As a local I go here very often to get there fried lobster (Lazyman) dinner. Today, I was there and was appalled when I looked to see only 4 pisces of semi-fried lobster. I couldn't believe it so I went back in and was told this is the normal amount we give for this dinner two claws and one tail. Mind you the lobster wasn't even battered looked like they pulled it out of a frozen can and threw it in oil. The manager took my food and didn't even try to ask if I would like something else on the menu. He just gave me a receipt stating my order was voided. We visited on a Saturday night and it was surprisingly not that busy. Lobster rolls were very tasty with plenty of big chunks of meat. French fries are the salty stringy kind that pair well with the cool crisp cole slaw. The clam chowder was also very fresh and tasty. For the prices I would expect larger portions but I also understand market prices vary so it's hard to rate off that. For a family of 2 adults and 3 big kids plus a toddler our check was average at about ~100 with drinks which come with free refills. Was there over the summer. Even though it was the night before Phantom gourmet was to be there ( you would think chaos ) they had it all together. Very disappointed. I ordered the seafood platter. The price was 29.95 . I don't mind paying for quality. The portions were lacking. The clam strips tasted like fried rubber bands, the 3 scallops reminded me of a frozen fish entree from Gorton's of Gloucester. The tiny portion of shrimp tasted like it was fried in yesterday's grease. The fish portion was ok but very small, probably about 2 ounces. The fries and cole slaw were passible but not plentiful. The 2 stars were given because the food was hot and available during the pandemic. There are other fish restaurants less than a stone's throw away. I've only come here a few times in the past few years, but I've never been disappointed. The food is fresh, the service is wonderful! I had dinner here last night with a girlfriend and the experience was great. We showed up about 20 minutes before close and were greeted as if we were the first customers of the day. The girl at the register was so pleasant and assured us that it was no trouble than we showed up at the time we did. We ordered a dozen oysters, steamers, clam strips, and fish & chips. Everything tasted delicious, as if it were July on Cape Cod. We also ordered a bottle of wine, which a nice man was nice enough to let us sample first. My friends and I spontaneously drove to the cape from Boston because we were bored. It was a cold wintery night and we were hungry. We stumbled across this seafood shack and decided to check it out. It was super empty because it was in the middle of winter. We ordered a whole lobster to ourselves and fried clams. The fried clams were SO good! Thinking about it makes me drool. It was the first time I ate a whole lobster to myself, so it was cool to learn how to rip one apart. It was super fun and super delicious! I had such a great time here. The staff was really friendly! They even let us hold one of the biggest lobsters that they had in the tank. I would love to come here again if it wasn't so far! Two hours of a car ride I believe. read more

I am surprised this is my first review here. I hate how the commercial lists 'Buzzards Bay' for a location here because it really is Wareham all the way. But I love the spot, and I know some have trouble with the different areas to order depending on what you order, but that's the seafood business and there are lots of spots that do the same. I give you 4 stars for always pleasing my family. This is my grandparents Sunday lunch spot and occasionally my family will join them on a trip down the cape for lunch. We've always left pleased... most the food is fried but its not that greasy fried crap, its actually good. I can't help it, I always order the clam strip plate because its simply my favorite and usually along with that I order the stuffed quahog. My family gets anything from the fisherman's plate to a tuna roll... and those scallops on the fisher-mans plate are a very decent size. Staff is very friendly and they make sure their tables which are like indoor picnic tables, are clean. They have two counters to order from. Seafood plates, sodas and ice cream on one end, chowder lobsters and beer at the other end. The place is small and not usually too crowded so its no big deal... It did have a ton of clams, but like I said, it was tasteless.It had to the the worst cup of chowder I have had on the cape. The lobster was hard as a rock and the meat was not soft and melt in your mouth. It was more chew like hell and try not to choke when swallowing. The steamers were standard. The didnt give us a lot, about 8-10. The quohog was delicious though! In other words, try other places on the cape. You guys are so right. Like most Phantom picks, they pay to be on the show. The food/portions are better a few hundred yards done the road at Barnacle Bills. Not as glitzy, but a true clam shack. Plus this place has a dumb ordering system. One window for lobster/steamers, one for fried seafood. I waited at the wrong one through a line of people then told to go to the other line. So greasy, I was reminded of the tv show, Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire when Will would bring home Philly cheese steaks in a grease-soaked bag. We eat here every time we head to the cape ! At least 5xs a season. Love food here. One counter for all fried seafood & lobster out of shell. Another counter for steamed lobsters ,oysters ,clams!! At our last visit we got steamed lobster that seamed sort soft & not lot of meat inside. That being said , the lobster was sweet & delicious just not what we're used to. Well as anyone who goes there knows this restaurant is owned by two brothers! They schooled us on how lobsters run this time of year. Some are hard shelled with more meat but not as sweet And a little more chewy. So glad the brothers took the time to explain to us why this occurs. The lobster was fresh as always and tasted fantastic as I said it just wasn't what we were used to!! The lobster pot will always be our go to place whenever we head to Cape Cod These two brothers run a great business with great food and great customer service. We've been relying on Mike Urban and his guide to lobster shacks in New England to lead the way. I think our own sample size is large enough that we can tell what's good and what isn't. This was a disappointment, at least on the lobster roll side. The rolls were fine; the New England split-top, buttered and toasted. The lobster meat was "soggy" and didn't have that succulent, sweet flavor that Miss Mary and I expect in a top-quality lobster roll. The clam chowder was very good, so it saved the stop for me, anyways. Not sure how the other items were; there's a ton of fried clams, fish, scallops. I have been coming to the Lobster Pot for a few years. It's expensive, but the food is generally good. My last experience has me questioning whether I will come back. Ordered the lobster roll. 19.99 which is high but standard for a Summer place on the Cape. Came packed with lobster but completely devoid of flavor. No flavor at all. I've never had a lobster roll that tasted like nothing. We questioned whether it was previously frozen. Brought this up to what appeared to be a manager and all he could do is say "sorry to hear that". No offer to replace it, take it off the bill, offer anything else. Horrible customer service. Very little clams in the soup (mostly potatoes) and served Luke warm. The lobster Mac and cheese was all bread and very little lobster, the lobster was ok, the garlic mashed potato was cold, and the clam sandwich also served lukewarm. The fries were not fried when we ordered them. They were sitting there awhile. Nothing was delicious or memorable. Service was ok but for the hefty price of the food and the fact that we eat out all the time, there are better restaurants to eat at. The place may be famous but the food is sub par. We oreded a cup of chowder for my wife. It was very, very good. Very deserving of the best chowder on the cape for 2010. We also had an order of shrimp, an order o scallops and an order of whole belly clams. The shrimp and scallops were cooked to perfection. The clams were the very small, typically Maine clams this time of year. They were good but seemed a little soggy for some reason. Possibly, they cooked them first before the scallops and shrimp. All in all, I really like this place and stop in whenever I can. They have a commercial on TV for big lobsters. They did have a 6lb one in the tank today and I learned some info about lobsters that I did not know before. I do recommend a stop in here whenever you are in the area.
