But fries in the burrito was crunchy! And the UBE horchata was bomb.com. Couple tables outside and the parking is limited. So order ahead of time. Their website is super easy to use and order from, and the pick up times have been rather consistent as well. I get very excited when new places pop up too. The fam and I have been ordering the following the most often - Burritos from Senor Sisig - So good and wrapped/labeled properly. Downside is that the spiciest levels aren't usually spicy. Once a while there would be more jalapeno bits in there, but most of the time the spicy or extra spicy aren't spicy. I forget if the actual Senor Sisig comes with hot sauce or salsa, but it'll be nice if this came with a side of salsa. Various Chicken Dishes from Proposition Chicken - the kids really enjoy the chicken tenders! Their fried chicken entree is pretty good too. Ice Cream - Tried it once, and the pint of ice cream I got was really good. Pricey for a pint, but the brand is pricey itself. Burger from The Melt - comes with a side of pickle. I am LOVING this new addition to Lafayette! Local Kitchens is a "ghost kitchen" offering up a variety of different eateries all under one roof. All orders are taken electronically either online or at their digital ordering kiosk in their shop. I'm totally digging this concept and I'm a big fan of the variety and convenience. I've been here twice so far and have gotten food from Glaze Teriyaki, Curry Up Now, and ice cream from Humpry Slocombe. First off, can we get a round of applause for that variety though?! Local Kitchens currently offers food from Glaze Teriyaki, Mixt, Proposition Chicken, Wise Sons Italian Deli, Curry Up Now, Senor Sisig, Humphry Slocombe, Peerless Coffee, and they just added Oren's Hummus! Like, whaaaat? So many different amazing options to choose from. I'm on a mission to try them all, and I have feeling that it'll happen a lot sooner than later. The concept is strictly to-go, but they do have a few tables out front where you can enjoy your meal if you feel like eating it there. Their website is user friendly and I found it very easy to order my food. I've also used their kiosk inside to order, and this too was fast and simple. Love that they have hand sanitizers at all of the stations making this a very COVID friendly affair. They also have two long benches where you can sit inside while you're waiting for your food. They have a small parking lot on the side of the building, but there's also a pretty good amount of street parking too. I've ordered the hanger steak teriyaki from Glaze and the ghee makhni butter bowl from Curry Up Now, and both dishes were absolutely delicious! Portions are ample and everything comes nicely packaged and beautifully presented. I love Humphry Slocombe and I'm so excited that I'm able to load up on their yummy pints of ice cream. If you're ordering ice cream, they will place it in an insulated bag so that it'll keep it from melting. They have a large screen that'll display your name and order progress so that you can keep track of what your order is ready. Also, have you seen their hours?! They're open late which is something that you don't normally find in this part of town. Service is excellent! There's always someone there near the entrance who greets you and offers up assistance if it's needed. I'm SO impressed with Local Kitchens! It's truly an honor to have something like this in the neighborhood now. They will definitely be seeing a lot more orders from me! WOW, another ghost kitchen type of design concept! I have been totally loving these since quarantine and you get all your favorites all in one location! how cool is that? Not to mention I haven't tried some of these spots so it was super nice to try humphrys ice cream and proposition chicken! Square Pie Guys | Mean Green Machine - white sauce, italian sausage, roasted broccoli, chile flake, mike's hot honey. I love Detroit style pizza and SPG nails it. This was phenomenal, every bite was the perfect mix of crunchiness, chewiness and cheesy goodness! Sushirrito | Latin Ninja - salmon poke, plantain chips, lettuce, bubu, wasabi aioli and citrus ponzu with avocado spread, sushi rice, and Sushirrito nori. Superb, as always. It was really easy ordering online through the website and customizing our orders was really easy. I think a lot of people ordered prior to going there but there were picnic tables our front and plenty of parking on the street and in the parking lot after work time around 530/600pm. I ended up ordering a Senor sisig burrito, chicken, with adobo rice, beans, and cilantro spice, spicy and a paneer burrito. The paneer burrito is much better eaten as a burrito than trying use a fork and eating it like a bowl. Then it said it would take about 20 minutes for the order to be ready and it was a lot faster than what was projected. Lots of people easily came