    Oxtail grilled cheese
    Kenia A.

Quite literally one of the best meals I've had! I can't believe it took me so long to finally check this place out. The vibes are cozy inside. We ordered the oxtail grilled cheese, for goodness steak (whatever sauce they toss that spinach in is phenomenal; if I'd had one more drink in me, I would've licked my plate clean), Rhode Island calamari, lobster roll, chicken, and a tagliatelle oxtail (I believe this wasn't on the menu, but I do hope they keep add it, it was so creamy we devoured it). I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here there wasn't a single miss on this menu. If you're having cocktails, the casa verde was such a refreshing drink. And a big shoutout to our server, Fernando, who really made our dining experience all the best! Can't wait to come back.

Went here on a late night about 11 after our wrap party and it was all of our first time and they did not disappoint! We had a variety of food and we just shared it all and everything was good & tasty! For dessert we shared a peach cobbler and we was drooling over it lol. Our server was not the greatest, I think she was ready to go home and they kept letting people in, so someone from the bar ended up helping our table. I loved the decor & the vibe was just right for a late night dinner on a Saturday. Not too loud but not quite either. Some celebs came later and was seated near us, but we are all professional in the business, so we smiled and nodded and they just asked us how our food was. We had a great night there and I think that will be one of my regular black owned spots in LA!!! There is street parking akeep in mind that it is in or near Hollywood, so valet may be safer!

Yall gotta try this delectable restaurant!! Shout out to the Red Dining Book bc I never would have known about Linden, and I am so so glad it brought my friend and me here! The food is divine, the playlist on 100, the interior beautiful, chic, and homey at the same time. All the wait staff are so so friendly. We were able to find street parking but they do have $13 valet if you can't! We started with the Caesar brûlée which was solid, great presentation. 8/10 We next had the yucca fries in duck fat omg SO good. And I used to eat yucca literally every day when I lived in Paraguay. These fries were perfect GBD and the butter they come with? Absolutely heavenly. Perfect bite, perfect mouth feel, perfectly pillowy inside 10/10 Next we had the oxtail grilled cheese special. Yall, this was ooey gooey melty and the butter/oil/bbq sauce on the side was PERFECT for the sandwich. 9.5/10 for this We finished with the snapper and the agnolotti. The agnolotti was a great summertime dish;the corn and peas make it feel light. The agnolotti fell apart a little bit, but still delicious. 8.5/10 The snapper was perfectly breaded and cooked, and it came with the perfect accompaniments - the sauce, greens and fennel, and pink grapefruit rounded each other out perfectly. Great dish 9/10 I will definitely be bringing friends back here! It is a smaller restaurant, which adds to the homey feel. And my friend could not get over hearing Brandy and Janet in the same sitting. Truly great music!

Special dish replacing the usual popular oxtail dish - 4.5/5.

Went to the Linden before a show at The Pantages. The vibe is cool, and the dining room is scattered with a few patrons at 6pm and I'm feeling excited at the prospect of tasting their "Not a Potpie" oxtail dish since we've seemingly arrived early enough to *maybe* snatch one. Our waiter is pleasant and chatty, he recites a script he's regurgitated 100s of times and shares the news - no oxtail (not) potpie. He mutters something about them not coming out right, but let's be real - the kitchen does not have time for that this Friday evening. Instead they're serving an oxtail pappardelle and we decide we'll try the consolation prize, along with The Parkway - a duck dish with coconut and pea risotto, and the brussel sprouts to start. The sprouts are BOMB (do the kids still say that these days!?). I'm a sauce girl and, frankly, I liked them better without the accompanying aioli. The Parkway was a dud for me. The jerk duck wasnt very "jerky" despite our waiter highlighting the spice paired with a little heat were a standout with this dish. We got none of that. The risotto was also disappointing - entirely too creamy without as much as a glimmer of coconut flavor. Now to consolation prize pasta - that was really good, although just a bit too creamy with the accompanying over-creamed, under-coconut(ted) risotto and duck. Some aspects of the meal were superb, while others were underwhelming. The whole was on the heavier side, though.

