General Taos chicken was dry and cold. Service was slow and the server didn't come to the table to greet us for over 5 minutes. She talked and talked and talked to another table while our food sat waiting in the kitchen and the sushi sat on the bar. I asked the hostess where the food was and she brought it out. Dropped by last night after a painting class. I'be been researching sushi in the Buena Park area, but haven't had the crew together when they were up for it. With the girls in tow, and a bit of wine on our breaths, we dropped in to Little Wok (not to be confused with City Wok from SouthPark!). Wait staff were ultra friendly. The restaurant wasn't that busy, yet they let us pick out the exact table to sit (I'm a people watcher, so that means the window). We started out with crab Rangoons and veggie egg roles. I'm more of a spring roll gal, but they did not have on the menu :-(. Appetizers came out quick and were hot. The crab rangoons are massive! Unlike cheaper places, they were triangular shaped and absolutely stuffed with crab and cream cheese. I was expecting much less. The edd roles were really fat and had the perfect amount of crust. I dipped in soy, but the sweet sauce they serve is great with these also. We ordered sushi: Her Passion, Spyder, and California rolls. My fave was 'Her Passion'. Not only were the rolls large, they had some extra stank on them! I really loved them, but alternated with the California roll to cool down my mouth. The Spyder roll was really good as well. Had to review!! When I first walked in this cute little kid rode by with his dad in a stroller and exclaimed "hi, little wok!!!" I thought it was so cute and that is must be beloved to their family. Everything I've ever had here is delicious, and I've tried quite a lot of the menu over the last few years. Delivery is always fast from the various apps, and the orders are always packaged very, very well for delivery. I've never received cold food, or things that should be crunchy going mushy/soggy during delivery. The reason the crunchy things stay that way is the staff cuts a hole in the plastic cover to allow steam to escape, keeping excess moisture out of the container. It isn't a large hole, just enough to do the job. And the bags are always stapled shut, keeping things in contaminated and so you'll be able to tell if the bag has been breached by a malicious delivery person messing with your food. (Hasn't ever happened to me) read more

It's Christmas Eve I'm here for funeral I deserve a decent meal. Nope. I ordered 2 pad Thai To-go both dish part of the noodles were white did not mix toss or wok properly uncook noodles. No bean sprout or any big veges 2 slices cucumbers eww...just a massive globe of sweet Pho noodles oh yes be aware not traditional thick noodles it's Pho rice thin noodles . I ordered the orange chicken entree for pickup and I was pleasantly surprised when my order was fresh and ready when I arrived slightly early. The chicken was platted nicely (even with it being takeout) with orange slices lining the sides of the container, and it did come with a side of steamed rice. However, I was bummed when eating my meal. Although their orange chicken is made out of real whole pieces of chicken, it was very dry and lacked flavor. I reheated my leftovers to eat the next day and it was so unbearably dry that I couldn't even eat it. I wish I could give this place a better review, but I simply didn't enjoy my meal. read more

Little Wok will only be little on your check amount. Loved their food and quantity. 1 appetizer, 2 dishes and 1 dessert costed just $40. It has a very elegant ambience with a soothing background music. The staff is very friendly. Talking about the food.. its delicious. The eggrolls are not greasy at all. Korean bowls are authentic and saucy. Tried the Thai fried rice, which had just the right amount of everything. My favorite is the Green Tea Creme Brulee. The staff is very kind it's a great spot if you're looking to share a meal with a friend (their portions are quite large) or get a plate of beautifully presented sushi But let's break it down: the restrooms are around a corner, so a little difficult to find. I did have to ask someone. That said they are pretty clean, very aesthetically designed to match the restaurant, and though they are not gender neutral they are single occupancy so theoretically you could use whichever one you wanted. read more

Little wok is a great place to grab a bite! Just be warned, the portions are misleadingly large! We stated off with the alaskan salmonberry, which resembles a spicy tuna avocado bomb. It had a hint of heat that creeps up then settles with the ponzu sauce. I ordered the Malaysian chow fun with shrimp, which was a departure from what I was used to! I admit I'm not that well versed with Malaysian style food, aside from rice. The curry base was nice and well balanced with the spiced seasoning on the vegetables. The next up was the salt and pepper pork rib, which be warned, is bone-in. I felt it was a little overcooked but overall, incredible flavor! My family and I went here for a little birthday dinner. Our experience was fabulous. First, I made a reservation for 7:30 but we got there about 40 minutes early. It was a Saturday evening so I figured we would have to wait but they accommodated us and sat us immediately. We all got different entrees and loved them. I got Orange Chicken, mom got Chicken Lo Mein and dad got Beef Thai Fried Rice. We all had leftovers for lunch the next day too. Kelly took care of us and provided excellent service. A little background. I'm from NJ. In Chicago, many of the Chinese restaurants have Lo-mein with a much thinner noodle than I'm used to. It became a quest to find Lo-mein noodles like the ones I prefer. Over 2 years we've tried several places and I'm happy to say that Little Wok is now our go to Chinese restaurant. Little Wok has become my absolute favorite Chinese+Japanese restaurant in Chicago. The menu is incredible with almost every type of dish you could imagine. I usually go for a specialty sushi roll along with a Chinese noodle dish. The food is consistently very tasty, the portions are large, and I am always pleased with the service. Another positive is that the place is never too crowded, making for a perfect relaxed dining experience. My favorite food to get here is the Crunchy 2 in 1 roll and the Mongolian Beef. Whenever I have ordered recently, it's been so freaking watered down. & due to being in a high volume salon, we unfortunately do not get lunch breaks, so I can't double check my food. Little Wok is a very unassuming and very cute addition to the Lakeview area with some really great Asian and Thai-American dishes. I love assorted veggies i spicy sauces with beef, chicken or seafood. I've ordered the szechuan beef for delivery, and indulged in the mixed beef and vegetables in house. They have a full bar, and have put a great deal more effort into their decor, than a fast food spot or BYOB. The place is not big, however, and despite a steady influx of take out customers, my date and I were the only ones to dine in for most of this time. I loved the vegetable egg rolls. They were light and and the breading was good, but could always be flaky or crispier if you know what I mean. We also got steamed pot stickers, the noodly/pastry portion of which I found a little overwhelming. A shout out the spicy mustard which tasted good on everything! Our server was attentive but not overwhelming. There was an upbeat vibe among the young staff. The server took the time to answer our questions, and secure my beef and mixed vegetables with an extra spicy kick. It's much appreciated. For you purists: the noodles are not made in house. The breading for the eggroll and pot sticker are created at Little Wok, but not the lo mien, glass or wide rice noodles. For inexpensive and tasty American-Thai I would strongly recommend the Little Wok. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! If you're in Lakeview you have to check out Little Wok! It has great, flavorful Chinese food and great sushi! I used to dine in all the time before COVID and I've always had a great experience. The food was always fast and flavorful, the service was great, the drinks are so interesting, and they have some of the best music I've ever heard a restaurant play. I need that playlist! I've ordered take out and delivery a few times and it's always so fast and prompt! Recently, I've been dining in and the hosts, I think their names are Nicole and Gabby are so sweet and knowledgeable! I went the other day and my server Erica was very nice! My favorite dishes to get are the general tao's chicken, beef short rib stone bowl, and the pad thai! I recommend getting the Her Passion or mango tango roll! I will be back soon! read more

