Lola's has great chicken, good portions. Everything is fresh and you can tell they make things in-house --like the dressings etc.

Been wanting to try this place since we arrived in town for business 14 days ago. Menu and reviews sounded good but we just hadn't done it. One of our colleagues was in town so not only did we try Lola's but we tried the delivery service that goes with it, which I will also leave a positive review for. Using their mobile-friendly site on my iPad, we all ordered tenders, sides and drinks. Very easy ordering online for me. The food was delivered by Darling Courier & Delivery which has its own website and will deliver more than just food all sustainably by bicycle around Alameda with appropriate delivery charges to different areas. We happily paid the $10 for delivery to the Hampton Inn by the Oakland Airport and once my order was placed, I received an email with an estimated 45 minute delivery time. The young man called as he approached the hotel and by the time he was at our door, it had been 55 minutes. I think I was completely prepared for a 45-60 minute delivery time so I was happy when he arrived. He was pleasant, informed me about the delivery service website and that I can order directly through them for other restaurants also. Back to the food...Lola's Chicken Shack absolutely delivered on the plump, juicy and tasty chicken tender promise. We all loved the signature tenders and unanimously agreed that the onion rings, fries and mac&cheese was ALL delicious. My fries were still on the crispy warm side upon delivery and that was pretty amazing to me. ;) I'll definitely order again. Will enjoy working my way through their menu! Service was poor. Food -- at least the parts we actually got -- was good. Ordered online and came to pick up. The woman at the front was distracted while doing her job. She was holding her cell phone in one hand and talking on speakerphone to two friends while taking orders and packing to-go bags. She took an order by phone in front of me while her friends were still on speakerphone. As she took down the name of the customer, her friends made fun of his name on speakerphone and could be very clearly heard. I found this highly unprofessional and offensive to whoever the customer was. When my ordered arrived from the kitchen, it had only been partially filled. I overheard her say that, while we had ordered two of everything, the kitchen had only made one of each. After waiting for longer for the food to be made, I watched her try to pack our to-go bags with one hand because she was still holding her phone and talking to her friends with the other. She eventually put the phone down because it was taking forever to pack our food. And she did have the decency to apologize for the wait. But when I got back to our car, I discovered that she had left out two bottles of water we had ordered and one order of chicken. The bright side: The chicken was very good. My daughter enjoyed the Mac and cheese and we ended up with one extra Caesar salad. We requested a refund via the online app we used. I took a short video of her talking on the phone with her friends on speakerphone while packing our order, but don't feel it's appropriate to post publicly. read more

Not gonna lie, came here as an alternative. I've been here once and it was a good impression so I didn't see why I haven't come back since. Very satisfied with a home-y meal. Chicken and waffles sandwich is great, honey mustard kinda made my bottom waffle very soggy, but not gonna lie, that's some good sauce. Tried the flamethrower chicken sandwich because I love me some spice and this definitely had that kick. The chicken wasn't dry at all, but the bread bun was kinda what brought it down. It was just left kinda "fresh" and cold. It was tougher to chew. If it was toasted and had a bit more sauce, lettuce, tomato or something, that would bring it up a notch. I come here for lunch sometimes & love their food. I normally get the Baja Chicken Salad which I've fell in love with. The salad is huge which allows me to eat some for lunch & have a lil snack later on in the day. I've had their chicken tenders & fries before which are also very good! I would recommend eating here for lunch, just parking can be a bit scarce sometimes. read more

