I came here a couple times before and the food was really good, but... this time got takeouts ...everything tasted horrible! The salted baked sliced pork chop meat was dried inside and oily outside... tasted like leftover and refried many times. The house special wok fried delicacies were soggy, salty, looks like a dish of unwanted mixed food and tasted like one too! These two dishes have to be thrown out in the garbage... such a disappointment! The chicken and salty fried rice had no salty fish and the rice was very dried like eating bird seeds...can only eat it with lots of tobacco sauce. Went here for dinner. The seafood soup was good and delicious. The snow pea tips were of good flavor and perfect. The braised short ribs are a must with the meat so tender, it looks like perfect beef brisket. The preserved squid and octopus stir-fry with milk balls was also tasty. Even though that the crab with the glutinous rice was good with all of the succulent crab, I felt that it was too greasy. Same goes for the Peking duck. I knew that eating a Peking duck mantou is usually greasy, but this time, it was too greasy than it usually is. The sauce for the beef short ribs was not same as it used to be. Decide to have dinner here with friends be cause we had the food a dew months ago. I have to very honest, i do not have a problem with the food, the food was very good. The issue was service. It was about 625pm, sunday evening our waiter took the order but he did not seem sure. So once he walked away from the table he brought back a ticket which was time stamped and left it on the table. We did not order appetizers. We went straight for dinner. My wife spole to the waiter in cantonese just to make sure he got the order correctly. The waiter came back to the table several times and kept checking the ticket. Not only was that annoying but the food took well over 30 minutes to arrive. On top of that, we have a table of 5 hungry people and he was bringing 1 entree at a time. To the point that it was ridiculous how slow the serbice was. I did noticed that our table was a small table in comparison to the rest but that does not mean they should not provide reasonable service. This waiter was so bad, he never even brought water for the table. I will not get to the food part: we order the birds nest with assorted seafood, vegetable stif fry with fish, longevity nooodles with vegetables, eggplant with garlic sauce, and a platter of green vegetables. Yhe food was very good, good quality ingrrdients, seafood was cooked to perfection, a very good stir fry at high temperature really makes a difference. The place was pretty decent size, the dining room had very nice seating and could fit small and pretty large crowds with their booth seating. We got a private room and the space can accommodate a large crowd, probably like 10-15 people. It has a rotating glass table so very easy to get to all the dishes we ordered. Our server was there at all times to accommodate to any and all of our needs. I recommend getting a private room if anyone is having a large party. We were given some boiled peanuts to snack while we looked over the menu. We order a ton of seafood and all of it was very good. So glad to have a such a great Cantonese restaurant in the neighborhood. The food here is just as good as the places in Flushing (if not better), and way less annoying to get to. I had dinner there tonight and was very impressed with both their food and service. The salty fish eggplant & chicken casserole was flavorful, came out piping out, and had great caramelization. A great dish over hot rice. The Dungeness crab in salty egg was meaty, juicy, and had a great salty kick. We also had their stir-fried conch with deep fried tofu, and I really liked that they made a good slurry (some places make it too thick and it's gross). To top it off, their red bean dessert soup was not overly sweet, which made it a nice ending to a rich meal. I'm looking forward to go back and try some other stuff. read more

Each time I review this restaurant my rating goes down a notch further and there's good reason for it. I started eating here in 2014. Waiters and waitresses back then cared about pleasing me and my taste. They took the time when I ordered to ask me about it. Now, unless you are Chinese, they throw the food at you and they've come up with enough rules like only one credit card per check. I eat out all over NYC and Long Island regularly, I eat all kinds of very authentic food and I loved the fact that LN 1380 was authentic Cantonese food of a superior quality. But when I'm in a party of two, I don't want all the food brought out at the same time and if I ask if we've ordered too much, they could have the decency to answer me. