Linda's is freaking amazing. I got the golden gram waffles, corned beef hash, and eggs. It's the best brunch spot in town.

An extremely frustrating experience! My husband and I have tried to eat here multiple times with only one successful attempt. The food was subpar diner food, and our waitress was nice, but our food took a long time to receive. There really is no sense of urgency at this place. Now, let's discuss the wait time and hosting service at this establishment. One that is absurd and severely lacking in customer service. Don't be surprised to be ignored for 15-30 minutes with multiple staff members walking by you before you find out how long of a wait time there is. They also quit seating at 1:30 and close at 2. But if you arrive at 1 they will ignore you until 1:30 and tell you they quit seating. It's surprising to me that a business would turn so many paying customers away just to close up shop at 2. At first I thought my standards were too high, but then realized these are normal expectations that this restaurant can't meet. If you're looking for mediocre food and poor service, this is your place. read more

Fairly new to the area and this was our first time here. This place has been open about 30 years. The ambiance has a small town diner feel. The staff is extremely friendly. The food was fantastic. What a fiasco...let's start with the water. It literally felt like drinking pop rocks. Images of Flint Michigan ran through my mind and I wondered if this is how it would all end...in a diner, in Lord knows where Maryland. My tongue felt slightly singed but I comforted myself with the thought that it couldn't get any worse than this. Boy was I wrong. After ordering, my girlfriend and I waited...and waited...and waited. 30 minutes pass, our stimulating conversation becomes sparse as our stomachs voice their discontent. Looking into the open kitchen, I notice that the kitchen staff are cracking jokes about the Pittsburg Steelers, which is followed by boos from their compatriots...classic humor, but no amount of levity will distract me from my desire for delicious delicious sustenance. 30 more minutes pass... My girlfriend, who is hypoglycemic, notes that if she doesn't get food soon there may be an issue. Finally our food arrives, one hour and seventeen minutes later. ***The waitress was the only saving grace of this establishment.*** she apologized profusely and mentioned that "sometimes it's worse." (Lord Almighty!) Our food was fine, typical diner fare, nothing special. My girlfriend didn't love her "California Benedict." She described it as "blandness punctuated by quick roundhouse punches of feta." The kicker was upon checkout, the lady checking us out saw the California Benedict and said "it must have been good! That's my favorite." We just chuckled and booked it for the door. The waitress was super sweet and she deserves better than this establishment. The two stars are ONLY FOR HER SERVICE. read more

Restaurant stop seating at 1:30 on Saturday even though they say they close at 2 PM you guys lost a customer!

Recieved cold and wrong food order. Asked for a manager and the waitress was rude and we never got to speak with one. Explained the situation to them on Facebook and was told she would email me a gift certificate right away and never did and when I asked for it she called me rude and passive aggressive and told me to go to McDonalds. Linda's has been a fixture in the Lexington Park area for many, many years. It's simple home cooking at reasonable prices. Stopped in today for breakfast and service was fast and efficient. Had the corned beef hash and eggs which were excellent, and my wife had the waffle with bacon which was more than she could eat. My rating system for restaurants is three stars if I would return, four stars if I would like to be a regular, and five stars if I would drive out of my way to eat at that restaurant. read more

