I enjoyed it so much that I may go again with my Hb because I think he will really enjoy this place, too. Last time we went to Limon was a while back. My friend loves their Ceviche and taro chips. I can see why. Not only was it beautifully plated, the seafood was fresh and delicious! We also enjoyed the Lomo Saltado. I think Limon makes a better version of the Lomo Saltado than the one I had with my family at the other Peruvian restaurant located at the waterfront. The sauce was so tasty and the steak pieces were seared perfectly. My friend also got the Pisco Sour and she enjoyed that with the food. 10/10 will visit again! We wanted to try a Peruvian restaurant and my hubby stumbled on this place. Restaurant is located in Valencia. Busy area with lots of stores and different types of restaurants and bars. Parking was hard to find especially on the weekend, but we found one a couple of blocks away. The host greeted us right by the door as you enter. We had a reservation so we were seated right away by the window. That was a plus! Nothing too exciting about the restaurant and the décor. The server was very nice and friendly. Answered several questions for us and provided some recommendations. For an appetizer, we started with Coliflor picante and truffle Mac and cheese. Wow the Coliflor was the bomb! It was so flavorful with the sriracha aioli, we could not stop eating it. The truffle Mac and cheese was also full of umami! It was delicious! Tell you the truth, we were already kind of full after eating these dishes. For our mains, we had the Arroz con Mariscos and Crispy pork belly Chaufa. The Arroz con Mariscos was packed with amazing flavors and spices. The rice and seafood were cooked perfectly. It was a really great dish presented on a cast iron. The Pork belly was great but there was too much rice!!! It needed more pork. My hubby did not enjoy it as much. He was a little disappointed that he did not get enough pork belly. Overall the atmosphere was cozy and we enjoyed ourselves. The appetizers were the highlight of the meal. Yummy!!! Next time will need to try their chicken dishes! I had dinner at Limón with a group of 6 friends on a Thursday night. This location is not too busy compared to the Walnut Creek and Oakland locations. It is smaller, with indoor seating only. The lighting is more dim and they have Peruvian music playing in the background. You can watch and hear the kitchen staff busily creating their dishes and you are adorned with the great smells of the food. I decided to try the crispy pork belly chaufa as I wanted a comfort meal in the cold weather. The portion sizes here are large and you can likely share dishes with your group. The meal comes in a large bowl and tray as it arrives fresh and hot so you just need to be careful with handling it right away. I appreciate the proportion of fried rice to pork belly. The rice itself is well-seasoned and has fresh slices of green onion, bits of pork belly, fried egg and carrots. The pork belly is the perfect thickness, as the edges are crispy and the interior is still soft and tender to bite into. The glaze is reminiscent of teriyaki and is sweet, sticky and delicious. This meal was very hearty and filling! The mango lemonade is very sweet and the mango is more overpowering. I liked it but I do prefer lemonade to still maintain a level of tartness so it's really up to your personal preference. Overall, you can't go wrong with dining here and I'd love to come back and try more items on the menu. read more

I spent $227 at Limón and unfortunately left feeling very disappointed by the service. Our server, Maria P., was rude, rushed, and inattentive throughout the meal. Our table was missing utensils, and despite multiple attempts to get her attention, we were ignored. What made the experience even more frustrating was watching her consistently check on and assist her other tables while ours was largely overlooked. We eventually had to ask the busboy for help because she never came back to provide the utensils or address our needs. When it was time to pay, Maria P. seemed visibly annoyed that I was paying in cash. She then counted the money directly in front of me, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. Whether or not that's restaurant policy, it was the first time I've experienced that after dining out. For a bill totaling $227, I expected a much higher level of customer service. Me and my friend love this place we come here very often. Honestly the only complaint I have it I hate the tables they are not barely big enough for one person let alone two lol I get it sf is small but man these tables are so cramped it's hard to enjoy eating the food. I've had a few different items and of them all the polli papas and cheese empanadas are my absolute favorite items. The roasted chicken with rice and veggies is also good. The other dishes I've tried were all fine too but the fries with chicken are just so good hard to top them read more