Nice to have this option in Lakeview. The atmosphere is clean/fun and service is attentive. The food is average trendy Asian food but it is so overpriced! I keep telling myself that this isn't the Chinatown and/or Argyle marketplace but the food is not good enough to get my mind over the the price point. 3 of us ate for $80 with tax and tip (with two beers). We could've gotten 5-6 Chinatown lobsters or two peking duck meals at Sunwah for the price. What we got instead? - A measly portion of tuna avocado salad, which was actually just Japanese seaweed. - Potsticker appetizer. OK I'll admit these were fat and juicy and done well. - Mongolian beef. Salty, meh. - Szechuan vegetables. Nothing special, just some typical veggies stir-fried in generic asian sauce. - Crispy squid. This was the best dish of the night. Nicely sized pieces with good amount of crunch. Glad I tried. Good for the neighborhood. Value/execution is still lacking for me. Keep in mind that I am a self-proclaimed Asian food snob. Maybe you'll order kung pao chicken and love it. read more

We stopped in at 6:30 PM on a Sunday evening during Dine on Broadway. We were seated outdoors promptly and we placed our drink and dinner order all at the same time. Appetizer came out before drinks (no big deal), which the server apologized for. The restaurant was busy and it became quickly apparent that the wait staff was stretched thin as they had temporary outdoor seating in place and were running all over. The dinner took an hour to arrive, and when it did, one of the entrees was incorrect. When brought to the attention of the staff the initial response was, "Shoot...do you really not want that one?" The dish was sent back and we were promised a free round of drinks. This was appreciated, but it took a reminder to receive the promised drinks. The correct dinner entree arrived in about 30 additional minutes. All of the food was extremely bland and unremarkable. It did not taste bad....but it did not taste good. Our simple dinner order took well over 2 hours. I think the management needs to step up and help out their servers at this place. I felt genuinely sorry for our server who was nearly in tears due to the stress of her shift. She was trying to be efficient by not writing down orders which is unfortunately likely what caused the error at our table. She remained upbeat, thanked us for being kind, and certainly tried to salvage the situation--but unfortunately the root of the problem is beyond her control. With so many great options for food in Chicago, there is little reason to return. The high ratings at this restaurant surprise me. Do better, Little Wok! read more

Went there and dined in... not the best experience... The food was bad and the service was interesting. Here is what happened: I ordered an egg drop soup. It was the most disgusting... I mean... it came out very different from expected. What I had expected was a light broth, like how it is made in most places. What I got was a bowl of liquified starch. It tastes like starch and looks like cooked starch. It was not even soup anymore, it's pretty much half formed jello. I was not expecting that from any decent chinese restaurant lol so I took a small sip and put it down to wait for my entree. My entree took 20 minutes... the restaurant was empty with like 1-2 tables on the other side that is almost done eating. I wonder if it was because they were waiting for me to finish my soup first which is like... wtf? Anyway... so my server asked if I'm done with the soup, knowing it's barely touched because it's full. I said yeah, I'm done with that, it's not good. So he took it away and i was left waiting with nothing on my table. I didn't ask for exchange or refund because I was curious how they would handle it. Anyway. My entree came, it was not what I expected but it wasn't bad. Which makes me wonder if the chef is just making up their own recipe or what they interpret as chinese food, or just decided to alter it just so it's not authentic chinese food. So I finished my entree, asked for the check, and sure enough, they charged me for that bowl of starch. It was just $5 but I could have made a pot of the same thing with that price and with just half of the price, I could have made a pot of delicious egg drop soup! Anyway, won't go back there again. So unfortunate especially this is like one of the few chinese restaurants in the area. It was good before but now I'm starting to see why it has such a bad reputation among asians. read more

Gave this place a second chance tonight, and having a lackluster meal over the summer. Ordered take out tonight, and the order was completed correctly and timely, which was nice. We ordered the orange chicken, the general tso's chicken and crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was 99% cream cheese, 1% Krabstick. Both entrees were sweeter than most desserts I've eaten. Very very syrupy. When you bring your meal home and feel like you have to re-season and balance everything yourself it's not a good sign. Tbh I wish we had just ordered Panda Express. read more
