The restaurant is gorgeous, the food magnificent but the service is beyond compare. We took my 96 year old mother-in-law there for lunch, she had the mussels marinara which she loved. After lunch my husband asked Steven our waiter for a water bowl to wash her hands. Steven bought out 2 lemon halves and a warm wet towel and a warm dry towel and proceeded to gently wash and dry her hands. It was so touching it brought tears to our eyes. We will never forget the kindness he showed. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! read more

Highly esteemed restaurant, so I went to enjoy some pasta with my boss...the second we sat down, the environment was just extremely chaotic. To be a bartender is not just to serve and make drinks, but also to tend to the bar. The minute our bartender, Donovan, came over, he was very dismissive and short with us. It took forever even to get the menus given to us. There were about 4 people behind the bar, and a glass literally almost broke in our faces because there were maybe 3 hands reaching over each other at once. And it wasn't a tiny bar space either. None of that needed to occur for one, nor did it need to be taking place literally in our faces while we are trying to enjoy our drinks and get our food. I am not usually one to complain, but Donovan was running around like a chicken with its head cut off when another server/bartender, who was actually being intentional with what he was doing, asked us if we had placed an order, and tried to allow us to say that, he was being cut off and spoken over by Donovan multiple times. That was something I did not respect in any way. Being slow and intentional not only reflects in your drinks but in your tips as well. Managing the space of the bar is also important because everyone is affected by the energy in a room and the environment. Spoke to a manager about my opinions on the situation, especially as someone who is a bartender and understands the high stress behind the counter especially in a busy environment, and then got told "well he's my head bartender"...so why ask me to tell you what's going on then if you're just going to justify the situation with no rectification? If I weren't as hungry as I was, I would've walked right out. I will not be returning. For it being "slow season," that was one of the most hectic and uncontrolled bar environments I have ever been in. I will not be returning to this establishment. Oh, and to make matters worse, we had a ridiculous bill because Donovan failed to inform us about an upcharge from the happy hour menu for one of our drinks. Need to post a review from my wedding on 6/29/24. Having my wedding at Lombardi's was a dream! The venue was beautiful and I'm still getting compliments about the view and the food! Finding a venue that would take a minimum of 75 guests was so difficult believe or not, but Lombardi's was the one for us and we were able to get this minimum. Chet was in charge of our wedding and he was exceptional. We wanted things to be changed with the menu, wanted an earlier start time, and wanted to drop things off for the wedding earlier, and he was top notch! He made sure all our needs were met and more! My family has had many bereavement luncheons, as well as graduation luncheons and retirement parties at other restaurants, but when i called trying to make reservations for the friends of a young man who was recently killed in the line of duty, the staff at both restaurants advised, they could not accommodate the group. Went for Sunday Brunch seating at 1 with reservations. Was brought to bar at 1 to wait and saw there were at least 5 window view tables open but not cleared. Took 15 minutes after two requests to get a table set up. Upon entering separate buffet room we found it was without any staff. No one at omelet station , carving station. Eventually one person arrived and was in charge of .......... Let's say everything. Place was understaffed , slow , inexperienced , and no take charge leadership. Food was simply average, glasses were dirty. It's fortunate the window table was a great view or this was a 1 star experience . Very nice lunch this week . Four of us. I ordered the flounder sandwich. Very tasty. The flounder was flaky and fresh tasting. ( I can always tell). My husband thought the steak sandwich was a little tough. The other couple had chicken Parmesan and shrimp salad. They felt it was tasty. You get a nice crusty bread for the table and the service and view of the bay was wonderful. read more

Overall great ambience and very rustic feel inside but not a fan of the large table we were seated at though, and it was quite noisy due to the confined space. The main issues stem from inconsistent service during our dinner even when the place wasn't very busy. It took sometime to get our drinks roughly 20-30 minutes and even longer for the waitress to take our main entree orders. We were seated at 7:30 PM although it was a 7PM reservation and didn't eat til shortly after 9. For the high prices and feel of the place the food was VERY hit or miss which I'll outline below. For the apps everything came out fine except for the Fried Calamari which was incredibly bland and not great in terms of texture needed more seasoning and the sauce only helped so much which they initially forgot to include. The bread they included while a nice touch when less restaurants offer complimentary bread than ever was bland and not very fresh tasting. The steaks for the high price were mediocre in terms of flavor and the quality of the cut. Some that ordered the Chicken Francaise also reported it either coming out perfectly fine with generous cuts of chicken or the flavor being off and bland, overall penne pasta served with the dish could have been a larger size and better flavored. The one person that ordered the Chicken Marsala complained the consistency and taste were way off and the recipe likely was done incorrectly. One bright spot when it came to the food was the overall quality of the fish which our entire party was pleased with. To wrap this up. Food was more of a mixed bag than it should have been, prices high for the inconsistent quality and service also could have been more prompt when it came to the handling of the table such as keeping it clean of excess dishes and taking our entree orders sooner. Dessert was average at best and overall quite decent. Hopefully when we decide to return we can see some improvements. read more

