Another boba study spot in the Westwood has opened up! What used to be Open Oven is now a Lollicup down Westwood Ave that just opened up recently. This place is a nice extra option in Westwood to study with free Wifi over boba. While it is similar to Koala Tea, it does have more of a selection of snacks such as popcorn chicken. On the hot Monday I came, I got an Almond Smoothie. It was on point with the cook of the boba, though I should have gotten it a little less sweet (Forgot to adjust it when I ordered). Overall they have a pretty extensive menu of drinks, though they are on the pricier end for boba; with boba most of the drinks are about $4-5. They don't seem to have late hours to study here like other places. If their wifi is stable however, unlike Koala Tea's, I think this would definitely be a spot worth it to drop a little extra money to sit and study in over boba and snacks.

Solid drinks if you're around campus craving for that boba fix. I usually ignore Lollicup when I'm in the OC, but have visited the Ackerman location in LA whenever I'm too lazy to walk to Westwood or am sick of Rende's drinks. I have been to this location a few times. The first few times I visited was when it just opened, the service was really slow and my order would be wrong almost 100% of the time. Of course they would remake the drink for me, but I would always feel really bad since they look really busy. This time around (about a year after they have opened) I ordered the honey milk tea with 50% sweetness and less ice. Let me tell you, I usually think Lollicup is just okay... BUT I LOVE THIS DRINK SO MUCH. For some reason it was on the thicker/creamier side which I really like and you could taste the tea in the milk tea! It was soooo good. HOWEVER, I did order 50% sweetness and it was honestly a little too sweet for my taste (I'm not a huge fan of too much sugar), so I think I'll order 30% sweetness next time. :) As for customer service, the employees are really nice. I think there are a lot of new employees because it's a new school year. I saw the employee making my drink while being trained (no problem with me)! And my drink wasn't messed up this time, so far so good. :) *Also, every day there is a different type of special deal on their drinks so take advantage of that* Thanks for being on campus, Lollicup. :)

Crispy Combo + Rose Milk Tea is a great snack to help me study :D

Yay for Lollicup Fresh opening in Westwood! When I'm craving some boba drinks and some Asian food/snacks, this is the place to go. Environment: clean, well-maintained, and well-lit. There's soft jazz playing in the background which is nice; it allows me to enjoy my drink and study at the same time. Service: Friendly staff with welcoming smiles! Very polite since the staff member was working on another customer's drink and asked us to wait a second before she took our order. Drinks: Rose milk tea is a solid choice for me anytime and Lollicup helps satisfy my cravings. My boyfriend's Taro Typhoon is super bomb as it has pudding and boba for my chewing enjoyment (muahah totally took some). Food: Crispy Combo allows me to get three fried goodies- tofu, fries, and popcorn chicken! All were bomb and getting it in medium heat was the perfect amount of spice. I believe they offer three different spicy levels: mild, medium, and hot. Thanks Lollicup for giving me nourishment to continue studying for my pediatrics class!!!

Visit: Tuesday, January 16, 2018 I feel like some of the other reviews on this page are for the Lollicup location in Westwood Village? Because if the Ackerman location has snacks and dedicated seating, I've really been missing out lol. When I came this last time, there was no line. Despite this, they seemed totally slammed making drinks. I ordered a mango slush. It tasted fine, although I probably would've preferred it a bit sweeter. Just another Westside boba spot that is meh. Maybe I need to switch up my order. The three people working were so busy that I felt bad for them. Then again, the tiny space probably can't take any more people. Not optimal. Still, the convenient location means I'll be coming back, especially for their rotating daily specials.

A convenient place to get boba in UCLA. They have daily discount on different items. I like the taro pudding, cuz I don't see it very often in other boba places.

Also, sometimes in the afternoon, the milk teas aren't available (when it's too late to brew more tea). The matcha here is creamy and earthy yet sweet. Most other matcha places in West LA have watery matcha, so I'm glad the matcha here is better. They use lactose-free milk by default. The shop is small and there is no seating inside. There are just two large tables outside, so you'll likely need to sit around strangers. Service is good, but a bit slow because of how small the store is. Keep an eye out for good deals!! They often have special promos that are great value. During promos the lines can be long, but they're still worth it in my opinion.

