Not worth paying $78 for a fish. This place is nice but the food is not. I read reviews saying people got food poisoning and when I got the mussles they smelled like ass. No joke, like ass. We complained and got calamari instead better than the mussles but nothing special. We got lamb chops which were good but again nothing was any special. Basically if you're looking for a fancy overpriced place with cheap food this is the place to go. read more

Best fish I've ever eaten. Had a wonderful meal here on February 12, 2010 Appetizers: Arugula Salad - perfect starter, with feta and thinly sliced heirloom tomatoes hidden at the bottom Patzaria - roasted beets and skordalia (a delicious garlicky puree) Langoustines - DON'T DO IT! At $60/pound, that's just stupid money. Nothing special, and with all the great things on the menu, there's no reason to order it. Entree: the best fish I've ever eaten. Our group ordered the Dover sole, the Royal Dorado, and the sea bass. All were cooked perfectly - they cook all their fish the same, sprinkled with fresh parsley and capers. For dessert, we tried the baklava, Karidopita (walnut sponge cake) and chocolatina. All in all, a great meal in a beautiful setting, with excellent service. One more thing - great chairs with nice squishy seats, most with arms. Somebody was paying attention. (And the napkins were velvet-soft. I'm not sure that matters to anyone, but it was noticeable to me.) The only negatives were the price and the music - the pounding bass sounded like there was a wedding going on upstairs. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Limani is by far one of the worst restaurants I've been to in a very, very long time! Arrival, We went there for Sunday brunch and things were wrong from the moment we arrived in their lot. You're forced to valet park. A classy place will give you the option to self or valet park, but a wannabe kind of joint fails to give you that option. First Impressions, The attitude continued inside Limani. Almost immediately after getting to the table we were accosted by one busy body after another asking the same annoying questions while trying to force unwanted beverages on us. I don't know who the owners are or the manager is but they should train their waiters before letting them loose on customers. Only a moron would equate clumsy over-service with quality. Then I asked about their espresso and the waiter replied, "its good, very fresh" as if I was asking about their fish. Obviously he knew nothing about coffee and still worse was ignorant of their own. My friend enquired about their teas and he came back with "Lipton?"! A $50/head brunch with high end pretensions offering the worst and cheapest brand of tea. While waiting I felt that my chair was a bit shaky and the handle was about to come off. Then I noticed how tattered most of the furniture was in this place, obviously picked-up used, very used. The linen wasn't much better either, my napkin was old and frayed and table cloth was old and soiled. Not in a charming cozy way, just old and used. Food, I kept the worst for last. The espresso arrived luke warm and watery, in a day and age when a $250 automatic machine delivers a great cup with a full head of creme, somehow the great Limani can't even get that right. The cappuccino was no better, the same brown wate but with soap suds, it doesn't take much to do it right but you need someone who knows and cares to teach the staff. As expected the tea wast just a low end supermarket brand tea bag, might as well ordered the Lipton! Started with the breakfast counter where a couple of guys dressed in chef costumes stood behind tall counter that they barely reached. Grabbed what looked like an egg benedict and asked for some additional bernaise sauce. Of course the egg was cold and the sauce tasteless and cold so I thought that I should try the omelette since they were supposedly making it from scratch. Asked for an egg white omelette and I see one of the gents in the chef costume pull out a supermarket carton of egg whites to make the omelette. I can see that in a $3 menu at a Truck Stop but not at the great Limani, foolishly I expected real eggs. Gave up on the eggs and went over to the so called sushi counter were an old Chinese gentleman dressed in a supermarket style Japanese Sushi chef costume served their pathetic rolls. One look at them and you'd know whoever made them was clueless, probably couldn't even pronounce Sushi no less make it. Of course it had to be the king and queen of cheap supermarket rolls, Spicy Tuna which is minced mystery fish with a ton of spicy mayo to cover the crappy taste and the Bland Whatever roll made with stale avocado and pretend crab meat. They didn't even get the rice right. I was really hungry so against my better judgement gave the Spicy Tuna a try; I shouldn't have! Hungry with empty plates in hand my friend and I strolled over strolled over to the seafood island where he went for a small lobster, he shouldn't have! The next island had something looking like cheese cubes but unfortunately someone must have mistaken the bar of soap for cheese. Next to the soap was a bowl of sad looking leaves that obviously came from prepackaged mixed green bags, again sold in any supermarket. At this point we decided to blow this joint, just pay and leave and head over to a decent place where you pay for quality and not fake bling. To add insult to injury we noticed that the brown waters and the teabag weren't included in $50/head brunch. Limani is a joke and nothing more than a con, the absolute worst. I'm certain that the good reviews where either from friends or those who were fooled by the high ceilings and the structure of the place they rent. read more