Met some friends here for a last minute mid week get together. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The cocktails were nice but the rest of the meal was mediocre at best. The beet and goat cheese salad was swimming in dressing, making it not very enjoyable. The crab cake was okay. Definitely a hearty size crab cake but it had a decent amount of filler in it as well. The fish tacos were okay. All in all i would go back for the view and give it another try since the service was good, but the food was not great imo. read more

Got gift certificates last christmas, made reservations for the whole family of 22. They took reservations but when we went they waited until the end to tell us only two coupons would be taken per table. We has 11 tables together but they counted it as one because we were a group. They should have told us this when we were making the reservations. They have a nice big sign at the front table behind the flowers and it's in very small print on the gift certificates only two to a table. Should have taken all the $50 certificates but now we will never go there again and all our friends asked how it was. Now we know why no one goes there. The food and staff are great, the business policy is severely lacking. The original owners were great. read more

My wife and I have enjoyed this place over the years very much but had a recent unfortunate dining experience there that caused a seismic shift in our high regard for LOB. We had visited in late August with a friend from out of town who we had not seen since COVID. We were excited to share the Lombardi's experience with her and we had a perfect weekend Summer night to punctuate what we anticipated to be a stellar experience. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but stellar. We sat at the bar and was ignored by staff pretty much from the get go even though we were literally feet away from the several bartenders working. After many requests and much effort on our part, we were finally able to order and obtain our drinks and food thanks to a random waitress who sensed we were getting ignored by staff behind the bar (which was true). To compound this, we had a ringside seat to a constant and ugly stream of arguing and bickering from our bartenders (again, just feet away from us) who, when they were avoiding eye contact with us, were quarreling bitterly over orders, drinks, tickets, bills...you name it. While there, it occurred to me that our supposed servers were much more willing to quarrel with each other than engage with their customers. You get the idea....We were particularly sorry to have had to experience this with our out of town guest who we were excited to share our fondness for the restaurant with Very soon after this experience, I had written the owner/managers a letter outlining our experience and concerns in the hope that we might alert the supervisory staff about this issue and how it reflected poorly on the restaurant. This letter was written over a month ago and no reply has been forthcoming which we took as a sign that our concerns as customers counted for nothing. My wife and I have our favorite restaurants and if you frequent a place enough year after year it is certainly possible to have an outlier of a bad experience at some point. Very sorry and sad to say this experience seemed more like an implosion of good will that has likely permanently soured us on this place. read more

We went for lunch this Sunday. Three people $230 with tip. The place is beautiful. The service is awesome. The food is terrible. We had clams casino which were 6 tiny clams, beautifully presented, terribly overcooked, missing butter garlic and bacon. The stuffed sole had no soul and was leathery. The chicken bruschetta was overcooked and dry millions of diced tomatoes with zero flavor served with balsamic and olive oil unmixed in a tiny terrine. Pasta was great. They were 1 for 3 with the entrees. Dessert was the Napoleon, nothing like it used to be at Lombardis on the sound. Coffee was even bad. This place will go the same route as Lombardis on the sound and Louis that it replaced in Patchogue. read more

It was our first visit to Lombardi's on the Bay. We went for the outdoor dining. They told us we had a 45 minute wait so we went outside by the water for cocktails which was amazing except for the tables which need to be changed every table is beyond repair & out dated. They swayed so much the waiters need fancy napkins to control them. The service was wonderful & the food was absolutely amazing. I had a Branzino which was perfectly seasoned & cooked it comes with a nice size salad & veggies. Our Other recommendations of food which we enjoyed was the Crab Cakes,Salmon & Steak and the side order of garlic mashed. Don't forget the huge delicious cheesecake. My only recommendation to Lombardi is it's time for new outdoor furniture. read more