Truly the only complaint I have about Linden is that I didn't go sooner, and that's my bad. This New American spot is a luxe and delicious beacon in the heart of Hollywood. Service was impeccable and the inside is small but expertly curated. I started with the mojo jojo mojito and it was just the pick me up I needed. Perfectly balanced and full of flavor. For our meal, we shared the duck fat fries (straightforward but yummy), the lightly fried brussel sprouts (among the best I've had, delicious, gorgeous, crisp, expertly seasoned), the duck entree (loved the twist on this with the rice and peas) and the oxtail grilled cheese (heavenly). Everything was so thoughtfully done. The chef really considered textures, flavors, and the palette when crafting his menu. For dessert, we had the bread pudding, which was good, but managed to be my least favorite bite of the night. The rest of the meal left me with great expectations and it fell a little short. Still, we had a fabulous time and enjoyed drinks at the speakeasy next door after. I'll be back.

Linden, a restaurant with roots in New York bringing together cuisine with inspiration from different cultures around the world. First, parking. Linden is on Sunset, so parking can be hard to come by. If you're lucky, you might find street parking, but most likely you'll need to valet unless you don't mind walking some distance. Moving on. We had a reservation so we were seated immediately. Started with drinks, and I don't remember the names (apologies). One was a passion fruit cocktail, very flavorful. The other has pineapple and was also very nice. Both drinks has a great blend of spirit and flavor. Food, we started with the Yellowtail Crudo and the Lobster & Crab Knuckle Sandwich. The crudo was excellent with a scotch bonnet ponzu sauce to dab in and scallion salad. Would definitely recommend. The Lobster & Crab Knuckle Sandwich was also one of the best lobster rolls I've had. So much lobster and crab, perfectly buttered, a great roll... so good! For entrees we did the NY strip and the Sweet Corn & Pea Agnolotti. The NY strip was cooked perfectly with the pomme puree and wilted spinach. Great bite with everything together. The Sweet Corn & Pea Agnolotti was also good with sweet corn-filled agnolotti and charred corn on top. The one thing that I felt was a little it of place was the truffle on the peas. It wasn't an overbearing amount but the truffle flavor really came through and, for me, just didn't bring it all together. It was still a good dish, but I felt the truffle did not need to be there. Might have been better with something else or just leaving it off all together. Overall, fabulous restaurant on Sunset serving a great menu with inspiration from around the world. Cocktails were amazing as was the food. Highly recommend!

From the moment you step foot inside Linden, you feel the warmth, culture, and cool vibes emenating from the decor and music to the servers and presentation. Our server Kevin was very knowledgable regarding the dishes and his personal recommendations were excellent. Ambiance: 4.8/5 Drinks: 4.8/5 - Coupe of Joe: was one of the best I've had (Espresso Martini). Balanced perfectly and not too bitter of a finish. Appetizers: 4.8/5 Herbed Duck Fat fries - Perfect crisp, not too heavy, extremely smooth potato texture within. Seasoned perfectly. - The accompanying mayo sauce was great. Only thing I'd mention was the cavier on top of the sauce was more of a garnish and felt like it's purpose was to visually elevate rather than contribute to its taste as the sauce was naturally heavy. Sides: 4.7/5 Pan Seared Mushrooms - Standalone. Could have easily devoured this on its own and been happy. Sautéed Spinach - Great acidity that cut through the umami of the entree in a refreshing and complimenting way. Not too oily or heavy. Entree: 4.8/5 Wagyu Oxtail Grilled cheese (off menu) - Excellent flavor. Cooked to perfection and just the right portion size. Dessert: 3.5/5 Rugelach - Ok all around. The lemon chantilly cream was a nice touch but overall nothing too special. Service: 4.3/5 Like I mentioned, very warm and welcoming all around. I especially loved how our server Kevin seemed so passionate about the food he was describing. However, despite being the first reservation when they opened, the time between ordering, receving check-ins, and collecting the check, were all pretty long. The intangibles were solid, but the actual service time dragged. Total: 4.5

I like the bar more than the food. Came here on a Friday with an 8p reservation. It was a little busy and we were sat near the kitchen. The lighting is low and intimate. Great for a date night. The music was good but over shadowed by the kitchen music since there's no door. At first glance, the menu is limited. My cocktail was decent but the glass was sticky. The duck fat fries were good, with a mashed potato texture and came out piping hot. The pear salad had a good balsamic dressing but I wish the pears stood out more or has more in general. The oxtail pot pie was too rich and salty for me. Two bites was enough and the crust was thick. The peach dessert was not my favorite; super thick crust that wouldn't cut and the peach chutney was flavorless. The icecream on top was the better part of the dish. Overall, the food didn't do it for me. I'd come back for a drink at the bar or the speakeasy.

