Ah, yes, the strawberry rum cake... Lisa's classic strawberry rum cake is wonderful. It is so moist and is pretty close to heaven in your mouth! Not kidding. They do offer other flavors, but this is the most popular flavor. And for the record, it did not disappoint! If you're not looking to get a large cake, they offer mini cake slices too that can satisfy maybe two people. The young lady at the front was friendly and courteous when I came in to pick up a cake. I went to get some slices as we have never been there. Their entire case was empty, which is fine it tells me they are busy. The staff was helpful and let me know what was available in the back and what they were getting ready to slice. My youngest son is in love with the unicorn cake. My dad and I like the strawberry rum. The carrot cake was a hit for my oldest son and husband. The tuxedo was amazing and I'm not even a chocolate cake fan. Go in and grab a slice you won't be disappointed. read more

I had enjoyed Cathy's Rum Cakes for years. I had not had in a very long time. My husband surprised me with Lisa's Rum cake for my birthday. The cake was very cute, round cake with pink, purple and blue flowers and unicorn decor. I was very excited that he got me a Lisa's Rum Cake. I remember how delicious they were. This cake did not taste good. The taste was very off. It was a cream filled yellow cake with strawberries. There were 11 of us and no one ate their whole slice of cake. The icing had a metallic taste. The cake did not have any rum flavor and was just very bland. I tried another piece the next day, as I tried to eat it, my thought was this does not taste good and ended up tossing the rest of that piece. The cake was over $100 and we ended up throwing away the rest of it. What a waste. I am a sweets person and I have never had the experience of something tasting so bad that I would throw it away. My husband apologized to me for the cake. He really wanted to do something special and was sad that it was so bad. read more

I wasn't sure this place existed until another business on Instagram posted about them. I tried the strawberry rum cake and the chocolate chocolate rum cake. Both were awesome! It was a little on the pricy side, but very good. If it were a little cheaper, I may be back more often. Until then, we will come on special occasions. Check them out. read more

Ohhhhh Lisa's rum cake is sooooo gooood. I used to eat Cathy's rum cake when I used to live in phoenix, in fact, I think the cake at my dad's wedding was a Cathy's rum cake. So I was sad when I saw the Cathy's empty! Come to find out, Cathy's daughter Lisa opened in another location! So the BF got me a little tiny cake for my birthday because I had been craving one for all 4 years we lived out of state. It was chocolate raspberry, and it was delicious! It was also beautiful, it had edible glitter and was just really yummy. I will continue to come here for all of my cake needs :-) read more

I have had Lisa's Rum Cake on several occasions and every cake was delicious. My favorite flavors are Chocolate Coconut, Chocolate Cannoli and Tuxedo but personally all of their chocolate cakes are to die for. They strive to make every experience a pleasurable one. They will even offer a grand tour of their cake factory when you pick up your cake. Kelly really enjoys explaining the new technology behind their business. The owners Kelly and Lisa are the nicest people you will ever meet and their entire operation is family based. I am obsessed with Lisa's Rum Cake so much that they offer a cake that they once tailored for my picky taste (try the Neapolichip, I promise you'll love it). I have used Lisa's Rum Cake for several parties, my wedding reception (they coordinated drop off with my venue for me!), holiday gifts, and I have purchased CUTS just for fun. I've also gone to their open-house tastings twice, which is almost better than Christmas. Lisa's is famous for the flavor of their cakes as opposed to extravagant designs. While their cakes look beautiful, I don't believe they make the 10 tiered, jeweled, extravagant cakes you might see in a bridal magazine. Because they're focused on the flavor, I don't think they ever work with fondant (yuck). I also believe all of their cakes are non-alcoholic, if that matters to you. The only thing better than their cake is their customer service. We called them apparently after they closed 3 weeks ago, and without asking who was calling, they said they would stay there for a half hour to let us purchase some CUTS. While we were there, Madison offered to make us a cake on the spot (!!!), and we had a blast chatting with her and Lisa, as well as the rest of the family. Apparently, I've promoted them so much on my personal Facebook page that a friend wrote me thinking that I worked for LRK. I figured that was a good sign that I should officially write some sort of review. read more

Thanks to frequent appearances on Groupon (plus the 15% cashback bonus from Discover), I've gotten two more cakes from Lisa's, and I've been very happy with them. I got the chocolate rum last month which was crazy delicious. I loved the rum flavor in the custard, and the cake chocolate layers were incredibly moist. Ditto for the strawberry rum I got today. This is the flavor that they were known for back when Cathy's Rum Cake was around. It's the cake we had at my grandmother's 75th birthday nearly 20 years ago, and it tasted just as good as I remembered. The cake is really some of the best I've had. I bake all the time, and there's no way I could do anything this good. I'm surprised how much I like the custard filling because usually I don't like that sort of thing, but it goes perfectly with the cake and the just-sweet-enough Italian whipped cream frosting. Just a couple things keep me from giving them a 5th star. It's a bit steep without a coupon or discount. My sister is begging for one of their cakes for her birthday so if there's no Groupon available, I'll stick with the 25%off flavor of the month discount. Lastly, my cake today said "Doris" instead of "Dons" for the two guys named Don I was gave the cake to. I guess I can't get too upset though since we have a great new nickname for our boss. read more