I made a reservation to meet a friend here and while they had my table ready promptly they did require the whole party to be present before being seated, just an FYI! I had a glass of wine at the bar while I waited. Overall was impressed with my meal and service!! We got the ceviche mixto, coliflor and ribeye and it was perfect for two people. I've been coming to Limon in San Francisco for well over 10 years, and it's still one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the city. I've even celebrated a few birthdays here over the years, which says a lot about how much I love this place. The food is incredibly consistent, and to be honest, I often come specifically for the ceviche clásico with fish. It's my favorite dish on the menu -- the sauce is so good I could literally drink it. Every time I order it, it's fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced. My go-to order is always the ceviche, the rotisserie chicken with their amazing yellow sauce, and their mac and cheese. Even if you normally don't like mac and cheese, you have to try this one -- it's rich, creamy, and completely addictive. And of course, you can't skip the pisco sours, which are always perfectly made. The service is consistently stellar, and the food is truly to die for. Had a reservation here Friday night at 9pm. It was a full house and we waited about 5-10 minutes to get seated. We ordered Saltado de pollo and Jalea, along with the chicha morada (non-alc) and Lycheemelon cocktail. The drinks came out first, just a FYI that the Lycheemelon was huge haha. Our food also came out SUPER quick which was a pleasant surprise. The saltado de pollo was alright, definitely lots of sauce, a bit too much in our opinion. Fries didn't have much flavor and texture wise were kinda just soggy from the sauce. On the other hand, I loved the Jalea -- everything was seasoned perfectly and just the right level of crispiness. The only thing I noticed was that the canchitas didn't really taste like anything / not seasoned or salted. Vibes were nice, it definitely gets really loud inside so it was a bit hard to have a conversation. Staff cleared our empty dishes quickly and seemed to be really attentive. They come to you to pay via POS reader/machine. Overall had an enjoyable time, would be down to come again if someone else suggested to try other dishes, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

Limón in the Mission is the original, popular restaurant with well-known family chefs and owners. I was surprised we immediately got a table for 2 without waiting, but maybe due to Tuesday night. The interior is beautiful, contemporary and airy. Acoustics are loud and echoing, so it's more of a family celebration or friends gathering place than romantic date spot. The wine list was a bit limited for San Francisco, but their craft cocktails were great. Service was pretty good, prompt and courteous. The Veggie Empanadas were probably the best I've had, even counting Lima. Perfect handmade casing, with rich and delicious truffle-infused mushrooms and Oaxaca cheese inside. So good, 2 for $13 but worth every bite! This was my favorite selection of the night. Mixto Clásico was standard, nothing exceptional, so I guess classic! I'll try a more adventurous ceviche next time. Similarly, I found the Arroz con Mariscos very good, particularly the head-on prawns, but we probably should've went with something more exciting. The rice was cooked right and there was enough seafood in the entree to split among the two of us. We'll come back to try other dishes, trying restaurant specialties rather than the clásicos. read more

came here with my boyfriend and his cousin , and overall the food and service were phenomenal. Everything we ordered was delicious, well-prepared, and absolutely lived up to the hype. You can tell a lot of care goes into the menu, and the dining experience itself was great. The only downside and the reason I'm not giving a full 5 star was the restroom situation. Toward the end of our meal, we tried to use the restroom, but the line was extremely long. After waiting about 15 minutes and hearing that the bathrooms weren't very clean anyway, we decided to just leave. What made this uncomfortable was that after we left, another server followed us outside insisting we hadn't paid our tab even though my boyfriend had already paid in full. It felt awkward and unnecessary, especially after such a great meal and it was dike looking Latino women who I know I said something. That said, the food truly was outstanding, and I would still recommend Limón Rotisserie for the quality of their dishes. I just hope the restroom maintenance and internal communication around paid tabs improve, because those small things really affect the overall experience and I felt racially profiled smh !! read more

I really hate to give this place 2 stars, but honestly they're just phoning it in these days. Like most Peruvian places in SF, they charge premium prices and it used to be mostly worth it. My last order was inedible. It was 1/2 dark roasted chicken, chifa veg (always just sliced zucchini) and was supposed to include salad. No salad delivered. The chicken was so over-salted it was inedible, and I have a palate that likes more salt than most people. Since the veg also swam in the incredibly salty drippings, it was also inedible. If they can't deliver what was ordered, or even what was delivered in an edible state -- why the F would I pay this much? read more