    Cornmeal Encrusted Snapper

At the edge of the tenderloin on Sunset where gentrification has sunset you'll find a ray of sunshine. Linden is the poster child for charming. A patio wraps the front with a trellis and hanging plants separating al fresco diners from the belching exhaust of an uncorked Camry. Spend a Jackson on the Valet otherwise parking can be a challenge. Inside you are greeted by an efficient pleasant warm and welcoming Hostee along with Douri, Dining Manager, who sees and senses all around him. He could probably Coach an NFL Team to a winning season. The Decor: A NYC chic shack hooks up with a perfect French Bistro. Thick Burgundy drapes to the floor soak up the sound of the loop (70's Soul Train end of the line). The balance of music versus convo's was spot on. A beautiful Granite Bar invites ones and twos. A hidden alcove is just right for a polyamorous date night. The rest of the floor are two and four tops and none too close to make diners feel like tinned fish. Settled in, Ammon stopped by to introduce himself and he was great from the jump. Ahem. He was naturally personable, easy going, and helpful. The Bar: The Bar anchors the room without dominating it. The Bar delivers. Signature cocktails, Classics or leave it to the Bar Tender to get you all mixed up. The Punch Buggy winked at me. D'usse Cognac, Kahlua, Fresh Orange Juice and Demarra Sugar. Sweet as a first kiss and potent as Pit Viper venom. Two of these and I would be too punchy to drive my buggy home. The Staff: All paid attention during Team Prep. Bright, on it, and capable. Ammon brought his own vibe to the table along with his quick sense of humor. No matter who stops by your table you'll be in good hands. Douri keeps everyone on task and target. The Food: Bold and innovative. It's a mash up of what's on Linden Blvd in NYC. Creole, Soul Food, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Italian, Jewish. Something for everyone. The menu is clever. "Breaking Bread" was a wood plank with Focaccia (with Olive Oil and Balsamic), Cornbread with Panko Coated Butter shaped like a Fried Chicken leg, and a mini Everything Bagel with Schmaltz Butter. "Oh, and Ammon, can you please bring double shots of Crestor for the entire table?". The Caesar Salad was adolescent Romaine hearts stacked up with a ladle of dreamy creamy Caesar Dressing, then Blow Torched and topped off with herby Toasted Bread Crumbs and fresh grated Parmesan Cheese. Hail to this Caesar. Next out was my old weakness comin' on strong. Fried Calamari. It was a Hill of Rings and Things with Little Beak Sweet Peppers that had a little nip of heat and a sprinkle of Tomato Powder finished the dish. This was as good as Fried Calamari gets. Some of the best in town and that's any town. If Linden sold these in a Family Bucket, I'm in and will take two. Ammon rode the brakes on the rest of what I over ordered until he arrived with the "Bama" Chicken. This was a platter of brined and smoked Chicken Breasts as tender as a puppy's tummy. Now how bout some Alabama White Sauce? (Mayo with Apple Cider Vinegar and whatever the Prep Cook can reach). This was set in a schmear of Pureed Parsnip and a few Ping Pong Balls made with Collard Greens and Cornbread. This dish was a religious experience. Thank you Lord. Over Grits with two fried Eggs the next day was just as good too. Next out was the Cornmeal Encrusted Snapper the size of Shaq's Shoe. It reminded me of a shore side old fashioned Southern style Fish Fry at Lake Wylie in Clover, So. Carolina. I say push the pile of dressed greens (Arugula and Red Chimichurri) off the fish and enjoy the Snapper neat. Then come back to the salad. Finally, the checkered flag was in sight, but not before I succumbed to the Filo Encased Peach Caramel with Brown Butter Vanilla Ice Cream and a Coupe of Grandma's Pie (Vodka, Lillet Blanc [Vermouth], Peach Liqueur, and Cinnamon dusted over the top. Ammon, can you call the stretcher bearers, please?" Linden...it's a sin then not to go.

I'd rate this as one of the top in LA. The staff was great but the food was even better. Felt like you were dining at your grandmother's house. The food, drinks, music, all embodied what makes LA great. I will definitely be back.

