Wonderful place! Owner is super nice, and it's connected to a bookstore! Even though they close at 3, the bookstore is open til 6 so you can still hang out. Like I said calm ambience and super nice people! Oh and the food is delicious too! (I did not get the Starbucks coffee from here but the food I did, I don't think they make specialty coffees here so I brought my own) And they have a Squidward tapestry, 10/10

Prompt greeting at the door. Perfect temperature. Good bookstore music. Perfect lighting. Good menu options. I have no regrets visiting. I'll definitely be back. In just the 30 mins I had til closing, my chicken salad sandwich was made fresh and tasted so good. I was actually embarrassed when I bit into it because I was caught off guard with the warm bread and cool salad. I had to take a look at it as if I didn't know what was going on lol. It was the temperature difference that I never knew could exist on one sandwich so well. There's window booths to sit at or tables, who doesn't love the option of a view. I came for the biscuits (hence my books and biscuits rave) but they'd sold the last one right before I came in. Good reason to come back, even if it's just to encounter the lovely chef and waitress. They were so friendly and seemed like they enjoyed serving up a good sandwich! I imagine they get a few regulars in there, considering the farewell by name I heard. LOVE THAT. So cheery. Prince Books, connected to the cafe is so cute. It's small and have a nostalgic feel with the wood and carpet picks on decor. Although the size makes for a casual amount of books, the category of books are satisfying enough. I want to say that I found a little gem, but I have a feeling it's a big piece of waterside.

What a wonderful experience at this adorable cafe! They were very busy but the employees worked super hard to make sure everyone got their food quickly! You can even order on an app through their QR code to save time ordering. We will definitely come back again!

Very cute/quaint cafe. It's sharing space with Prince bookstore on Main Street in Norfolk. Forget Starbucks at a Barnes and Noble - this is the real deal! This cafe has salads, sandwiches, soups and wraps. The chef is really nice. I ordered biscuit with ham and ham as I already had lunch but gotta try something! I was told the biscuit is a good size. I had mine to go so let me rush home to take a picture and enjoy.

I have walked by this bookstore so many times on my lunch break, but had no idea about the cute and cozy café inside! I decided to go with the half sandwich and soup combo and ordered the egg salad sandwich with the Mediterranean chick pea soup. While waiting for my food I browsed around the bookstore, which is a nice selection! After a short time, the pleasant waitress signaled over that the food was ready. The egg salad was a little on the bland side, but the soup was very tasty with chick peas, tomatoes and zucchini. I would definitely come back for that. I heard that the sweet potato biscuits were to die for so before checking out, I had decided to order one to go. It was nice and flaky, topped with some peach jam. The prices are a little on the high side for lunch....but I would come back again and cozy up to a nice cup a soup and a good book!

    Yay for eco friendly!

My favorite thing about this place used to be the obviously dead plant in the window that looked more decrepit with every passing month. Since April 2019, Brian has taken over and there has been a lot more to love since then. The sweet potato ham biscuits were good before but they're even better now. The Jefferson combo is my favorite. Obviously fresh baked biscuits topped off with apricot jam and delicious surry ham. PLUS two sides. It's a lot of food for a great value. Though I get the same thing close to every time I enjoy trying the new soup selections. Haven't been disappointed yet and I don't think I will be. Finally, I really appreciate that when I get an order to go Lizard Cafe provides easily recycled brown paper take out bags. Definitely a great place to check out when looking for a casual lunch downtown.

Extremely disappointed, the staff was walking around but no utensils came? Then I got up to pay and the prices must have gone up without them putting it on the menu? If you decide to go, i wish you luck! As for me if I plan on spending over $30 for breakfast I will be doing it someplace else. I honestly only walked in because I wanted to check the place out and had no real plans to order anything, but I'm glad I did! First, the space itself is really cool. It has a darker, industrial feel with wood accents that fits right in with the Ghent vibe. It's a nice little spot with a lot of character. Makayla was working the counter and was an absolute pleasure. She made some recommendations, and I decided on a lavender matcha with their house-made pistachio milk. Somewhere between us chatting and having a genuinely good conversation, neither of us was paying attention to what she was making and I ended up walking out with an iced lavender pistachio latte with espresso instead of matcha. I took a sip outside and immediately thought, "Wait a minute...this is NOT matcha." I went back in and told Makayla, and she immediately realized what happened, apologized, and remade it correctly. No big deal whatsoever, especially considering I literally stood there and watched her make the first drink and didn't notice either because we were too busy talking! She also offered to let me keep the latte since it would have just been thrown away otherwise, so I ended up getting to try both. And that pistachio milk?! They make it in-house, and it is SO good. It has this really interesting nutty, almost umami flavor that I loved. Both drinks were delicious flavor-wise, although they were definitely much sweeter than I personally prefer. Next time I'll just ask for significantly less sweetener. For these, I'll probably blend them with some ice at home to mellow out the sweetness and turn them into frozen drinks. Overall, this was such a random, serendipitous little stop that turned into a really enjoyable experience. Great atmosphere, delicious drinks, and Makayla was incredibly pleasant, relatable, and fun to talk to. I'll absolutely be back, especially for that pistachio milk!

Fresh, clean flavors, and it tasted like quality ingredients were used. No complaints at all on the product--just the value. Overall, it's a solid option if you're looking for something healthier than typical airport food, but be prepared to pay airport pricing. Good juice, tough price point.

I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.
