Ordered the clam chowder to go and it was perfect -- rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Local Grill & Scoop knows how to do chowder right. Only complaint? The tipping prompt at checkout for to-go orders. This isn't on the employees at all -- they're great -- but whoever set up the system (looking at you, management) should reconsider. Asking for a tip on a takeout order feels unnecessary. Fix that and this place is flawless. read more

Stopped in for brunch on a sunny day and sat outside on the nice patio . Our server was not very friendly but brought us everything we needed. I ordered the crab eggs Benedict and halfway through my first one, I found a long, black hair underneath the English muffin. One of the busboys took my plate away and the server came back with a receipt and informed me that she credited half my breakfast . I asked if I was getting another plate as I was still hungry . She took the receipt, crumpled it up and walked away mad. Never offered a replacement or an apology. I was shocked at her lack of manners and her rudeness. This WAS our go to place for breakfast when visiting Cannon Beach. Not going here anymore. We have 2 small dogs, contained in packs. We sat on the patio the day before and sat the dogs on chairs next to us in their packs - didn't have any issues. The following day we went for breakfast again, only to be told by the young waitress that we couldn't set the dogs (in their packs) on the chairs. We told her we had just done this the day before. Randomly picked this restaurant among many in Cannon Beach. They have both patio and inside seating. We chose outdoors, right off the street. We were very happy with the experience and found nothing to complain about. The highlights: The warm seafood salad (see pic). Lots of perfectly cooked seafood in a bed of lettuce. The scallops were the best part. I had the chicken salad sandwich and chowder combo to check out the soup and save room for dessert. The sandwich was very good and the chowder, excellent. I hate starchy overly- thick chowder and this had the perfect consistency. Lots of flavor and a great mix of potatoes and clams. Two in our group had the shrimp fettuccini which they enjoyed. One said the portion wasn't large enough, but he's a growing teen so there's never enough food. The pasta came with a side of toasted bread. For dessert we had the Marion berry pie and an Americano. Great combo. Nice that they served espresso and not just drip coffee. Only food drawback was the limited draft beer selection. All Pilsners and IPAs due to it being spring time. I had a bottled Black Butte porter that tasted almost as good as a draft. The service was excellent and the food came quickly. This place is very dog friendly and the bathrooms are very clean. A sweet little ice cream sandwich shop with a creative menu. The chowder fries and bacon was a fun snack. I think I liked the cup of chowder better. Unfortunately we didn't have the best experience at Local Grill & Scoop. After walking by a bunch of outdoor seating, we thought it would be a great place to stop for lunch. We asked if we could sit outside and were abruptly (and a bit rudely) seated at the table right next to the door (and the only table without an umbrella on the entire patio). It felt like a weird choice when there were many other tables available. Considering the sun was out and shining directly in our eyes, we asked our server if we could move when she came out. She was not the one who sat us and seemed a bit confused but didn't object. We moved to another table next to the one we were originally at and shrugged it off. We ordered the tuna melt and the chicken fingers. Our food was ready quickly so we dug in. The fries were pretty good, but unfortunately that was the only redeeming factor of either of our meals. The chicken tenders were not good quality. The tuna melt was pretty bland and the bread although toasted/grilled was a bit soggy. I also found a hair that I'm 99% sure was not mine in the second half, so I called it quits. We paid quickly and our server was nice enough once we ordered but overall it was a very underwhelming experience. I know that Cannon Beach is a bit of a tourist area so prices are higher but we didn't expect anything fancy and were still let down. I would try another establishment if I ever return. read more