My husband and I were really looking forward to getting together with our BBF's. We were all celebrating Valentines day on sat. Although we had a wonderful time with our best friends we were very disappointed with the service. It was a mistake to sit at the bar. The two bartenders were overwhelmed and very forgetful. We had to ask for plates, silverware, napkins, water, etc. To top it off the cocktails were not made well. I am pointing this out so management takes notice and has more than 2 bartenders when its busy. Giving 3 stars for the food, beautiful restaurant and gorgeous sunset only. We ordered Mac and Cheese, Baked Artichokes, Chicken and Beef Meatballs in addition complementary bread and oil. Dessert was Irish Coffee, Tartufo, Chocolate Fudge Cake and Sambuca. Everything was delicious and served perfect temperature. The sunset was gorgeous and we love coming in the summer to sit outside by the bay. We will return again and hopefully service will improve. Greatly disappointed. Part of a large group that ordered a variety of plates. The Clams Oreganata were truthfully quarter sized clams with minimal clam meat or bread crumbs. The Pork Osso Bucco was undercooked and virtually tasteless. Pan seared scallops definitely were not pan seared. I don't send food back but was on the verge only avoiding to not embarrass the host. This was our first time during Covid dining out, and I have to say, Lombardi's on the Bay was the perfect place to start again! Our initial reason for choosing this place was because it was our wedding night, and we wanted someplace elegant, close to home, and a venue that was opened on Labor Day. Plus, they were also able to accommodate a party of eight. So, they hit the nail on all marks! When we first arrived, we were pleasantly greeted and congratulated the minute we'd stepped through the entrance. Not to mention, the staff were all in masks and the tables were spaced apart, so we felt very safe and relaxed from the start. We were promptly seated, and I was delighted by the fact that we were placed at the (in my opinion) best table in the house! Or perhaps, out of the house as we were outside, overlooking the bay, which made for the most perfect atmosphere. We had Alejandro as our waiter, and he had the right balance of attentiveness. He was friendly, read us all the specials, and was responsive towards our needs. We got to enjoy every course without feeling rushed out, which brings me to the food... They did not skimp on portions! I shared a calamari appetizer with a friend, and I'm glad I did or my entire main course would have went home with me! The calamari was nicely breaded, not greasy, and came with a lovely marinara sauce for dipping. Between my friend and I, we had that plate nicely cleaned up before our dinners arrived. For the main course, I chose the stuffed filet of sole with crabmeat stuffing. As a lover of seafood, I knew I made the right choice! The fish was cooked beautifully and not overdone, as sometimes fish can be. The stuffing inside was very flavorful, as well. And the olive oil sauce was proportionally added without drowning out the fish. They even included a side of pasta with red sauce, which I took home alongside my leftovers for the next day. My hubby had the Steak and fries, which not only looked delicious, but after tasting a bite of his, I can attest to it tasting as good as it looked! We skipped dessert as we were all full, but they made a really good Irish coffee which finished off the meal, nicely. My hub finished his off with a regular coffee and a Brandy snifter of Grand Marnier. A festive evening was had by all, with photos by the water, and also with everyone being happy with their meals. I hate to leave bad or mediocre reviews, but I have to in this case and it's a shame because this used to be a favorite. First of all, we had a reservation and were not seated for about 35 minutes after. Okay, I know places have staffing issues right now so we just sat at the bar and enjoyed a drink while we waited. When we were finally seated, we were right along the wall and on the other side of said wall there was a party of some kind with ear-splitting music. My husband and I had to practically scream at each other to be heard. Not exactly relaxing, but a beautiful view of the Bay. We ordered a clams oreganata appetizer, I got veal parm and he got the pork chop special. I love clams oreganata, and the best part is scooping the delicious sauce onto the clams before you eat them. Not hear... the sauce was literally water with what looked like basil and a bit of oil in it. So unappetizing. The veal parm suffered from a similar problem... very watery sauce. What happened here?? The porkchop special including the side of potatoes alla Lombardi was actually very good, but not worth the rest of the experience. We started with appetizers: Baked Clams, very good, a whole clam, with perfectly broiled bread crumbs on top. Baby Lamb Chops, excellent, perfectly medium well, also with a nice bread crumb coating. Grilled Octopus, delicious, tender. I thought it would be a full tentacle, but it came out as a salad, which was fine, the capers, red onions and roasted red peppers gave it nice flavor. For the Main Course: A decent sized Veal Chop stuffed with provolone and prosciutto - my husband said it was excellent!!! Again, a good bread crumb coating on the outside, with a mushroom/onion gravy on top. As a side, he had the macaroni and cheese, that he loved!! It was creamy, cheesy and buttery. I had the Filet stuffed with crab meat. This was a little disappointing. 2 small filets, hardly stuffed, fairly bland and on the dry side. It was missing something. Served with rigatoni in the same sauce, that basically tasted like white wine (that was my choice, I could have had a red sauce.) An overall very good experience. read more