So my friend and I had a little girls night and wanted a really good dinner and then we were off to a comedy show down the street from Limon. This was our first time at this restaurant. We did not know they have several locations throughout the Bay Area. Anyway, we started with a pitcher of classic margaritas and brussel sprouts. We could have stopped there. The margaritas were so tasty and fresh. The glass had lots of salt that could last after multiple pours. The Brussels sprouts were perfect, with a nice bite, well charred and a tangy sauce with parm. But we ordered more and both had the Flat Iron steak with mashed potatoes and vegetable. Damn! It was so good. I know we could have have a bunch of seafood but how often do you see a flat iron steak. We asked for medium rare and it was. The portions were big but I managed to eat almost all of it. The veggies were a great mix and the seasoning on them was delicious. Mashed potatoes were super creamy. I did not need any salt or pepper. Loved it. Wish I had room for dessert. But now that I know there are locations closer to my home, I will go again. Limon has always been one of my favorite places in San Francisco. We've been going there since 2012, and the quality of the food and service has never changed--only the prices have . I can definitely recommend Limon to anyone. It is also good for kids. I still preferred their Van Ness location over the Valencia one; unfortunately, the Van Ness location has closed. read more

Had an excellent dinner here on a Wednesday evening. The place is well designed and ambiance was very nice- not too loud but definitely energy in the restaurant. Between myself and my friend, we shared an order of beef empanadas, ceviche limón, and lomo saltado. I was initially worried that this wouldn't be enough food since so was pretty hungry and we only got one main dish. However, the ceviche plate was HUGE and the overall meal was super filling. I left very full and satisfied. Ceviche Limón: this is a must-get. The ceviche was bright and tasty. The calamari was flavorful and crisp. And the scallops were excellently presented. For an app, I was surprised with the size- I could had this as a large entree! Lomo Saltado: came with rice on the side. Rice and fries is such an underrated combo, especially when topped with meat and sauce. The meat was tender although slightly dry. I think if they do thinner slices or cook the beef a tad less, it'd really shine. However, overall a nice dish worth sharing with a group. Empanadas: these came out very hot- clearly just freshly prepared and fried. I really liked these and would get them again as an app to share with a group. The ceviche here was incredible. I would definitely come back just for the ceviche however I was not impressed by everything else. The service was ok, we were sat immediately upon our arrival which was impressive considering it was a Saturday night. Our server only took our drink and food order and then disappeared until we were about ready to go. Because of this we didn't have a chance to mention that we had not enjoyed our drinks and were even hesitant on mentioning it since we were about to head out. We decided to anyways since we really hadn't drank more than a sip or two, after though our server seemed annoyed. We sat at the bar this time as the tables were all reserved for, which I didn't mind since service at the bar is quicker anyways. Your pisco sour is still FANTASTIC! this frothy, herbaceous concoction enlists simple ingredients, but with a good dry shake technique, it becomes an elevated drink. No wonder it's the national drink of Peru! I want to try and make this at home next time and it only takes 5 simple ingredients: pisco, egg white, lime juice, simple syrup and drops of Angostura bitters. Delicious. Husband opted for his traditional Hefeweizen beer, because you can't take the German out of him :) With our drinks taken cared of, the roasted chicken came out shortly after. I remember it being the exact same juicy, robustly flavored bird: I always go for the dark meat because it is more fatty and retains the flavor longer when cooking. Pair it with seasonal veggies and their chewy, thick yuca fries and you got yourself a satisfying meal. For drinks I went for a pineapple mimosa and a pisco sour. The chaufa rice was so nice. It has a soft and some crunch to it. Well seasoned and the chicken well cooked. It was my favourite. Lomo Saltado with rice was nice in flavour, the sauce was a nice touch and the fries compliments the dish. The drinks were fresh and had a good taste of alcohol in them. Drinks: I ordered the Lychee Sour, which was sweet and refreshing. I also love when a drink has some egg white foam, and it was topped with a beautiful leaf design. Food: I shared the Ya Pez ceviche platter with two friends, and we've been raving about it ever sense! You can tell how fresh the snapper was, and the leche de tigre was simply perfect and tart. We also loved the Peruvian corn nuts and corn as it added a nice texture to the dish. As for the entree, I had a difficult time deciding since they all sounded so delicious, but I ultimately decided on ordering the Polli-Papas. Everything about this dish just worked so well together!
