I loved this place. The service was great and the drinks were great. While the service part still holds true, I've been pretty disappointed with the drinks lately. I've had several drinks from them the past two months and I've got to say...it didn't really taste like how I remembered it to be. The green milk tea is still good, but the boba has been really soft and mushy the past few times :( And not only one time, but a COUPLE of times. I wish the boba here could be more consistent. Service is really great and I love the owner lady for her friendliness. They definitely could switch up their menu a little bit since they weren't able to make a wintermelon milk tea for me here, since they were not aware of how to make it. Came here because I was craving black sesame hot dessert on a hot day. Maybe it was my bad to ask for a hot dessert when it was 95 degrees outside. I love everything here except I don't think the AC was on. Their door was wide open so it was a bit uncomfortable to sit there while waiting for my order to come. I literally took the bowl and sat in my car with the AC blowing in order to finish it. The dessert itself was very good. I added taro and sweet potato balls in it. I wanted to update since my last review from 7 years ago lol. Currently, I like this place because they have the best price on milk tea with boba! I think this is the only place in 2020 where you can get a milk tea with boba for less than $4, which is a steal compared to most places that charge $5.50 - $6! If you're used to milk teas that are milkier and have a much stronger tea flavor like Half and Half's, the milk tea here will taste a bit watered down. But this is just my opinion and some people might prefer this taste. The boba is soft and fresh here though and the price is so affordable I can totally live with it. I also like to support this place because it seems they're a small mom and pop and not a large franchise like alot of other more popular milk tea places. It doesn't have the "trendy" feel of some other boba places so it doesn't seem to get as much business from young people who like to sit and hang out. However, it has a cute, cozy, old-school atmosphere. They make a variety of drinks and desserts including traditional Taiwanese-style shaved ice. This is one of my favorite mom and pop owned businesses in Rowland Heights. The same group of older ladies have been working there ever since I was in elementary school. This is such a fun and unique place to go to! It's not your typical cafe. Imagine your typical boba joint meets candy shop meets cafe. There's about four tables you can sit inside plus the couple of stools you can sit at their counter. There is a tv, but it's usually some Asian drama or game show. They offer different board games/cards so that you and your friends can hang out. Just make sure you be respectful and put the games back after. Two thirds of the store is dedicated to their candy/Asian snacks. A lot of them are individually bagged which I think is convenient. They've also recently started selling scoops of ice cream. I used to always come here for shaved ice with friends. They have raised the price since to $4 :/ but you get four topping choices included. I love their rice balls, coffee jelly, and regular jelly as toppings!They have a decent choice of toppings and offer their shaved ice to go too! I haven't ordered a drink that I didn't like here. I do warn you their boba is warm and super soft-meaning fresh! If that's not your thing, then shy away from this place. I always tpi my drink upside down (before puncturing the top with my straw of course haha) to mix the boba with the drink. Some of my friends' first sips have been the warm boba, so I find the upside down trick to be helpful. They accept credit cards without a minimum here. Super rare. my first taste of real boba. i used to come here all the time (late 90s) and get the aiyu jelly with boba. they cooked the tapioca balls to perfection. it was warm soft and chewy just the way its supposed to be. some places undercook the tapioca balls so while it's soft on the outside you still get the hard powder center on the inside which is no bueno but little bean does it right. everything is fresh because they make it in front of you even the aiyu jelly tastes homemade as opposed to canned. Came back years later and had the taro, mango and fresh watermelon juice which was all really good. Can't go wrong with fresh mango and taro fresh fruit in general. service was decent. the workers are friendly which is rare at an asian establishment. As far as I know this isn't a chain so support your local mom and pop shops. They do it right. read more

I was surprised to see Little Bean as it was a place I used to frequent in my high school and early college days (and that was a long time ago). Nothing has changed much. A few tables, random things for sale (like dried Taiwanese snacks and household goods), and a tea/snack menu that will take a few minutes to peruse. This review is based on three items that I recently tried: popcorn chicken, honey green tea with grass jelly, and shaved ice with taro, black sesame balls, grass jelly, and boba The shaved ice was pretty good as it had ample amounts of everything I requested. I especially liked the taro as it was flavorful and sweet. The black sesame balls tasted pretty good too. The boba lacked flavor - I guess I'm spoiled with all the flavored boba in the 626. The grass jelly was disappointing. It tasted like it was from 99 Ranch out of a can. This also led to a disappointing honey green tea with grass jelly. The tea lacked the expected bitter flavor from a high quality tea and the grass jelly, as previously stated, was disappointing. The popcorn chicken was acceptable, but nothing to rave about and I've had better at other Taiwanese tea shops. I'm sad to write only a 3-star review for Little Bean considering the friendly service and clean store. I do recall from many years ago that the boba milk tea here was pretty good, but my review is based on what I ordered a few days ago. Been in this plaza since I can remember, more than 20+ years, if I remember correctly. We used to come to Little Bean for boba way before all the other milk tea joints opened up, Half & Half, Phoenix, and other locations nearby. They have Taiwanese drinks and snacks. During the summer, it seems a majority of the customers go in for shaved ice. It's a small, quaint location and the staff are friendly. There are no restrooms for customer use so one would need to use the ones in the food court. Parking spots here are exceptionally tight, but it is an Asian plaza so it is to be expected. Parking can be limited as well with the amount of restaurants here in the plaza and depending on the time of day you are there. read more