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in recent years as it seems that the employees here only care about one thing, your money. It's a shame to leave a place with good Cantonese food and feel entirely ripped off. I've been here twice now. Once for a banquet type event for a friend's baby and once for a family dinner. Both visits were enjoyable. All the food was well prepared and the flavors were well balanced. My favorite dish during the banquet was surprisingly their special fried rice. I'm not even a big fan of fried rice, but this really was special! It had these crunchy bits in it that added a strange, but interesting texture and flavor. I've also had their Dungeness crab sticky rice, braised pork belly, salt and pepper squid, and steamed fish. Their crab sticky rice was impressive. I use to love this dish at a different restaurant in flushing, but since have experienced disappointment in their execution. This will be my new restaurant when I want this dish. Begun the dim sum wars have. As I wrote in another review, my go-to place for dim sum east of Flushing has always been Northern Manor. LN1380 is the newest dim sum place to hit Little Neck, and perhaps not coincidentally it's just two doors down. On the one hand, this was quite the cheeky move by the owners, but on the other hand, if a little competition will help both restaurants provide higher and higher quality dim sum for all of us, that's never a bad thing. Of course, putting your restaurant two doors down from your competitor is going to lead to comparisons, and so that's how I'll frame this review. - The layout - This is all-important for a dim sum place, and Northern Manor wins this one hands down, helped by the fact that they just have more room to work with. At LN1380 we were seated on a side table, and the space was so limited that carts couldn't even roll by. We often had to get up out of our seats to flag down certain food (which kind of defeats the purpose of dim sum). - The food - I tend to judge dim sum by the shumai, and my wife judges it by the chicken feet. The shumai was good, but just seemed a little overcooked--just a bit too poofy and soggy. My wife reports that the chicken feet were too soggy as well. The slight edge here goes to Northern Manor was well, where both those things usually come out just right. - The service - This is where I give a big edge to Northern Manor. As we were wrapping up our meal, we asked one of the servers if we could order something to go. She seemed annoyed at us and told us to go to the front to pay, and then we could order whatever she wanted there. To the manager's credit, he intercepted my wife and told her he'd take care of it. - The creativity - This is clearly where LN1380 is looking to differentiate themselves, and they do a pretty good job. They have cute menu options such as glutenous rice balls shaped like a chick, sweet buns shaped like little pigs (complete with ears and snout made of tiny buns), and sausage buns shaped like little dogs. Granted, a lot of their innovations are gimmicky, and they do come at a cost, but I do like the fact that they try. - The customers - Not a good thing or a bad thing, but just an observation. I sensed that the clientele in LN1380 were more upscale, "hipster" types, while Northern Manor tended to have more families and "regular" folk. - The cost - Big edge to Northern Manor here. Our bill at LN1380 for two people came out to over $60, which is over $20 more than what we usually at at Northern Manor. Granted, we tried a few of their unique dishes, which added quite a bit to the bill. But I was disappointed that they even charged for tea, which is akin to McDonalds charging for napkins and packets of salt. - Parking - It stinks for both LN1380 and Northern Manor. Both have parking lots in the back; Northern Major is first-come, first-served, while LN1380 charges for valet parking. You'll do best to get a spot at a meter on the street. And so the winner by split decision is Northern Manor. If I had to choose between the two (and I do), Northern Manor will typically be my go-to place, although I wouldn't hesitate to walk two doors down to LN1380 if the wait is too long. I should also say that both places still pale in comparison to Flushing, but if you live in Eastern Queens or Nassau County and need your dim sum fix without having to deal with traffic and parking, you can't go wrong with either of them. read more

I have only been here twice. The first time was very pleasant. What drew me back here were the cute buns they serve. Today I came back and they said they were sold out of the buns which was disappointing. As we continued to order other food my friend suddenly spit out a piece of broken glass from the fried turnip cake we were all eating! I came here in the morning with my son and my Mom around 10:30 am on a Saturday. The place was half full already. I really hate going into Flushing for Dim Sum and this was pretty good was decent amount of parking and I did not feel that my car was in danger of getting side swiped like I usually am when I park my car in Flushing. The prices are a bit more expensive, but I think it balances out with the parking and just the ease in getting to this place. The buns were really cute (which I attached some pictures) and they were not cheap with their fillings either. I know of a place in Flushing, where they are also trying to make cute buns, but they are really chintzy on their filling. These buns are cute and filling ! If I can give -5 star, I totally would. Worst service ever. Avoid at all cost. We reserved the dinner at 5:30, yet when we arrived at 5:25 no one decided to respond to us until 5:45. We stood in front of the waitress the entire time yet they decided to take care of the take out guy who came after us!!! This is becoming our new favorite Chinese restaurant. We came here for dinner and dim sum. Both times were good! You don't have to fight for parking like in Flushing. There are street parking and valet parking. They make cute little dim sum buns that look like pigs and dogs. The kids loved it! The regular dim sum menu - har gow, siu mai and pork ribs were fresh. Prices are