I had looked forward to a nice meal in Cherry Creek so decided to come here since neither I nor my friend had been here before. Unfortunately, I found the experience disappointing. Our server was very attentive when we first arrived but as more tables filled up, kind of forgot about us. For their pricing, I would expect service to be top notch. We started with the bread basket, which came with three small rolls to share. One of them (a pan au lait type) was absolutely delicious. The others were just okay. We split a Caesar salad for a second course, which was good but I thought the portion was small for the cost. For the entree I had their agnolotti, which is like a fancy ravioli. While it was presented nicely, it had a weird texture and didn't have any real sauce on it. For dessert, we opted for the budino. The first couple bites were good but it was a soupy mess in the middle. Overall, just didn't hit the spot for me, especially for Cherry creek. read more

I have been to Local Jones many times for happy hour or a pre or post dinner drink but had never been for dinner and I have to say I feel like I was missing out! I went with a friend for dinner recently and everything we had was so good I was genuinely impressed with the quality and freshness of the food as well as the uniqueness of the dishes. All the dishes were presented in such a beautiful way, I was so surprised. We started with oysters of course. As above they tasted fresh. Only thing I didn't love is that it was a required dozen which makes it harder to try tons of stuff when there are only two of you. We followed it up with beet hummus which was a feast for the eyes with its lovely color. It also didn't disappoint when it came to taste, served with an array of crudités (cut up raw veggies for those of us who don't feel like being all proper about the names of things) and some pita bread. I do wish there was more pita, we had a lot of the beet hummus leftover. We followed that with the Crudo (the fish dish you see in the photos). And I have to say in full disclosure I HATE olives! And if you look for even a moment at that photo you will see that yes, indeed there are olives on that fish. And I stand corrected on my opinion on olives in this dish. It was exactly the salt that I needed for this dish! It was a perfect balance of fresh, salt, and texture. The crab and artichoke beignets were honestly kind of disappointing. They had a good texture but fell far short on taste for me and felt like a waste of stomach space. They felt like they were fried to an inch of their life which made them hard to really enjoy. Leaving your hands and lips slicked with oil after every bite. The spring pea pasta was another absolute stand out for me. The sauce was perfect from quantity to texture and flavor. Even writing about this pasta now makes my mouth water. It has mushrooms and peas in this pasta so if you dislike either you will hate this, or your will try it and decide that you were wrong about mushrooms and peas, you call. Nestled in the Halcyon hotel in Cherry Creek, this is a classy spot. They serve brunch and dinner. Both are apparently a treat, but we were there for dinner with some friends. They have a nice selection of cocktails, beer, and wine. We all opted for different cocktails. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but I do know it had whiskey in it, and it was delicious. We all shared some oysters on the half shell & potato and carrot latkes to start. I'm not an oyster person, but everyone else said the oysters were great. The latkes were surprisingly flavorful. Not a large dish, but a good starter to split. I got a seasonal fish for my main. I don't usually opt for fish, but it was in a creamy sauce, which sounded amazing. Turns out it was. I ate almost all of it, which is super rare for me and fish. All in all - a great experience! Our server was also super speedy, kind and attentive, and got us in and out without a hitch. Grateful for Sunday afternoon happy hours in a heated greenhouse with girlfriends! Local Jones offers 3/4, minus the friends. You have to get those yourself! I really haven't had many in-person friend hangs in a long time. Winter in Colorado isn't conducive to being outside for more than what's absolutely necessary. Although I miss most people, shivering in the cold/wind isn't worth all that. BUT once you find a spot that has heated outdoor anything, it's a whole new world! I made a reservation specifically for a greenhouse at Local Jones, right when they opened for dinnertime at 4 pm. There was still enough light to fully appreciate their outdoor covered situation. It's well-appointed with a heater, sisal rug, tables and chairs. And you get to order off the happy hour + regular dinner time menu. I enjoyed a sparkling rose, oysters, and a really tasty burger + fries. All with my two lady friends. Do the greenhouse. It's worth it. And I hope they keep them up past COVID! read more

