I definitely wouldn't have wanted it any spicier, so if you're sensitive to spice, I'd recommend sticking with level 3 or below. The food tasted incredibly fresh, the chicken was juicy and full of flavor, and everything came out quickly. The service was just as impressive. The staff checked on me several times to make sure I had everything I needed, and everyone was so friendly and attentive. The great reviews definitely live up to the hype. I wanted so badly to like Tuk Tuk Thai Cafe, but I can't say that my experience was amazing, but it wasn't bad either. You order at the counter, seat yourself, and then a server will bring out your food. They did let us know that our food would be in to go containers and asked if it was ok before taking our orders. Not sure why this was the case, but I didn't have an issue with it at all. Maybe not the place to go on a first time date at unless you're going for a super casual vibe. The soup I ordered is where the experience fell short. I've had tom yum many times in the past, and what I expected was a more deep, sour and spicy flavor, and it was not that. The broth as you can tell by the color in the photo was pretty clear (light in taste), and was slightly spicy and sour. They do ask you how much spice you prefer (0-5), and I picked 3, thinking that it would be a decent level. Maybe I just have a higher tolerance. I usually order curry or fried noodle dishes at Thai restaurants, but I wanted to try something new this time. Just didn't turn out as I had hoped. I wandered into TukTuk at lunch. I was dismayed that they don't serve the puffy Banh Mi sammich, so I settled for Pad Thai w/Tofu. I could only eat 1/3 of it, so I'm looking forward to 2 more meals. If you're looking for some great Thai food, this is the go-to. The spot is more casual and they have sticky tables, but the food is AMAZING. I always salivate when I think about it We got: Thai basil fried rice Lad Nah (the noodles) The lad nah was okay for me, it's more on the sweet side and doesn't come with many ingredients. Thai basil fried rice is very good!! Really filling too. I got it with pork. All their dishes done with to-go containers but you can dine in. You may also sit outside. Been wanting to try for awhile after hearing good reviews, and it was pretty good! The chicken pad Thai was tasty but pretty typical, maybe a bit dry due to taking it to go but when I added just a bit of my Panang curry, it brought it to life and was phenomenal! The panang curry was also great, just a bit of a small portion for me. Everyone was friendly but Tuk tuk only offers take out since covid, and I don't mind but would recommend getting 5 level spice if you like it hot since having extra chilli oil and Thai chilies isn't really an option. Tuk Tuk Thai is a great Thai food spot. They're more of a takeout kind of a place, but they do have seating. If you wish to dine in. Just realize they're more oriented towards take out food. The food is fresh and it's great. The flavors are amazing. The portions are huge. Hubby's Pad Thai was loaded with shrimp. The sesame chicken had a fantastic taste, not just a glaze. My pad see ewe was delicious with a lovely balance of ingredients. Remember they are mostly a take out place so service so is done in take away containers, take away plates, everything is temporary. Long time South sider, first time reviewing this spot! Egg rolls were crispy, not at all greasy and the filling was flavorful and paired so well with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. I ordered Khao Soi to try something new as a chronic pad kee mao orderer. It was so good! The noodles were a perfect texture, the creamy yellow curry seeped into the thin cuts of chicken and veggies beautifully. Will order again! And of course I did need to try their Pad Kee Mao and it was 10/10. The spice levels I chose for each were at a 4 out of 5 and I'd say that was a soft 4. I appreciated that actually. Great first visit to Tuk Tuk! This is a spot right by my house, but due to some longer takeout wait times, I haven't tried until now! The prices are damn good, and the portions are decent! My Pad Thai was very flavorful, though I opted for medium spice and it was very mild. I did get some packets of sambal olek from the very kind staff, which was a good supplement. The noodles were done in about 35 minutes, which was much faster than they had quoted me! I wish there were more veggies and perhaps a bit more chicken, but for $13 I can't complain! The restaurant was clean and well decorated. I'll look forward to coming back and trying some other curries/noodle dishes! read more

