Very busy and casual establishment great for the local area. The patio is good for pets and the staff are very friendly. Wifey and I brought out furbaby and had lunch. I ordered the local burger with onion rings and some buffalo wings. Wifey ordered a chicken sandwich with lettuce to Replace the buns. Definitely will try to frequent this establishment more often with doggo! My burger was delicious it had two patties with cheese(lettuce & tomatoes) soft burger buns, and the wings were cooked/sauced perfectly well. Very decent quality pub food. The onion rings were perfect! Not enough dipping sauce though.. but I didn't try asking for more which you most likely could.

Came for Wednesday trivia night with a group of friends (total 6 people per trivia group) that starts at 7pm. Questions were fun and fairly easy except for the music round, which are worth double the points. I ordered the tuna poke bowl and it was fresh, balanced, good portion, and tasty. At $24 it's average but it's on the regular Happy Hour and Late Night Happy Hour menu for around $22. Finally a late night spot in River District to watch a game, drinks, and decent food. Now if only there was a late night cafe with great pastries and drinks in the neighbourhood too.

My first time at this place and I have to say, it is huge. There's a bottom and top section. The vibe inside is chill and service is friendly. Great for couples as well as big groups. They have a choice of appetizers, mains, and desserts. We chose the shrimp dumplings to share which was pretty good. The fish and chips had a big fish and bountiful fries. One of the best dessert here is the peanut butter and chocolate cup!

    A horrible pour

Well that was disappointing. With that many 5-star reviews it's not unreasonable to expect an above average experience. Seated quickly, and the Gf's hot water and lemon was there promptly. 10 minutes later I'm still looking for the waitress and my beer which was never rung in. Reminder her my order, and the travesty in the picture arrived. I walk it back to the bar myself as I don't have all night and Im thirsty. Change my order to another beer as there obviously something off on this keg. Not a great start Ask waitress for food recommendations and go with her two favourites... fish tacos and some peanut Thai chicken noodle salad thing. Fish tacos average at best, fries are dry and overdone. Being as small as they are, probably not hard to overcook. Noodle salad was "ok". Dry chicken, nice peanut sauce and a 1.30$ worth of instant noodles....Asian GF is rolling her eyes at a 23$ entre. Safe to say I won't be back. But hey, great soft serve ice cream half a block away!!

We came here for our friend's birthday celebration. It's a pretty popular place for groups and gatherings. They say that they are able to accommodate large groups. However, when we got there, we were told that the tables are not ready, and they might not able to accompany our group, which is around 16 people. We waited 15 minutes at the door for them to put the tables together. We had a baby in our group, and they were able to accompany the baby with the baby seat, which was nice. The waitress is friendly and professional, the menu is very intensive, has lots of options for drinks and food. Although I do find that they were under staffed, as we had to wait for a long time every time when we try to wave down someone. We ordered some nachos, fry chicken ramen, LPE greens Salad with chicken. I ordered a spicy guava margarita which was pretty good, and has kick to it. The nachos' portion was on the smaller side, lots of toppings especially jalapeños, which was super spicy. I was disappointed with the ramen. The fried chicken was okay, but the ramen was already cold when it got to the table. It seems to be sitting outside for a long time. I had to send it back because it was not acceptable. Who would enjoy a cold bowl of ramen? At least the derive was good, and they brought back a new bowl, which was a lot nicer, Overall the experience was good. Our group had a good time celebrating with our friend, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Caught up with friends over brunch. The restaurant was busy and it was quite noisy with the football game on TV. So, it was hard to have a conversation. We ordered the Braised Beef and Bacon Hash. The flavours were really good, however, the braised beef (kind like pulled pork but is beef) was very burnt and all black on the underside so we tried to leave the burnt part out as a result there was a lot of wastage. It seems like someone left the beef heating on the stove and forgot about it. Ambiance - 4 stars Service - 4 stars Food - 3 stars

Last time, I was at Local was back in Toronto near my office. This is a new location in Vancouver that offers food. The Kitsilano location only offers drinks. In comparison to the Toronto location, this location has less food options and on top the happy hour menu option is very limited. None the less, the service and food here are great. I did find the portion size being a lot smaller than the Toronto location. I got the blacken chicken burger with salad. The salad was super delicious and so was the chicken burger. The chicken meat was very tasty. The place is not as busy as the Toronto location. I like the high ceiling which is great when dining in on a hot day. The breeze was great. Food portion size is somewhat small. The decor is nice. There are plenty of free parking on site. I will definitely be back.