reasonable. Their dinner menu is very good too. The short ribs and the peking pork were good. The garlic chicken was also delicious...especially their crispy skin! We took mom here to celebrate her 60th birthday! We were all really excited to try this new upscale dim sum restaurant in Little Neck (literally a few feet away from the Manor). I have to say the decor is absolutely gorgeous! I truly do love the renovation of the restaurant, but we didn't think it was the right fit for dim sum. They didn't leave much room for the dim sum carts to go around and you basically have to order the dim sum from a piece of a paper and the wait staff will bring you the food. Now, here comes the problem. THEY NEED TO HIRE MORE PEOPLE! There were 2-3 people working the floor and there were at least 20 tables occupied. We had so much dirty dishes piled up on our table that left us no room for new food to come. Also, what drove me nuts was that they tried to serve our table with dirty utensils and bowls that had rice stains all over and dried vegetables on the serving spoon for our soup. Our family joked around about them spitting in my food because I sent back the dirty utensils multiple times. We always order a lot of dim sum and usually everything is very good. I come here on non-peak hours and park on the street. Generous portions + great flavor. We had a few other steamed dishes (shrimp cheong fun, and they were quite good too. If you're like me and can't stand the smell of durian, hold your breath here. Dinner: You should probably secure a reservation for weekend nights, especially on holidays. Crab is the name of the game for dinner here at LN. I've tried their steamed crab with sticky rice as well as the curry crab. Both are delicious and very fresh. The table next to us ordered a whole Alaskan King Crab and the staff brought out the live monster to show it off. I was so drawn that I neglected to do my usual due diligence of Yelping the spot beforehand. How bad could a new place with not one empty table in the house be? Boy was I disappointed in myself when after 20 minutes of waiting for our dim sum platter viewing the low ratings in Yelp. For $12 the dim sum platter had only six pieces of three typical staples. I was pissed and ready to bolt even though we had already ordered two super-priced entrees. To shorten this up, the pan-fried noodles with shredded pork was tasteless and the house special fried rice was the absolute worse I ever had. I never knew fried rice could be screwed up. At least the portions were more than I expected for the price. And OMG did I have the most jacked up bubble guts not even 30 minutes after the meal. I was reaching for the Alka Seltzer to settle my stomach. While we did take most of the food with us, we probably won't be returning even though the restaurant design was on 10. I usually do not give 2 stars unless I feel that the restaurant is in desperate need of improvement. Upon arriving we were seated immediately and we're given the list of dishes and we can write how much we wanted of each item. First thing that strike me was the price...PRETTY EXPENSIVE DIMSUM IF YOU ASK ME. $4-6 depending on what you choose and dimsum are small portioned dishes...maybe the price was high because of the area but we thought "hey if it's that price it should be pretty good" and went on ordering a few dishes. And again, we were disappointed again. The beef wrapped in rice roll that we recieved was COMPLETELY RAW ON THE INSIDE (somebody cue Gordon Ramsay please) It was literally red, I can understand if it was a slight pink and would've let it go but no, the beef was so raw that you can still hear it moo-ing, no thanks. We told the waiter about the problem, and he didn't seem surprised or concerned. But he brought our dish back and we were eventually given a replacement...but seriously how can a place that "specializes in dimsum" mess this up. Actually, this is more like 3.5 stars. If you get here early on the weekend, the dim sum is incredibly fresh and piping hot. However, there aren't alot of choices as they're still steaming and cooking in the back, which means other than the staples (har gow, sui mai, etc), you're going to have to wait for what you really want to slowly make its way out of the kitchen. If you get here late (1-2), though, the dim sum can be lukewarm. So I guess the sweetspot is 11:30-noon. I like that this place is not as frenzied as the restaurants closer to Flushing are, and I don't feel rushed while I'm eating. But I also don't feel that the carts come often enough, and when they do, it's the same foods. There's not enough variety. What gets really annoying is the staff who constantly disappear and reappear at the same time. As a group, they're either all at the front or in the back. Hahaha. We got a good laugh (sauce nazi!) and by this point, it doesn't matter one way or another because we all agree that we're never coming back here again. We order a Sprite and our eyes follow the waiter as we watch him make his way to the other side of the room with zero intention of ever bringing said Sprite. We laugh some more. (Wow!) ... Time and time again, I fail to understand. Why would a new business run this way?! Who in this day in age doesn't the understand the power of social media? What business owner doesn't review the bounty of feedback from outlets such as Yelp?! Why wouldn't you work to impress and improve?! Why wouldn't you want your business to succeed?!
