Finally! I have been trying to stop by this place on my way in to and out of the lower Keys for quite some time and always JUST miss the hours of operation window. I may have a few selfies with the gigantic lobster out front throughout my photo history to prove it. I will first say to those that give poor reviews because there's "nothing to the lobster roll" or "it's just lobster and lettuce" ...shame on you. Yes! It's just lobster and lettuce! As it should be! Why would someone take beautiful and freshly cooked lobster and bastardize it with extras?? That would be a crime. My .02 for what it's worth. This place is exactly what it advertises to be on the sign. It's a lobster shack. Nothing fancy, no bells and whistles and no claims of any of that. It's a super cute shack on the side of the road with picnic tables, decorated with fun signs and multi-colored trinkets. My boyfriend and I both ordered a lobster roll with a side of pasta salad and split a Coke (old school nostalgic glass bottle). At $13 per lobster roll and pasta salad (or chips) combo, this little gem of a meal is more than reasonable. The roll is a good size, very lightly toasted and stuffed with simply lobster and lettuce. The lobster was slightly sweet and cooked to perfection, just melts in your mouth. The pasta is obviously homemade and lightly dressed with a vinaigrette rather than mayo. I may have dipped the tail end of my lobster roll in the remaining vinaigrette, not because it needed it, but because I thought that would be more appropriate than just licking the glass bowl. The vinaigrette was delicious and to be honest, I really don't think anyone woulda thought much of a little glass bowl hanging off of my face. Maybe next time. After we ate, we walked around the little shops that are adjacent to the shack which sell all sorts of 'Keys type' odds and ends from tye dyed dresses to signs to painted buoys. Definitely worth the stop. Definitely will be back again. read more

Service is fast, but that is about the only thing this place has going for itself. Ambience is neat as it is outdoors, great for a sunny afternoon lunch. I was excited to try this place as it had been on my radar for some time, but it disappointed as far as the food went - this is a mom &a pop kind of place in the Florida Keys and I thought it was safe to assume that they would serve locally caught Florida/spiny lobster, but instead the lobster was from Maine...overpriced and definitely not a same day catch. Only had option of classic lobster roll. The roll was good but price is $20.99 for roll only with potato chips. Extra for small pasta salad instead of chips. You eat at picnic table outside. We stopped at this cute little joint on our way to Key West to get some takeout for a beach picnic. Once you get passed the monstrosity that is a 20 foot tall lobster sculpture, the slightly abrasive order taker and the odd decor (including a decapitated Santa head on a pike) the food was just what we were looking for. Alyson called their lobster roll her favorite thing we ate on our whole trip. The bun was perfectly toasted and stuffed with a generous portion of lobster. Since we were in the Keys, Joe pushed for the conch fritters. The fritters were a bit soggy but still enjoyable. A side of remoulade versus honey mustard would have taken them up a notch. Both came with a fresh pasta salad of tricolor rotini and black olives in olive oil. Of course it was key lime pie for dessert. We took our order along with a bottle of white wine and enjoyed them under the shade of a mangrove tree on Anne's Beach 20 miles up the road. It was our own little slice of heaven. read more

The lobster roll is delicious, and we also love the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich (trust me--it's amazing), the Cuban sandwich, the chicken salad sandwich, hamburgers, and the Caesar salad are also among our favorites. Insider tip--get the pasta salad--it is unique (made with mandarin oranges and pickles), but the combination is so good; you'll crave it for days. We love to drink the fresh lemonade and the Mexican cokes too. My kids ask me almost every day if they get to go eat at Miss Katie's Lobster Shack. Don't pass it up! It's worth the visit. read more

Stopped here going to Key West. The lobster roll was so good that we stopped again going back. Lobster is cool, tender & sweet-- and the bun (sweet like Hawaiian bread) was toasted and chewy. Taking a day trip from Stock Island, we stopped at Bahia Honda Park first, we realized we were halfway between two Lobster Shacks. Since it rained on our trip in, we decided to head north. Unbeknownst to us, the is a huge flea market that happens at Islamorada. We sat in 2 hours of traffic for a lobster roll, a lobster roll that we never enjoyed because this place was closed. I wanted to really like the food here but the lobster roll was just ok. Other than than there's not much I can say. This is an outdoor counter style place with a definite laid back Caribbean island vibe. There was plenty of seating at one of the colorful wooden picnic style tables. Service was friendly and the rolls tasted fresh just a bit average. I guess our experience here just was not as spectacular as it apparently was for others. I love this place. I was only in town for a short while yet I made sure to go back. It's a small little place nestled inside an artist's community.
