Lobster King has been around for years but we went for the first time last night. We were blessed to be invited to a dinner there and the hosts ordered the meal for 10 people. There were various waitresses serving our table which was nice. Our teapots were always filled and dishes were taken away promptly. The only downfall was that they did not fill our cups of water the entire time we were there. My daughter drank all of her water so I shared mine with her. The dishes came out one after another and their presentation is very nice. The lobster was cut up into different size pieces and it was difficult to eat its. They give you some scissors and other implements but it still was hard to get the meat out of some pieces. Everything was delicious and pretty fancy! It was the first time I had an abalone dish. Parking is in the back off of Keeaumoku. I would suggest making reservations because it was pretty busy on a Sunday night. read more

Old school Cantonese restaurant. Staff speaks Cantonese. Food came out fast but the service was on the slower side side since there was around 3 servers for the whole restaurant at evening. Good parking is a must for me whenever I dine. This place must have one of the worst parking lots. Located on the corner of a busy street the parking is very crammed and dark with an accident waiting to happen. The lot is not well lit with cars haphazardly making their own spots. Minus one star. Seating is crammed and tight. The area is so small it's so hard to maneuver around and the acoustics are terrible. You cannot hear anyone talk because of everyone else's conversations in the room. You are literally on top of each other and it makes for a tense not so fun meal. It seems the busy-ness maybe due to masses of people using their 10% off gift card. The servers are fine and seem super rushed. No time for niceties. Just order your food and leave. We ordered 6 dishes and that amounted to over a 30 minute wait for our food. We had Peking duck, fried rice, vegetables, beef chow fun, tofu vegetables and fried fish. The best dish was the Peking duck..buns were large with duck stuffed in the middle...too bad the included shrimp chips were old. Fried rice was good but nothing extraordinary, the vegetables were fine but lacked flavor. Beef chow fun was watery and very pale in color..more like a boiled noodle. The walnut shrimp portion was very small..also very pale looking. Fried carp on a stick was rubbery and not fun to eat. Nothing stood out. Payment was kinda interesting because it seems everyone busted out a gift card. Guess it's a clue that this place maybe unusually busy because of the gift card payment. Note there was a 10% discount on the gift card. Overall will probably not return until they improve their offerings and fix the parking situation. read more

The last time I came here was when they first opened. We had a dinner for 10 people so I made reservations in advance. It was a Monday so it wasn't too busy. I saw that they had a premade menu for parties of 10 people so decided to go with that and added on a few other plates that wasn't on the menu so I didn't have to worry about what to get. We got the $560 menu. Everything that came out was tasty, service was great, food came out fairly quick. Our server Kevin was very helpful and kept checking on us & very accommodating. This is one of our go to restaurants for family celebrations and we were here this evening for a birthday. The service is usually good, although when they're very busy it can be a bit chaotic, and the food is consistently above average. We had our favorites like the fried tofu, a crispy delight with yummy sauce and Mongolian beef with tender slices of slightly spicy beef and lots of onions and bamboo shoots. Tried the chicken and salted fish fried rice which was ok but not wow and the Choi sum which was all stems and a tad tough. Our other dishes were tasty. read more

