I made reservations here because we were going to see a show at the Bankhead Theater. Made reservations in couple weeks in advanced. The restaurant is beautiful. Upscale and gorgeous. I was looking forward to eating here and treating ourselves for a lovely dinner. I love the lights and the outdoor seating is reminiscent of eateries in Europe. We were greeted and checked in by a host. He walked us to a high top. I was with my 75-year old mom. I asked if we can be seated at a regular table given the height of the table and chairs. "Sorry. This is all we have." (There were other tables. Maybe they were reserved but I would think you'd consider your customer.) My mom said it was fine. My daughter had to help her up the bar stool. But whatevs. They had a few cocktails to choose from -- all sounded delish! Hard to decide. I decided on the Furore because it sounded refreshing. My mom ordered a virgin margarita. The drinks arrived so beautifully prepared. But... my mom's margarita was soooo tart and mine arrived too sweet and tasted like cough syrup. They looked super cute in their glasses. No one checked to see how our drinks were. Sadly I think mine was also made into a virgin drink. The menu is simple. Not a lot of plates to choose from. All dishes all sounded delicious. We ordered: Fiori di Zucca Lasagna Della Mamma Rosa di Branzino The food arrived. I love all the lemons painted on the plates. The portions were not big. The zucchini flowers should've been an appetizer -- not an entree. They were good but that's a small dish for $16. The lasagna isn't your run of the mill oven baked dish with bubbling burnt cheese on the edges of your casserole. It was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing! Definitely could've had more. Wished it was a larger serving for $20. The sea bass was also fabulous! But $24 is a hefty price for a small serving with a handful of greens and cabbage. We were still hungry after sharing 3 dishes that we ordered another entree... Carpaccio di Carne -- I was sadly disappointed that this was not raw beef. It's supposed to be tender, raw beef. I should've read closer. It was thinly sliced Bresaola which is air-dried salted beef which tasted like prosciutto. It was not an entree but more of an appetizer. For dessert we ordered: Mango Panna Cotta Chocolate hazelnut layered cake (can't remember the name) Both desserts were mediocre. From where we were sitting, my mom was able to see the kitchen and how they prepared food. The desserts came out of a cardboard box, and the person preparing them would take a slice out of the box, place it on a plate, then drizzled whipped cream from a canister and dolled it up with berries and fancy syrup. Eek! They tasted as such. Not fresh. That's disappointing. Aside from the beautiful restaurant and location, I highly doubt I'd return. Nice decor and outdoor seating aread. Average food, small portions, the $4.95 appetizer bread was a joke (probably should be complimentary based on what we got). Loud in the bar area and the bathroom situation wasn't good, lots of waiting and the lock on the door wasn't functional, neat. Our waitress spent most of her time chatting with people at other tables and the bar. Overall, just an average experience, was hoping for better. read more

We came here for Valentine's Day and had a mixed experience. The service was excellent--our server was incredibly warm and welcoming, and it was clear that regulars love coming here. She had a very familial vibe, even hugging some of them, which added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the hospitality. We started with the meatballs, but they lacked flavor, and the sauce was overwhelmingly bitter. My boyfriend's branzino was overcooked to the point of being chalky, and the potatoes tasted like they were frozen. My lasagna seemed to have the same bitter sauce as the meatballs and was quite dry--I couldn't finish it. We really wanted to love this place, and the service made us feel welcome, but the food just wasn't enjoyable. Hope they can work on consistency because the atmosphere and staff were great. read more

We came here last night for the first time. We just had wine, no food, so we definitely want to come back and try the food. The wine was good, service was good, and the inside is super cute. Outside was really cute as well, and once the park construction is done, it'll be perfect! Only thing is there are two bathroom stalls in the whole place so I had to wait a while in the bathroom line. Felt like they should've had at least two stalls in both so that the whole restaurant doesn't rely on two toilets. One of the bathrooms had tape over the drain (and it smelled off) and the sink was super clogged so it was hard to wash your hands without putting your hands in someone else's old water. Feel like a little more attention could've been given here especially being that there are only 2. We will definitely be back. Cute addition to downtown. read more

