Li's Garden is your typically Chinese food. I usually get General Tso chicken at Chinese take-out restaurants, but I'm not a fan of their General Tso chicken. The sauce seems almost like it has a texture of ketchup, so I would probably not recommend the General Tso. The sweet and sour chicken is of what can be expected. I can recommend the egg drop wanton soup, which is a nice combination of egg drop and wanton soup. The lunch and dinner specials are reasonably priced. Li's Garden is a pretty safe option for Chinese food. They always have good service and your order is ready quickly. We tend to order over the phone and then go and pick it up. They have never gotten our order wrong. Truthfully, their fried rice isn't my favorite. However, I really like the pork lo mein and sweet and sour pork. The vegetable soup is actually amazing. Let's start with the positive.... they are opened on Sundays and late (10pm for the southside) and nearby! Now, let's go with the negative. The food was okay. My lunch special was suppose to come with soup (no egg roll or crab ragoon just soup). I didn't even get my soup. By the time, I went back in and get a menu and verify, I didn't care any more. So, for 7 bucks you get some yellow rice (its not fried) and some meat heaped in a foil container. I've had better, and was definitely looking for something other than the subway and pizza joint that is in the strip mall. The crab ragoon was really chewy and had a distinct after taste. Would be better if they used white meat for the general and sesame. Prices are good, the owner is always kind and flexible with food requests, so we return often. This place is awesome. They're celebrating their grand opening and I really really hope they make it. Their prices are very manageable and their menu has a LOT of options. Of note: their veggie fried rice is delicious and has all fresh ingredients. Of bigger note- their crab rangoon. You get 8 in one order for $3.50- which is a great value. They're not the typical crab rangoon with lots of faux crab filler- these are the real deal with creme cheese inside with the crab. They're delicious. I've gone twice in one week to eat here. The atmosphere is eh, it's next to the SuperCuts and Donato's Pizza so it's not super swanky but it will do. They've got a TV in there that gets extended sports channels. :) They don't have a soda fountain machine- rather than sell canned/bottled sodas and water. Their cans are .75 and go up to a 2 liter for $2.50. This is a great carry out place, but both times I've been in there there have been people eating. Definitely recommend this one! The only con I see is that they don't deliver (so far). p.s. - be sure to grab one of the business cards off the counter; they have a program on the back where you get a stamp for each $10 you spend and after five stamps, you get $5 off! They modify their recipes to suit my needs. I'm diabetic and always tell them to hold the sugar in their sauce/recipe and keep it low on oil. Pros: Restaurant is exceptionally clean, pleasant design and lighting. Food is good. I always get the General Tso's Chicken and I am always impressed with the portion size, flavor. Very good. I really dislike restaurants that do this and Li's Garden is one of them. They offer Coke and Pepsi products in 2-Liter bottles, cans, or 18-ounce bottles for purchase out of a cooler. They offer ice that they keep behind the counter. It's ok if you are doing take-out, but eat-in...well, I guess maybe I just drink too much soda for this to work! No refills! Like Temeka, the earlier reviewer said, there are some menu inconsistencies. I have found that I need to really be careful to order EXACTLY what I want because they offer a couple of different options. And a few times I think we have been overcharged and/or not given all of the food we ordered. I don't know if it was intentional, I just try to really be careful when ordering here. I also noticed when I have ordered here (as is the case at a lot of Asian restaurant), there is a tendency on the part of the person taking my order to "upsell." ie. to try to get me to purchase an appetizer or soup or a bigger portion. This place have the worst Chinese food ever. The portions are small, but thank you for the small portions because I barely took a few bites before I gave up. The rice is nasty af. I will never return to this restaurant. The lady was nice, but she did look at us like she was saying to herself, "are you sure ya'll want to try this?" We should have took that look and left, but we ended up with trash after spending $30. Nasty food!! They should give us back our money because all the food went in the trash. My kids hated it. My man and I both thought it was the worst Chinese food we had ever tasted. Jumbo shrimp in Lobster sauce was BS. Why are ya'll shrimps so slimy?? What is that white mess in the liquid? It looks like semen. Yuck!!!! It appeared to be shrimp, but it was extra particles hanging from the shrimp. The shrimp look like they were the rejects at the plant and somebody just dug them out the trash and used them to serve to customers. Sounds familiar??? I think that is what happened in our case.
