I had the Caprese with Prosciutto and it was perfection. The bread was nice and soft. The tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil were all super fresh. The prosciutto was nice and thin and had good flavor. This place is really unique! Loads of high quality Italian products; biscuits, cakes, jams, olive oils, dried spices, sauces, cured meats etc.. and the most diverse array of pastas I've ever seen! Their coffee is great (would be lovely for somewhere to sit down) and they have a large beer and wine selection too. There is also a deli counter, but I haven't tried the sandwiches just yet. This place is amazing. The coffee is Lavazza which is an authentic Italian brand. I've had lattes and espressos here and they were both delicious. I had the Milanese sandwich which was a delight. Everything was so fresh: the cheese, meat, peppers, and bread, everything in the right proportion. I wish I had taken a picture but I ate it all before I realized that I should have. I'm so happy this place opened in my neighborhood. I used to go to Whole Foods for coffee and sandwiches, but I'll be going here now. read more

I'm so happy this place is close to my office, as there are so few other good options in the area. This is no ordinary corner market. They have great sandwiches (the Toscano is my fave!) and really yummy Italian snacks, specialties, and wine. My husband's family is Sicilian and so I was really excited when I realized they have more than just great sandwiches for lunch, but have other hard to find things and a great Italian wine selection. 1) Chris (Jalal!) is awesome just like everyone else has said - super friendly just chit chatting while he makes your sandwich bespoke and giving samples of the meats/spreads he's using in your sandwich. he brings everything that makes a great neighborhood spot great 2) the sandwiches are DELICIOUS and HUGE. if you're in the neighborhood and have completely abandoned Whole Foods sandwiches like i have (literally give you 2 slices of meat folded and that's it - a bread sandwich) then these are the polar opposite. the prices appear a little higher at first glance ($11-13) but you're getting 2-3x the ingredients and 10x the quality/deliciousness of other sandwiches so the price is a steal. i can barely finish one myself (but still do because they're so good!). all the ingredients are fresh and he loads up both meats and lettuce, onions, etc that all taste waaaay better than other places. have long waited for this corner to have a great neighborhood spot and this is it. awesome people + delicious ingredients + generous sandwiches. came back the next day after my first time - can't recommend this place enough! read more

Picked up the Siciliano sandwich after work from here - when placing the order, the owner gave me small slices of the meat and cheese, as well as a small slice of bread with the spicy oil to be added to the sandwich (all of which is delicious!) They have a large selection of wine at reasonable prices - in fact, I find most items in this store reasonable for the selection. Lots of imported Italian food, including nice dried pasta and sauces. The sandwich was delicious - I'm sure the other sandwiches are great. The owner and his wife are welcoming. What a great addition to the neighborhood! I ordered the Milanese today and it was downright delicious. It was way better than I expected, and something I'll be going back for over and over. The sandwich was so enormous, I decided not to get any cake or anything to go with it, but I am sure I will go back another day for that. Sandwiches aside, what most impressed me was the little grocery section. It is full of yummy looking Italian foods - including even the unexpected, like lentils, polenta, figs soaked in honey, and many other specialty products. I am sure I'll be stopping by here on my way home from work to pick up a few ingredients once a week or so. Really impressed overall by this place - and of course the owner too.
