Love the pastries. I'm usually greeted in Spanish ( but I am at my retail job too) but as soon as they realize I don't speak much Spanish they switch to English. I don't feel out of place at all. This is a restaurant attached to a grocery store. It is good! There is a lot of street noise. Only 1 single bathroom. Parking lot is kinda crazy but we did go at peak hours. Seems like a requirement to work here is to be rude as f##k. Seriously! I want to like this place because it has a lot of products that other store don't carry. However, the moody employees that are not helpful at all, make it hard for me to want to come back here. My Spanish is not the best, but at least I try and it's almost as if they are making fun of me (or anyone) for not speaking perfect Spanish. Maybe I'm just imagining the rudeness, but i highly doubt it. I've had a few friends that have told me that they've experienced the same rude vibes. Mexican market with a large selection. Good prices on the fruits and vegetables. The store is little tired and run down looking. The people working in the meat/ produce department were very friendly. Stopped into the tiny restaurant and the staff was very unpleasant and not the least bit helpful so I left. I think the meat counter at Rancho Mendoza is much more inviting. read more

I go to Lolas all the time because it's the closest Mexican store to my house but every time I go it's a disappointment. The meat is very pricey and I close the pieces I want but they always give me attitude about it. If the meat they have is too fatty and I don't get many choices I asked them if they have more in the back but they always have an excuse to not bring other meat out till the crap they have sells. Today I picked my meat and when I got home I noticed the butcher gave me a super fatty piece of meat I did not ask him for. So disappointing cuz I spent a lot of money there. read more

REVIEW FOR TAQUERIA: It is very comparable to the other Lola's Taqueria on Petaluma Hill Rd. It's cheap, you get quite a bit for what you pay for and its FAST. However, does it have 5 star food ? Or is the best Taqueria in Sonoma County? I think not. It is decent food for the price you pay. Tonight I was in a hurry and they cranked out an order for 2 for $18 in under 7 mins flat. Way to go guys !!!! I came here based on another Yelpers photo regarding the Super Nachos. They looked pretty darn good from the posted image. When I recieved my order, the nachos were mediocre and far from the other photo I saw on Yelp. It was a huge disappointment. On the bright side, there is a salsa bar available. I've tried the tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and the Chile rellenos. The Chile rellenos are outstanding. The other food wasn't nearly as good. But the coating on the rellenos was light and delicious! And sauce they put over the rellenos is delicious. Hands down, the best rellenos I've tried at restaurants in Santa Rosa area. So now, I always order the Chile rellenos! Two Chile rellenos with refried beans, and rice is $14.99. It's very filling and is good for either lunch or dinner. Because of Covid, I've been calling in my order and picking it up. Lola's please do basic cashiers training. It's embarrassing how I was treated today. I'm not a regular, I was there because I was in the neighborhood. I purchased some bread and some vegetables. the girl didn't even look at me, she was talking to the cashier next to her about nonsense. Extremely unfocused on her job. she asked me to pass the card three times and I said I did ! Look at the screen.. I passed the card 3 times. when I got home I reviewed my receipt and she charged me for 4 breads instead of three and some calabaza I didn't buy. read more

We regularly order the Chiles Rellenos from the Petaluma Hill Road Lola's but their kitchen was closed for cleaning, so off we went to the Dutton Ave. address to pickup dinner to go. Worst chiles rellenos of our lives. I always order them, at every Mexican restaurant, for many years. I have grown my own chiles and made them myself. I have never, ever, had one so leathery, tough and flavorless. They either added flour (a lot of it) to the batter, or stuck a slice of bread in each one to make it bigger. I want to shame them a little. Their value and selection is great, but I was really bothered to see them using massive amounts of big, thick plastic bags for groceries. Plastic has been banned in Sonoma County and California for a long time. I don't know how they get away with it, but even though I always use my own bags, I won't shop there any more, or support any business with such blatant disregard for the environment. I always want to support smaller and independently owned businesses. They have a wonderful taqueria there with the best carnitas around! But please, if you go, bring your own bag. This store does a slammin' business. Always packed. I don't think that using plastic everything in order to save a little money is the issue...and I don't think you should get a "pass" on the environment because you're not a huge chain store. read more

