We drove in from Northern Virginia, and arrived here early enough to get a hot breakfast at Lincoln Diner. The place was busy, and in the middle of July during peak tourist season. There was literally just one table available. Generally busy, indicates that the restaurant is going to be great, but that's not always the case. My husband and I ordered the Western omelet (add bacon), wheat toast, home fries, and a single blueberry pancake to share. We didn't ask them to put it on separate plates, but they took it upon themselves to split the meal. We wish they hadn't. I prefer to have my own plate, and pick and choose what I want from the entrée, so they weren't doing us any favors. The food took forever to come out! And we were anticipating a hot breakfast. Unfortunately, the food was wretched (dry, cold, and lacking flavor). The eggs were so dry, cold, and burnt, it almost looked and tasted as if they were made the night before. The toast wasn't fully toasted; it was soggy. The pancake was dry and cold. That was the theme of the entire meal. This may have been the worst breakfast I've ever had. I had a Birdseye view directly into the kitchen, and all I saw were a bunch of teenagers back there goofing off. Disappointing, because I believe this restaurant has been around for sometime. I certainly would never recommend it to anyone else. Go to McDonald's if you have to. You'll pay less, and get better quality. read more

Stopped on a drive from Maryland to NY. Had a kid in the car craving chocolate chip pancakes. Beth, our server, was friendly and attentive, our food (omelette, French toast with bacon, chocolate chip and regular pancakes) was all delicious and cooked well. (I've definitely had some pretty bad diner omelettes and thankfully this one was perfect.) Despite the diner being super busy we were greeted, seated, and served promptly. And maybe it's because we're from NY, but we were amazed when our check came. Prices were incredibly reasonable. Putting this place on the list for future road trip stops. read more

My wife and I love The Lincoln Diner, the food is always good and today was no different however, unfortunately, the last 2 times in the diner we've gotten the same server who honestly is not the greatest. I'm not dropping a name as I don't want her having issues with management. This young lady just seems miserable and someone that really hates her job. We came in for breakfast this morning and she took our order without writing anything down. I ordered my food and then I got up from the table and our server asked my son, "isnt he going to order?" Meaning me, my son told her that I already gave her my order and he repeated my order to her and when our food arrived my order was not correct along with no silverware at the table which took her a few minutes to return with eating iron Bottom line- Always good food and usually good service. read more

I have only eaten the breakfast here. The breakfast never disappoints, always delicious and the portions are good. Also the Lincoln diner is not gonna break the bank, the prices are very fair. The waitresses are nice as well. The place is not modern, it's a bit dated which is exactly how I like it. Feels a bit like going back in time. It is a bit tight, there isn't a lot of room but that's ok. I always sit at the counter. If you visit Gettysburg this is a must, you won't be disappointed. read more

I have never left a bad review with a servers name before, but Brenda was the worst server I have ever had. We come in and the place is busy. I would say typical for a tourist breakfast spot. We found our table around 9:40 and was handed some menus. We had time to decide what we wanted to eat, while our waitress kept walking by. At one point she even went to the table next to us, that had set down after us, to get their order. They were not ready, so she came and got our drink order. I told her we were ready to order our food as well. My youngest, 10, was up first. She tried to order her drink first and Brenda rudely said to give her the food order first. Ok... Everyone else gave food order and then drink order second. She came to me and I ordered my food with gluten free bread and I asked "can you make a note of a gluten allergy?" She then said "it's gluten free bread." My response "I know, but can you inform the kitchen my meal is for a gluten allergy for cross contamination." We got our drinks and while drinking our drinks, 4 other tables were filled around us. While waiting 4 of the 5 tables (that came in after us) around us got their food. At this point we have been in the restaurant for almost an hour. I told my husband we are leaving and finding something else. As I was on the phone looking for another place around us, our food finally came out at 9:47. Food was typical breakfast diner food. Nothing special. Looking at my receipt, our order was put in at 9:21. So I don't know if she just didn't put our order in when she took our order or what happened. I was looking for breakfast served after 11am, so stopped into the Lincoln Diner. It is a small place but busy so I sat at the bar. Most seats were filled and they were replenishing the baked goods up front. WOW they looked delightful! The waitress was a bit harried but took my order. This is your standard Diner, although they have added on to the facility. It has your standard/basic atmosphere. Nothing fancy. We went there for breakfast and it was delicious, I had the bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Other than my wife's pancakes, these are some of the best I have had. The eggs and bacon were good as well. Best prices I have seen since the start of COVID! Super affordable and good size portions. Two of us ate fir $10! The atmosphere is a fun old style diner right on the train tracks in the heart of Gettysburg. Parking is a little tight. They have a good amount of seating and you seat yourself. They do get busy during peak hours. We got there around 8:40am and they had plenty of tables and seats at the bar. By 9:00am it was completely full! Our waitress was really nice and given the crowd she was still attentive. The food quality was okay, nothing too amazing but it wasn't bad just normal. Our eggs weren't cooked how we asked- over easy was very runny to the point that it was just soup on the plate. My over medium was what should have been over easy. The rye bread was really good and fresh. Bathrooms are down stairs and were kept clean. This is a great spot for tourists! read more

Four of us had breakfast while visiting Gettysburg. The service was very good. Quick and attentive for how busy the dinner was at the time. It is a dinner setting. The food was excellent. There were no complaints at our table. The only reason I did not give it five stars is the wait. They do not have a hostess or wait list and people are constantly coming in behind you. It made me uncomfortable hovering, waiting on a table and telling people trying to squeeze past us that there were no free tables and we were up next. read more

