I booked Jackson of All Trades after getting several moving quotes because their $150/hour rate was…read moreone of the more affordable options, and a friend had used them before and had a good experience. Overall, my experience was a mixed bag with some definite pros and cons. My appointment was scheduled for 8:30 a.m., which I chose intentionally because this was an August move in Austin and I wanted to get as much done as possible before the worst heat of the day. At 8:06, one of the movers texted to let me know they were having truck problems and would be arriving between 9 and 9:30. They kept me updated, but ultimately didn't arrive and start until 9:30, a full hour after my scheduled time. Unfortunately, losing that hour meant much more of the move ended up happening during the peak afternoon heat I had specifically tried to avoid with the early appointment. They also called when they arrived because they weren't sure where to park, even though I had provided parking instructions in my confirmation email. They arrived in a U-Haul rather than one of the company's branded trucks, which I assume was related to the truck trouble. The two movers themselves were incredibly nice and pleasant throughout the entire move. They took good care of my furniture and wrapped and protected pieces thoroughly. Nothing about the handling of my belongings made me nervous, and I appreciated the care they took. That said, the pace was slower than I expected. For context, this was one person moving out of a one-bedroom apartment, not a family or large household, and I had done a LOT to prepare. Everything was fully packed, approximately 30 reusable moving boxes were staged together for easy loading, I had pre-wrapped some furniture and I even moved about 15 vacuum bags out to the truck myself. My old building did require navigating hallways and an elevator, which understandably added time to the load-out. On the other end, however, the truck could park directly outside my new ground-floor apartment with access through both the garage and front door, so unloading was about as straightforward as it could be. The move ultimately took about 6.5 hours. By the end, the Austin heat and humidity were understandably taking a toll and the pace had slowed considerably. Since I was paying by the hour, I eventually told them to leave some furniture for me to reassemble and some items for me to move into the correct rooms myself because the time and cost were continuing to climb and I needed to stop the clock. This is where I'm a little torn on whether I'd use them again. The hourly rate was considerably cheaper than several other quotes I received, but after a 6.5-hour move, I think the final cost probably ended up being similar to what I might have paid for a more expensive but more experienced or efficient crew. Sometimes a lower hourly rate isn't necessarily a lower total moving cost. Still, the guys were genuinely kind, took good care of my belongings and got everything safely from one apartment to the other. I especially appreciated them powering through a brutally hot Austin moving day. If half stars were an option, I'd probably land at 3.5. I'm rounding up to four because I really liked the crew and appreciated the care they took with my things, but the hour-late start, communication/organization issues and the overall pace would make me hesitant to book again.

There is a reason why this company has a great rating…read more I spent hours researching moving outfits and even used 2 different companies for various stages of my move up to today. I was not incentivized for this review at all. Paid with my own money and found them through Yelp. Why should you just stop researching moving companies and book with them? Here's why: 1. They do what they say and they are professional movers. -Clear quote in writing. They don't chase low rates. You do pay for what you get. Also: -No extra surprise fees -They moved me out of 2 storage units, drove my items to my new home, unloaded that load, then helped me unload and unpack my 16foot pod. 2. Their management is very responsive and clear with pricing and quotes verbally and in writing. Discount if you use zelle or venmo otherwise you pay CC fee of 3%. 3. This crew arrived on the dot, moved my things with care and were SUPER quick working. They unloaded my 2 units and into their truck so fast. Once in my 2 story home they asked where things needed to go. None of this needing to move things after the move. They laid down a protective mat for the dollys and high traffic. They took the extra time to help me place my heavy furniture and took apart and put back together beds after going up and down my stairs. They were super careful not to hit my walls, corners or doors and doorways. I'd 1000% pay the money and hire them again. I've moved 6 times at this point and by far this has been the most pleasant, professional, efficient and enjoyable! While we waited for the pod to arrive (pod was running late) Brandon proactively asked if he could help me unpack my kitchen boxes. He went above and beyond. They worked cleanly putting trash away, boxes broken down and put in a nice pile. Thanks Moving Kings and my crew today! You are wonderful!

They sent out 2 movers and a move that should have taken 3-4 hours was stretched into 6 hours and we were charged multiple times during the job for the added on time they took. They also ended up breaking one of my plastic bins with my belongings inside and didn't offer any remediation for it nor did they notify me (I found it after the move was done). Very disappointing experience!