in and picked up. They had a TV screen that had the names of the orders ready and I was greeted by friendly workers with a smile. I enjoyed the variety of food available at this restaurant. I really enjoyed the fried chicken at Proposition Chicken from this cloud kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised at the crunch and spot on flavors. I wouldn't say the chicken is breaded, it's almost more like a tempura and is crunchy all the way through to the meat, not chewy at all. The platter comes with 3 pieces of chicken (2 dark meat - leg and thigh-and 1 white meat - small breast), a side cucumber salad, and a sweet biscuit. I found the chicken to be slightly dry but I really didn't notice or care because the crust was so good. I also tried the rotisserie chicken from Proposition Chicken but I'd go for the fried over the rotisserie any day. I found the rotisserie to be less flavorful and a little more dry. The cucumber salad is good- fresh and refreshing. It's nice and light with a vinegary dressing and plenty of flavor. The sweet biscuit was too sweet for me, it was like cake, I prefer cornbread or a savory biscuit. The online ordering was easy and they offer $10 off for new users. Good deal!! My only complaint about the online ordering is the lack of ability to make modifications. I'd love to see an option for breast meat only on the chicken (at an up-charge of course) and the ability to share dietary restrictions. I was also unable to locate ANY nutritional information which was a bummer for me. I also would have asked to skip the biscuit since I knew I wouldn't eat it, rather than waste it. The first time we went there we got Square Pie Guys (the big von) and it was good. Also got a side of hummus from Oren's hummus, which we liked. We've been to their palo alto location a few times. Nice we didn't have to drive to Oakland or Palo Alto to get these items. The presentation and taste of Square Pie Guys was what you would expect if you went to their store in Oakland. Good to see that. Consistency is the key to a good establishment. The second time we went I got a bacon cheeseburger from The Melt and some fries, and the wife got Square Pie Guys again. I thought the burger was tasty and had plenty of bacon and the fries were well seasoned. The wife enjoyed her pizza, although I'm not a fan of the mushroom pizza. I thought it was not as flavorful as the big von but that's just me. I'm a meat lover pizza kind of guy. They don't have indoor seating but have several outdoor picnic tables. Also no restroom. You can order online and when you walk in there is a large TV screen that shows when your order will be ready. As you can imagine, lots of pick up from Doordash/Uber eats We love being able to try different things from different restaurants. I had used Local Kitchens more than a few tines, and it's always quick, and reliable. It is either pick up at the Lafayette hub, or being delivered to my work. It has Proposition Chicken, Senior Sigsig, and recently added Homeroom and Milkbar desserts. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. I always pick up Mango lassie or Hortchata Ube from their mini fridge if I happen to stop by. Ultimately, I will probably use this place for delivery because they have Homeroom Jalapeno Mac and Melt burgers and with the Crack Pie from Milk bar for dessert. We've tried all types, but have often found getting to events that host multiple trucks is sometimes hard. This is what I thought was cool about local kitchens. Two food trucks we hadn't tried as well as several other offerings we hadn't heard of before, all under one roof. A one stop shop for all preferences. My husband is a meat eater, I am a vegan, and my kids are, well, they are picky. Local kitchens had something for each of us. They also have gluten free options on some menus. Order was super easy. I used the website and pre-ordered which was great. I placed my order right after breakfast and selected my pickup time for just before noon. The menus are all clear and once you select an item, many have options to customize (i.e. extra cheese, no guacamole, spice vs mild, etc). This was PERFECT since I was also ordering for my two preteens whose taste buds often don't appreciate fantastic food. If you don't want to pre-order, there are iPads in the entry where you can place an order. Prices seem very fair, especially for the amount of food we ended up with (and new customers get $10 off). The location was easy to find with a little parking lot and street parking (meters on the street). East to get in and out. There are a few picnic tables outside, but I would say more of a grab and go place (would be perfect for picking up lunch on the way to a hike). Inside was clean and very nicely decorated. There are little numbered cubes that I suspect orders can be placed in, but mine was next to the counter