Yay! This place has finally opened after I learnt of its impending opening last year at a local event. I live nearby and received a flyer for 20% discount so that residents in the area can check this place out. I came here with a few friends and the table got the discount too. Double yay! This is a good addition to the river district area as there are not many eateries here, not to say a pub. I like this place as it has high ceilings and doors which open to the patio allowing airflow and breeze to circulate inside. Lots of alcohol options here. I found out iced tea (non alcoholic, there's also alcoholic version)) is refillable here. Wow! I decided to get the truffle cheeseburger and added a fried egg. I requested for semi-soft yolk but it came pretty cooked so that was disappointing. I also subbed the fries for onion rings and they were good, similar to A&W version. The food menu is not very good and burgers and sandwiches seem to be the specialties. The happy hour food option is sad with only 3 items. Service is great. Staff are friendly and attentive. I'm happy to have a new food place in the area. Parking is available on the street or the underground.

Looks like there's finally an alternative to Romer's in the River District area. Parking is available on the side streets. The place is basically brand new as of the time of writing. The main area is a large sports bar counter, and there is a mezzanine dining area upstairs. There is also a long thin patio along the S side of the building. Staff are friendly and professional. Think Earls or Cactus club. Local fried chicken - nice crisp batter. Friends and I tried the dragon glaze with peanuts and scallions. Added just the right amount of tanginess. Quite tasty. Truffle cheeseburger - pretty decent burger. I got the onion ring upgrade. The portion size was smaller than expected. Half the plate was empty. Could've used a bit more food. See photo. Beer selection here is mediocre. There is some craft and some domestic stuff. Hopefully this increases in the future. As of the time of writing, Romer's has a much better selection. Also the beer price here is pretty steep, at $11 a pint. Yikes. Wouldn't mind coming back here at some point.

What a great spot - I can envision sipping cocktails in the summer with the doors open, or inside in winter - very nicely done up by someone with an eye. The tour exceeded our expectations and took us into 2 other spaces not normally accessible including a cask room in the back that can be booked for small to medium sized groups. Our guide was the owner and we are curious science minded people so it was a great match. Jan is an excellent teacher and story-teller. The tasting really educated me but let's not mince words,.. it was also tasty! The final phase of the tour is to show you how to mix gins into cocktails with a little hands on mixology tutorial with batertender Ky. All told several samples, and cocktails were included - all amazing. All of the staff were great. It was just a really enjoyable afternoon and worth of a rare 5 stars! I think this place is a must stop for a day adventure from Vancouver to the Shipyards area. It should also be noted that these guys aren't kidding around: national and international spirit awards across the board with some really quality innovative (but not gimmicky) products here.

They had one high top table outside that we took. Sunday is pizza night and all the pizzas were $17.95. The FIFA game was on both inside and on the patio. For dinner we shared a diavola pizza and smoked salmon parpadelle. The pizza was good but the crust was soggy. The salmon parpadelle was good but I think it would have been better with another pasta - spaghetti, linguine or fettucine as the pasta could not be twirled with a fork and spoon and had to be cut up. The service was excellent. When our server Malaka heard that we were coming in from Abbotsford she said that she would give us the "best seat in the restaurant". When we opted to sit on the patio she gave us a complimentary tiramisu as a thank you. It was such a kind gesture. It was a nice relaxing evening and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