The produce is fresh, the prepared food delicious and the staff always friendly. There are a few products they don't carry, e.g. cottage cheese, because Mexicans don't eat them. I'm updating the previous review with a new experience. On weekends, they have fresh hand made tortillas. I ordered a dozen corn tortillas and a few minutes later, I had hot corn tortillas fresh off the flat top. The tortillas are 200% better than the typical store bought ones in the plastic. They are much thicker, hand made using a tortilla press, and the flavor is outstanding. They're only available on the weekends, but well worth waiting for. read more

I love this place for good Mexican products - a decent creative Tequila selection and even more soo the Grilled Chicken on the weekends. They use special spices and the chickens are 10 bucks each, fall off the bones tender - juicy and delicious. I have been to this store a few times and have been shocked at the stench when I walked in. It is a store that has many interesting products, but the smell makes it hard for me to want to shop there. On a recent visit I noticed that in the produce section the eggplants were literally rotting on the shelves Prices are high, but quality is poor. Lola's started out as a tiny little cramped shop and has morphed into quite a destination. My grandma and family mostly stick to buying the meat here, because when in comes to fresh barbecue-ready cuts, the meat here is so damned tasty. But sometimes, they feel the need to cheat-it-up a bit and get some pre-cooked meat from the other side. They have a decent collection of other things to pick from (pantry items, bread, produce, drinks, magazines, toys, etc), but when grandma says that she wants to make a stop here, we know we're in for good meat-eating later that day. read more

Thanks fellow Yelpers! I would never have thought to get a burrito at Lola's had it not been for the rave reviews I read on here. I wanted to try a new place on Friday (having gone to Las Palmas a little too often lately) and remembered Lola's and what I read on here. The staff were very warm and friendly and the food was great! I ordered a carnitas "super" burrito. It was VERY good- as good, but in different ways, as the carnitas burrito at La Texanita. I normally order my burritos without rice (a habit my husband got me into) and I just forgot to say "sin arroz" this time around. So glad I did because the rice was very flavorful and really added a nice touch to the burrito. The salsa bar has 4 or 5 different types of salsa as well as limes and some other additions. I will definitely be going there again soon! read more

Absolutely love the carnitas here! I'll either buy straight carnitas or get it in a burrito or quesadilla. They also have wonderful fresh made drinks for cheap. The Dutton location gets my thumbs up over the petaluma hill one because they make the quesadilla suizas here better. They put all the ingredients inside the tortilla instead of putting the sourcream, guacamole and pico de gallo on top. read more

All I can say is, When mexican food can be authentic this is the place to stop. I got the #6 which is the 2 taco plate. I chose chicken as my meat garnish. This plate was soooo good, so fresh and full of flavor. The chicken it's self was so tender and then covered with onion, and cilantro. The prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is inside a grocery store, so don't be turned away. I think the reason why the food is so good besides fresh ingredients is that the grocery store is so close. I love mexican food, for all mexican connoisseurs out there, Lola's is a must stop by. read more

This place is great for burritos. The restaurant part is on the side of the market and it's a standard counter service. It actually looks like some supermarkets' deli counters with all their other prepared food there. The super burrito I got was $7.00. It came with a bag of chips and 3 different salsas. The portions here are bigger and I think tastier the the other Lola's on Petaluma Hill Road.There burritos are huge and after I done I just stroll over to the market side to pick up the best Mexican bread in town to eat later. We were visiting the Sonoma area when we came across Lola's Market on Dutton Avenue. So we decided to check it out. Wow... they have a great selection of imported veggies and fruits that I've never seen before. We tried a few, of course. The store looks clean and the bakery has a lot taste pastries. This review is primarily for the restraunt,, although yesterday we ate and shopped. Lola's is a excellent place to get a well priced huge burrito. for 5.70 my husband got the Carnitas regular... It was jinormous and delicious. I took a bite myself. Tons of meat , just the right amount of rice and beans and a wonderful salsa. Daughter and I shared a super Nacho plate with sour cream and guacamole on the side. MMM delish and it was enourmous. Huge plate piled high with beans, prob almost 1/2 pound of carnitas and cheese... So huge, we were stuffed only half way though so we took home the rest for dinner. Imagine 4 meals out of one plate... that works out to less than 2 bucks a meal. The chips are great and they have a nice little salsa bar with 3 kinds of salsa... They have changed the place a bit,, moved the deli out of the main market and put it in the cafe. The flavors and freshness are excellent as well as the great prices. We shopped a bit in the market,, they have great deals on vegies here... no organic, but you can tell its fresh and always well stocked.