Seafood and local fare for everyone! The ambiance of Local Grill and Scoop is welcoming, and charming, and the staff is quite nice, too. Whether you choose to sit inside or outside, ample seating is normally available to keep wait times to a minimum. We were fortunate to be seated for brunch just after noon on July 5th. The menu is a perfect moderate size, with decent sandwich, burger, salad, and seafood options. We were able to make decisions quickly, but since it was a holiday week, service was slow (which was fine since we expected this), so we read our books and enjoyed the people-watching. Once our drinks and food arrived, I was glad to see a good portion of seafood in the salad, since many other local spots may avoid adding more seafood. The coffee was not great, and was quite watered down... probably a one-time error that was quickly fixed with a reorder and ice added for the increased temperature. Once we ended our meals, the lines were getting quite long for seating, so we did our best to depart promptly after finishing a few chapters of reading before heading to the beach. Parking can be a challenge, especially on busy weekends or holidays. It will be rare for street parking to be available, so parking further away or choosing to park in one of the public lots nearby is a good idea. read more

I had the tuna melt sandwich which was the best one I've ever had. They don't under do the tuna, they add so much! The bread was wheat and seedy and the cheese was Tillamook cheddar. Very impressed. The coffee was SUPER strong which was surprising because restaurant coffee is usually weak. My dad got the fish and chips which he said was good, but pretty middle of the line. My mom got the crispy chicken salad which she said had many good components, but the ranch was most likely homemade and too buttermilk-y. Very watered down to say the least. Prime rib was cooked perfect and could use a little more flavor, but all in all was prepared the way I wanted. Came with a side of broccoli cooked to perfection and a baked potato which you can't go wrong with those. My boyfriend got the Mediterranean stew and added crab legs for only $11 which I thought was a steal. The broth could have used some more flavor and it was a little grainy. We had been walking all day and this was a nice resting spot. We were immediately served water and given menus. I got a French dip and my friend went with a chicken salad. Both were so yummy! The service was really good and the employees were all a great team. I was impressed with the fluffy bread and the au jus for my sandwich, and the meat was lean and tender. Pleasantly surprised with my meal here. I was skeptical at first. The place was empty, and on initial impressions, the tables-chairs-menu, aesthetically, aren't particularly nice and didn't quite live up to some pretty nice woodwork at the bar and other interior. It seems like it's gotten a lot of mixed reviews. I had the prime rib, hubby had the blackened halibut, and our son had the spaghetti kiddie meal. My prime rib looked over done, however it actually tasted fabulous (5/5) I had to ask for the horseradish, but it was made perfectly when they brought it out. My husband Talibut was also excellent, and my son's spaghetti was pretty decent as well, with the side garlic bread being pretty tasty. The fries were decent, typical fries. Ravenous after a long walk on the beach, so I decided to stop here for dinner. I ordered the Bleu Cheese Tease, a burger that is supposed to have bacon, Swiss cheese, and bleu cheese crumbles, Tease is right! For a burger that markets itself with bleu cheese, there was hardly any on the burger. I even asked my server if I had received the wrong order, but he informed me the bleu was under the Swiss cheese. Not really! Only a few crumbles at best. They also skimped on the bacon. 2 pieces. On another note, the bread was flat and soggy, the burger a bit cold, and FYI, the burgers all come dry, so you will need to ask for condiments. After my burger, I ordered the marionberry crumble for dessert. It was delicious. Be sure to warm it up and ask for vanilla ice cream on the side. Regarding service, my waiter was very friendly and attentive. The ambiance depends on your opinion. You can sit inside or outside on the patio. I chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful day. There were many families with kids wandering around and a few dogs barking at other dogs on the sidewalk below. A good, family friendly restaurant, but it you are looking for a quiet dinner, this might not be the place. However, it is a good place to people watch. My family came in early for lunch and it was pretty busy for a Tuesday morning. But attention to detail wasn't so great, the environment is really nice though. We had the clam chowder which smelt delicious but lacked clams and was mostly bacon bites/potato chucks. It was sorta disappointed considering the cost. Overall, bland and needs black pepper badly. Besides that it took about 10-15 minutes for us to get napkins and I generally felt bad for the waiters running back and forth 3-5 to our table. Nevertheless, I watched another table that didn't even finish there Eggs Benedict for breakfast. I would just read all the other reviews before coming here tbh. read more
