I'm so disappointed that I didn't find this place sooner in little Historic Lawrenceville. Finally a very good and unique restaurant that I do not have to travel 30 minutes into Atlanta to enjoy. We went here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. I didn't have an issue with parking, but the lot is very small. The restaurant itself is also very small. Only about 7 tables on the inside and six tables on the patio. As we walked in we were kindly greeted immediately and were told to choose where we wanted to sit. We opted for the patio since it was such a beautiful day! Quickly glancing at the menu they have a decent selection of beers and wine. They only serve beer and wine here, so no cocktails for you! I am not a beer drinker, but I was excited to see they had a good selection of lambic ales! For all you real beer drinkers out there they have a good selection of IPA's as well. For food I ordered the Southpaw burger which had bacon, blue cheese and american cheese on it. I also substituted the side of potato chips with bacon Mac & cheese. All of their burgers and sandwiches are served with a side of chips, so don't expect to get fries here. You can substitute the chips for another side for an extra $1.50. My burger was so delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly including the bacon! The bacon Mac & cheese was pretty good. Not the best Mac & Cheese I've ever had, but it was good. My husband ordered the Mr. Jones burger which had pimento cheese, jalapenos and bacon. I actually liked his better, but my burger was still really good. My friend ordered the famous Sink burger. Last time we ate at LR it was in a converted gas station across the street. Now it's a nice place with a patio and umbrellas. We were seated immediately on a Friday evening - an amazing feat. We all had adult beverages. They have a nice selection of local craft beers. I had the chicken. It was airline style - the breast with a little drumette attached. It came with asparagus and celery root. Celery root has the consistency of mashed potatoes but a quarter of the carb grams. My wife had shrimp and grits and she liked it. We don't live near here any more, but if we did we'd come here more often. There's a nice view of the Lawrenceville Courthouse where Larry Flynt was shot. read more

This place is located in downtown Lawrenceville in one of the old original buildings. The decor is sort of rustic industrial with exposed brick and a hipster vibe. They're known for their burgers and craft beers. We arrived at 7:30pm on a Saturday and were told it was a 30 minute wait. After about 40 minutes we were seated upstairs near the bar. Our waiter came over pretty promptly with glasses of water to greet us. That was the last prompt service we received. Our appetizers (fried green tomatoes/$9 and Korean style chicken nuggets with Brussels & red pepper slaw) took over 20 minutes to come out. Both dishes were very good, awesome flavors. The tomatoes were cut very thick but it worked and they were served relatively hot, temperature wise. Unfortunately again for us that was the ONLY item that came out more than lukewarm. My husband went with the classic burger & fries Republic/$11 and a craft beer. I had the chicken/$18 It came with gnocchi and broccolini and I added bacon Mac n' cheese/$4. The entrees took another 15-20 minutes to arrive. My husband really enjoyed the taste of his burger & fries and said it would have been top notch if served hot. I on the other hand did not enjoy my meal. The chicken meal was pretty bland overall and I was not a fan of the salted bourbon reduction. Bad choice on my part. Not even sure it would have been better hot. We didn't dare order dessert or bother to send the barely warm food back. My husband and I are divided on whether or not to give them another chance. Perfect date night! Our server, Lee, was very attentive but didn't rush us. We had a cozy corner table and had time to chat while eating. We had the rib-eye special and it was perfection. Our surprise favorite of the night was our starter! If you like things a bit spicy please try the GAMBAS AL AJILLO. Those tasty shrimp swimming around in the slightly spicy garlic, sherry broth are amazingly delicious on the fresh baguette they are served with. The restaurant is almost always busy. Even on this Friday afternoon at 2 PM, there were spurts of people in and out of this place. If you're wanting to come here on a Friday or Saturday evening, plan accordingly because the wait time during dinner hours was an hour to a half. Waning to try some craft beer? The beer menu hangs off the wall somewhat in front of the bar and above the host's station. There is a daily special menu which also hangs somewhere in the restaurant as well. For nonalcoholic drinks, the orange cream soda was pretty good. It tasted just like the ice cream as my friend pointed out. He had the cherry version. It wasn't as flavorful as Cheerwine (i.e. cherry flavored soda) but pretty good nonetheless. The pimento cheese as the appetizer was pretty good. The baked mac and cheese with bacon was creamy and delish. A tad on the more calorie side, but it a must