Passionate and WONDERFULLY unique dishes that you will not find anywhere else! The incredible taste of everything they prepare will be the best thing you have ever tasted (I know because I ordered basically everything on the menu) haha. Sure it's more expensive than other restaurants in the area but I would rather spend more on a such a fantastic meal and skip on other expenses. Any negative reviews here are from people who do not appreciate fine dining and truely delicious food. Anything you order will be WORTH IT! The quality of every aspect of every dish is so well created and I am thankful that such a unique dining option exists in the area! You know a restaurant is outstanding when every bite is proceeded by an "Oh My God". The Chef is from Lima and his attention to details when it comes to flavors both complex and simple is just superb! My Paiche consisted of this mouth watering corvina wrapped in plantain leaves cooked over hot coals with fried, seasoned yucca, grilled hearts of palm, sauteed plantains with the most incredible passion fruit cilantro sauce! Complimentary purple corn cake with pepper infused honey from the chef was sublime and the Ceviche Lima and Lomo were absolutely on par with all the other dishes. I've been visiting St. Augustine for years, but it is really becoming a foodie town now! Llama is amazing. I can't even believe it's here. First, it's just as cute as can be. Absolutely adorable. The service is super friendly and sweet. If you haven't had Peruvian food before, don't worry: It's delicious. If you like seafood, get seafood, and if you like steak, get steak. You will love it! They have several champagne cocktails -- I don't believe they have liquor. I had the flower bomb, and it was beautiful and tasty. All of our drinks were little works of art. There were four of us, and we started with ceviche and yucca dips. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. I had macho, which was grouper, shrimp, and calamari layered on a rice cake (not the styrofoam kind -- think more like a delicious potato cake) with a delicious creamy sauce. I can't even describe the flavor -- it was just yummy. My husband and our friend had lomo, and they loved it. Even though we were stuffed, we shared a trio of desserts, which was again a beautiful work of art with spun sugar. This was a fantastic meal, and probably the fanciest meal I've had in St. Augustine. read more

The inside of the restaurant gives the feeling of being in a second-class railway carriage in the Balkans. The cramped tables barely give the customer any space. The service was awful. We asked for 2 beers and what we received was 2 glasses full of warm foam. The Bartender's attitude reminded me of someone who's constantly constipated. Every item we asked for on the menu, was conveniently "not available" that day. When we asked for any meal suggestions, we were brushed off. We thought it was a language barrier but after asking to pay for our foam glasses, suddenly everyone was able to speak English. This little gem in St. Augustine, FL deserves every star I can give it. I found it ahead of time on Yelp, and we made reservations for the 5 of us for dinner. Llama specializes in Peruvian flavors, modernized. We ordered a myriad of apps, drinks and entrees. The best of award however, goes to the Pork Belly Entree and the Skirt Steak and Prawns dishes. Both were among the best I've ever had, and we're so tasty an additional one was ordered to be shared with everyone at the table. The service was also exceptional, and our waiter was perfect in his recommendations across the board. We also never had to wait for drink refills, or requested items. If you get a chance to visit the oldest town in America, please make a reservation for dinner at Llama. It's a truly special and unique dining experience. read more

My boyfriend and I arrived about 30 minutes prior to our reservation. We let the gentleman at the door know that we were aware that we were early, but asked if we could sit at the bar in the mean. The restaurant is about as big as a shoe box, so it took us zero seconds to make our way to the bar. Once we were at the bar, we were made to feel as 2nd class citizens. No one wanted to acknowledge & when the bartender came over, she immediately shut down any questions we had about the place (please keep in mind this was our 1st time here and we were visiting from Orlando). We ordered 2 beers, but felt so uncomfortable that we asked for our check and went to CAPS on the water where we proceeded to have GREAT service, food & atmosphere. To the management of Llama, I personally want to thank you for the dismal experience we had at your establishment because it prompted us to have an even more AMAZING dinner experience at CAPS! Hands down the best meal my husband and I have enjoyed in the greater Jacksonville/St. Augustine area since moving here last summer. Wow! One of our new favorite restaurants in Florida! A must when you visit Saint Augustine but you need a reservation for sure. The restaurant is very small in seating size but very nice and quaint. The service was outstanding from beginning to end. We tried a few specialty drinks to start, our favorite was the champagne drink with passion fruit. The ceviche appetizer we had was out of this world. It was beautiful in presentation and super flavorful. If you're a fan of ceviche don't miss out on this dish. For our entree we had the lomo saltaldo a traditional Peruvian dish with steak, tomatoes, onions and rice. AMAZING!! The flavor of the sauce blew our minds and the steak was perfectly cooked. They have a homemade hot sauce which was spicy and flavorful. Honestly I love hot sauce but I didn't want to ruin the wonderful flavor of the dish. The most beautiful and cultural culinary adventure experience! They have a tasting menu where you pay 40 or 50 bucks and they bring out 5 course tastes that are decent size portions. You have to ask for it. Walking in it is a small and cozy feel but very nicely decorated - rustic, and you can't forget the picture of a llama on the wall! Don't ask me to remember all the Peruvian names of the dishes here lol we started with corvina ceviche which had squash and corn in it- interesting but delicious! Second course was a purple corn and potato app with a delicious sauce, then the most tender octopus I've ever had paired with blood orange, grapefruit and some other secret sauces, for the main course we had CUY, we were told what this was and all decided to be adventurous and try it. Tasted out of this world- you would never know its Guinea pig lol We finished with chiramoya icecream. All were completely unique and amazing in their own way. The chef has a master culinary skill! I am visiting my parents from north jersey, and saw this place was highly recommended . My parents are from South America and we decided to give it a try. It was an experience from the moment we walked in. The service was amazing- white glove service but made you feel at home. Each bite was filled with delicious flavor and a successful modern twist of traditional Peruvian cuisine. My parents and I enjoyed every dish (because of course we had every course.) The food is phenomenal, not your typical Peruvian restaurant. Our drinks, appetizer and entrees were all creatively crafted and the presentation was very nice. The restaurant itself is cozy, nice place for a romantic dinner. The only reason I'm rating 4 out of 5 stars is due to the server. When I mentioned that the onions weren't thoroughly cooked as I had requested, she replied "oh" and walked away! I guess they must have brought her in straight out of McDonalds... I expect better service than this when spending over $100 for two. Normally, this would deter me from ever returning, but the food is just too delish - we'll be back! read more