My favorites are the Caesar salad, Chicken Salad Melt, and Burger, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I had the LJ burger and it was absolutely worth it. Fries were crispy on the outside soft inside and just the right amount of salt. This restaurant is the perfect vibe! My boyfriend and I ate here this past Sunday and everything was amazing. The weather was beautiful, and they have these big garage doors that open and a vinyl DJ playing music. I could've stayed there all day. The food was really good too. I was between 2 cocktails and the bartender suggested I go with one of their best sellers, The Confluence aka blackberry margarita. For $15 a cocktail, I was really hoping for a standout cocktail but unfortunately that was not the case. It didn't even taste like a margarita, no sweet or tang. Wonderful spot for a quiet breakfast or lunch meeting. Wash park is always a hustle and bustle but the local Jones is a great big restaurant with plenty of space between tables. Ahhhh! Brunchtastic! We walk in, there's a DJ. He's playing vinyl. I can already smell the pancakes and coffee. I flex my brunch muscles and we sit. We order cocktails, we order coffee, we ask to switch tables because of a GIANT spider lurking nearby just waiting to steal my excellent Spill the Tea cocktail when I'm not looking, and we order food. It's a light and airy space, we're seated near a window. It's bright, it's Sunday morning, it's lively, and it's a fun buoyant atmosphere. Cocktails were a liiiittle slow to arrive, but the Spill the Tea was fabulous. I'm a sucker for anything Earl Grey. The Spritz #2 - More like 2 Die For. Four? Whatever. Great cocktails. Fabulous server too, by the way! Just a nice guy. Friendly, chatty, came by right when we needed him, very happy with the service. Wife gets the eggs Benedict, she loves it. I get the Simple Breakfast, I love it. Sourdough toast is through the roof good, eggs were perfectly on the soft gooey line between over medium and over hard. We also get Pancakes for the table, as you do. Now here's the thing. I've had a lot of pancakes. Lots of restaurants, diners, etc. Lots of pancakes from lots of places. These, dear reader, are perhaps the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. Blueberries are great, just perfectly tart. The maple syrup is real (I forgot to ask where it came from because I'm that kind of snob). But the pancakes - the cake is fabulous, dances between dense and airy in a perfect way. But the edges are crispy. Now listen I know I'm probably new to this, but holy gosh you guys, the edges are CRISPY. It's an excellent mouthfeel. Just a little Maillard to give it different flavor, and it still soaks up syrup the way maple trees have always hoped our breakfasts would do. Not SUPER spendy, but not very cheap. Be prepared. Restaurant was mostly empty. We received a lecture on both days that they didn't have any available tables and were seated at worst table in the restaurant or were instructed to sit at the bar. Both times by the time we finished restaurant was still empty. We actually canceled reservations we had for later and opted for one of the many other establishments near by. Thanksgiving plate was good, if overpriced (but everywhere is for Thanksgiving)--steak frites was really fatty to the point where three of the slices (it came pre-sliced) were inedible, but the other slices and the sauces were very good. Service was great. But I was very turned off by the fees (yes, there were multiple) added to the check, at least one of which (labeled CIF(?)) was not disclosed on the menu. Street parking can be tough, but they have valet service and there are parking garages within a block. Atmosphere: Warm, open, inviting, cozy. Very pleasant. Service: Attentive, friendly, helpful, courteous. We weren't planning on being quick, and the team seemed fine with us being slow and made sure they were ready when we were without being pushy. Food: We skipped the meals and just ordered random things to share. Charcuterie board. Lots of yummies, and the creamiest Brie I ever had. Mac and cheese. Like mom used to make (without the associated guilt). Lamb skewers. Delicious. The bomb was the Brussel Sprouts. Holy cow. The sauce was delicious. I've never had sprouts that way (with peanuts), but it's a MUST. Can't go wrong. Value: Listen, nothing's cheap anymore. A happy meal is $37.50. I really enjoyed Local Jones! The avocado toast was DELICIOUS and the poached egg was cooked exactly how I like it. Who knew pickled carrots would taste so good on it! The ambiance is great, food is great, servers are wonderful. The only critique I had was the side of fruit i ordered. The cantaloupe was delicious (which was a majority of the plate) but there were only two pieces (quarters) of a strawberry and two pieces of unripe pineapple. I went on the weekend around lunch time there was only brunch menu. I was just looking forward to the beet humus and other things but on the weekends it's only brunch menu to 2:00 i believe. The food and salad is really good just so expensive! Service was good just when we would ask for a refill of coffee the waiter would forget or just take awhile we had to ask a different waiter. I enjoyed the place, the food and the service! -LOVED the beet hummus -the avocado toast was my least favorite- would not order again -their vanilla late was very very good -the French omelet was good, nothing special though.
