My husband and I visited last night and enjoyed the chef's tasting menu. It was phenomenal and worth every penny. 6 courses for $50. You must request the tasting menu in advance but it is well worth it. Each course represented a region of Peru beautifully prepared and the chef was delightful explaining each dish. The wine pairing ($45) was also wonderful. We have eaten dinner here before and enjoyed it, but the chef's tasting menu blew us away. Great service too!!! This place is everything I love about an authentic cuisine in a small town. The staff was very accommodating and personable. Quaint and small restaurant but full of detail. The chef is from Peru. Presentation was impressive. And most importantly the ceviche is out of this world. They serve it in a bowl with the leche de tigre in the center so you can sip spoonfuls if you want. That was my favorite presentation of ceviche ever. I also had the Aji- braised shredded chicken with a creamy yellow Peruvian chile sauce. SO GOOD. The drinks are also impressive, especially for just serving wine and beer. They make fantastic mixed drinks with Proseco. Highly recommended the Lima Mule. Great date spot! read more

READ PLEASE. I've eaten at the llama many times, but have never gotten service so bad. The waitress neglected our table and only did the BARE MINIMUM to serve us. Very long wait time for everything, and dessert took 25 minutes to arrive. Our favorite dish was WAY overcooked, and all we got in return was "our cook never cooks it like that." We read the reviews and decided to make this our final meal in St. Augustine. We arrived at 8:30, a full 30 minutes before closing, but were told they decided to close early, even though their posted hours were until 9pm. Arrived in St Augustine from Orlando and decided to get some Peruvian food, started with the Ceviche, it was very good and the presentation was excellent as well. I also ordered Lomo which is my favorite Peruvian dish, the meat was raw and cold and fatty. They took it back and returned under cooked again even though I said I liked it well done.the original Lomo Saltado is made with top sirloin, this was definitely not. We started with the Anticuchos and ceviche and the presentation was so great and omg the taste was incredible!!! Then we tried the Mar y Tierra and it was unlike anything I've had before! The combination of the Lomo Saltado over the pepper cream pasta. Incredible!! Then the dessert was made with my favorite fruit. Lucuma. Beautifully #Fresh! Starting with delicious Pulpo, thinly sliced octopus carpaccio with hints of lime and drizzled with an olive aioli. Mussel ceviche shooters, dreams are made of this. After sharing Papas and lovly grilled and smoked beef heart, I went for the Zeta Capchi. A beautiful creamy Oyster Mushroom Stew with hints of Andean mint and peppers. Our table filled with Lomo, Costillo Seco and Aji. We all ate from each others dishes sharing and experiencing flavors some have never had. My sons beautiful girlfriend is Peruvian and she shared stories with every dish telling us of memories that the flavors and smells were bringing back to her. I have been to Llama on multiple occasions and am happy to say that each visit is better than the last ... which is hard to imagine! Our entire family (party of 5) thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience. This is a very small and unassuming building from the exterior. The interior is casual, yet elegant. Reservations are required and I recommend you call at least a week in advance. There aren't any tables and the wait staff do not rush you through your meal, so there aren't many seating times. All of these factors provide for an intimate and relaxing dinner. The descriptions in the menu are very modest, so we were pleasantly surprised by the flavors. The food is amazing. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu (including the wine list), provided excellent recommendations, and answered our questions with perfect detail. We started with the Pulpo and the Anticuchos, which I wouldn't have selected without the recommendation of our server. We have never had octopus so tender, very delicious. Anticuchos is a traditional Peruvian street food. All I will say is these beef skewers are a must try! For our entrees we had Costilla Seco, Paiche, Lomo, Mar Y Tierra and Perihuela. We had not a single criticism. Every dish was fresh, tender, flavorful, and filling. We wrapped up our evening by sharing three desserts (custard, mousse, and humita) and were not disappointed. My husband and and I, were visiting St Augustine and found this spectacular place online. EVERYTHING was fantastic. The food, the atmosphere, the servers and everything in between was flawless. We started with octopus and ceviche lima... perfectly done, followed by paiche- white fish- and lomo. Both meals were cooked to perfection with spectacular presentation. We went for my husband's birthday, it was fantastic! I'm an extremely picky eater, but loved everything! We had the Aji, Paiche and Zeta Capchi! I loved the Aji, sauce was light and creamy that went well with the chicken, potatoes and rice. I'm not