Moist cake(not box mix) and no super sweet hard frosting but instead a creamy whipped cream of some sort... I am a repeat customer. I'm never disappointed. Ordered the atomic for a birthday. The entire staff was speechless. Melt in your mouth delectable goodness with every bite! You just didn't want it to end. It was baked fresh. The birthday girl was beyond satisfied and grateful. I love that I'm always getting great deals via email. It's no Kathys Rum Cake unfortunately. Not sure what they did or where they went wrong but they definitely went wrong. The cake itself was very dry, the creams and fruit parts were fine, except the bananas. Which were WAY too ripe and brown to go in a cake. Almost sour. We have been going to Cathys for over a decade and won't be continuing on with Lisa's now that Cathy is gone. You're seriously better off just going to Costco or Sams Club now. Their cakes taste better. Especially considering how insanely priced Lisas is. read more

Used a groupon to order a birthday cake. Ordering was easy online, as was inputting the groupon code. The cake was ready on the day and time requested, and the cake itself looked beautiful. We had a strawberry banana rum cake and it was delicious. The cake was very moist and you could taste the rum flavor (non-alcoholic), and the filling was oh so good. Because the original price is so high ($30 for a 6") I am a bit hesitant to order from them again. My max for a small cake is normally at the 20-25 dollar mark. read more

Italian dessert heaven the classic rum cake is absolute perfection. I grew up eating homemade rum cake and her cake brings back all the memories & feels. The cannolis are yummy and have more of a soft outer shell as opposed to the typical crispy deep fried kind. The cannolis also have a hint of an almond flavor to them? They are different to the kind I'm used to but still exquisite nonetheless. Everything i have tried from her has been phenomenal. The idea for Lisa's Rum Cake, LLC began in August 2001 when the founder of Cathy's Rum Cake & (Catering) in Chandler, Arizona., decided to sell her daughter and son-in-law the rights to make and sell "Cathy's Rum Cakes®." Their plan was to build the Cathy's Rum Cake brand by offering these unique cakes to people outside the Phoenix area. Cathy's Rum Cake Worldwide was incorporated in the State of Arizona in October 2007. Factory construction was completed in May 2009 and Operations began officially on July 1. By October 2010 the founders realized that a name change was necessary to eliminate Customer confusion. In October 2010 Lisa's Rum Cake, LLC was formed. Meet the Business Owner: Kelly P.

President and co-owner (along with wife Lisa) of Lisa's Rum Cake, LLC. Kelly received a BSME from Arizona State University in 1980. After a 26 year engineering career, Kelly left his engineering management job to pursue the specialty cake business he had licensed from his mother-in-law. Kelly is a fourth generation native of Arizona; his grandfather moved to Arizona the late 1880's. His grandfather homesteaded Power Ranch in 1920 and grew cotton, potatoes, wheat, apricots, peaches, and plums until it ceased operations in 1999.

I'm just not a big sugar fiend so I found the shake to be extremely sweet and gooey...wife loved it! I didn't try the marshmallow but she said it was good and she could tell it was homemade. We decided we would try the store in Gilbert at some point this summer to see what other goodies they offer. Overall, a good treat and thank you for the free goodie! I did exactly that, same day. That was 5/27. It is now 6/9 and I have not heard a word back. No email, no call, no text. The original incident was 5/10, so we are at 30 days now. This wasn't a stray hair - that's relatively benign and sometimes happens in food prep, not great but harmless. This was a different category of foreign body in food: fragments that looked like they came off equipment, which means whatever produced them is presumably still in use, still capable of doing it again to the next person. This is what made the unresponsiveness frustrating. It's not about my daughter's one açaí bowl, it's about whether the thing that caused it ever got looked at. A simple "we looked at it, can't determine yet what happened, but we'll update you" would have been fine, but I got boilerplate "you deserve better" corporate slop. I didn't want my ego stroked, I wanted them to look into something serious. They are great at moving fast in public: their Yelp! reply was up within a day, right under my review, where everyone can see it. But the private follow-up, the part nobody else is watching, has now gone three weeks radio silent, after they were the ones who asked for my number, but never used it. Fast when it's visible, and crickets when it's not, tells you where the attention really goes. If you're reading this and trying to decide, take a little time with the reviews here, the detailed ones and the thin ones, the recent and the older, and decide for yourselves if there is a pattern or not. I'm done with them, they lost my trust. For the record, their açaí bowls when they don't contain bits of industrial machinery are pretty good, but we'll go to Swami's when we are in Oceanside and will try to find something else in the valley.

East coast bakery lovers, this is for you. A family owned/operated bakery specializing in Italian desserts. And they only use whipped cream frosting! They are known for their cakes...the Strawberry French Vanilla is my personal favorite as it's been all of my birthday cakes...but their cake cuts and new Sicilian Cannoli are to die for!!! Cake cuts are their alternate to cupcake. Single-serve slices big enough to share or indulge in yourself. The bakery always has a large selection of flavors (10-12 I think). The new Italian Rainbow Cake is inspired by Italian Rainbow cookies, filled with cannoli cream and amaretto custard. The ganache drip on top is equally appealing to the tastebuds as it is the eyes. Don't forget Unicorn Cake! My friends love how colorful and tasty those are. I love giving cuts for gifts. Let me say, you have never had a cannoli like Lisa's...they put their Italian custard inside with their Sicilian ricotta Cannoli cream. As if that's not decadent enough, they bake their own shells out of Italian Pizzelle cookies!! I hate the typical fried Cannoli shells, so if you do too then you'll LOVE these. Get a loaded Cannoli if you want whipped cream, ganache, and a cherry on top ;) Give Lisa's a try if you're sick of the super sweet, out-of-a-can cakes and treats! I've been here 3 times in 2 weeks after discovering it and plan to go again in the next couple days. There's so much try! They even do high tea, which is a treat to find!
