so it's been a regular for the past five years. We forgave the fact that the chicken is clearly prepared in advance and far less tasty. Tonight we began with the Jalea, which was obviously overcooked. The waitress tried to excuse it with, "That's how they make it." No!! A new one arrived and, while better, was only slightly so. Ordered a martini but the bartender eventually came over to take my order because the waitress thought I'd ordered a daiquiri(!). She left only to return to say "No Tanqueray" gin--really. This place has been hit and miss for awhile. Tonight it was another miss and we're going elsewhere for an entree. read more

This place is soooo good! The food is phenomenal, the service is amazing, drinks are on-point every time, and it's actually fun to be here. More so than you expect just going to a hoppin, loud WC restaurant. There's a vibe to Limon. You have to visit to feel it. We've ordered take-out more than a handful of times as well, because the Poli Papas and Empanadas are just that good! :) The sauce that comes with them should be bottled and sold by the gallon. I visited Limón Rotisserie on a Saturday with a friend. It was our first time here. The aroma when you walk into the door is indicative of the flavor that lies ahead. We sat at the bar & was served by Miguel. He was awesome! We had a sangria pitcher to drink. It was "just right." Found my new favorite spot in Walnut Creek! This one checks all the boxes for me. The location is on Locust street next to some other great restaurant options but this one stands out from the crowd. The ambience is fantastic as it feels like a minimalistic Latin flair. The atmosphere tends to be loud because the tables are so close together and it has been packed every time we visit. The drinks are so good! Since it is a Peruvian restaurant they focus primarily on the Pisco Sours with brandy. I've had a few different ones there and have yet to be disappointed. Additionally, the chicken is to die for. Rotisserie's have to get the flavor and juiciness right and they do. The sauces that you get with the chicken meals is unbelievable as well. It's like a yellow curry type that is hard to describe but you must get it when you go. The prices are pretty affordable for downtown Walnut Creek these days. Perfect late night dinner! I came here with my husband last minute around 10pm. I was really excited that they close at 11 because it's really hard to find local popular restaurants open that late. We enjoyed our meals and had a good time! Our server was great and constantly checked up on us making sure we had everything we needed. The truffle Mac n cheese was delicious and one of my top FAVORITE. I forgot the name of a hot plate but it was shrimp with mash potatoes which was so good!!!
