I struggled between 3 and 4 stars on this, as this place also helped me to survive school without starving. Lunch at Little Tokyo was always a treat with my classmates and they never disappointed, even when we came in as a large and somewhat diverse group. Food is delicious and filling, the staff is efficient and helpful, and the menu is easy for a vegetarian to navigate. Their "salad" is really the only downside. You get cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce to choose from a bar and create your own salad. The plate is about the size of a baseball card and it requires some spacial skills to stack the plate in such a way to feel like you actually ate a salad. The ginger dressing is magnificent. My favorite item was Chicken Yaki Soba with special sauce on the side (their seafood sauce) They also had a great little salad bar that was simple yet fresh and clean and included in the meals. My family and I have been coming here for years and I just stopped back in yesterday with a friend for lunch. I had almost forgotten how much I love this place. Lets start with the salad that comes with every entree. The salad is fresh, crisp, and delicious all around. They have two different dressings (I love the mayo based one) along with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and little fried noodles that go on top. I could come here and just eat salad, its great. Now on to the entrees. I always have to fight a battle with myself over whether I should get the hibachi chicken, or the teriyaki chicken, they are equally incredible and I would be ok with them both being my last meal on earth. The noodles, rice, and vegetables that come with the entree are all cooked to perfection as well. This is basically a Japanese steak house with no at the table entertainment, which also means the pricing is way better and the food quality/quantity to price ratio is astounding. The Teriyaki Chicken is always awesome. I usually get double noodle and no rice because the noodles are so good. The salad bar inside is tasty too. I don't know what is in that dressing but it is AWESOME! If you go through the drive through don't forget to order the salad. This place is tasting/filling and has never let me down! read more

We stayed overnight on this Springfield area near the interstate. It's location is very convenient, just beside the motel we've stayed. Ample of parking. We tried the hibachi grill dinner, which kinda expected, you know very entertaining grillman. My kids loved it, specially those tricks. The food is okay, my salmon was perfectly done, the way i like it. The only problem is the seating is not private, we shared the hibachi grill table with other customers. Their sign advertised a California roll for $2.50 so I stopped for a quick lunch. At the drive thru window they told me it was a little over $5 with tax and the girl feigned surprise and confusion when I mentioned the special on their sign, then continued the transaction. I was in too much of a rush to complain further and hoped for the best. The simple, basic Cali roll was really blah and much warmer than it should have been. Because it was only a Cali roll I still ate it and well, it was lunch but not so terrific. It was also very small. At least 10 other places in town, I could have paid $5-6 and got twice as much sushi at the right temp and with a far better taste. I'd probably give this place a try again, inside and for a different meal than sushi, but I would proceed with caution. read more

Favorite "Japanese steakhouse" meal on a whim. It's super cheap. The spicy chicken is awesome. Two people can walk out paying under $20. The fried rice isn't the best, but the customer service is always spot on. They are really friendly and get to know their customers quickly. I love this place. My family has made a tradition out of coming here for my wife's bday. It's good for kids as I have three and the staff is always accommodating. My kids love it and my oldest thinks it is fun to watch the cook work. He loves when they make the volcano. The sushi is fresh and not fishy like other places I have tried in the Ozarks. I have been to "Little Tokyo" in downtown LA, and this place would fit right in. The sushi is excellent, and reasonably priced. Every dinner entree I have ever had there was excellent. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If you transplanted them to LA they could quadruple their prices and fit right in. Highly recommended! read more

Grease poured out of my gyoza all over the table when I bit into it...that's right the table, because our insolent waiter would not bring us plates. The fried sushi was soggy and really just nasty. The spicy crab roll I spit out into my napkin. We left all the food on the table, paid, and left. Never, ever again. So gross. read more

Little Tokyo = Little Disappointment. This was ok but not great and life is waaaay too short to eat ok food. The tuna nigiri was good but lets be honest, it is really hard to screw up a pice of raw fish on a bit of rice. As long and you don't get violently ill then it passes. The gyoza was probably the best thing we had and it was average. The beef yaki soba was bland and a little oily for yaki soba. The meat was cubed and not sliced so there were large chunks of meat instead of a lot of thin sliced tender meat.I really love Japanese food and if i could I would probably eat it 4 times a week, I would not however order it from here. The service was average as well nothing special nothing horrible. They do take American Express so if you are going there for a business meal you are covered. It is a little weird for me to write a bad review as I generally like the places we go and always try to find the best in them. I used to be a fan of this place, until today. I work just down the road and I will always order a side salad or two to go for lunch. (I love their dressing) Today when I called I asked them to put the cruchies that they normally put on top of the salad on the side, because they get soggy if I don't eat the salad right away. The lady said they can't do that because that's not how they make them. I explained to her that they get soggy if I save the salad for later, but didn't care. I hung up the phone. I decided to walk in to the restaurant because maybe I wasn't explaining myself very well. When I walked in a young lady asked me if she can help. I explained to her that I would like a salad with the cruchies on the side. She asked me to hold and went and got someone else. (the lady I spoke with on the phone) I explained to her why I needed the cruchies on the side, and that I didn't want extra, just the same amount just not on the salad. She would not have it. She told me if they put the cruchies on the side for me she would have to do it for everyone (not sure the problem). Before I walked out of the restaurant I told her that she is losing business because she can't take the stupid cruchies off the top of the salad and put them on the side. At this point she could have put the cruchies in my hands I wouldn't of care, but not on the salad. After I walked out I called and asked for a manager. The same lady I have been dealing with answer. She told me that the managers don't work there and started yelling at me about the salad. I disconnected the call. read more

I tried this place today for the first time. Some co-workers were ordering out and someone was going to pick it up so I figured why not since Chinese food is one of my favorites. I have to admit, trying new places usually worries me a little but this place was definitely a good first experience for me. I ordered the spicy chicken which came grilled, with rice, noodles and veggies. The chicken had a really good spice and the veggies were still nice and crisp, not overcooked and mushy like some Chinese restaurants tend to do. The rice and noodles were good however, I did need to add a little soy sauce to them (which I never do) due to them being a little on the dry side. The soy sauce helped so much and I ended up eating all of it. Overall I would say it was a very good, cheap and filling meal. The portions were spot on, I'm not left feeling so full I can't move but I am satisfied and the food was of good quality. I will be bringing my husband here to try it in the near future. read more