I've visited this Pacific Plaza for more than a dozen times over this past decade and I never noticed this hidden boba & snack & Asian candy shop until I was looking for some boba places via Yelp about one month ago. The menu is pretty straightforward - Taiwanese shaved ice, juices (e.g. red sour plum), teas (e.g. ginseng fruits), flavored red / green teas (e.g. almond or honey milk red / green tea), smoothies (oh I see durian with milk!), Italian coffees, and hot desserts (mainly hot grass jelly, soy bean jelly a.k.a. tofu flower, yellow fungus & dates & lotus seed, etc). Taro milk (smoothie, small $3.95 + boba $0.50): The lady asked me if I wanted taro powder or real taro. Obviously I told her "real taro please"! Boba were warm & super soft and taro flavor was very balanced (not too sweet & not too milky). The drink actually tasted a bit like mung bean milk tea from 7 Leaves Cafe. Sweet owner and old school (like before Half & Half Tea House's emergence) boba joint - nothing fancy here, just serving excellent quality boba drinks. P.S. - Don't forget about the stamp card! I used to come in and order their delicious milk tea as a teenager way back when, but then I later developed an intolerance to lactose so I could not handle the milk anymore! Boo!! We ordered just a regular milk tea with boba. It was pretty delicious but not the best I've ever tasted. I do agree that the boba does seem to melt in your mouth b/c it's just THAT soft. I don't know, I guess for me I'd like my boba to be a little bit more chewy? Although my main complaint is that none of it is made fresh (although not many places are right?), which is just a downer ): However, I will say that the milk tea is quite good. Ordered: *boba milk tea: large size for $4.00- the boba is very soft. boba milk tea tastes better than the coconut green milk tea. it is also kinda watered down. the best part was probably the boba. *coconut green milk tea: small for $3.00-tasted watered down and towards the end is when i taste the coconut. it was a very light coconut after taste. I mean I know you're thinking. .. coconut green milk tea what was she thinking. Well I was thinking this sounds interesting. I like coconut and green milk tea do why not. This review is only for their SHAVED ICE! I wanted some Taiwanese shaved snow and since I wasn't familiar with the area, I went to the closest dessert shop to Chengdu Taste (where I just ate) and gave it a shot. When I walked in I was surprised to find a modest/traditional boba shop that sold other items such as tea eggs and items you would find at the market like tea oil and sun dried noodles. I expected a cutesy modern kind of shop but I was cool with this too as long as they knew what they were doing. What was disappointing was that they didn't specialize in shaved snow (fluffy creamy layered snow) as it was nonexistent here, instead they had shaved ice (crunchy ice bits). So I went for the mango shaved ice ($5 w/check in offer) which was made fairly quickly and then we paid after we received it. Since there were 3 tables in the store we claimed one of them as ours to enjoy our treat! There was plenty of snow ice to be split along 3 people. However, it was tadbit too sweet because it was drenched with condensed milk and brown sugar syrup so the consistency was crunchy-soupy on the bottom and crunchy-hard on top. There was plenty of mango bits evenly distributed within the layers of ice which I liked since most places usually just plop the toppings on top. The mango bits were sweet but not fresh and interesting enough they were translucent. The hot grass jelly w/ 3 toppings is $6.25. I went there around 8pm on Saturday night and it wasn't busy. The toppings were still chewy. I got taro, taro/sweet potato ball and rice ball. I wishes she gave me more taro chunks though... I only had 4 pieces and they're buried in the grass jelly. You could also adjust the sugar level but it's typically not too sweet already. Cute taiwanese cafe, makes you feel like youre actually in Asia. If not the food, the ambiance of this place makes me want to come hang out late at night. You'll find kids hanging out just shooting the shit and playing games, or an old couple reading the paper. Menu is pretty extensive with drinks, I tried the shaved ice here which is a little bit smaller than a place like Shal May but still decent. My siblings and I have been coming here occasionally for maybe the last 15 years. Love the shaved ice here because the toppings are good. It's the typical snowcone-like crushed ice with the toppings underneath, which I guess makes them bottomings? (haa haa). There are a variety of toppings to choose from, which include a variety of fruits, jellies, boba, peanuts, rice balls, etc. My usual 4 are condensed milk (I would like to one day choose all 4 for condensed milk and see what comes out), peanuts, rice balls, lychee. I've tried mixed fruit before, and I'm not a huge fan of that one because it's a fruit cocktail but the peaches are slightly brown. Almond jelly is pretty good too. The milk tea is potent and I love