I can confidently say I have never had a worse experience with a car shop or any service-related company in my life. I will spare you a long tirade and simply say my car was with them for more than 8 months, more than $4,000 total in, and I have a non-working car. I am absolutely shocked by the sexism I just experienced at Little Foreign Car car garage. My family has been going to them for over 30 years and I hadn't had any bad experiences except for maybe them interrupting me too much, but when I mention that my roommate had given me some advice about a car, one of the owners immediately asked me if they were a man or woman, as if that changed with her their opinion was valid or not. He then lied to the other owner who started it gaslighting me and literally hung up the phone. I am furious and I will never be going back. have my spitfire there for a few time spend lots of money . the worst costumer service ever ! Skipper think he is almost god or at least cousin and Dennis is rood too bad there is not too many shop around . defiantly will not go back. They mount a new transmission without putting a new Mounts 500mi and the shaft hitting the frame, call GOD and he told me NOT my problem . after spending at least 6k that's what i got for answer. i know the review will not stop people from going there just make sure you cover all your bases DO NOT TRUST skipper and Dennis for there word get it written. These guys are enthusiasts, not experts. I had PPI done on my Porsche that I was selling and they gave a long list of things that they claimed were major issues and scared the buyer out of buying. I then sent the car to a mechanic who worked for porsche and had been trained by them and who had access to the official Porsche PIWIS computer. After doing a thorough inspection, he laughed at the list that they provided. Most of the things that they listed were either inaccurate or minor cosmetic issues. I would not trust these guys with a simple oil change. read more

Fantastic, highly skilled garage with great customer service I'm an amateur auto racer and serious car guy with an Audi, a Porsche, and a BMW, all of which have been maintained by LFCG for about 10 years now. I'm fairly knowledgeable about cars (have historically done a lot of my own repairs and modifications) and pretty fussy about having things done right. Skipper and his team are extremely knowledgeable master mechanics who can take on even horrifically complex jobs (like my RS4 intake manifold throwing a screw into the number one cylinder) and fix them perfectly. They also do a great job of working with you to explain your options (e.g. repair or replace a given part; different sources for different parts), keep you in the loop as to progress, and are flexible as to scheduling. So very disappointed and shocked by the unprofessional conduct of Little Foreign Car. Do not bring your car here is my strong recommendation. We brought in my husband's Audi A4 this past Monday, it was towed in because it showed low oil pressure in red. They supposedly fixed it and we picked it up after hours on Wed. We live in Boston, so about 5min before getting home the same low oil pressure notification came on again. Called the Thurs. morning they said to tow it back again. We did that, in parallel I was trying to get a hold of them to discuss the tow charge as I felt we should not have to pay for the second tow if it was a result of them not fixing the car the first time around (each tow is $140). The receptionist, who in general is rude, and never calls you back when she says she will, said she could not make that decision and to call back Friday. We assumed they were working on the car, called back Friday, took a few hours to get a hold of someone. When my husband finally talks to the guy, they had NOT been working on the car, did NOT want to to discuss the tow charge, and said they were refusing to continue to work on our car at all!! So are now in a major bind, and have wasted a week with these guys. We have to now scramble to find another garage and get it towed AGAIN Friday night. We call a tow truck, the guy gets there and they did not leave our car outside so we were unable to get it !!! It still gets worse. They call us Saturday morning, say the car is out,we send the tow truck guy again. They had put the WRONG car out, so the tow truck gets to the new garage with someone else's car. My husband, with our 1 year old daughter, now has to drive back with them to return someone else's car and get our car. Our car finally made it to the garage, but I have never been screwed like this by any repair shop in Boston. They reimbursed us for the "repairs" they did (that left us with the same problem + an alignment), but we wasted a week of time struggling to get someone to fix our car, renting another car, spending hours driving there and back, two whole weekend days with their incompetence regarding the tow....etc, it was crazy. . read more

I went here because they were on the Tire Rack recommended installers list and had a cute name, and I was very pleasantly surprised! It was expensive to have four tires installed, but they did a good job and -- here's the really great part -- they let me hang out in the shop, gave me tips on installation stuff and track driving, and generally just hang out while they did the work. I usually get yelled at when I so much as step inside the work area, not invited in. They also did all the little touches that nowhere actually does: they mounted my wheels then did the tightening with a torque wrench, not the brainless monkey overtorquing that most shops do which makes the lug nuts impossible to remove yourself. I would definitely go back for future tire mounting or auto repair needs. read more

