The young man working the front counter was so patient and helpful while we decided what everyone wanted. The boys had seen people trying the infamous Reaper, so of course we decided we needed to see what all the fuss was about. We ordered ONE for all of us to try--and we probably should have known we were in trouble when I had to sign a waiver for each of us! Let me tell you...that Reaper was some kind of HOT! It definitely gave us a memory and a few laughs! Thankfully, we also ordered our regular meals medium and mild, and the food was really good! The chicken was flavorful, everything tasted fresh, and the kids especially loved their milkshakes. Great food, great service, and a fun first experience. We'll definitely be back--but I think we can officially say we've had enough of the Reaper!

Upon entering there were no lines so we walked up to the kiosk and ordered. Your name is called out on a pretty unintelligible loudspeaker when it's ready but there's also a big order screen to track your order. While we waited we noticed a store employee cleaning each table as customers left. Very nice! Additionally when I picked up our order the counter person mentioned their name in case I needed anything further. Clearly a big focus on customer service here! Our chicken was hot and fresh. No spice is literally no spice but did not taste unseasoned at all. Mild spice was actually a bit spicy. The servings were well sized and included pickles that were pretty tasty and one dipping sauce. I think extra sauce is available for a small fee. Overall we would return when we have a hot chicken craving.

It's late at night and we're driving home after doing grocery shopping when the crowds are gone. The hubcap wants to eat fast food out of the blue. Unfortunately, all the fast food places have dismal reviews except for two in this area. Plus, most of them are closed at that time. This is how we found Southern Style Chicken & Waffle. It closes at midnight and has southern food, my husband's favorite type of home style food. He loves mama's casseroles and mac and cheese due to being raised in the Deep South. It, also, had one of his favorite foods: waffle. Plus it is on the way. We head out there and notice an almost empty strip mall. Creepy but the neon sign said it was open. The place was empty & clean yet the opening of the door sent an alert ring for the staff to come out. I was impressed that you could have a waffle as a side with some of the entrees. I was tempted to order fried chicken until I saw the catfish on the menu. I ordered it with a side of mac and cheese to give to the job cap. He ordered the chicken sandwich with mac n cheese. We got it as takeout. The portions they give you are huge when compared to other fast food places. I got three large catfish fillets and a giant side of mac and cheese for $13.49. I wish I had ordered a larger portion after tasting the catfish fillet. You could instantly taste how it was prepared fresh - definitely not frozen. The fish was light ,succulent, and had a melt in your mouth texture. This is not the catfish you ate at a church fish fry. This catfish is exponentially better. The chicken sandwich was two chicken patties in a sandwich similar to chick fil a sandwich. I tasted it and thought it was better. My husband preferred chick fil a though. He really loved my catfish and my mac and cheese. I gave him all the mac and cheese. I split my three catfish fillets into two meals. Service was great. The server told us the catfish was Asian catfish and served it to me the way he preferred it: side of lemon with seasoning sauces on the side . He gave us a heads up that they cook the food fresh and it would take 15 minutes. We didn't mind the wait and waited patiently. We will definitely come back and order catfish, waffles, mac and cheese, and fried chicken when we come here. This is one our favorite late night go see fast food places. I love that it stays open late and has the best catfish I ever had in my life.

They weren't crispy like I prefer my Yuka fries so that was a downside however they do not skip out on the portion for this side. Rice & red bean mix was okay as well. Pretty simple for this side. Whole chicken might be the star of the show! Chicken was extremely tender and quite literally fell off the bone! I like how this wasn't over seasoned to overpower the dish. The whole chicken ended up being 2 meals for 2 ppl so I think this could be shared for 2-4 people depending on the person of course. Now I am a sauce girl & unfortunately I was disappointed in the sauce that was paired. The white / yellow sauce didn't have much of a taste and not sure what this was suppose to be. The green sauce was a simple jalapeño sauce I believe. I'm used to this sauce to be more creamier however it was very simple and more liquid than creamy. Service was nice & there's indoor seating! Outdoor parking is a little limited.

I ate at the Mall location a bit more when one of my friends got a job there. The bacon cheeseburger was my absolute favorite. The taste was everything. I preferred Roy's food over McDonald's ANY DAY. I may have been extra influenced by my dad, who grew up on Roy Rogers comics and movies, so I grew a love for westerns. Even if the restaurant chain is relative to The King of Cowboys in name only, I love it just by the association. Time goes by, Hardee's buys Roy's and gradually my beloved chain began to disappear. I left for college and during my visits home would look for a Roy's but knew it would just be a memory. About 20 years later, I came home for another friend's wedding and nearly crashed into the car in front of me. I thought my eyes were playing tricks. I turned the car around, much to my wife's confusion, and told her we needed to stop. This review is more so a rave about the Roy Rogers restaurant than it is of this particular location, but I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL that it's here. With each visit home (I live in Florida now), I make it a point to grab a bite here. The food is just as tasty as I remember, but the experience of it all is what keeps me coming back. I love Roy's.