I have seen a lot of good reviews about this place and convinced our party of 8 to come try it…read moresince it's in our neighborhood and we have been looking for a new local Greek restaurant since Panos on Marine Drive closed down. Sadly, we were sooooo disappointed! We came on a Saturday evening at peak time, around 6:30pm, so granted, we expected it to be busy. We were sat nearly right away in comfortable booths with tables. The waitress brought us menus and water. So far so good! We ordered our food, nothing crazy, several got the special of the night, lamb souvlaki with potatoes rice and pita. A couple ordered the seafood pasta, one asked for red sauce instead of cream sauce and two asked for veggie lasagna's but they only had one order available. When we asked about the beers on menu, we were told each one was unavailable except for Heineken and the seasonal beer. When we asked what it was, she didn't know. She then brought the can of beer over and said she wasn't sure what type it was. Fair enough! She was young, seemed new and not quite trained with alcohol so no big deal. It gave us a giggle. It was a Granville Island radler btw. I ordered a Heineken and my friend ordered the yummy sounding spicy passionfruit margarita. My beer came fairly quick but no margarita. Then the young waitress came out to say that our food would take a bit longer to come out since they were a bit slammed with orders and asked if we wanted any appetizers. We decided we'd be ok, and decided to wait. One hour later!!!!! I'm not joking, one hour later, the margarita drink came out. Again, we noticed very young and probably newly hired staff attempting to make drinks. When this $19 drink came out, it looked like the rim of salt was touched with fingers and a lot of it was missing. However, my friend desperate for a drink or morsel of anything, decided to just have it as it came. She said it was delicious and the best thing she had. One hour and a half later!!! Our food came out. My medium rare lamb was cooked through and the pasta with red sauce came out with a cream sauce, but there was NO way we were going to send anything back as we were pretty hangry at this point. The potatoes were delicious, the rice extremely plain. All 8 of us agreed that for the price, service and quality of food, we would not be returning, although my friend said if the passionfruit drink was on the happy hour menu, she would consider it. All in all, very disappointed.

The wait staff who served us ended up being the bartender and my drink was made to my liking. A definite 5/5. I was excited to see Taramosalata and grilled octopus on the menu ordered them. The taramosalata tasted amazing! Tasty, perfectly salted and light 5/5! The grilled octopus came as 2 super skinny legs: 1 leg was a bit too charcoaled and the other one was OK. I cut and dip it into the olive oil and vinegar sauce it came with, and that made it much better 3/5. We also ordered the Loukaniko sausage, which came piping hot. It tasted better with the mustard 3/5. Finally, we ordered their special for the evening, the lamb sirloin souvlaki dinner. This dish came with roasted potatoes, rice pilaf and pita bread. The roasted potatoes were delicious; the lamb souvlaki (med rare) was tender; the rice was a bit bland; and the extra pita was helpful to finish my taramosalata. The servers were very attentive as well. Unfortunately, something I had didn't agree with me at all! That is why I had to give this a 3/5.

Didn't taste very fresh and the orange vinaigrette sauce didn't do anything to help it. The jasmine rice balls were an interesting touch. Wouldn't recommend Shishitos and cauliflower ($14) - the cauliflower florets were nice but the shishitos were lacking that snap you get (it was a bit soggy). Wouldn't recommend Steamed Bao bun with butter prawn masala ($21) - this was one of the highlights of the night. The butter masala went so well with the Bao bun and it soaked up that sauce perfectly. Loved the snap from the shrimp but wish there was more of it dispersed throughout the dish. Definitely get this dish Crab satay ($19) - this dish was weird... The crab was misled by the flavour of the peanut sauce and it just didn't work well together as a dish. Each component was fine on its own but nothing worked together. The cabbage salad felt like just an afterthough. Would not recommend. Sweet and sour pork belly ($16) - this dish was also interesting - it felt more like just a crispy pork belly. That's it. The sweet and sour sauce felt non- existent. There needed to be another punch in this dish to make it more complete. Wouldn't recommend Sea bass ($37) - this dish was great. Loved the texture of the sea bass. The potato gnocchi was a nice touch and that Goan curry sauce went really well with everything. Wouldn't order again Beef Kad Pra kao ($29) - this was another miss. The beef wasnt chewy but it lacked flavour. It needed more basil in it to bring out the flavour. Nothing about this dish impressed. Wouldn't order again Dubai chocolate bar ($17) - absolutely delicious. Loved the crispness of the chocolate crumb offset by the softness of the dense pistachio creme and the chocolate ganache. The little bits of the rose petals gave it that essence that it needed. It wasn't overly sweet. Would get this again Overall quite a few missed and some great dishes. The serving sizes are appropriate for the price. The service was great and not overbearing. Definitely try the steamed bun, the sea bass and the Dubai chocolate bar. My biggest issue with the dishes were that the garnished were almost the same for every dish. I understand it's for the pop of colour but it was so repetitive and didn't add any value to the fish other than the pop of colour (the green shoots and the red radish). I had the spiced Guatemalan carajillo it was pretty smooth and not too sweet. I would want to try their other drinks as they have quite an extensive menu.
