We came back to Ptown with one mission: buttered lobster rolls. After almost 4 years, it was the one thing we were craving. I had forgotten that our first stop on Commercial St. only do mayo lobster rolls. That's an instant no. So we ended up at Lobster Pot Express around the corner. This place is exactly what the name says: Express. No frills, just order at the counter, grab a seat at one of the picnic tables under the tent or take it to go. The menu is packed with seafood and as a pescatarian, I was in heaven. The "express" part is real: you order, wait a few and be on your way with the goods. At $33 ($35 with tax and stuff) we walked away with 2 generously-filled lobster rolls. We had tunnel vision and went straight for the "hot lobster roll," thinking butter-soaked heaven. Here's the catch: their idea of "hot" is just warm lobster meat. The drawn butter comes in a little container on the side. For me, a hot lobster roll means the lobster is already tossed in butter before it hits the bun. That tiny detail changes everything- but it wasn't totally a big deal. Pro tip: read the menu carefully. If you don't like pickles, beware- they stick a wedge under the roll making the bottom bun soak up that pickle juice and leaving it soggy. I ditched the bottom part and had the rest of my sandwich as an open-face and ate the rest with a fork. And even if you were into pickles let's say, why would you eat a soggy bun that's falling apart because it's been resting on a pickle??? The pickle needs to be wrapped separately point blank. The service is great though, the lobster portion was huge and if you're just here for the meat and the size, you'll walk away happy. read more

We just wanted a quick soup after eating elsewhere. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the small seating area is simple and functional. My wife was craving a lobster roll all summer and as it was our second time of this summer spending a week in North Truro we took the shuttle into Provencetown and decided to try the Lobster Pot express. We made an excellent choice if I do say so myself. Her lobster roll was absolutely stuffed with lobster, just looking at it in comparison to photos from other area restaurants and their lobster roll offerings was evident. She wholeheartedly enjoyed it and said it was delicious. I ordered the clam with belly plate and although the portion wasn't as large as I get in the Ipswich Ma area, it was a great deal enough to fill me up and very fresh. The service was take out but the order came out very fast,and we easily got seats at their picnic tables Definitely a place to check out if you are coming to Provencetown. read more

If I could come here every day I probably would! The lobster rolls amazing !!! I love the creativity they have with it. Chose the one with sriracha, avocado and aioli and it was delicious! Quick service, great flavor, excellent location! It was nice to be able to take the food and walk across the street to picnic tables on the beach and eat with a view! What an awesome location! Lobster roll is my favorite along with chowda and a side of slaw. Chicken fingers are fried perfectly with fries. My order was quickly taken with little wait. The outdoor sitting is perfect for quick eat and continue on to your adventure, which is geocaching. I would recommend the express that offers the same food as the main restaurant. read more

This place totally hit the spot. As a big Bourdain fan, I think he would actually like this walk-up style window -- maybe even better than the especially (and exhaustively) long menu at the OG Lobster Pot. I was craving Lobster Bisque and after a few "meh" dishes in the Cape, I figured I'd have to try Lobster Pot. But, I balked at the long menu -- I was completely overwhelmed! Thankfully, the Lobster Pot Express offers a highlight/best-of menu from the OG location -- and it did not disappoint. A few cute, covered tables are available on their patio and it was the perfect spot to hide from the wind and enjoy a Lobster Bisque and loaded fries lunch. I'd like to just say ... the bisque was perfection. While there were no huge chunks of lobster, it was perfectly diced and incorporated throughout the cup. Every bite had morsels of lobster and the thickness was just right. (And, if it was cooked with sherry, it was hardly noticeable, which is my preference!) My husband also got the basket of chicken fingers and they were delish, too. All in all... let's just say it's been over a week and I'm still craving round 2 of this bisque. Very disappointed. We went for lunch recently and ordered 2 lobster roll sandwiches . It said Market price on the menu. When the attendant said our order was ready, she announced it was $82.00. We were floored. Since it had already been made, we felt obligated to pay for it. While making payment, she had this look like don't forget to tip me... So folks, if you want 2 lobster rolls and a tip for the service person, lunch will set you back nearly $100.00. On top of that, the sandwiches were only average size and taste. This was totally out of line for our order. We have had much better and larger lobster rolls for $25.00 each in town. Our advice... stay away from Lobster Pot Express! I had a last minute lunch today, take out. The kind person taking orders and taking payment was lovely and very friendly. Everything was very fast and efficient. It's a small, seafood shack and a little pricey being in a tourist area but overall the food was decent. I had the shrimp roll, and there's a generous amount of shrimp. It's fresh and lightly fried. Add a dash of lemon juice! The fish and chips were delicious as well - the fries were crispy and well fried, and the fish filets were lightly fried and tasted fresh. This is an "express" location for the famous Lobster Pot. The location is very convenient - we got a lobster roll with chips and chicken tender with fries. The lobster roll came with a small bag of Cape Cod chips, Cole slaw and a pickle. The value for money for the lobster roll ($26) was not great, especially since the chips were just a small bag of chips. The lobster meat was tasty but served cold. The pickle had no flavor. The chicken tenders were basic tenders and the fries were probably the best part of the meal unfortunately. This is an okay location if you're looking for a fast meal (and the service was relatively fast), but food unfortunately is not the forte. There are a few picnic tables at this location as well and a public restroom about 200 feet away. read more

Honestly, the best food I've had in Cape Cod. My family and I tried many different places while we were out there and this was by far the best food we've had out there. We had the chicken sandwich, burgers and lobster roll with the street corn, let me just say we were speechless with the way it was seasoned and cooked. Everything here was edible but would not return. The high prices aren't based on quality, they are based on location. I can't recommend any other place in Ptown, either. bread bowl burnt so hard it was like a puck, both soups tasted like they were out of a can, salad tasted not at all fresh, was disappointing to open my shrimp scampi and there not be noodles in it. fries were okay. spent $53 for not good or quality food. not worth it.