I must say it's my first time eating at lobster King and I can tell you that I love it. The flavor was good. The food was delicious. I even had lobster and if you know me, I'm allergic to shellfish but I was able to eat the meat of the lobster while peeling it off from its shell. I think e has a total of 8 entire and was pleasantly surprised when we got the bill. I was expecting to pay more. So happy so full and I'm one satisfied customer. I'm going back there again. The service was horrible and the food mediocre. We were a party of six. Our waiter brought a plate of dumplings we had ordered and then we waited over 40 minutes for the rest of our order. The tables around us, who were seated at the same time as us, were served more quickly. They were almost done eating when we asked our waiter when our food would be ready. Service here was so bad. What's the point of making a reservation if we still need to wait and then wait an additional hour for our food to come out. Our entrees were coming out slowly one by one. By the time we finish one dish, we'd have to wait for the next entree to come out. Why not just wait until majority of our orders are cooked and serve everything at once? Lobster King has an extensive Chinese dishes and I feel like most people come here to eat lobster or maybe we just didn't order the right thing. They have lots of free parking. Once we parked, we could smell a strong stench of rotten seafood. Oddly, there was dumpster right across from their back entrance. Once we were sat, we could smell the bleach from the restroom. These smells just wasn't too pleasant and really ruined the dining experience. I am no interior designer but the lay out of this restaurant was strange and a messy place where you can see everything like they should have some room diver or movable wall panels. Popular spot that seems to always be crowded. We were lucky to snag the last open stall in the lot (enter off keeaumoku or from king st). The restaurant is quite big so it's easy to walk in unless you have a big party. We split three dishes between three of us - beef chow fun, ginger scallion lobster (small) and deep fried chicken with garlic. The portions are decent, however it is a bit on the pricey side. My boyfriend was still hungry after dinner so I would say you might need 4-5 dishes for three people. The lobster is a reasonable price and seasoned well - comes with some meaty pieces. I've passed this place many times and ate here a couple times in the past. I always thought the place was pretty good, especially their seafood items. They have a parking lot in the back and a huge menu of items to choose from. They have lunch specials and even lobster specials when you purchase an entree. I recently had a jajangmyeon craving, so we came for lunch recently and luckily it was pretty empty. We ordered from the lunch specials and of course we had to get a lobster. Salt and pepper is my favorite preparation for the lobster. They cut the lobster up really well so you don't need any utensils to get to the meat. We were able to get a table for a 5pm dinner. Lots of ample free parking. The food was delicious as they have a plethora of wonderful dishes. We were licking our fingers half the time because the lobster and crab were so flavorful. The abalone was my favorite. It was topped with tons of garlic .The food came out pretty fast and the waiters and waitresses were nice and very attentive to our party. Not bad ... a seemingly Chinese but Korean operated place! Food was A-OK I finally got to eat here today and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered 3 things: lobster with black bean sauce, beef with sour cabbage, and seafood on chow mein. The beef was my #1, followed by the lobster, then the noodles. My parents have been to Lobster King in the past, and mentioned how good their Cantonese food was so we decided to stop here for lunch after doing some shopping. They have a decent sized parking lot in the back by their door, which is a huge plus. We were greeted and seated immediately. We ended up ordering: - Chinese broccoli - Tofu in basket - Clams with black bean sauce - 2 lobsters ($24.95/ea) To my surprise, the food was pretty good that we ended up finishing everything. The tofu was soft and had a lot of flavor in the sauce/gravy. The clams and black bean sauce was really tasty. The clams were also fresh. The lobsters were the main dishes and both were really good. Though on the smaller side, you can't beat the price and flavor. The lobsters were fresh and the sauces were delicious. The meat was so tender and sweet. What the heck -- 5 stars! I've driven past Lobster King on King Street countless times, always meaning to stop but never finding the time. For my birthday dinner, I finally decided to give it a try, and it exceeded all expectations. We ordered three whole crabs, three whole lobsters, and about six other dishes to complement the seafood. The ambience is that classic Chinese restaurant vibe, complete with live seafood tanks that sparked a bit of nostalgia. They even bring the seafood to your table for inspection before cooking, which is a nice touch The food was amazing. Our favorite dish by far was the golden lobster--it was cooked to perfection with a sauce that was just the right blend of savory and sweet. The Pei Pa Tofu was also something special, with a delicate texture and rich flavor that stood out among the dishes. Even the simple plates like beef chow fun and fried rice were exceptional, bursting with flavor and cooked just right The only letdown was the garlic fish. It was battered and deep-fried with garlic chips on top, but it wasn't very flavorful and was overly breaded, making it quite oily. Despite that, the overall experience was fantastic. The prices were extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we got. We went on a Saturday night with no reservations. It was very crowded. Wait was about 20 minutes for a table. It took another 15 minutes for our orders to be taken. Menu was extensive. Definitely worth studying the menu before you go. Mix of Chinese and Korean blended foods. Oysters albeit small was fresh, lobster noodles was a little salty, and Peking duck was on point. Portions were relatively large definitely made for family style sharing. Lobster King was definitely vibing, good for groups, and very loud. Restaurant staff were a mix of hurried, abrupt, and some did not speak English making communication somewhat difficult. It was clear if you spoke Korean or Chinese your table was serviced quickly. Towards the middle of our meal we came across a couple of very helpful and nice staffers. Overall, food was palatable, atmosphere was upbeat and experience was interesting to say the least. At first we went here because the restaurant we were planning to go to was closed. We saw this place and decided to go to although we had gone in the past but I don't remember it. It was good and reminded me of the Chinese restaurants I used to go to with my extended family in the past. Hot and Sour Soup - good but slightly different than usual H&S soup. There is shrimp inside it. Shrimp with scrambled egg over rice - good dish, not too wet and very tasty. No overwhelming flavors. Lobster house special - didn't try it but it's probably good since lobster is in their name. Fried tofu with vegetable - good, with the sauce it makes the fried part softer so it's not full fried tofu, it's more like coated tofu. Fish fillet - very good. It reminds me of my favorite dish back then which was steamed sea bass, slight ginger hints and tastes good. Minus the bones which is nice. Crispy garlic chicken - it is also like the chicken we used to have back then, not too much batter and the garlic enhances the taste but isn't overwhelming.