that in milk teas. I love the strong tea taste and not having the milk overpower the drink. In addition, their boba and coffee jelly is freshly made and so good! You get the soft chewy texture swishing your mouth if you opt for boba or go crazy and get the coffee jelly which truly tastes like coffee, unlike those other boba places. Another must mention about Little Bean is their shaved ice. Although they only got about 3 tables and a counter, the shaved ice really blows me away. The drink can't be too sugary and sweet, while the bobas have to be soft and not tough. Chewy might be a happy medium, but any extra effort placed on my teeth to break down the boba and I'm definitely not satisfied. NO BUENO! The older Chinese couple that owns this place is happy to see me when I visit. There's hardly any wait and you can tell that the workers pour some love into the cup, as well as the liquid and the ingredients. At an age where people seldom spend time with the details, it's nice to know that Little Bean does their part to make your refreshing beverage the right way. On a side note, they do carry sour candy, a few other treats, along with some Chinese snacks and tea that I've never seen in my life. The people who work here are always SO NICE, they chat with me when I'm waiting for my drink and one of them is especially nice & mom-like (but w/o the nagging). They use quality ingredients and put so much care into each drink they make. The things I have ordered are: Boba Milk Tea: Their milk tea is very good and there is a strong tea taste. Solid milk tea in my opinion; it's what they're known for. NOTE: Their boba is the extremely soft kind that does not have any hardness so it is SUPER soft. Not my favorite kind of boba but I know a lot of people who prefer super soft rather than QQ. If you order it with boba, the boba will be hot when you get it because they keep it warm in order to keep the soft consistency. Green Bean Slush: Very good for those who like green bean soup. The slush is like a an icy milkshake with real green blended into it. It's very good for when you are hungry because this will make you full. Passion Fruit Green Tea w/ Han Tian: Also very good. The tea taste is very strong and it is not too sweet. I do not like drinks that are too sweet so I normally order half sugar, but I do not need to order half sugar at this place. MY FAVORITE DRINK: Lemon Passion Juice w/ Han Tian: I love passion fruit tea but I love sour drinks as well. This is a perfect mixture of my two favorites together. I order this drink the most out of everything and I am willing to drive 10 minutes just to get this. When I order this, the nice lady who makes my drink will take out a fresh whole lemon, halve it and then squeeze the juice into the drink, so the juice is super fresh, which makes the drink so much better. In addition, Little Bean has the best Han Tian out of all the stores that I have tried it in. Not many stores have it but when the store has it, I have to try it. Little Bean's Han Tian is firm and chewy and makes a great addition to any drink that is tea/juice based (but maybe not milk based). I love this store so much and the employees here always make me so happy. If I ever make it big as a millionaire, I would seriously tip them $100 each time I come here because I love this store & its people so much. read more

I've been on this boba craze lately just for good milk tea. This is definitely a little mom and pop shop. A little ghetto and run down - especially compared to the other restaurants and tea joints in the area. But there's a lot of Chinese type snacks that you can find here for decent prices. Plums, dried and jerkies. Bought a bag of Chinese Quaker Oatmeal Cereal that was Taro and Grain. Pretty tasty but I think it's something you can find in Ranch 99 or stores of the sort. We got the Taro and the Plain Milk Boba. The boba is pretty tasty. Very soft and sweet. I'm not a huge fan of boba but this was definitely one of the better places I've had boba at. The taro drink was amazing! Actual taro and blended to a sweet creaminess. The milk tea was also good but nothing to really go gaga over. If you're in the area and wanting good drinks, this place would be a decent place to hit up for good boba. They have stiff competition with the tea joint down in the elbow of the plaza. What happened to this place? When I lived in the area, I used to be a regular here... so I know how good their shaved ice used to be. I came back recently and discovered that they raised their prices and made their shaved ice smaller in size! That is not ok. The shaved ice is $4.00 for only 4 toppings (and if you choose condensed milk it counts as one of the 4 toppings). If you want more toppings it'll cost you extra. Why come here when Simbala is just a stone's throw away. Their shaved ice is huuuge and costs a little more ($5.50) with about 10 toppings! This is a great place to come and grab a snack and relax. The table area is small but comfortable and relaxing. Taiwanese products and food I am not familiar with are sold here. That being said the staff is SOOO patient, helpful and informative. I was totally comfortable asking questions and never felt rushed nor ignorant. Though they don't have the ever popular honey boba, their tapioca pearls are always fresh, warm, and have the right amount of chewiness to them. Another favorite of mine is the mango ximilu, which has fresh mango chunks, mango juice, and tiny transparent tapioca balls. I usually get this oh-so-refreshing drink when it's an especially hot day in SoCal or when I want something fruity. They also sell shaved ice for about $4.50 and you can get up to three toppings like red bean, grass jelly, lychee, longan, and more. Can't forget the condensed milk! Their brown sugar slush with grass jelly and pudding tastes absolutely amazing ! I love how they always put up a new flavor for people to come in and get a sample of.