Fabulous spot and absolutely delicious food! Make sure to register make a reservation as we saw so many people walk in on the restaurant was already packed, and the staff worked extra hard to try to accommodate everybody. Our server Aman was exceptional! Made sure to explain the menu to us and gave great recommendations. We got brussels sprouts, the duck fat fries, and the smoked chicken to share for two people. Couldn't resist getting the crispy, peach dessert, and it was phenomenal! On top of all that, the ambience was cozy with great music - it's a vibe!!! We'll be back!

I made dinner reservation at Linden because I heard it was considered one of the best burgers in town. I am a burger connoisseur and was eager to try their burger and duck fat fries. The atmosphere and decor was on point. Chic and lively, I could definitely feel the New York inspirations. I opted to sit at the bar to enrich the dining experience with the lively chatter. I ordered a gin martini with a lemon twist and started my night with the Herb duck fat fries. They were served with a lemon caviar aioli which paired perfectly with the rich and creamy potatoes. They were simply heavenly and so delicious filling. Then the star of the night came out the Linden Burger. The French onions and smokey patty was an amazing combination along with the light lemon garlic aioli. Every bite was flavorful and different take on a classic burger but without losing the core flavor of delicious meat, light sauce and crunch of the slaw. The bartenders were expert mixologist and attentive to all our needs. This will definitely be a place I put on my Hollywood rotation as they have several different items with Caribbean flavors that seem so interesting and unique.

Chef Jon and his team are absolutely in their bag at Linden. Every dish felt intentional, balanced, and deeply satisfying. This is the kind of meal that stays with you long after you leave. I am genuinely making myself hungry again just thinking about it. The oxtail wagyu not a pot pie was unforgettable. Rich, comforting, and incredibly well executed with layers of flavor that felt both elevated and soulful at the same time. The Caesar Brûlée was a standout and such a creative take on a classic, perfectly textured and beautifully presented. And the lemon pepper brussel sprouts were addictive with the ideal balance of brightness, seasoning, and crispness. Beyond the food, the ambiance seals the experience. The lighting, energy in the room, and overall vibe make it feel warm, stylish, and effortlessly cool. The crafted cocktails were equally impressive and thoughtfully composed. Chef Jon and the staff truly deliver a dining experience where every detail matters. I left incredibly pleased and already planning my return.

Dinner was $70 per person and consisted entirely of shared plates. It turned out to be plenty of food. We started with the roasted shishito peppers and the crispy pork belly. That pork belly was the best dish of the night - absolutely delicious. Next came the chickpea fritters, which were also really good. The roasted beet salad was up next. I hate beets. But I still liked this. I wouldn't order it again because, yeah, I really don't like beets. But if you like them even a little, you should get this. I actually ate several bites of this, and it was nice. The Sichuan Chili Bass presented a similar situation as I don't really like fish - but again, I ate this and it was quite tasty. Dessert was a "s'mores" situation - a messy, glorious bowl of chocolate, meringue, graham cracker crunch and strawberries. Service was awesome - perfectly pacing the meal. My friend had a couple of cocktails which were gorgeous. And the room is lovely and light. I don't love the neighborhood and parking can be tough. I definitely would come early unless you're taking a taxi. Genuinely surprised how much I liked this meal. Everything was very well done and clearly made with care without seeming fussy or too precious. Highly recommend and would definitely come back. This is a place to take your out-of-town friends to.

So stoked that I finally got to try this place. It no longer has to be stuck in my "want to go…read moreplaces" bookmarks! We were able to secure a 5:30pm reservation on a Saturday night with outdoor seating. Friends had dined here several times so started off the night with some good recommendations! For a party of four, they recommended about 5-7 dishes to share. I have unique allergies so both the staff and kitchen were extra careful and made sure to let us know if any of the dishes we ordered had any potential cross contamination. To be safe, we didn't order one of their popular dishes (green beans) as it has cashews. We thought about having those to the side but were afraid there could be potential contamination from the pot they make it in. We ordered about 6 dishes to share and ordered a matcha tres leches to share per each couple. We probably could have ordered another main but we left with satisfied bellies. Naan & Dips - $21 Must get! Naan is super flavorful and comes with two dipping sauces. It was a good portion size to share among 4 people Roasted Carrots - $19 Couldn't get the green beans due to my cashew allergy so we opted for the next recommendation given by our waiter! The carrots were so tender and flavorful. Tomato & Stone Fruit Salad - $24 I really enjoyed this one although our friend felt like the Chicago location made this more flavorful. The creamy tofu sauce with chili oil makes a great pairing! A great refreshing way to start off the meal before all the heavy flavors from the mains! Ginger Chili Yum Salmon - $38 Salmon was extremely tender and cooked well. It comes with two pieces of salmon, so it made it easy to share between the two couples. The sauce was okay for me. Sticky Glazed Pork Shank - $48 My absolute favorite from what we ordered. Meat fell off the bone and was seasoned so well! I liked the addition of lettuce and pickled veggies. You can eat as is or make it into a lettuce wrap! Highly recommend, maybe next time I won't share this one haha Pork Belly Noodles - $36 Pork belly was tender, but I don't remember much from it...also the portion size was lacking so maybe that's also a factor. 2 Matcha Tres Leches - $17/each YES to this! This was such a divine way to end our meal. The blackberry frozen jam and matcha whip was such a treat! Loved the addition of matcha white chocolate quinoa crisps!