So I finally got to try Le Phant on my 3rd visit attempt, and discovered that they reduced their menu by half.....which was really disappointing to see after waiting in line to order at the kiosk. Nothing posted at the door about the reduced menu. Found out later by looking online to see that one of the owners was on mat leave. Very small interior. It was a hot day so people were crowding inside and I did not get a chance to see look at their paper menu. Ended up paying $7 for an iced tea which wasn't worth it. It was fine, but very average.

The drinks were very good and exactly what you'd expect from a quality café. But the food presentation--wow! It completely exceeded my expectations. We ordered the avocado toast, the breakfast burrito, and the egg on brioche. Every dish was beautifully plated, garnished with edible flowers, and served with a fresh, delicious salad. I honestly wasn't expecting this level of presentation from a café. The portions were generous as well, leaving us completely satisfied. I also tried one of their pastries that reminded me of a cinnamon roll. It was enjoyable, though as a professional baker and pastry chef, I felt the pastries were the one area with room for improvement. In my opinion, they seemed to prioritize elegance and originality over achieving the best texture and flavor. Even so, they were still good, and I appreciated the creativity. Overall, this was an outstanding breakfast experience. Beautiful presentation, delicious food, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere. I would gladly return.

It didn't have a strong astringency but tasted noticeably grassy. I do tend to like sweeter drinks, so the matcha being on the bitter side only enhanced the grassy notes for me. The cold foam was also not as nutty/caramelized as I had hoped; the flavours got lost in the rest of the drink, as if it never existed in the first place. Came by in the last hour or two before closing on a Saturday and thankfully didn't have to wait in line. If I had to wait in line for the matcha, it would have definitely knocked down my rating. I'm sure there are other redeeming qualities of this shop as many customers had laptops set up to work. Maybe coffee was a better option :/

I arrived around 6:13 AM, 17 minutes before opening, after dropping a friend off nearby for her work at Trader Joe's in Westwood who starts @6am. Usually when I have an early work call, I go to Bluestone Café because of the ambiance I've experienced before as a former UCLA Student, who is now Recently Graduated Btw. I asked Angel if it was okay to sit and get set up while HE finished opening, I also offered to help if needed, and he was friendly and understanding, and I only set up 1 table because it was out of the kindest of my heart AND he was awesome. Not even 6 minutes passed by but, I could tell he's a solid, smile oriented customer service worker with a big heart. A few minutes later, at 6:22am Carol approached me and told me to leave, after I had just ordered because Angel was treating me with 5 star hospitality! The restaurant was not open yet, AND I completely understand that a business has opening hours, and I would have had no problem waiting outside if that had been communicated respectfully by the "owner." The issue was the way the owner of Bluestone Café, Carol, spoke to me as her claiming she's "the owner" because she knows people in the district? Ok carol. She raised her voice, treated me like I was a problem, and made me feel extremely unwelcome. I left upset because the situation did not need to be handled that way. Angel, however, remained kind and professional, and I want to make clear that this review is not about him. Angel provided excellent customer service. "I was a disturbance," allegedly though to Carol when I asked why she raised her voice at me like that. No where near was I about to counter her asking me to leave originally, just wanted breakfast before my call and I was willing to wait, Angel knows it... but Carol? Man, she's lucky I didn't give a WORSE review than this one. By the way, this is my 3rd yelp review in the last 5 years, so when I gave the option for her not to act so disrespectful, she turned it up 10x. Completely unacceptable to treat anyone that way, and trust me I know the homeless problem in LA is bad. Hello I was in burberrys and a UCLA sweatshirt with my Tumi Backpack labeled "CB" (my initials), and in my 1300 european shoes I bought also known as burberrys... anyways I confusingly and surprisingly stated "I mean should I leave a 1star review?" Because I was astonished that the owner was continually being so disrespectful, but Carol responded by saying "I'm just going to counter it don't worry, we'll handle it"... who's we Carol? Overall, I was very disappointed by how the owner handled the situation. A simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. Instead, I felt disrespected and embarrassed, and I will not be returning to this location because of CAROL. :) However, Angel, and your coworkers, YOU guys are AWESOME for real. Food is good as always.
