My family and I have been loyal customers to Loco Moco here in Kunia for as long as I can remember. The ownership has changed frequently during the years, but these new owners seem to have gotten in right! Located by Kunia Walmart and Subway, this location offers amazing local dishes and specialty drinks. Compared to similar businesses, the price here is right and it's time for my review! There is ample parking since it is in the Walmart parking lot and the service here is quick. The lovely Lemin crafts the most refreshing smoothies, boba drinks, teas, and my favorite.... the bubble waffle cone! If you haven't treated yourself to this, it is a MUST TRY! Alongside Lemin is Vicki and Vali who are the frontline workers who will always great you with a warm smile. During peak hours they maybe multi-tasking with phone orders and walk in customers, but they will find time to kindly service you! The seating area is a bit small for bigger parties, but the turnover rate seems quick. The establishment is well kept, clean (I do witness the sanitation of tables), and has AC for those hot Hawaii days. Our ohana usually comes in every week. Whether its personal plates, burgers, refreshing treats, or party pans, Loco Moco has been our designated foodie spot! So.... What to order? I am a very picky eater, but I highly recommend the garlic mahi mahi, teriyaki steaks, BBQ cheeseburger, garlic shrimp, chicken katsu, house salad (ask for their special dressing), and of course mochiko chicken. If you are ordering pans, a small size goes a long way! We have never had issues with the quality of food nor the service. Service is great, but the reason why I had to update this post was because the food isn't hitting like it use too. It's been a while since we visited this place and all the memories I once had of this place sadly just wasn't being fulfilled except for the kind service. The crab puffs weren't as bomb as it use too and the chicken katsu curry left my family slightly disappointed. The salt and pepper pork chops were decent and thankfully the loco moco was good that my son ate all of his food. Maybe it was an off day, but consistency is just so important. Haven't been here for a while. Ordered our usual...BBQ Chicken and Mushroom Chicken and was wondering if new owners, different cook or a recipe change because both tasted different. Can't pinpoint what it is but my husband and I both thought it tasted better before. They still give a LOT of food so that's a good thing! First time at this locos moco it's in a small area right next to Walmart. The place was a little busy when we got there. But there was no line just people waiting for their food. They have a small area on the side for people that want to dine In which we did. The service was fast and we got our food pretty quick so that was good because we were hungry lol. If you're looking for a serious bang for your buck, this is the spot! The portions are huge, even for the "mini" sizes. We tried the garlic mahi mahi, the chicken katsu special (which was only $9 for a regular), and a garlic shrimp mini. Every dish comes with two giant scoops of rice (except the mini), plus a scoop of mac salad. My recommendation: go for the regular sizes and share family-style so you can try more.