After reading a Newsday review we decided to try the brunch. Defrosted Lenders bagels, over cooked lamb,commercial pastry, defrosted lobster and shrimp all at the fair price of fifty dollars a head!!! I haven't been back to Limani since they first opened back in 2008 and a friend invited me to dinner so I happily accepted her invitation. As a regular on the Long Island dining circuit, there are so many restaurants that come and go and not as many that stand the test of time. Limani is absolutely top notch. From the moment we arrived the valet whisked our car away and we suddenly entered an Grecian oasis. We were greeted by the manager Kyriakos (who is quite handsome and worth the trip to the restaurant alone). We decided to enjoy the outdoor dining area since it was a beautiful June night and much more intimate in my opinion. The wait staff Romel and Nestor tended to our every whim and made the our experience a memorable one. The service was impeccable, somehow my martini glass was never empty and they made sure the drinks were flowing. In speaking with the manager and him being Greek, we allowed him to select our menu options which we couldn't have been happier with. When I dine, I like for it to be an experience and rely on the staff to guide me on their best menu items. We started with the classic tomato salad which was delicious and the kolokithi (zucchini chips) which if you haven't tried, you are basically not living. Think of a delicious lightly breaded and fried potato chip, you're welcome. We also had the shrimp and the grilled octopus. You could immediately tell the freshness and that is was of sashimi quality. For our entrees we had the branzino and the lamb chops (seasoned and grilled to perfection) both dishes were outstanding. While the food was incredible, what was even better was the attention to detail and the service. On a busy Friday night, the manager kept tending to us making sure each dish was prepared to our liking. I will definitely be back to Limani. read more

Went to Limani on February 27, 2016 as a party of five. What I enjoyed was that it wasn't too packed yet since we went at around 5. 4/5 decided to do the pre fixe menu and they allowed it to be as such which was excellent. Usually restaurants make everyone participate in the pre fixe, but not the case here. Everything was delicious from the spanakopita to the calamari, lobster bisque, chicken soup, and garden salad. This alone was just appetizers. To say the least it was a lot of food and we all left stuffed and happy. I will be back. read more