Conveniently located diner right nearby the busy Lincoln Square! It's a classic looking diner that feels both historic and homey. We came right at opening at 7am, and it fills quickly! This is clearly a popular place in town. They do have more seating options in the back. And despite how busy it was that Saturday morning, service was speedy. They know how to work big crowds. Got the sausage gravy biscuits with home fries. Sooooo good. Biscuits were soft as well and served with huge pouring of gravy. Not sure if they are still open real late on the weekends but there was no better place to get a drunken meal after a night out. I use to live a few blocks away so I had plenty of walks home in the middle of the night with a full belly. Staff were always nice and the place was always clean. Just a little on the small side and the bathrooms are downstairs. One of the best places to get eggs any way you want it. Great diner right off the square. read more

This place is the absolute definition of you get what you pay for. The food is not the best I've ever had but also, I couldn't tell you the last time my husband and I's breakfast in total was $15.... I got the pancakes, potatoes, a biscuit, and coffee. Overall, the biscuit was a bit rough, it is definitely only intended to be smothered with gravy, not eaten alone. The potatoes were delicious and perfectly fried though. The pancakes were okay. They tasted like McDonald's pancakes and weren't the best but they did the job. I don't get it. The blandness is amazing. I got potato salad as a side, which was ok, but lacked any sort of spices. The cucumber salad the same. I suggested to the manager to consider topping it with parsley and paprika. She said they buy it in a tub as she walked off. My entree was baked stuffed peppers. 1st taste was factory made spaghetti sauce. Bland and no indication that the dish was prepared fresh or ever met an oven. After seeing several reviews about how delicious the cheesesteaks are here. They didn't disappoint and were very good. The prices overall were reasonable and they serve breakfast all day. It was tempting to order the lumberjack meal and forego the cheesesteak. We did almost leave however when we first arrived we didn't feel very welcome. We arrived and there was no signs to seat ourselves or wait. After waiting a few minutes we were told to sit anywhere except the dining room because it was closed. Every booth was taken except for one that needed cleaned and the counter area. We tried to sit at the counter but all of us were too tall. Our knees didn't fit comfortably under the counter without pushing into us. One of the waitresses was NOT friendly at all and made it clear that the dining room was closed until 5pm because no one was there to work it. She seemed mad that we then asked about the table needing cleaned but moved the items on it and wiped it down. Our waitress was super nice and the restaurant continued to get busy. Other customers came in and were as confused as we were about the lack of seating. As we were leaving I went to get up to leave and the same rude waitress barreled past me into the kitchen area. Clearly I was starting to get up, with my cane. No excuse me, no hesitation to wait until I was up, nothing. Hopefully she was just having a bad day. We would go back so hopefully that's the case. This is situated in an old time silver diner building. It's very casual. I'd say family friendly but with the dining room closed I don't see how a high chair or stroller would fit in the front room. read more

We have visited Lincoln Diner every day for breakfast, and often dinner, since we arrived in Gettysburg on 5/12/25. The food is EXCELLENT! we never had one meal we didn't throughly enjoy. Our server was Beth and she provided us with the most welcoming hospitality and shared her knowledge of the area and the diner history. We can NOT give any higher recommendation then the 5 stars but if we could we would. Treat yourself to some delicious, affordable, down-home cooking when you visit Gettysburg. Was in Gettysburg recently with Wifey for an alumni event celebrating her retiring swim coach. Anyone who went to Gettysburg College spent time in the Lincoln Diner...and if you didn't then there was something wrong with you. We actually stopped in here twice during our visit...one was a planned breakfast and the other was a late night stop after some drinks. For our breakfast we had a great, but simple meal. Wifey had two eggs, bacon, hash browns and rye bread and I ordered a ham and spinach and cheddar omelette with hash browns and rye bread. Both of us also needed some coffee. The whole meal was pretty damn good and the waitress was great. Got us in and out quickly and was super pleasant. We thought about a sticky bun, but decided against it...looked great but we were full from our breakfasts. Our second visit was even better...drinks will do that! Wifey had a Cheeseburger deluxe w fries and gravy and I had a Grilled Ham and Swiss on rye w fries and gravy. I was goin to order Crab soup, but it had peas so I didn't order...hate peas, little green balls of ick. Waitress was was very cute and super nice-Wifey LOVED her hair (it was Rainbow colored). Clearly this young lady deals with a lot of late night drunk college kids so I think she was happy it was an easy night. This meal was a home run...just what we needed. Two of us use walkers, so it was nice that though there were just a few handicapped spots, they were available! When you first walk in, there is an amazing pastry case FILLED with yummy looking goodies! This added to the ambiance of wonderful treats! Also the lighting was great for viewing the menu with windows at the booths. Service was immediate and we asked what people like to order. The waitress knew the menu well. My friend ordered a breakfast dish and loved the pancakes, bacon and eggs. I had a Greek wrap with feta cheese. Loved it! Fries were okay. I should have ordered the onion rings because I tasted my friend's rings and they were great! My other friend ordered the special of steak and cheese and enjoyed it. I have been here on a few occasions, most recently after the Gettysburg Races. My friend and I stopped for a quick breakfast after the race, before leaving town. I ordered the western omelet with wheat toast and hashbrowns and one chocolate chip pancake for us to split. The omelet was spot on. The toast was pretty tasty and the potatoes fell in the average category for me. I am more of a home fry fan. The pancake was slightly on the drier side but smothered in butter and syrup, it was good! This place generally moves people in and out of the restaurant pretty quickly, provides solid food, good service and a fun, diner environment. read more