First time to Linda's Cafe for lunch today. Wasn't sure what to expect. Let's start with the restaurant itself. It had the feel of a local little cafe. Nothing bad, but nothing special either. The employees were friendly and fairly attentive. Like the restaurant itself, they were ok, but nothing out if the ordinary. No real complaints. I will say that I was s little suspect when the waitress gave me a menu. The inside pages had dried food, dried food smears, and liquid stains all over the pages. That kinda turned me off right there. I ordered the patty melt. It was on sourdough bread with cheese and onions. It didn't taste bad at all. Overall, everything was pretty middle of the road. Would I go there again, yeah probably. The prices are very reasonable and the food is alright. If they just cleaned it up a little and took care of things a little better. The 411: this is a homey, local place that serves nice breakfast items at respectable prices. If you go to st. Mary's college of Maryland or the college of southern Maryland in st. Mary's county, this place has decent prices for a tight budget. The hot cakes: served with maple syrup and topped with sugar. Their version are a little rubbery and hard to cut, but the flavor of the batter is very delicious. The meats: the bacon is cooked well. They also have jalapeño bacon that I really wanna try. The scrapple is cooked well, but I've had more generous servings of it elsewhere for the same price. The grits: perfectly flavored! Nice in texture and salted just right, their grits are something you have to get if you're a fan! The omelette: I got the Spanish with sausage. It was great! A little pricey, but that's okay. It also comes with nice home fries. I'm told their specials and other comfort entrees are what really make this place special. I hear that you have to try the chipped beef and the biscuits and gravy. Bottom line: this place has breakfast for everybody. They might be a little slow to get your food through at the rush time, but service is nothing but accommodating and it's a nice place to sit back, sip your coffee and not have to deal with any dishes after your meal. There's always a wait so I try to get to go but they constantly are telling you they're not taking to go orders. When they do they give you way smaller portions then what they give you in the restaurant. If you can bare to wait 30-1hr then just sit down and eat. If not, don't bother getting anything takeout because it won't be worth it, if they even allow it. read more

Nice little café for Lexington Park Maryland. Off the little beating pad. As you walk in the servers are very friendly. You seat yourself. The café reminds you of going into a Norman Rockwell painting. I love little diver cafes that support the economy of there towns. My daughter order the silver dollar children pancakes. My son ordered grits, eggs and bacon. And I ordered the chicken and waffle. The coffee is nothing to writing home about but it comes hot! read more

We brought my family from California to have lunch because they loved it years ago. When placing our names I asked how long the wait was as I saw it was full. The male server stated "it's gonna be a while." I asked for about an estimated time as we didn't mind waiting. I was returned a snarky, can't be bothered attitude of "well let's see we have 4 ppl on the list and my tables are full." I walked out and will not return nor recommend. I just can not understand why people rave about these local faves when they are absolutely disgusting and all the food comes from a can. We heard that this place is awesome for breakfast and we needed to check it out. So one Sunday morning we went and was not impressed one bit. We waited for 35 minutes to get our drinks, and another 1 1/2 to get our food. When we walked out of there (over 2 hours later) we knew we would never return. The place is super tiny and all the tables are smashed into each other. When we walked in, no one spoke to us and we had no idea if we should sit down or wait to be seated. Finally, we asked a waitress and was told to just grab any empty spot. We found a booth and waited for over a half and hour for a waitress to acknowledge us. Even though she walked by us about 30 times and looked at us. The sweet tea is horrific. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy was out of a can. It tasted like the canned gravy your camp counselor would open and slap a glob on your plate for breakfast. My husband's omelet wasn't even cooked. No way was he going to have them fix it, we would have waited another 50 minutes for it. The prices are INSANELY high for the crap food they slop on your plate. We will never go back, not worth it at all. The people in this area have no idea what "GOOD LOCAL" diner food is. This place is just a "hype" and that's it. Linda needs to learn how to cook. And from scratch, not by using a can opener. read more

We were visiting our granddaughter at St. Mary's College of Maryland on a Sunday and went for lunch. This place was recommended by a friend of our granddaughter and it was closer to the campus then some other places. Keep in mind nothing is close to the campus as far as restaurants go. When we got there we were told there was a 30 minute wait but we actually were seated in about 20 minutes. It was Halloween and the wait staff were dressed in costume. They offered us candy from a big dish which was a nice gesture. Our orders were taken fairly quickly and it took a little longer than I expected for the food to arrive. The food itself was very good. I had the hot turkey sandwich with delicious gravy, lumpy (I love lumpy) mashed potatoes and stuffing. The only thing missing was some cranberry! My granddaughter had the club sandwich which she said tasted good. This place appears to be tucked away in a strip mall but I highly recommend it if you are in the area.