This place has the most beautiful atmosphere and ambiance. The price fixes for lunch and dinner are great. Their seafood is top notch and the appetizers are delicious. The bar area has cozy intimate seating and their outside is a nice atmosphere as well. Saturdays here are very busy, so those who don't like it being too loud -- come earlier! We had reservations and requested a side table as it was a 60th birthday. We were seated in the middle of the room, even though we were the only people on that side. We asked for a side table and were moved. We ordered drinks, the white Sangria which was good. The food...average at best! The chicken soup was good and the grilled octopus was fantastic. My calamari was below average and so were the gigantes and not what I would expect from an upscale Mediterranean restaurant. I have had better at many other places. My husband and mother's lamb was very good, but my lobster was BURNT!!! The spinach must have had triple doses of salt put on it, and we could not eat it. The water never bothered to come over to see how the meal was, so I left an entire lobster on the plate and was not even asked why. I do not even know where to begin on this restaurant...The service? The ambience? The staff? The food?! It was all absolutely AMAZING! I came with my boyfriend for our anniversary this past Saturday night. The hostesses greeted us and took our coats - they were so sweet. They checked us in and within only a few minutes we were seated! Something rare for such a popular restaurant....We had a great table by the windows in the back area, the perfect spot for a date night. Our waiter was so attentive and kind as well as the rest of the staff. We ordered the octopus salad, oysters and fried calamari as our appetizers and royal dorado as our main. Everything was so fresh it reminded me of my summer trip to Greece...The ambience was exactly what everyone had hyped it up to be. This was really a meal that I was looking forward to, beautiful decor, savory seafood...What's better? Unfortunately my expectations far exceeded the experience. We had a reservation Saturday night 8:30, four people. We weren't seated anywhere near our reservation time, which wasn't a huge issue for me. The issue was that once we were seated, we didn't see a waiter forever. When he finally came over we ordered appetizers to start. We finished our appetizers, which happened to be very good, but still had not ordered our entrees. We couldn't get our waiter until the table was cleared to place our order. Of course by 11pm they were out of all of the fish we wanted so we were left ordering whatever was leftover. I had also ordered a glass of champagne and never saw it. The waiter shifted us to another server and never told us, so we had no idea who's attention we should be flagging down. We also ordered dessert (which they were mostly out of) and they made substitutions without telling us and just brought it to the table without a word. While the food was good (with the exception of the prawns; mushy and flavorless) the service was absolutely horrible. The good food was hampered by the terrible service...I had really wanted to try their brunch which I heard good things about, but after this, I don't know that I'm too eager to waste my Sunday morning. read more

They offer high-quality seafood selections; the restaurant has a seafood-focused menu. Went to Sunday brunch and sadly was very disappointed. I expected a river bay type of experience ...but the food was mostly sub par. First, it is a beautiful room and we had lovely service. The lobster and shrimp were excellent. But that is where it ends. The cold salads were an odd collection of undesirable things. They did have a tray of cheese cubes and prosciutto but no bread or crackers. The Nova Scotia was with these cold salads was a terrible quality, almost inedible. The only bread was some rye bread and fake bagels! No Danish, rolls, muffins, sweet rolls or bakery items of any kind. They had a few trays of mini desserts, including inedible mini cannolis (soggy shells, hardened weird whipped cream inside instead of cannoli filling). All the desserts were inedible...and don't expect even a cookie for the kids! The hot food included lots of different rice. Paella rice, fried rice, plain rice, and two tubs of potatoes. The moussaka was inedible because they forgot to cook the eggplant first! The bacon was located with the hot dishes rather than the egg station, which no one saw until the end. The bacon was good. The omelette station chef was very nice but had no idea what an omelette was...they made scrambled eggs with veggies or cheese mixed in. They tried to get you to take the cold already made French toast and waffles rather than making them fresh for each diner... the sushi really was sad...mostly rice, barely rolled California rolls and spicy tuna? But our group of 6 love lobster so it was a treat anyway. I would never go back. Insulting that they charge that kind of money for that mess! read more

Beautiful interior. Food was amazing. Only thing, I ordered a steak that was extremely thick without knowing and asking for medium cooked. I will say that they it was a bit dry and chewy. The food is great. I expected to pay a premium price but for the price of the Dorado I expected a bigger piece. I gave it 1 3 bc the manager was extremely rude, I wish I got his name. I was at a private party for work and I have celiac disease. I asked if the Greek yogurt for dessert was gluten free and he came over and laughed and said "all yogurt is free", several times mocking. He is wrong there is several yogurts that aren't. I don't need to be laughed at bc I have a disease and I have to follow strict menu. And then someone asked what kind of mild was in the pitchers. He aid "what ever kind of milk you ordered" several times again, laughing at us. We all said "we never ordered a specific type of milk". Very rude. I couldn't believe. No way in hell I'll go back there.There are a million good restaurants around. The service is much better at Kyma. read more