I order Uber Eats- the delivery service was horrible but has nothing to do with this review. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao with tofu. You don't know what spicy level you'll get. The last time I ordered level 3 it wasn't very hot. This time at this restaurant it was hot. Not so hot that it ruined the taste. They fry their tofu so it's not soggy. Probably one of my favourite Thai food in Austin!! We ordered to go via Uber eat, the food arrived within an hour and the food was still warm! I love that you can choose the spice level and we chose spice lv 3 on the pineapple fried rice, lv 2 on the pad Thai, and none on the pad see ew. I think level 3 def has a kick to it, will try the 4 or 5 next time! All three dishes were amazing to us, love that they were full of flavours. The fried rice in particular was fresh and fragrant. Be aware the parking lot is tiny. I have only ever had take out from here, so I wont comment on the sit down dine-in experience. Maybe I'll stop and sit inside one day. So most recently I ordered online and they gave me a range of time that the food would be ready, but it was actually ready about 5 mins ahead of time. That was pretty nice. I go in and there's a clear place to talk to the host and pick up. It looked like there were folks waiting to be seated when I went in. The take out is in plastic bowl containers that can be microwaved if needed. You might need it as the portions are generous. My Pad Thai with tofu was dinner and the next day's lunch. As someone who gets sick often, finding a go-to noodle soup spot is a must and Tuk Tuk is officially it. The staff here are incredibly kind, providing some of the best service around. It's all counter service but they have a nice outdoor patio. They also run an affordable convenience shop stocked with Asian pantry staples at prices that feel straight out of 2010. Best best BEST pad Thai!! Totally tiny underrated spot that is definitely best for take-out as there is not much seating inside. Primarily counter service, but super quick to make your order. They also have some pantry goods that you can take home in larger amounts such as sauces and things like that. A great mix of veggies serviced with a lite, fresh, and spicy brown sauce. Every bite was jam packed with flavor and wonderful texture. Just coming back to update my review, and can confirm that this place is still awful. I ordered a green curry, red curry, and pad gra tiam - all with tofu. The curries had massive jalapeños, bamboo shoots, and tofu, that's all. The curry had no depth to the flavor and tasted like coconut milk with a scoop of curry paste. This is definitely some of the worst Thai food I've had. Unfortunately the reality of living in Austin, the ethnic foods aren't great. To be honest, I am shocked that this place is even rated as high as it is. If you have any taste or standards, don't go here. If you're desperate and live nearby, I get it. read more

Is it my favorite Thai place? No. But does it hit the spot? Yes! I can only speak for the tofu pad see ew but overall, the food is okay. However, while I was waiting to pick up my order, I saw so many customers come in who seemed to be regulars. I love the sense of community this place has. In addition, the staff is really funny and made the wait go by super quickly! I came here not knowing that it was takeout only (maybe it was only on that particular day?) so I placed an order while I was there. The ETA was an hour and I was already starving! WOW. There is a reason this place has been up for so long... we originally came here bc I was craving mango sticky rice (which was a good portion, fresh and not too sweet). The pineapple fried rice (spice lvl 3) & pad thai (spice lvl 1) was soooo flavorful!! Hands down best pad thai I've ever had!! We saw previous reviews about the spice level so we wanted to test it. We LOVE spicy foods - my bf more than me, but he said the spice level 3 was pretty spicy (not too spicy but still spicy) & the spice level 1 had a nice little kick. We ordered; Panang Curry - it was packed with protein and veggies but lacked a bit on flavor, which was a bummer. 3/5 Chicken Pad Thai - next time I would order without the chicken. While there was a good portion of chicken, it was pretty dry and I ended up pulling all the chicken out and eating the dish without. 3/5 Crab Rangoon - great flavor and serving size. Wish it was served with sweet n sour sauce, it came with a small orange sauce that didn't have much flavor. 4/5 Egg Roll - traditional egg roll. 4/5 Overall was ok, I would maybe give it another try in store to see if dining in quality is any different, but really it came down to flavor/being bland. read more

Tasty but very small portions even when you pay $6 for extra meat. Usually when I add $6 extra meat the portion is enough for me to share with my husband. Most recently however we did not get the same portion. When I called to talk to them about this I was dismissed. I will not be spending money there anymore. The food here is very good! Very fresh and homemade taste. Other Thai places in the area seem like they add a lot of sugar to their dishes, and they are too sweet. This place does not do that. The food is seasoned and balanced well. When we came to eat, they didn't officially offer "dine-in", but did allow us to eat at a table from our takeaway boxes. Service was super friendly. Tuk Tuk is my "go-to" place for tasty takeout Thai food. I adore their Pad Thai and the fact that you can specify one of several different proteins is a big plus. Tofu is my fave followed closely by chicken and pork. The ingredients are all prepared as they should be and properly proportioned as well. Their service is top notch as well. They will call you when your order is ready so I make sure I'm close by when that happens. They no longer offer table service, except for 2 small tables in the front of the restaurant, it's mostly for takeout. I'm also a big fan of their Tom Yum Noodle soup w/pork - it's savory and spicy with tender rice noodles. I've tried a few other dishes but I keep coming back to these two.