When I tell you I have been to a lot of mechanics in my life- I mean a lot. I found this garage to do excellent work. I have now taken 3 very different cars to them for repair. They take pride in their work. They stand behind their work. I get the feeling they care about making the customer feel happy and taken care of. They are old school master mechanics. Years and years of experience in that garage. I would definitely recommend them...and that is saying a lot because (no offense) I have a hate/hate relationship with car repairs. read more

I've been here a few times. As already mentioned they are not the cheapest place, but not terrible either, and they make up for any extra penny, by having truly good service, and really knowing what they are doing. I work around the corner, and usually drop off my Saab 9-5 here for service during the day and pick it up after work. I'm always impressed by the vast array of rare European cars theese guys are working on whern I stop by. I've seen everything including a classic rolls royce, BMW 2002's two Maserati Biturbos (at the same time) a bunch of classic Porsches and on. I once found that my foglight mount had cracked and it was danging from a thread. I faced dricing around with it dangling and risking it falling off and breaking at some expense. I stopped by to see if they could help me. They made new holes in it and mounted it back in place for me free of charge. I was very surprised and very pleased. Anything I don't feel lie doing myself, ranging from an oil change to major surgery on my car I bring it here for. I once had a fog light dangling by a thread after its mount broke. I stopped by to see if there was anything they could do to help me before it fell off and cost me $300 to replace. They took me in last minute, made extra holes in it, and attached it back on free of charge. I was surprised and amazed. These days if I have anything I need done to my car that I don't want to, or feel like doing myself, I bring it here. read more

Used this place to put a new set of tires on my car. A bit more expensive than the chain stores, but massively made up for it with great customer service. Got a next day appointment, the work was done in a couple of hours AND they got the inspection done for me even though their shop doesn't do them. Two weeks later I got a hand-written thank you card from them, with a coupon for 20% off my next visit. Love these guys. read more

If I could give less than a star,I would! Took my MB S550 for an alternator Change.I bought one and he made sure that I understand that there is no warranty for that one because it's not purchased by them.(Of course I've tried it the cheaper way because an original alternator would've cost me $1.200) he changed it,it didn't work...then he sent me to AutoZone where he spoke with the guys and changed that one aswell but it didn't work.He rolled me back and forth until I decided to let him buy the original part for $950. He asked for labor for all the parts he changed,which is ok if he wouldn't have sent me to buy from autozone.Then he told me that autozone will give my money back for labor because that wasn't the right part for my car.(Here I realised these two guys are on the same side!!!) okay...I said it's fine as long as the car works!!! Then on the paperwork he wrote one year warranty for labor and 2 for part!At first he said it'll be 2 years for labor and lifetime for part!!! Because I've noticed he asked me to go back and revrite the bill,so did I! While he did that,I even asked for a receipt for my part which he didn't wanted to give me but said he can show me the order he made,where I see he paid $450.00 for the part and he charged me $950.00!!!!(clever,right) read more

THEY ARE THE BEST I have a 2010 Mercedes E550. At my last service recently,my Mercedes dealer recommended that I replace my rear brakes (with them). I gave my car into Little Foreign Car Garage to have the rear brakes replaced. During the day Chuck called me to tell me that he didn't think my rear brakes needed replacement - they were't worn that badly. WOW! What car repair shop calls you to tell you that you don't need work done that you booked? That's a sign of a real reputable professional. Better than the MB dealers.... This is a great, honest repair place. They don't just repair foreign cars, either. I took my Ford van after my transmission went and got it back in 2 days. Other places said a week!! When I picked up my car, they suggested a tune up as "preventative maintenance". I should have done it too, because I was on vacation in Maine & my check engine light started blinking! I then took it back in and had it repaired in a day!! Other reviews say they are aggressive with preventing problems but they are doing you a favor!! read more

This shop has been extremely honest with me. Ill describe how i know this. My BMW E90 06 330I had a tensioner pulley making noise. (You know that teeth scrapping sound at the upper range.) Since my last mechanic had passed away, I needed a new one. So, I took the car to LFCG on the recommendation of a fellow Rotary member. Brought the car in, they confirmed my suspicions and we arranged a time to have it replaced. Paid a very fair price for both the part and the labor. Especially considering he is less than a mile from my home in Watertown. Walking distance really. Much more honest pricing and diagnosis that another shop (I wont name) i had look at the same noise. They tried to tell me it sounded like main bearings going bad.... Fast forward a bit, and i was picking the car up. As i was driving away, the new part failed. Every shops worst nightmare. Instead of making excuses, they made things right. Repaired the damage done by the failure and all associated parts. Amazing! Ill probably be a client for years based on this experience. Nice to have the trust issue out of the way. Skipper, the owner, has already gone out of his way to make sure that i was well informed and comfortable with the decisions being made. Helping me work within my budget has meant a lot. Now we have a second vehicle, and his shop will be the one working on it as well. read more