We enjoyed dinner before an evening talk at the Bankhead. We sat outdoors and were comfortable despite the chilly evening. The pre-dinner cocktails (martinis and limoncello spritz) were classic and generous. For dinner the waiter split the pear salad without being asked and brought two spoons for the soup du jour (clam chowder.) For entrees we enjoyed the Branzino, gnocchi alla piemontese, ravioli di mare and the short rib. Everything was served hot and was delicious. We savored every morsel and left nothing behind. All was enjoyed with bottle of Chianti. Tullio treated us to a decadent tiramisu dessert and yummy vodka shots. Just had dinner here and we were enticed by the atmosphere which was nice. The service was average. My wife had the Sicilian salad which was drenched in salad dressing and I had the gluten free meet lovers pizza. While I understand gluten free pizza if very different than regular pizza but this was not good at all. It wasn't warm, the cheese was barely melted. We stopped by to retrieve an umbrella left by my husband last week when he had lunch with a friend. He said the friend was impressed by the place and the husband liked everything but the calamari, which he pronounced bland and flavorless. When we stopped by on Valentine's Day around 5 pm the joint was hopping, with many happy, celebrating people. Husband wanted to pick up the umbrella and leave, but i said, "Are you crazy? Was very excited to try this place and see the transformation from the old Blue Bar days. They did a nice job with the ambiance and everything on the menu looked delicious. Our server started off attentive and made lots of recommendations. Our drinks were good but the nuts on the espresso martini were just a little too much for our liking. A couple of us had ordered the Cesar salad, we had mixed reviews, enjoyed the anchovies but the dressing didn't seem to have much flavor. Our food ended up being served by someone other than our server as he seemed to be caught talking to someone like a friend for a really long time, after he got caught up we just seemed like we were forgotten about. Food was just okay, nothing tasted spectacular. Recommend the short ribs or lasagna. Nothing was outstanding or gave a wow factor. Wont be rushing back but may visit it again if in the mood. I went here with my 2 friends on labor day, HORRIBLE experience. We were seated fast thats only thing they did good in. We ordered our drinks & asked more time for the menu. While we're looking at the menu, we see employees arguing at bar, visibly arguing there were at least 4 people arguing. They weren't even quiet about it. Super awkward super unprofessional. Then we placed our order for food. We clearly ordered three things, pizza, penne pasta and a chicken dish. Only the chicken dish came out , so we waited about 25 mins and then finally got the attention of our waiter, and asked him where the rest of our food is? He said we didn't order anything but the chicken , and we told him we asked him how big the pizza was and about the pasta serving size and he said yeah i remember but you didn't order it? All three of clearly remember ordering it. Maybe he should have read our order out-loud to us to confirm? Or come check up on us after the chicken dish came out? He gave us attitude after he said he would put in a rush order for the pasta and pizza, pasta was raw , cool . Waiter Didn't even apologize or anything the put his hands together and said thank you for dining here. & no we didnt get a discount or ask for one. We just wanted to get out of there. Let me preface this by saying that the food and ingredients tasted great, and that the kitchen obviously puts love into what they do. That being said, this is definitely a spring or summer kind of place, unless you're able to get seated indoors. We had reservations for a special dinner and when we arrived the FOH staff wasn't prepared for us, or several other parties that had reservations as well. We were relegated to the outdoor area under cover, and were given blankets, and there were six heat lamps, however with the wind and rain it wasn't terribly pleasant. Just a little friendly advice, FOH was friendly but needs to "get it together", or hold off on taking so many reservations. We will be back again to patronize the place in warmer weather! read more

