I've been here twice for brunch. I like the 50's style theme. The menu has a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes, and the food is good. The multigrain pancakes I had today were delicious, and my companion enjoyed his wrap, although it was a little messier than you'd expect a wrap to be. Our waitress today was very curt, but the woman who was on coffee-pouring duty was very attentive and friendly. It's a good place to take my niece who is in a wheelchair, since there's a parking lot, a ramp up to the door, and tables you can sit at, instead of just booths. And the prices are right! read more

I wanted to love this place so much because the decor was so cute but it was mediocre. We went on a Sunday morning and we given a booth immediately. Waitress was lovely. I had a chicken skillet, which was their special that day. The chicken tasted like left over chicken and was a mix of dark and white meat. I'm not a fan of dark meat at all so that kind of put me off right away but no big deal. The meat tasting like left over chicken was the biggest issue I had with the skillet. The pancakes were very dry, I always taste pancakes without syrup to see if they even need it, these definitely needed a lot of syrup. My son didn't each much of them and he loves pancakes. Food here is pretty basic, nothing too special but again nothing overly horrid either. Everyone raves about their pancakes, they're bad at least for restaurant pancakes. This is the cutest 50's themed diner around. The owners are very pleasant and inviting, staff are all friendly. Clean, great prices and good food. The Nest is one of my favorites and Huevos rancheros. Their oat meal is something to behold and the pancakes are a must have. Lunch time specials every day. Burgers are super, excellent fries and the best soups. Guess you can say I like everything they have to offer. Fantastic little gem serving up tasty breakfasts- my kind of place!

After about a year of vacancy when Chickie's closed, Lola's took over the place. Though it took a while for them to take down the old Chickie's sign and update it with their new one, it's finally happened. Affiliated with Sunrise in Des Plaines, one of my other area faves, Lola's definitely has the menu offerings to match, and at a good price too. They also have longer hours than Chickie's, which was a breakfast & lunch only place. By being open longer, they attract a dinner crowd and probably will have a better chance of surviving. So why only 3 stars? SERVICE. Seems they can't quite put it together just yet. We've been here a couple times now but it seems they can't get things exactly right. For example, on a Saturday visit around 12:30, we ordered Diet Cokes. My son is type 1 diabetic so we count on it being correct. It was not when my wife tasted it just to be sure. And on the same visit, she ordered a Granola French Toast. What she got was a very tasty French toast but no granola. We were wondering if it was a side dish to sprinkle the granola yourself that she did not receive. Since the waitress conveniently disappeared for most of the meal, we couldn't find out. When she came back at the end, she told us the granola gives the French toast a completely different flavor than what my wife had. When she returned later, the waitress explained the cook was unfamiliar with some of the menu items and forgot to prepare it right. Since he didn't get it exactly right, you'd think she would deduct it or offer an extra to make amends. Not so. The final bill reflected the granola as if it we got what we ordered correctly. Now this was a not-too-busy Saturday, imagine the possibilities for bad service at peak lunch or dinner. Overall, I think they have a good menu and it seems their dishes offer a generous serving with leftovers for later to take home. My kids like the food too. This can be 4 or 5 stars if they only get their service to improve. read more

This place is great! I come here all the time and the food is consistently fresh and yummy. I like that even if there are a lot of people you don't wait very long for a table, management is on top of things and food comes out fast. So went back and just had greek omlette which was great. But I loved their fluffy vanilla pancakes and now that I am gluten free they have no options in that department. Worst breakfast I've ever had. Horrible service and horrible food. I ordered and I'm left from lunch I asked the waiter to remove the onions and somehow they forgot to do that. My has been ordered and let with extra bacon and instead of extra bacon he had extra sausage. The eggs were overcooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle. The only cute thing about this place are the booths. The place was decorated and tacky St. Patrick's Day ornamentsthat added nothing valuable to the interior design. I've been going to Lola's with co workers for over a year and the at first the visits for lunch were perfect but the last couple of months, the service has been ridiculous. They can't seem to get enough good help and the staff that is there are very slow and over worked. The staff also does not know how to maintain a moderate temperature in the place. Every single time we've been in there it has been freezing cold and we have to ask them to make it warmer. I highly doubt that we will be back unless they can hire and maintain a decent wait staff. One suggestion would be to hire a bus boy to help clean up tables and not rely on the overworked staff to handle cleanup and take orders and be on top of their jobs. It's sad that we won't be back since they do have decent food, but I only have an hour for lunch and it takes that long to get someone to take our order, deliver the order and get our check and we are rush to eat to get back in time because of the service. read more

I eat here from time to time and always have a good experience. (mostly order breakfast foods) The food is always good, and you get a good value as far as portion size to cost is concerned. My go to breakfast place lately. Family owned and operated , Lola's prepares really tasty food, served by a friendly wait staff. Try Lola's Swedish pancakes- excellent. My wife likes the nest, a giant pile of eggs hash browns and other tasty ingredients The nest is so huge we take 3/4s home , warm up tortillas and eat for lunch. I rate mostly based off taste and that's where it lost a couple of stars. I had the stuffed french toast with a side of sausage. It was just ok. I love the diner look at this place, not crazy about the waitress service. She was somewhat of a smarty luckily my Puerto Rican feistiness was hibernating or it wouldn't of been pretty.