I waited awhile before writing this because I genuinely needed time to process how fucking…read moreridiculous this experience was. I wanted to make sure I fully understood just how bad the value was before I said anything. And honestly? I feel completely scammed and played. First of all, I was NOT given the actual details of how far these movers were from me. I was told they were "located in San Marcos." Okay... then why the hell were they driving to downtown Austin to move me? That made absolutely no sense, but I didn't think much of it at the time bc from my understanding that was the least of my worries. Then I get charged a random driving fee for them getting to me. I was completely blindsided. The guy expressed he explained this one the phone but no the fuck you didn't. I would have canceled right then and there. But Fine still thought max I would pay plus gratitude was 400. But the worst part was I was moving into an apartment literally about 10 feet away from where I was already living. I barely had anything to move, which I specifically told them. Yet they showed up with a MASSIVE truck that I didn't even need or use. Then somehow, after TWO HOURS of moving a very small amount of stuff literally 10 feet away, the bill came out to around $600 PLUS gratuity. $600. For moving my stuff 10 fucking feet. What exactly was I paying for? A luxury relocation experience? A parade? Were they supposed to do backflips while carrying my boxes? Maybe make me dinner afterward? Because for $600, the expectations apparently should've been Cirque du Soleil. And here's what really pissed me off. When I gave feedback and said that customers should at least be given a realistic estimate or ballpark price BEFORE agreeing to the service, the representative basically told me, in so many words, that if they told customers the actual price, nobody would book them. Well... fucking exactly. If I had been told beforehand that moving my small amount of belongings approximately 10 feet was going to cost me around $600, I would have said ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT, BETTY CROCKER. I would have told those movers to turn that giant-ass truck right around, drive back to the North Pole or wherever the hell they came from, and stay in their own damn area. Instead, I was hit with random fees that were never clearly explained upfront. And when I mentioned that I had receipts and questioned the charges, suddenly the representative was ready to offer me a 10% discount. Oh, NOW there's flexibility? That makes the whole thing feel even worse. Customers should not have to argue, present receipts, or threaten to leave a bad review before suddenly being offered a discount. If the charges are legitimate, explain them clearly from the beginning. If they aren't, don't just throw random bullshit onto the bill and hope people pay it. And the attitude from the representative made everything even worse. Instead of actually listening to my concerns or showing even a little empathy, I was met with an attitude that was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. Maybe take a fucking Xanax, calm down, and learn how to speak to people who are rightfully questioning why they were charged hundreds of dollars for a move that took two hours and went basically 10 feet. I genuinely feel terrible for the actual workers because this is not their fault. To the movers: PLEASE QUIT AND FIND YOURSELF A BETTER COMPANY TO WORK FOR. You deserve better than working for a company that leaves customers this pissed off and apparently leaves employees to deal with the fallout. As for the representative: you were by far the worst part of this experience. Telling a customer that you don't give them the "legit" price because otherwise nobody would book you is an absolutely insane thing to say to someone who is already upset about being overcharged. I am beyond disappointed with this company. The lack of transparency, the unexplained fees, the ridiculous price, and the way my concerns were handled were completely unacceptable. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. If you're considering booking them, ASK FOR THE TOTAL PRICE AND EVERY SINGLE FEE IN WRITING BEFORE THEY TOUCH YOUR STUFF. Otherwise, you may end up paying hundreds of dollars and wondering what the hell you just got charged for. I would never use this company again, and I would strongly encourage anyone else to think twice before giving them your money. I hope this company gets sued or goes out of business. Sweet dreams. And if I could give this negative stars it would be so far back in the negatives it wouldn't be able to ever recover.

It's not often you find a team that's this efficient while still taking the time to be so careful. If you're looking for movers you can trust, I can't recommend Einstein Movers enough. I don't even know where to start…read more I feel completely taken advantage of, mislead, and bullied after working with Little Guy Movers on what was supposed to be a very simple move from a house to a storage facility nearby. At the inception of the job, I was quoted a very high amount for a local move, which I agreed to, as I had no other option and needed a move quickly. Ryan sold me on their diligence, their process, and the various roles of each worker; little of which came to fruition on our job. We had to plead and advocate for several of our items to be packed properly, after discovering very shoddy work. Some parts of furniture were only covered with very little shrink wrap, which they ran out of quickly as they did not have enough of the necessary materials to complete our job. This left us feeling very confused and very frustrated as we paid such a high premium for this very average-seeming move into empty storage units. Many of our items had to be transported to the storage facility loosely and improperly due to the lack of materials, to be properly packed later at the destination. Ultimately we had to take on the burden and risk of our items being damaged in transit to the storage units due to the companies mistake. There was little to no protocol conducive to an organized job. Many of the men were seemingly unsupervised, and much of the time, doing little to help move things along. We were concerned that most of the men working had little to no experience moving items. Our items were not labeled, which we were promised before the job. This was something very important to us as we wanted to keep track of our items. In the end, we paid over $4,000 for about 8 hours of work, that very well could have been 4-6 hours of work with a decent protocol and the necessary supervision. We highly regret trusting this company with our items, money, and time. It was a reminder to us that we really cannot let our guard down and trust anybody at face value, even when paying such a premium and being promised a great product. Since we were not provided a receipt in person, I was left to discover that the card was charged just over $4,400 through square. We are not sure how to justify this amount as we do not have a receipt. We are seriously so upset and felt compelled to share our experience.

(0930) unfortunately he had to park in the street because our ancient Durango would not start so I couldn't move it or he could've pulled up a little closer into the driveway. DO NOT HIRE SIMPLER MOVING!!!…read more **Use the services of Simpler Moving if you have a lot of money and don't want any broken items paid for after you've paid for their services.** Luke, Stephen, and Sawyer were very polite and easy to work with... while packing things. Luke and Stephen then unpacked everything as requested, putting things where I asked, which did save me the hours of unwrapping all my things, freeing me from breaking down all the boxes and dealing with all the packing paper. *Keep in mind* I knew going in that I had hired one of the most expensive movers out there, but I had to move very quickly so had little choice. HOWEVER... When I contacted Luke, then later Layne the owner, after I found a broken clock, a ripped duvet cover, and I realized the tape used to keep my earrings from falling out of my earring pocket storage display had ruined it (removal of the tape left a sticky residue I couldn't get off even with Goo Gone) I was IGNORED COMPLETELY. Then, Layne promised it was so a mix-up and my money would be refunded back on my credit card I paid with originally. Still haven't seen that money. This was after I had written a GLOWING review (which they did respond to, go figure).  I included photos of my destroyed items. I even sent screenshots of exactly where replacements could be ordered including each replacement cost. Total reparations only came to $106.19. Considering I paid them $3,421.80 to move and unpack for me, I can't believe Layne is so cheap that he is SIMPLY avoided paying for so little, and so easily. Sure wish I could get back even some of the extra tip money I overpaid. It would easily cover the cost of my things.