This was my first time here and I can't wait to go back. I had the best Aperol spritz here. I haven't had one this good since I was in Italy- ditto for my caprese salad. The ingredients here are fantastic. I would have trouble picking heirloom tomatoes at Whole Foods that were as good as the beautiful tomatoes in my salad. I love caprese salads and I order them everywhere, but they aren't usually this good. The tomatoes were fantastic, the cheese was absolutely perfect, and the greens were super fresh. Also, it's HUGE- so that was a surprise. It's so big it would be a dinner for me. My friends had the antipasti platter and just loved that. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the early evening. We arrived early to beat the Livermore crowd. As others have pointed out on Yelp, an able-bodied man who looks like the manager was using the handicapped parking space. We happen to have a legit disabled person placard. There are two outside seating areas, one more protected than the other. We sat inside for more warmth. Indoors is not very spacious, but it seems bigger because of the mirrors. There are both low and high tables, as well as bar seating. Music was a little loud for talking. The food was not impressive. Endive salad was adequate. The salmon ravioli dish could have been more generous. The pieces were almost flat, and the dish had an unpleasantly thick sauce. The margherita pinsa (my only pinsa-style pizza experience) had a moderately-risen crust and was decently-sized. However, the crust had little flavor, and I thought it was too crisp. The cheese on the pinsa was quite good, but might be a little excessive for the purist. The pinsa sauce was also quite good. Basil sprigs had little flavor. Gelato was unremarkable. It's mainly an extensive Italian wine bar, but has some local wine. There were a few well-chosen beers. I had a very good Italian pilsner. I think it was on the menu as a 12 oz bottle, but it was actually 330 ml, or 11.2 oz. We had good service from Angelo, and I appreciated not having to ask for a printed receipt. However, he should have alerted us earlier to the bill's extra fee. It came with a 3% "Employee Health and Benefits Surcharge". That's a sleazy way to increase revenue and should have been disclosed on the menu. In summary, a decent place to drink, with some glorified bar food. It has great napkins and the expected pretentious glasses. read more

Huge Disappointment. Two of us went to dinner tonight. After we ordered, it took an hour for our food to arrive and when it finally did, it was absolutely cold. When you're paying over $32 for an entree. you expect it to arrive at least warm. When I told our food server that both entrees (sea bass and seafood ravioli) were cold, he took the entrees and returned 5 minutes later with the same plates (because it was left in the same position from when we took a bite to determine it was cold). So we assume that they had put in the microwave! The seafood, although now was hot, was rubbery and overcooked and chewy. We also ordered a salad that came after the entrees arrived because it was forgotten. It's just so sad to pay $150 for microwaved seafood and non-existent customer service. I understand mistakes can happen, and maybe our food was somehow forgotten, but when it came to their attention, they should've put in the effort to re-make the food. I don't trust what's happening in that kitchen. and it's sad to think the direction to microwave the food might've even come down from management. Do better. read more

Nestled among the steep hillside and the giant granite (just kidding it's totally flat and the granite is a water feature) is a gem of a restaurant. SOLID cocktails (the Fiori) solid entrees (lasagna and grilled chicken salad are my regulars) this place is a great place to take a break. We ordered a salmon ravioli and a pasta dish with aged cheese (don't recall the exact names listed on the menu). The service was excellent as well. We were served by Angelo and he did a phenomenal job ensuring that we were fully taken care of. He was extremely attentive, personable, and helped to make my girlfriend felt special on her birthday. Been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally went (unfortunately on a very warm day). The outdoor patio is appealing and there's nice ambiance. They have seating for couples and larger parties with umbrellas for shade. They even have misting sprinklers(?) for the tables. We sat outside on a couch in the shade and it was OK with the occasional breeze. The waiters were attentive and friendly. The food was fresh and my husband had the pizza, while I had the Seabass - presentation was interesting. (See photo). We also ordered the caprese and Caesar salads. We enjoyed our meals and will likely be back to try other menu items. I do wish there were more pasta options but the food we chose was still good. read more

We came in late on a Sunday (a little too close to closing) and they were so kind and accommodating. The food is gorgeous and delicious. Embarrassingly HORRIBLE service AND food. There are so many awesome restaurants in Livermore. Skip this one.

My husband and I went on a Sunday night and were excited to try this place! Unfortunately the only good thing about it was the drink I had. As a starter, we shared the meatballs (Polpette Della Mamma). They were mushy to the point of falling apart and cold on the inside... It makes me queasy just thinking about it. DO NOT order the meatballs!! That turned out to be a trend as none of the food we received was hot--it seemed like they gave us the end-of-the-night leftovers without warming them up. My fish (Salmone Capri) was ok (considering the low bar set by the meatballs), but I was very disappointed by the small scoop of cold Brussels sprouts and the lump of boiled potatoes that were once again cold and had no seasoning whatsoever. My husband had similar problems with his dish, and his steak was very undercooked and had little to no seasoning (Bistecca Fiorentina). He ordered medium rare, but much of the steak was so rare it was inedible. For $48, that was appalling. The price is high considering the low quality of the food, but even if someone offered it to me for free I would not eat here again. They were clearly trying to rush us out the door (even though we had a reservation)... to the point of not even bothering to cook our food all the way through. We wanted to love this place but the only thing worth getting is a drink. read more
