The Eggs Benedict was full of the lemon flavor I like and the English muffin was crispy and soft at the same time. The side of hash browns were crunchy and delicious which was the cherry on top. Service is fine, but the place gets busy and I'm sure if you get there during peak hours you'll have some waiting to do. This was our go to breakfast joint for the brief time we lived in the area. Homemade and home cooked breakfast and brunch. This place is fairly small but seats many and parking can be tough. There is a line every time. Lines to me are signs of good food. Blueberry Ricotta Waffle, don't be shy the ricotta is not strong in flavor but helps elevate the waffle. Great flavor. Biscuit and gravy was pretty good, I like sausage to be present in my gravy and they got it right. Sweet tooth, Pound Cake French Toast, fabulous. Nutty French Toast, what dream did they have when bringing this to life. It's like a candy bar for breakfast. Toffee waffle, Just do it. Little delicate morsels of toffee to smack your tastebuds into good morning sunshine. As I write this I realize this place could be a gateway to happiness. Have eaten here 2-3 times and the service is usually really good. Its fast and their workers never stand around. I took my mom here to start the day in Florence and it delivered again. The bacon and eggs I had were awful, yesterdays hashbrowns and charred burnt bacon when asked for soft limpy, i literally choaked on the crisp dusty hashbrowns. On top of that, the service was incredibly unhelpful, it was like i had offended him by saying what was wrong with the meal he seemed so annoyed with me like i should have been a bug on his shoe. This place is great. I can't wait to come back. The place was packed but thebwait time wasn't too bad. I could see thebservice station from where i was sitting. They were slinging out so much food itnwas amazing to watch--and nothing came back. We tried to get a little bit of everything. The eggs Benedict had flavorful hollandaise and crispy hashbrowns. The thin lemon pancake is an European style item and it is wonderful to highlight their brand of jams ans syrups which we bought and took home with us. My family and I stopped by Florence to stay on our way down back to California and we're so glad we did because of this breakfast spot! We ordered the crunchy french toast, pancake, hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon and beignets. Every single thing was so good! The beignets were so good we ordered a second plate. Each order comes with 4. It was crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The French toast was perfectly crunchy and soft on the inside. The pancakes were crispy and fluffy! The bacon was thick and cooked to perfection. The hash browns were very crispy. The eggs were perfectly cooked - not overcooked! The owner was so nice and friendly. He even gave us the tip to stop by Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area to check out the elk. We're very much looking forward to stopping by this town again to eat here in the future! read more

I had the blueberry pancake and coffee and both were tasty. I say "pancake" because I only ordered one--when I thought of ordering two, the sweet and warm server said "You sure? They're huge. They're about this big" as she showed me with her hands. She wasn't kidding! The service was the best I've experienced in quite some time. We had been to the Little Brown Hen Cafe a couple of times years ago and I remember LOVING it. When we planned our trip to Florence this time around, going here was at the top of my list. Unfortunately, either my memory failed me or we just had an 'off' experience. Our family of 4 arrived there Saturday morning not too long after they opened and they were already bustling. Before we could even be seated, the host walked by us and very blankly said "no outside drinks" as he pointed to the water bottles being held by my wife and 3 yo. Sure, this isn't the end of the world but it put a bad taste in my mouth right at the start. I understand if I was trying to bring in a soda or certainly alcohol, but this just seemed like a bit of an overreaction. Once seated, we waited what seemed like FOREVER. The same host helped several other people around us and it felt like we had been forgotten. It must have been 20 minutes before he finally came back to take our order. When we did get our food, we had to remind them about a couple of items they'd forgotten. The food was good, don't get me wrong. Our 7 yo raved about the sausage links and my wife and I were obsessed with the homemade strawberry jam on the table. My wife wasn't all that impressed with her chicken fried steak, but I tried it and liked it quite a bit. It was thicker than most chicken fried steak, which is where we differed in opinion. One other notable point: they only accept cash or check. Luckily for us, we saw the sign inside and decided to use the ATM there despite the fee. Such a cute place with excellent food! And given how busy they were, great service! We came on a Thursday morning and were able to be seated right away. Tables are close so keep that in mind. We had stuffed hash browns with all the meats and veggies, a meat omelette with mushrooms, and a crab omelette. Everything was very good. The crab omelette was $24, but had a good amount of crab and tasted delicious. Wait staff were a bit harried but still kind and efficient. We had originally planned on going to the Gingerbread House in Mapleton but they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. This was our first trip to the Cafe and upon arrival I noticed a local police officer and sheriff deputy so I knew it must be good. I ordered the classic Eggs Benedict and my wife ordered Biscuits and Gravy. The my order was cooked to perfection and the hashbrowns weren't over or under cooked. The Biscuits and Gravy got two thumbs up from my wife. We both had water to drink. $40 with tip. Bathrooms were clean, cafe style ambiance, quirky, and parking is limited but adequate. I would have given them five stars but the prices were high and they don't except plastic... so cash only (ATM onsite). I guess they take checks but I haven't written one in years and haven't seen one written at a restaurant in at least 20 years. read more