a fan of fish at all, but the Paiche was really good it's an Amazonian arapaima, not to fishy taste and delicious! It came with fried yuca, grilled hearts of palm and plantains. My husband and I just finished an absolutely divine meal here. The service, ambiance, and cuisine were the best we have experienced in quite awhile. Our server Radek was friendly, took time to explain each dish, and provided exceptional service. Every employee we encountered was polite and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Having worked in the F&B industry in the past, I noted how quickly dishes were cleared, tables thoroughly cleaned and reset, and the attention to detail each employee gave to their task. I had the yucca dips as an appetizer and wanted to finish each of the sauces with a spoon after polishing off the perfectly cooked yucca. My husband said he could eat the cerviche for every meal for the rest of his life. He also loved the Lomo saying he didn't want to eat anything else because he didn't want the flavor to leave his mouth. The Causa Chicken I had was light but incredibly filling. I decided to take home half of it to save room for dessert and I'm so glad I did. We were torn between the Lgarrobina custard and the chocolate mousse cake so we got both. I am Chilean and have truly enjoyed Peruvian food for quite some time, extremely underrated. My wife and I enjoyed dinner here last night and it was so good that we literally woke up talking about it. The service was phenomenal and non intrusive, yet our server was always there when we needed him or were running low on our amazing Chilean wine (great selection). All of this pales in comparison to the food. This was the best meal we have had in a long time and I can honestly say we enjoyed it more than Collage which is another great restaurant in the area. I really liked the rustic outside of the building and the warm, Andes-inspired interior. The restaurants is small, it does feel a little crowded, but the tables are nicely decorated, are as the walls. The mini bar they have in the back of the restaurant is very appealing. Overall, the small size of the restaurant actually provides a warmth and coziness that is very welcoming. The server we got was not the most cheerful server ever, she was very matter-of-fact, almost cold. If you brushed her coldness aside she seemed to be more approachable, interestingly enough. We were there to experience the high praise the food received, so we didn't let the server's personality bother us. We started with drinks, I had a mojito cocktail and my friend had a beer. Interestingly, the cocktail menu didn't feature a Pisco Sour, which a Peruvian drink classic. I ordered the mussel appetizer, which was ok. Then I ordered the ceviche as main dish. The ceviche was alright, nothing out of this world. It had a little odd aftertaste but nothing I would find objectionable. However, having been to Peru and knowing what ceviche tastes like, I have to say I was underwhelmed. My friend ordered the chicken and rice, which consisted of an entire cornish hen (or some small chicken) on top of a type of fried rice. My friend didn't finish it. So this place is visually appealing and it's an interesting culinary offering, but as far as the quality and authenticity of the dishes (including drinks), it's not up to par with other Peruvian restaurants I have visited. read more

I have read the reviews for this place and it has been on my to go to list since they opened. The food looks amazing and so do the drinks. I gathered up a couple of my fellow foodies or a killer baker and her friend and we headed on down. The place is in a old building in fact I think it was an old bait n tackle shop back in the 80's. The small is way gone. It is a super cute little place with lama's everywhere. They have the coolest tree limb in the front corner with a bunch of hearts strung up to it. The tables and pretty sweet some blonde wood. Ok we drove right in with 3/4's of their apps and then moved into the series stuff later. The apps we went with was the chilled octopus that has an olive dribbles. Also a The ceviche plate that comes out with a nice broth that they pour on and into the dish. We had to have the beef heart because I eat anything beef. This dish comes out under the glass tube that is lifted and wafted about. To me this was the dish of the night and I would have eaten a 5 gal bucket of those beef hearts. Chef then brought out a canapés with a bunch of stuff on a purple potatoes chip. All of these were very good and had us excited for more. The entree's moved out with m Lomo or hanger steak that was good but nothing really blew me away. We also had a shrimp soup which was really good. We needed just a little rice to help the finish the dish. We also had the larger ceviche which was just as great as the app just kind of kick with some steroids. We moved on the dessert of their signature dessert of a custard with some spun sugar atop of it. It was mighty tasty to boot. We also had the cookies and caramel in my eyes but I was quickly corrected of what it really was and now I can't remember. if I do I will fix it later.
