I added jalapeno and spicy sauce to The Goodfella and boy was it the best kind of fire you need. Yep, 5 stars great. Highly recommend that u add Spicy Spread. Its hot but flavorful (between banana pepper and jalapeno). The bread is chewy soft. The ingredients are fresh and clean. Went in at 12:30 sunday and was the only customer. I am extremely big on sandwiches and somewhat of an expert as I have tried almost all sandwiches around the US and I gotta say this is a legit Italian style deli. This neighborhood has really needed a deli, and this is such a great one! Lovely coffee, delicious sandwich options (they have Dutch crunch!), and can we talk about the desserts? They have NAPOLEON - my Russian heart just skipped a beat. Also great Italian grocery/snack options, with prices about on par, if not a little cheaper, than Lucca's on Valencia (in terms of jarred/dry goods). They've also got a cold case with packaged cheese and meats, including Olli salami for cheaper than I've seen it anywhere else (maybe I should get healthier obsessions?). Was looking for a sandwich to eat on this nice day and found a good 5 star deli close by and spent $50 for me and a coworker. Get sandwiches made and I asked for one with no Mayo add mustard. I get sandwich and it looks like Mayo and yellow mustard mixed together I go back in and say hey I think there's Mayo on this. the guy who took our order was very nice and professional and he looked at the sandwich and said it's no Mayo but it's dijon mustard, he offered me to just change the bread and put yellow mustard. I let them no I am allergic and The female owner with brown curly hair said did you tell him you want yellow mustard? Mmm no bc most places use yellow mustard but I am allergic so I would need the sandwich remade. Lady said I can't do that and was very rude. I said can I just get my money back. She said I'll be right back with someone who can help you. I'm waiting and a very rude man comes downstairs asking me what's the problem. I explain the problem and he asks the same thing his wife asked (the girl with brown curly hair) I let him know the same exact thing and let them know that I am on a time limit so I'll just take the refund. The male owner called me a white bitch, and put his finger in my face telling me get tf out his store. Then they had a couple call me names and told me that they would beat my ass if I didn't leave and rip my head off. This is the deli that has my favorite sandwich! the Good fellow! the meat tastes fresh, the place is clean, they are friendly, and every Saturday on my way back from buying groceries, i order one and they know exactly how I like it! I also seem them keep up with all health regulations and safety standers, and in this current environment it is important. I'm from the Philly area and since I've left the east coast, I've missed good Italian Sandwiches. This place has filled that void. It's not quick. It's not cheap. It's just really, really good. I've only worked my way through two offerings and there's a ton of options. They also don't grill most of their sandwiches, which I prefer, especially when you're using good Italian meat. Ordered a Caprese sandwich late evening. Was delicious - made better by Chris' suggestions to add things on ( a tasty spicy sauce and prosciutto). Best Caprese I've had in a long time. I like my bread to be a little more crisp/crusty, so my only suggestion would be to reconsider that. My co-workers and I were greatly anticipating the opening of this neighborhood deli and I have to say I am delighted I was not disappointed. The sandwiches are totally delicious and the one I ordered today, The Toscano, will probably be my go-to sandwich for lunch in the months ahead. You could definitely make two meals out of one. This is one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the sandwich (maybe Mafioso) but meatwise there was roast beef and bacon and prosciutto, all of the meat was top notch straight from italy. I also had a pistachio cake which was delicious, not overbearingly sweet like many other pistachio cakes I've had in the past. Chris, the owner was very nice and welcoming. Deli was renovated and taken over by new owners within the last year and I couldn't be more pleased!! This is a beautiful deli, but the sandwich was fair. Sandwich was cold, you could tell bread came out of freezer just before, I know this is common of DELI's but bread should be thawed completely before it goes out. Limoncello is a great addition to the neighborhood and a huge upgrade from the previous spot. The owners are extremely nice and they treat my dog to a slice of ham every time we come in. The sandwiches we ordered were very good and used really high quality meat. It reminded me of some of the bodega sandwiches you get from some spots in New York. I got the Veneziano; I could write epic poems about each mouth-watering ingredient but I'm still trying to process the fact that my first ever religious experience came from a freaking sandwich. I thought "sandwich artist" was just an ironic title Subway gave to its employees (no disrespect), but tonight I met an honest to god sandwich ARTIST. The owner is wonderful. He talked about every ingredient he was laying down on that heavenly sesame-seeded roll and gave us samples of each item as he explained where it came from. This is officially one of my favorite places to go for food in San Francisco. Not only do they have a great selection of Italian grocery products, their sandwiches are also delicious. You can tell that there's a passion for authentic Italian food here, and the people working there are so nice. I've just started working in sf and I've been here twice for lunch and each time I left very happy. Be mindful that if you know what you want it's best to order ahead of time since their sandwiches are pretty popular and some things like the meatball sandwich takes about 10 minutes to prepare. Stumbled upon this local gem and thanks to Chris it's my new favorite lunch stop. He's incredibly warm and friendly--we were chatting about sandwiches (as you do) and when I admitted I hadn't tried mortadella he slapped a slice into my palm before I could say, "Yum!"