have side item -- recommended by the waitress. The shrimp and grits was a disappoint. My friend said this would be rated as a 2.5 or 3 out of a 5 scale. I feel like the shrimp could have been cooked more thoroughly. The sausage was okay. The grits were very plain if you don't eat it with anything. Overall, I think each ingredient was randomly thrown in without it meshing well with one another. Yeah. I was sad since this was my first time trying such an item. A redo moment is much needed. Parking was available right behind the building. There are also parking around the square if there's any. Do I love this menu? YES My kind of place. Gastropub type feel all over this place. Small outdoor patio, hip staff, microbrew menu, etc However I can't send a 4 star rating no matter how much it hurts me. Food quality is very high and options are very cool. Service and staff was on point. BUT.....our app took forever, the Mac and Cheese was cold DAMN IT!!! But let me tell you, the Pimento Cheese Grits might be my favorite grits that I have ever had. Yes EVER! I like the Zucchini Fritter and aioli. Also, my Fried Green Tomato BLT was good. Maybe tomato was sliced too thick but solid sandwich. Very solid. The rest of the food I saw hit tables was impressive looking. The Bomb Dot Com kind of stuff. We told them about the Mac and Cheese being cold and they took that and our app off the bill. Apprec! It's dark inside with a lot of exposed brick and I would say the ambience was intimate. I had a fried green tomato sandwich and although a new taste for me, I thought the tomato was a bit underdone. The crust was super light and so fell off and the tomato was a little tough? For my side I upgraded to the bacon Mac and cheese and it didn't stand out from others I'd had. Service was on point, and I love the cozy ambiance and charm here. The food was also on par, which is the most important. Their fries were really good, and they came with 3 different sauces you can choose, and they have a huge variety of sauces to choose from. Their chipotle sauce is seriously one of the best I've ever had. It was amazing! They give you a ton of fries, so if you get the side of them, you only really need one for the table. As a condiment queen, I am all about the sauces, so that was a huge perk to see. I also got a really good chicken sandwich with fries in it, and my boyfriend really enjoyed his burger. Excellent and good Southern cooking. First time dinning here with colleagues and friends from GA. The food was so good and the large portions were very impressive. Since we had a big dinner meeting, we had the upstairs area reserved for our party. The Staff was so helpful and courteous. They got all appetizers and main entrees out on time and while hot. I was impressed by how well everyone worked as team there and had fun doing it. It certainly shows when you have great staff. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Lots of wood decor which makes for a nice and homely feeling. There are two floors to this restaurant which is great. Parking can be a pain but there is a parking garage as well nearby. Man, oh man do I love this place. I came here on a whim. I was having a beer at Universal Joint talking with the Bartender, whose boyfriend was eating there at that very moment. Of course it was Friday, the place was booked out and packed...but that's where "Bar Dining" becomes the most awesome tool for a party of one. One slot left at the upstairs bar! Whew! The space is fantastic - three levels/tiers of dining with a grand staircase. Great flow, great décor, great vibe. You walk straight in and think - "I've got to eat here!" I sat on the top level where the bar's back wall is a beautiful display of bottles and glassware. The bartenders were on their game and handled the crowds who were both drinking and dining, and made it look easy. LR prides itself on a great craft beer selection, craft cocktails and amazing gastropub style food. What I ate: Zucchini Fritter - it's incredible (and enormous) - just order it and you'll thank me later! Cremini Mushroom Burger - a mix of rich creminis and their house burger blend (which has short rib in it too) - with goat cheese and bacon jam - wow! Brussel Slaw - some of the best I've had. Add to that - coffee service, Mexican Coke - little additional things that really add to the experience. Plus the staff are real pros. The new building is great! The food really is great, probably more 3.5 stars, and certainly not cheap for what you get, but it is good. I had the burger and it wasn't your nice juicy burger that I enjoy, but it was good. My assistant had the duck confit grilled cheese and he said it was amazing. Someone else had the Cuban and said it was only good. The Kim was only good, nothing special. Next time I'll get the Sink burger which is full of surprises. This hip restaurant has a solid Americana menu with impressive and well cultivated beer and cocktail options. The environment is really impressive and manages to create an intimate yet fun atmosphere. The service is usually good but can definitely be on the slow side and there's almost always a wait (make a reservation).