A lot of people think that "fall off the bones" are the perfect way for ribs dish. But actually that is incorrect. If you're curious of how perfectly made BBQ ribs supposed to taste like, feel free to come to this place. They'll show you how it should be. -:- this place made the best with all fresh ingredients. I never liked spread before. But here, they made their tuna spread from fresh ingredients and not from canned ingredients. If you'd like to know how good a spread tuna spread tastes like, this is the place to go! And don't get me started with their bread. Talking about fresh! They make cloud bread (my opinion). Deep fried cauliflower: first, they boiled/blanched the cauliflowers perfectly, breaded and deep fried. If you'd don't like veggies, you have to come here and get this dish. The sauce, they made it from fresh lime juice! Not from any bottled ones that majority restaurants out there use for short cuts. This including their tomato salad. Will we revisit? Yes! 1000% many many many more times!

Most times, a good ambience means mediocre food so I'd just hoped it was edible. Good Lord, was I wrong. Several things on your menu were the "best we've ever had" of that item, starting with the cornbread. I never order chicken when eating out because it's boring and usually dry. Your chicken was so moist - the spice level so perfect - that I had to share it with everybody at the table. Everything that arrived was met with "Oh my God. Have you tried that?" The only thing I didn't love was the parsley eastsider drink. I often have an Eastside when I am out, but perhaps the addition of parsley just made it taste like I was on a juice cleanse. Our waiter, Angel, noticed I wasn't gulping it down and asked if he could get me something else. I kept telling him it was "fine," but he did not accept "fine" as the bar of satisfaction so I asked for a margarita. He offered to add heat and I was reluctant, but said ok. Spicy margaritas often taste like a margarita with spice dumped as an afterthought. Again, you blew that theory away. I had to have everyone at the table taste the best margarita we have ever had. It tasted like the margarita had been born of a cross-pollinated agave-pepper plant. The seamless flavor was out of this world. I'm so grateful that Angel insisted I change my drink because we ordered 3 more. Angel also turned my husband onto an IPA that he loved. The unique ambience goes without saying. The designer of the space should win an award. We were fascinated by the diagonally, cut doors, wondering the story behind them. The people watching could have been our entire entertainment for the night. I've saved the best for last and that is our server, Angel. We were well taken care of from our first moment to our last. He gave us honest recommendations, made sure we were very happy, and clearly served your food and drinks with great pride. His name personality was delightful and we are still dreaming about everything the next day. Thank you so much.

First impression is that the space is stunning and so inviting. In the heart of the arts district it is located in a historic building and they leaveraged using a lot of the original infrastructure to make this spot a hidden gem amongst the other eateries in the neighborhood. The meal started off strong with attentive service and delicious starters. We got the popular cornbread, biscuits and trout dip. 5/5 for each item! Where the meal started to fall short came to our entrees. The service staff was kind but not very attentive. Tables who were sat after us were noticably getting their food faster. We waited closer to an hour for our entrees and had to send all of them back because they arrived cold. The manager became aware of the issue and they refired our entrees immediately but didn't do much else to address the significant lag in the service and cold delivery. Given it was a birthday brunch they did give us a complimentary dessert and ice cream but not much else to acknowledge the lack in service and quality especially given the value point of the meal. Overall, we had high expectations for Manuela but this particular brunch experience fell short. We aim to come back to try their dinner service in hopes for a better experience.