We went here on our anniversary. Reservations are a must, as this is a very small restaurant. We got the pulpo appetizer and it was amazing. The octopus was very fresh, and the olive sauce/dressing with the pickled onions made the whole thing very light and satisfying. My girlfriend got the ceviche, which she loved. I got the surf and turf, which had really nice flavor but was a very heavy dish. It had beef and shrimp with pasta in a cream based sauce. I left a lot behind, but not at all because of the taste. I do wish that the service had been better. Other tables seemed to have their server explain the menu and the restaurant it's self more, while we had to listen in to get the information. read more

This restaurant is a true GEM and a very very lucky find. We were St Augustine over Memorial Day weekend, drive by it and decided to try it, they were full but we were able to make an early dinner reservation for the next day. We got there the next day, first to arrive and be greeted very warmly by Radek who provided excellent customer service. Scoured the menu, recommendations were made and we sat to enjoy one of the BEST meals we have had in a very long time. This is fine gourmet Michelin worthy food, set in a sweet humble little location. A MUST for anyone visiting St Augustine. I just found out about Llama Restaurant in a recent visit to Saint Augustine. The food was delicious and the staff was super helpful and attentive. I started with one of their drink concoctions. We then opted for the ceviche, which is served freshly cut and you add it to the lime mixture and wait a few minutes for it to marinate in the delicious bath of flavors. I had the Peruvian fish wrapped in banana leaf and my husband had a meat entree. Both were so flavorful. We then opted for the spin sugar Algarrobina Custard dessert. Oh boy, creamy heaven and beautiful. All of it was delicious and different. A breathe of fresh air to have interesting new well made foods from around the world. Went there the opening week, very excited since there is no many options of Peruvian restaurants, I'm peruvian, I was disappointed. First, we waited for two hours for the food, I ordered the chupe, chupe is supposed to be a soup, this was more like a risotto texture, flavor was ok I guess, they didn't have hot sauce, they brought us a defrosted entire aji limo. The outside is unassuming but the inside totally unique and chic. I had the octopus salad and Arapaima main. I have NEVER seen Arapaima on a menu. I have caught them in SA but never seen this fish on an o America restaurant menu. Service staff outstanding, professional, and friendly. Small, quaint, and very cool setting. Wow, never again. My wife and four other friends went here based on the reviews. The food was OK but overpriced. Interior has plastic plants and the bathroom is in a dark corner outside. The service on the other hand was horrible. Even at the dinner table we were talking about the lack of service and the "We are better then you" attitude from our server. Marcel Vizcarra, Chef- Owner, has even a worse attitude then the staff that works for him. He was of no help and completely dismissed us. Look at his comments when he replies back to a yelp reviewer. Here is a hint when looking for restaurants on Yelp. When you go down to look at the reviews, set the "Sort by" to newest first, NOT Yelp sort. This will give you a more accurate and up to date feedback on the restaurant. Lesson learned, will not be going back. read more

We have been to Peru and can say that this restaurant offers truly authentic Peruvian food. We had Ceviche Lima as an appetizer and it was great. The sauce was just right and had a little bit of kick to it. For a main course I had Tallarines Verdes with steak and the steak was so tender and the pasta extremely flavorful. It is a small restaurant and they were full so be sure to make a reservation. The service was excellent and friendly as well. We will definitely be back! read more

St. Augustine really needed this lil gem. It has a small but cozy and intimate atmosphere. The food is up scale but surprisingly very reasonably priced. The Lomo was quite on the rare side but very delish. If you order be sure to tell the waiter if you want it well done. I had the Seco and very tasty but a bit on the salty side. The meat was extremely tender, just melts in your mouth. Wine was perfect with our meals. Next time, I'm trying the Lomo for sure. Will need to save room for dessert. Service was excellent and Chef Marcel even came out to ask how we were doing. Get in now while you can.
