I've been to Little Tokyo a few times and I'm always pleased. This was my first time sitting inside and the service was pretty quick. The staff isn't overly welcoming or anything but the food makes up for it. I ordered The Playboy roll, and although it wasn't the best roll I ever had, it wasn't bad at all and it was huge! This was a fried roll and I do mean fried. Even the rice was deep fried, perfect for The South. I also ordered the Shrimp Tempura but they brought me Bang Bang shrimp by mistake. I didn't send it back because I didn't want to be that person, but it was super good! I ate it all. Definitely try that. The place is a little pricey. The roll was $15 and the shrimp is $11. Not terrible but you can get all you can eat sushi in Charlotte at nicer places for under $30, so I thought it was a bit much for a sushi spot in Albemarle, NC. Overall it's pretty good! read more

I recently dined here with another couple and a friend. The following day, I noticed an additional charge of $96.03 from the restaurant on my bank account, on top of my actual bill. When I called to report the issue, I was told that our waitress had mistakenly charged me for another table's bill but that the charge had been voided and should correct itself. I monitored my account daily, but the refund never appeared. When I called back, the manager, Tabitha, reviewed the transactions and explained that while the waitress had processed a refund, she had issued it as cash rather than returning it to my card. By her own admission, it looked as though the waitress had refunded the money to herself. I was assured the matter would be resolved once the owner/bookkeeper returned from vacation and that I would be contacted. A week later, after still hearing nothing, I called again and was told by Tabitha that she was surprised the owner had not reached out, since they had my contact information. At this point, I have disputed the charge with my bank and contacted local authorities about what appears to be a fraudulent transaction. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Beyond the risk of fraudulent charges and mishandling of customer information, the food itself was mediocre at best. What should have been a $30 meal turned into a $96.03 headache--not worth the risk. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

This is my absolute favorite restaurant! Both little Tokyo on Leonard ave and little Tokyo lounge are absolutely amazing!! The lounge has delicious wings, the kamikaze roll is by far my favorite sushi roll and is perfect for beginners who are a little off put by completely raw fish, the teriyaki steak with soba noodles is my go to but the fried rice with their shrimp sauce is the bomb. My entire family loves eating here (even the ones that hate Asian cuisine) If you like spicy foods order any of their entrees spicy or even extra spicy, you can thank me later Also the tnt sauce on any of their sushi as well as their crab salad are superrr delicious! I called in to order chicken teriyaki, steak teriyaki and a little Tokyo roll. Got my sushi got my chicken and guess I get rice and carrots. I call to talk to a manager she tells me bring back the food. I go in and a lady ask how can she help I told her I spoke with a manager and she asked what's the issue I told her there's no meat in here and open it up. She's takes the one I bring and throws it away and tells the kitchen what I need. Let me just say my family is already at home eating their dinner and watching a movie while I'm here waiting for them to prepare my corrected food, I'm not sure why it wasn't made before I even got there. I took my wife and 2 of my daughters there to eat yesterday. My 2 grandchildren had hibachi chicken and vegetables. My wife had gyoza and chicken with vegetables ( which was exactly the same as the grandkids meal). My oldest daughter had chicken ( again was the same as the others even though described differently). My other daughter the same with an avocado dish. The food was not good at all. My wife's gyoza was burnt, dry and old. The vegetables we received were also overcooked and hard. I ordered tuna and shrimp, both were incredibly overcooked and bland. They give A LOT of food. I was dining with a colleague from the area and she warned me that typically she gets the kid's meal for this very reason. I had my usual chicken teriyaki entree. I had opted for no rice, but The server accidentally served rice with my meal. So for her error, she brought out another whole plate of my side of mixed vegetables. This little gem is one that people from counties over come to visit! They have a very extensive sushi menu and you can even make your own with so many options! If you're vegan, you can make whatever kinda veggie roll you want and they have big veggies plates with fried rice and don't make it with egg! This place opened many years ago with only beef, chicken, and veggie plates and have expanded it to fit everyone's needs, tastes, and sushi delights. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 Star from me right now is because my cousin's meal came out so late that he didn't even wanna eat it anymore and we took it to go, but the kind and charismatic waiters make it a fun and happy experience. They remember their repeat customers and always come over to check on how you're doing even if they're not waiting on you! read more

Saw the reviews and was excited to check out a Japanese place driving thru there. When I walked in, immediately I thought of turning around. Just didn't look like a Japanese restaurant. No Asians working there too. Ordered a salad with Ginger dressing that was brown like soy sauce. Asian salad doesn't come with grated cheese. Tried Hibachi chicken and shrimp. My chicken and my husband's was dry, overcooked. He ordered soup. Took one sip and didn't know what was in it. Looked like a chicken stock and not miso either. My brown rice was really dry. The sauce on the meal was really salty. I didn't want Teriyaki but it tasted like a thick Teriyaki sauce. We even went there hungry. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. read more

I have been here many times and actually several times since COVID. Always before they have had the typical safety measures in place. However, this time there were seemingly none. Not all employees were wearing masks. No social distancing was in place. All tables were open, even if less than 6 feet apart. There was no barrier between myself and the employees at checkout. I'm not giving this restaurant a review for the food but for the horrible customer service we endured during vacation. The fact that a restaurant advertises they "deliver" food should mean they deliver, right? So we relied on this place to deliver on a Friday night. About a 10 minute drive. They decided spontaneously they weren't delivering tonight because they are too "busy". The girl I spoke to was very rude and made out like the delivery guy had better places to go. Not to mention we JUST ordered from them two weeks ago and they delivered to our house. The food was pretty good minus the fact the Japanese salad had cheese, which was very strange . The carrots served with the entrees were so sweet I could hardly finish them. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. On November 2, we noticed the restaurant was packed so we knew then the wait would be a little longer. We were fine with that as long as we could get something to drink. We were sat by the hostess we waited and waited and waited approximately 20 minutes before someone even acknowledged us to get a drink. We ordered adult beverage and water. The waitress return later to let us know that they were out of what we wanted so we ordered something else and we waited and waited finally the hostess walked by us so I asked him if he could get us some drinks .He went back and got three drinks and they were hot so I ask him if we could have a cold beverages he proceeded to go to the back finally bringing us out three adult beverages with no lime after telling us they had lime, which of course everyone knows you need a lime in certain drinks anyway we drank that because we were thirsty and tired of waiting. Finally the waitress came back by and dropped off 1 salad bringing only half of the dressing so we waited for the rest of the dressing. I got the manager to come over after waiting an hour and only having one drink. When the food did arrive it was not correctly made the rolls had certain items left out of it that we had ordered. We finally asked another server to get another drink and to bring out certain item that was missing. Our server came to our table maybe three times during our whole entire visit. When speaking to the manager she was very nonchalant. When we got readyt leave after being there two hours and only ordering three rolls with salad. As much as I love sushi I will not be visiting this restaurant again due to the lack of communication and the lack of caring about the customer. The management is just as bad as the server. read more