when I came. There is a digital screen on the wall with your name and says if your order is "ready," "finishing" (mine), or the number of minutes left for your order. So easy to know if you should stick around or run an errand or whatever you may want to do while you wait. My order was ready less than 5 minutes after I arrived (I arrived at the very beginning of my pickup window). We ordered form Curry Up Now (hella Vegan Burrito, samosas, and Vada Pav), Proposition Chicken (fried chicken sandwich), and Senor Sisig (Cali burrito). Everything was really good. The hella Vegan Burrito was huge. I felt like it needed some creaminess, so I added some plant based yogurt and home and it was perfect. The samosas are a little spicey if you are sensitive to spice. My husband loved his fried chicken sandwich. Crispy with just a little spiciness. He said it was perfect. Both my kids thought the Cali burrito was the best. I opted for the Flipped Chicken Salad ($11.95), which actually ended up being pretty good! I'm not a huge fan of kale or mint, but it added a different texture and element to the salad. Another thing that impressed me was the friendliness of the staff! They were super nice and even gave me some ice cream sandwiches to try. In addition, I wanted to walk around the neighborhood a bit, and they allowed me to hold my ice cream in their freezer for a little while too. Super accommodating, so I really appreciated that. If you have a dog, they're dog friendly :3 they have 3 tables outside if you decide to eat there. Pretty tiny, almost drove past it. I was looking for Sushirrito which is within this place. In fact this place is able to make several foods from other popular places. The parking lot it limited and one way. There is outdoor dining, but no indoor dining. You can either use an app to place orders ahead of time or use their touch screen to select your food and tap for credit or wireless pay. Overall, it's pretty easy and pretty good. I feel like when I had the sisig from the original food truck, it tasted more flavorful. Also, I don't remember if their burritos always came with lettuce but next time I'll probably do without it. I got the loaded fries with the tocino as protein. I'll probably pass on the tocino, it was a little too sweet for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Filipino breakfast with tocino but the flavor with the fries didn't jive. I did appreciate how seasoned the fries were and sauces were in individual containers to prevent the fries from getting soggy. The ube horchata was really good. Think of this place like it's a food court, but order all in one spot. It was easy, convenient and delicious that I will definitely be back. I ordered 2 burritos from Senor Sisig with the expectation of it taking 20 minutes. I decided to go early to take some pics and watch my status on the order screen. But As I walked in the guy asked for my name and said my order was ready! I liked the convenience of the screen to see how the status of the order, who ordered and how they even ordered through a food app with the different cubbies as well. Food warmers are what got me because I appreciate that my food will stay warm as it waits for pick up. First you order from the kiosk(which the introvert in me loves) or from your phone then your name and number will pop up on the big screen with an estimate wait time. Self order, no where to sit and eat inside, but picnic tables outside, little parking. I think they can do something about hiding all the boxes or kitchen a bit, kind of a exposed storage. Food was fairly quick after order. Prices are very elevated for what you actually get. The falafel balls are tiny. If you get soup with noodles, the amount of noodles you get are next to nothing, you'd get more noodles from cup o noodles, than what you get here. Found this place on accident and it happened to be the coolest concept I've never seen before! If you're like me and crave different varieties of food, this place is for you. I was trying to find The Melt and was so confused if I got the wrong address. It turns out, Local Kitchens offers a big variety of different restaurants under the same kitchen. They offer Curry Up Now, Señor Sisig, The Melt, and more! Ordering from the kiosk was super easy and efficient. I was able to order different items from two different restaurants. I got the Sisig Fries from Señor Sisig to share with my brother, and a Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup from The Melt. I was in heaven. The food was sooo good! I was so amazed how I was able to order them all at once. One of the workers I was talking to, I believe her name was Angela, was super sweet. I'm very glad I stopped by yesterday. I'm hoping they open more locations in the San Mateo County because this is seriously one of the coolest places I've eaten at in the Bay Area. read more
