San Jose is the place to go for a quick Italian (i think its Portuguese but the food is pasta meatballs tomato etc) take out meal. the little deli counter is great, the coffee is fantastic, the newer sweets section is great if a little pricey, and the original reason I go, the bakery, makes some fantastic breads and bagels. Its hard to get out of there without loading up a bag full of fresh, yummy food. They do have a deli counter with cut meats and cheeses too, and the ready made huge foccacia sandwiches are definitely worth a try, we LOVE them. they do make breakfast sandwiches but have a limited selection that tends to be sold out early so get there early if you want that. The Linda's Bakery on Bleecker Street was the original so definitely worth paying a trip to this shop. It was featured in Sex in the City. It is obviously still a favourite amongst the CA as well as tourists. We went back a fair few times to try their amazingly delicious, fluffy cupcakes I highly recommend the red velvet one. The workers are all very kind, though they don't speak much English, so it might be a little challenging to order if you don't know the language. To confirm and secure the phone order, they do require payment via Zelle or Venmo. The presentation and flavor of the cake were both outstanding! The amount of time and detail put into making it look exactly like a durian was spectacular. More importantly, the taste was phenomenal as they use real durian pieces, and the cake itself is an incredibly soft, light, and airy sponge. Sadly, Euro Delights earned their perennial 1 Star today. This business demonstrated absolute garbage customer service and disregard for people's time. Context: Upon visiting the shop a few weeks prior, we saw an option for a custom order durian cake. The lady in charge of cake operations if you will, told us we needed to order at least 2-3 days in advance. We wanted to place an order for my mother-in-law's birthday. So we ordered on a Sunday (basically 1 wk in advance) and confirmed pick up the following Saturday. We had verbal confirmation over the phone and provide provided name and number for a 930am pickup. When I arrived this morning, l had to first wait 20 minutes for them to service a customer ordering a cake, which they could've just checked on my order for pick up within seconds. After having to repeat my name and number several times, I was told that there was a miscommunication with the staff; and they had sold our custom ordered cake already. What in the fuck?! No other explanations, no apologies, no offer to remediate whatsoever. I was then told they can make a cake if I can wait 30 to 45 minutes. Why the hell do you ask customers to pre-order several days in advance when you can just make this "custom" cake within an hour??? Never supporting this place ever again.