I'm going into the 5th year of Skipper and Chuck taking care of my 1980 Porsche 911SC. I brought the car to them originally because it had a fatal problem which no mechanic had been able to fix - The engine would die unexpectedly, even when under power. Since this car is a track car and I love to do Drivers Ed with PCA, losing power while you're going around a tight corner is not a good experience. Other mechanics had replaced quite a few parts and charged me a lot for guesswork but they hadn't dented the problem. After some careful road testing and diagnostics, Skipper broke it to me that my entire engine wiring harness had to be replaced. Given that it was my first experience with LFCG and given that I had many previous bad experiences with wrong diagnoses, I was pretty cautious but Skipper said he was sure this was the problem. He was right. The car suddenly became reliable. At the same time they pointed out that timing was wrong and fixed that. Over the last 4 years, they've taken this car from a flaky sometimes-on, sometimes-off performer to a reliable, powerful, 33 year-old fun track car. Nothing has been done that doesn't need to be done, and what has been done has always been careful to be most cost effective. When the brakes all had to be replaced, Chuck was wonderfully patient while we hunted down affordable replacement calipers. Most recently they discovered that some previous mechanic had siliconed a crack in the airbox and Skipper broke the news to me that it had to be replaced. Again, he was right. At this point, LFCG has my complete trust and that's not easy to get. I'm not some rich guy who fools around with race cars. But I do my love my 911 and I so thankful I found LFCG to take care of it. read more

I've used them a few times and found them to be over priced. I also thought they were a bit aggressive in terms of preventative maintenance-- i.e. replacing parts that are working fine but *might* fail. If you have something a bit more esoteric than the average car, I think these guys are the ones to care for your ride and know what they are doing. However for typical maintenance for most cars, I think their high prices are not warranted. read more

I've been taking my older BMW there for years. As has been mentioned they are not inexpensive, however, they are both a lot less expensive and a lot more competent than the dealer. They actually diagnose the problem rather than just replacing parts until something works. I had an electrical problem that stumped three other shops, each one of which replaced various components (I was traveling and couldn't get the car as far as Waltham) and they figured it out and fixed it. They probably are aggressive in recommending preventive repairs of failing parts, but they clearly explain every time the issue, the likely consequences and expected timeframe of a problem. They aren't offended if you decline to do the work they've suggested-- they are upfront about keeping your car in top shape, preventing breakdowns, and preventing very expensive problems subsequent to not doing certain maintenance items. I know I can find a shop that will be cheaper in the moment, but I've become convinced that I'm getting a good deal over the long term, plus I don't find myself sitting by the side of the road waiting for the wrecker when something critical has failed. read more

This shop is excellent! I highly recommend them. They have performed several jobs on my cars and all have been perfect. This includes the best wheel alignment with my steering wheel perfectly straight and an engine replacement. I experienced attention to detail and thoughtful customer care all at exceptionally fair pricing. The thing that makes this shop special is the level of craftsmanship and knowledge of late model and high end vehicles. They go the extra mile to get it right. What a little gem! I found lFCG through Tire Rack's list of recommended installers. I was desperate to have two tires installed, and LFCG fit me in same day. They even offered to give me a ride when I said I didn't want to wait for the car, and allowed me to pay by phone when I picked it up after hours. I was very impressed with their service, and their price to install was a very reasonable $35 per tire. Sure, you may be able to get a slightly better price from a chain, but wouldn't you rather know that the job was done right? I'll be back here for more service! read more

Great shop - have two classic BMWs - a 1973 2002 and a 1977 320i - they have worked on the 320i to my great satisfaction and will soon get to handle the 2002. They were able to diagnose and fix an air leak in the 320i's injection system that three other shops couldn't find or couldn't be bothered to look for - solved a hot start problem that others said was either the starter or the fuel pump. Lindsey Brown there is a great mechanic and knows the older BMWs inside out (the new ones too I expect). Have found them very reasonably priced and not expensive at all compared to the other places I have tried to date. Will continue to use them and recommend them highly. read more

Good mechanics, fine prices. These guys know their way around a car, and have often given me free check-ups or small repairs. My only complaint is that their air machine ate 2 dollars and wouldn't give me any air. Other than that, very good. read more