+ THE FOOD I had their crispy chicken tenders and they were really filling. The meat was pretty juicy but I thought it was overall really bland and needed more flavoring. The breading contained a lot of different things including sesame seeds to make it extra crispy and add another level of texture. They had a huge selection of sauces, which I suppose is where the chicken tenders are supposed to get their flavor from. Portion sizes are pretty generous here as the chicken tenders are pretty big. Lola's is a staple in Alameda. It was the first place we tried when we moved here and it's the place our friends need to go to when they visit us from the city. The chicken is delicious but the best thing about Lola's is the quality of food you get for the price. Try the salads they always have fresh lettuce. BOMB A$$ CHICKEN TENDERS FOR A GOOD PRICE. I got the 4 piece chicken tenders with the Honey Mustard and Strawberry BBQ sauce. It came out fast, crispy, and tender. Good deal for a good meal. I think the other Yelpers are about right with the food quality and value. The chicken tenders are really good, the sauces are delicious, everything on the menu are well done and reasonably priced. It's a good family atmosphere. What really irks me is that I've placed a phone pick up order many times, and after writing everything down, they never once have it ready when I come in for the food. I live just on the next block so I like to order by phone to save time. Then I'd wait like 15 to 20 minutes before heading over. But I notice that the staff only start making my food after I come in and pay. So I'd have to wait another 15 - 20 min in the store for it. It's ridiculous. The point of calling in is to make sure the food is ready when the customer arrives. Every other dining establishments that allow take out follow this protocol. I've ordered at least 10 times and they always promised to have it ready for me. They lie. Not a single time is the order completed when I arrive. I hope management reads this and train the staff better. Why have a call in/ pick up option if you're only making the food after we pay? Do you not trust the customer to show up? Mac and cheese was bland, there was no flavor in their cheese sauce, I'd have more flavor if I cooked pasta shells and put salt and pepper on it. I have been a fan since hs and always come here with friends. Since the pandemic, I've been ordering on Uber eats instead. I love their chicken and waffle and the pesto chicken sandwich. The classic sandwich is a lil dry for me compared to the pesto. Their Lola mac is also great!! Fries and onion rings are also solid. Dear Andrea, I do respect your braiding skills and cat eyeliners arching all the way up to the eye brows but there are so many other ways to express your concern, anger, discomfort and passive aggression to 2-year-old customers who were playing so peacefully with their non-toxic play dough rather than yelling out loud "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHAT IS THAT!!!" You were lucky these little customers weren't capable of talking back to you and you really should have apologized when you realized the precious shabby window ledge of the restaurant is safely intact from the play dough. You really did embarrass yourself not only in front of these little customers but other people around us in the restaurant. Obviously you didn't know play dough comes in rainbow colors now. I'm also sorry to tell you that the desperate attempts to compensate your poor customer service by being overly nice to other customers around us miserably failed because the awkward atmosphere you caused never went away while we were there. What a shame because Yelp says this restaurant is kid-friendly and it's actually not despite of the free crayons at the cash register. But it seems like they only put skimpy fixings on it like super thin slices of tomato and a couple of almost invisible pieces of lettuce, red onion & cheese, I always ask for extra sauce or else the sandwich is dry but overall a delicious sandwich. We had 2 tenders each of the classic and the signature breading. Each tender was of decent size and we were full after eating two each and the sides. For sides, we had the lola mac and the classic coleslaw. The tenders were juicy and sweet. The signature breading was super crunchy and yummy with the nuts and seeds added in it. The cashier said it was his favorite. The sauces were good; we had the honey bbq and the ranch. They make the sauces from scratch. The mac had bacon in it. Definitely a win for the kids. The coleslaw was crispy and sweet. They also have one of those super cool fountain drink machines where you can create whatever custom soda that you want. My kid and I both loved it and will be back. Came here for the first time this weekend and I'm just upset I hadn't discovered it sooner! I had the 4 tenders (lola's signature breading) with 2 dipping sauces. My gf had the same. The breading was uniquely delicious, crispy and the chicken was juicy. We tried the BBQ sauce, Strawberry BBQ, Chipotle Mayo, and Sweet Chili sauces. Our favs were the Chipotle Mayo and we both agreed that the Sweet Chili was a must get when we go again! Food tastes good but any changes or additions to the food is much to confusing for the staff so do not come here if you have allergies or food intolerances. I asked for no mayo. They then asked if I was sure that I wanted no mayo. I was then given a sandwich smothered in mayo. So far I have received 3 out of 4 sandwiches with mayo after asking for none. read more