I went to Limani this past Saturday with a large party of 12. We were seated almost immediately by the manager in the large private room behind the wine cellars. We couldn't have asked for a better area because we were a little rowdy and didn't want to disrupt other guests. The 2 waiters introduced themselves as we walked in. George and Niko were very welcoming and made the experience even better as they were constantly on top of us making sure everything was satisfactory. Their professionalism was very much appreciated. The food was delicious and the desserts the waiters recommended were the perfect finishing touch. We will definitely be back soon. read more

I went to lunch with coworkers twice to this place. The first time food was ok. I had the greek salad and it was more like an appetizer but since the food took a long time to arrive in the first place I decided not to order anything extra. Second time I went here was today and I had the sea food pasta which my coworker recommended. I was half way through my food when i see a HUGE fly in it. Gross! I tell the waiter and he takes the plate back. He comes back a few minutes later to informed me that what I saw was a piece of vegetable. I'm like What!! there were no vegetables in that dish, its seafood with red sauce and pasta. He must have thought I'm blind or an idiot. Anyways, he ended up not charging me for the dish but I wont be coming back here. yuck! read more

I've been to limani regularly pre covid. This was my first time going back. Went in for brunch, but cam to find out they no longer serve their famous brunch buffet. It's a tiny menu and each entree for breakfast is almost the same as the price of the prior buffet...so, we decided to just order lunch instead. The truffled tarama was truly disappointing and I'm a huge truffle and tarama lover. It took over an hour for our food to come after the appetizers came and that was after askinv two staff members to please check on our food..we've never done that before. It was just an insane about of time for fish and a salad to be ready. Our drinks were never refilled and nobody came to ask. My pre fixed lunch was supposed to come with dessert, but was never offered a choice at the end of the meal. It took so long and the food was so disappointing that we opted to just go without dessert. I won't be back here. Kyma has much better food and service! read more

Sadly my once favorite restaurant is losing its lustre. Very sad. Was there twice in the last month. The first time service was off the charts bad...even two tables next to us were complaining. Finally called over manager, who was super responsive and made it right but really it was not a great experience DESPITE the food being very good. Went two nights ago as a group and this time it was even worse. The service was horrible, totally lacking, several times we had to look for the waiter. Fish came and for the first time ever was not great.....we had two, branzino and dorado and neither were great. The appetizers were very good. But really whats getting me is the service- there is no excuse especially at that price point (on average easily $110 a person) with wine. I may have to start going back to Kyma again until Limani gets things right. read more

Unlimited lobster... Came here for brunch, I like this restaurant because it isnt too stuffy. The waiters are nice & attentive and dont stare you down when you grab two lobsters onto your plate. They had the best carving board for lambchop, it was absolutely delicious. The lamb melted in my mouth, it was so soft, juicy & not too gamey. The best lamb I ever had. The brisket however was dry & hard. The lobsters were chilled and tasted fresh, and not too rubbery. The rest of the brunch buffet was sorta sub par -- everything was under heat lamps and tasted like it was made hours ago. Their hot food selection were dry & tasteless. Their tiny dessert bar was great....I loved all the pastries. Probably won't be back here though... read more

I wouldn't order the lobster pasta here. I went out with my husband for a date night. I had to bite down on small pieces of hard lobster shells TWICE. Apparently they did not do a good job removing the shells. It was very unpleasant and upsetting. What if you break your teeth? If I have ordered $15 lobster, I would not mind so much, but this restaurant was not. We mentioned that to our waiter and he said he might serve us desserts or something. Since we were full at that time, we said we were full. And after that there was really nothing. I was upset by their food and service. Light and airy classic decor and amazing Greek food. I had an array of choices off the menu, including hummus appetizer, stuffed calamari, spanakopita, kolokithi, and the Greek spreads. One word, delicious! I then had the arugula salad and for main course the royal dorado. They completed each other well and I paired the fish with a delicious, light white wine recommended by my waiter. We ordered traditional Greek cookies and baklava in addition to one other dessert that I can't recall but I have to say everything was exceptional. I highly recommend this venue.