Unfortunately, this visit was completely different and left us extremely disappointed. The night we went, there was a large party of at least 30 people gathered around the bar, which made it difficult to get in and out of the restaurant and took away from the overall atmosphere. We ordered the Bicol Express Mezzelune and Crispy Duck Pancit, along with the Clarified Ube Sour and Calamansi Mojito. Unfortunately, neither of us enjoyed the flavor profiles this time. The Bicol Express sauce was too sweet for our taste, while the filling itself was quite dry. The sauce on the duck pancit was also extremely salty. We were hoping our drinks would help cleanse our palates and balance out the meal, but they were forgotten and didn't arrive until the very end. To top things off, after we paid, our credit card wasn't returned to us, and we had to ask another server to retrieve it. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience, especially since we chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and had such great experiences here in the past. We know they're capable of providing a much better experience, which made this visit even more frustrating. After this experience, it's unlikely that we'll be coming back anytime soon. That said, because our previous visits were so enjoyable, we might be willing to give them another try in the future and hope this was simply an off night.

I just never realized where it was since I don't usually make it out to Hancock Park. Then one day, while I happened to be in the area, I stumbled upon it and had one of those "Wait...this is here?!" moments. You ever have one of those places you've wanted to visit forever, only to realize it was much closer than you thought? My first visit was actually for dessert after having a less-than-memorable lunch at Mish down the street. Unfortunately, I arrived later in the day and most of the pastry case had already been wiped out, leaving only a limited selection. The staff recommended the Dulce de Leche Cremadette ($6.75), and I'm glad they did. It was perfectly flaky, buttery, and sweet, with the dulce de leche tucked inside the pastry. The caramel reminded me of the caramel coating on a caramel apple. I also picked up some brownies at the staff's recommendation, and those were fantastic -- incredibly moist, rich, and delicious. Definitely a must-get. I was a little disappointed that I missed out on the majority of the pastry selection, but I was told that the pastries are made in limited batches each day and once they sell out, that's it. So if you're coming specifically for the pastries, get here early. Earlier this summer, I made the acquaintance of an OG Yelper, Joseph A., and we've been corresponding back and forth on Yelp. I happened to know that he's a regular at République, so I asked if he'd be interested in meeting me right when they opened. I figured if anyone knew what to order, it would be him. Joseph was incredibly kind and gracious enough to treat me to breakfast. I ordered his usual breakfast recommendation: the Regular Breakfast ($24), which comes with bacon steak, fingerling potatoes, a demi baguette, French butter, jam, and an egg prepared any style. Joseph went with the soft scramble, and I followed his lead. That was definitely the move. They really know how to cook eggs here. The soft scramble was absolutely divine -- creamy, delicate, and perfectly cooked. The bacon steak was a little on the salty side, but still very good. The demi baguette was excellent, especially with the French butter and jam. Honestly, I could have eaten several pieces of that baguette with the butter and jam alone. The fingerling potatoes were nicely seasoned and quite good on their own, but a few dashes of hot sauce really took them up another notch. I'll be honest: $24 is definitely on the pricey side for what you're getting, especially when you break down the individual components. That said, when you factor in the quality of the food, the setting, and the overall experience, I can understand why people are willing to pay it. We also shared several pastries, and every single one was excellent in its own right. I'm officially hooked on the pastries here. They just don't miss. Service was pretty good during my visit. One thing worth noting is that République adds a 4% surcharge to the bill to help cover healthcare for their staff. It's certainly something to be aware of when looking at the final bill. f you're looking for a quintessential LA brunch experience to take out-of-towners to, République is a great option. Just be prepared for potentially long lines, especially on weekends. I visited on a weekday morning over the summer, so I didn't personally experience the weekend crowds. My only real wait was at the pastry counter during my first visit. I've heard you can expect people lining up before they even open at 8AM, so plan accordingly. The cult following surrounding Walter and Margarita Manzke's restaurant/café is understandable. Between the food, pastries, atmosphere, and history of the building, there's a lot to appreciate here. And speaking of history, the building itself is pretty special. The property was built in 1928 by Charlie Chaplin. It became a restaurant in 1989 when chefs Mark Peel and Nancy Silverton transformed the space to open La Brea Bakery and Campanile. After Campanile closed in 2012, the building was renovated and modified to open up the space while returning it closer to the spirit of its original construction. République opened in 2013 and has been going strong ever since. Do yourself a favor and eat at République. Come for the food and pastries, but also take some time to appreciate the ambiance and the history of this incredible LA property. And whatever you do, get here early if you want the pastries. Once they're gone, they're gone! Don't walk--run to République.