And for the price at 1213 $ for a sandwich combo is a little overpriced. I'm originally from Buffalo and one of the greatest things about that city is the food. In fact, we…read moreoften joke that the thing that keeps people in Buffalo is the food and the sports. Buffalo pizza is a unique thing and accompanied by wings, some blue cheese and celery it elevates it to an equivalent of the British Sunday roast. It's something I would have with my family after a Bills or Sabres game on a Sunday and the thing is, there's hundreds of good pizza parlors in Buffalo because they all know how to make good pizza and good wings. Being a Buffalo ex-pat, Buffalo pizza is one of the things I miss most about Buffalo and I would do a lot of things to have some good, authentic, Buffalo style pizza. So when I came to Alexandria on business, on a whim I just did a Yelp search for Buffalo pizza to see if there was anything in the greater area and I found Baddpizza. Talking with the gentleman who cooked my pizza and wings, I learned that the owner came from years of working at a famous parlor in Buffalo called Bocce club. The smell and even the style of this restaurant was very pizza parlor to me. It brought back memories of walking up to a window or to an inside counter, ordering and heading back home to spend time with good food, good company and hopefully a good result for the Bills or Sabres! I was pleased to see Buffalo was represented well, with a big "716" decal, a standing buffalo with the city skyline on it and even, a sharp eye would spot a box of Josh's Jaqs cereal, a long running tradition in Buffalo to have a hometown athlete on a box of cereal. I mean truly, the only thing that would have elevated the space was a TV playing highlights of Rick Jeanneret calls or maybe a box of Flutie Flakes to go alongside of JA17's cereal. The food came out piping hot. There were plenty of peppers to take with you to add if you like that but the pizza came out exactly as I'd remember Buffalo pizza. The cheese is incredible, the pepperoni char absolutely spectacular, the sauce a slightly sweet tomato sauce that just reminded me of home. Seeing a lot of the reviews on here I felt a lot of them were harsh. Certainly, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but for Buffalonians, pizza and wings is a staple and they hit the nail on the head with an authentic experience 388 miles from home in Alexandria. I don't expect everyone to have the same reverence to Buffalo style pizza as I do, or we do, but to say it was flavorless is ridiculous. While I'm sure some of their specialty pizza's could leave more to be desired, if you stick with the classics, especially with charred pepperoni which is my absolute favorite topping, you will not have a bad time there. One tip on Yelp that I didn't listen to, but should have was that the sauce on the wings is not as spicy as you might think. I ordered medium which tends to be my go to and I felt it was more of a mild. If you like it a bit hotter, I'd say get them a stage hotter than you normally would. In fact if you get a double order of wings, you can pick two flavors, so go with your normal and then go at least a stage up. Also, important to note that as far as pizza parlor wings go, when you take them home they will not be as good and crispy. If you're expecting fresh crisp wings and have a drive or bus ride to go eat them, you will have to understand that wings won't keep. There's also not a lot of room to eat. And to be fair, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to eat there, but the gentleman cooking the pizza said it was no problem. But at least at this location, this might be a bring home, picnic or come with one or two because the restaurant doesn't seat many. I will also say that I took public transportation all the way from Old Town Alexandria to the restaurant and it was easy. It took a little more time than if I had a car, but it is doable to come via train and bus. And here's the thing, whether it's Chicago, New York, Detroit or Buffalo, clearly not every style is going to be your favorite. But I think if you want to experience something maybe new to you, or for those Buffalonians calling DC and the suburbs home or people like me on business and just missing a taste of home, you should go to one of Baddpizza's locations and get a taste of home. And to top this off, head next door to Wegmans to complete your Buffalo experience. Grab a couple other Buffalo staples like Weber's Mustard, Salens hot dogs, Bison chip dip (the best French onion dip you can get) and so much more. People will laugh at me for going here instead of heading to the Smithsonian or any one of the famous landmarks or museums DC has to offer. But when you have a chance to taste home and remind yourself of some of the great times you have with great people, or if you're new to Buffalo style pizza and want to create new memories with the people and sports teams you love, then give Badpizza a try. I'm so glad I did because my night was nourished by great food and great memories. Thanks Baddpizza!

Wings are fried crispy so they dont become flaccid when doused in the sauce. Exactly the way I like them!
