Went into this Uptown New Westminster location of 'London Drugs' recently. Arrived at about 9 am (the store opens at 8 am) - I had some shopping 'thoughts' within two departments in mind. First stop -- to cosmetics - seeking a particular body lotion for my lady. Success - found it, took it over to the nearest available service counter, and paid for it. Second stop -- to computer sales & service - seeking computer-related 'looks, info, and help' at some specific products for myself, and daughter. I looked around, and being the only customer within the department at the time, after a while, with no offer of any help coming my way, thought I was being ignored. I eventually decided to walk over and stand almost directly in front of the lone salesperson there at the time. Not sure why, but it seemed his helping me, was very secondary to whatever it was he was doing at the time. His lack of interest, was definitely not a good start to any shopping I had in mind!! I asked about one item, and received some help. But beyond that, little of any interest from him, in the interest / enquiries I was expressing re: other computer stuff being considered. I like shopping at London Drugs. It is not terribly big here but the selection is good enough for my needs. There is finally a section on microwaves here though it is not in the main kitchen ware area. The microwaves are near the photo lab and electronics accessories area. There is also a small area for facial and massage treatments though I am not sure how relaxing that can be. I like checking out the middle section to see the seasonal items available. Some sale items are also here. The photo lab is good. I have ordered photo book online and picked up the order the next day. The quality is there. The staff here is also friendly and cheery, making the shopping experience a pleasant one. Oh, and you can also top up your compass card here. I saw a machine by the cashier counters. read more

I wandered around for quite awhile trying to find the product I was looking for and for staff who could help me find it. One referred me to another area of the store, but then the search began again. After searching the entire section with no luck, I finally found a staff member. She seemed extremely put out to have to help me. Even more so when I had a question about the product. Heaven forbid, one ask questions! I wonder if she realizes she is actually paid to help people? Or at least to try. If I have a raging nerd-on this is where I go for my fix! I really like to geek it out in their computer department but at the same time I can pick up some deodorant so I have the not so nerd smell. Where else can you buy an iPad, deodorant, toaster oven and living room stools in the same place? Sure on any given shopping trip I'm not looking for all of these items at once but I appreciate you can buy them at the same place. Want more convincing? Even though they are a big business, i like knowing that this place started here in the lower mainland and is 100% Canadian. In fact if I see something I like at best buy or future shop I'll go out of my way to get it here if I can. They will price match and their staff are friendly and helpful. My doctor sent in a request for my medication on Wednesday, I showed up the following Tuesday. After waiting patiently in line for 20 minutes I finally got to the till. She couldn't find it so she asked me when it was sent in. I told her and she went to look in the inbox. She came back to ask if I could wait 60 minutes? So, it's been there for 6 days and they couldn't get it done, what will change in the next hour? The sad part is that I need medication to live and I have to spend a big chunk of that time in a line waiting to get my next set of pills. I tried. I really did. Went looking for a small video recorder for work (go-pro-ish but needed sound/microphone capability). Took nearly 10 minutes to get noticed by sales guy (only one, on the computer) who called someone from photos to help. Photo-guy told me he didn't know if he could help me. I chose 2 products - one on sale, the other go-pro style to look at. The on-sale version didn't have a box or specs, so I asked the guy to look it up on his phone. Couldn't find it. He also didn't know where the box was. He also couldn't explain the information on the go-pro box to tell me if it had a microphone. We took both products over to the guy-on-the-computer (whose nametag said photo/electronic specialist) who eventually found the specs, and read something about sound, but didn't say if a mic was included. I asked again to see the box. Computer-guy told me to wait 15-20 minutes to see if he could find it. Really?? I confirmed 15-20 minutes to find the box for this product? When all the other products are stacked behind the counter? He said yes and headed for the store room. I told him not to bother. I'd already experienced 1. not knowing the product, 2. not knowing how to learn about the product, 3. not knowing how to understand the specs of the product. I was not about to wait 15 minutes to find out that they also couldn't find the product. Off to Walmart, I guess. read more

My objective was to find 3 shower curtains clear, which shouldn't be any problem,, you would think. Let me tell you it can be a problem!!! First store at Lougheed mall had one only. The very nice manager said he could order 2 more and call us. Since the store wasn't the closest to us we ( my wife and I) thought we would at the managers suggestion simply go to the store and order two. My wife did that since only 1 was on shelf. So she ordered 2 from a lady one of two at customer service. This was Friday and the one lady said she would and they should be in probably Monday. She wrote product # and detail of product. (Didn't take my wife's cel number or name). Now it's Monday and my wife calls the store to see if 2 have arrived. None of the numbers on the back of the one package we had bought from them earlier were understandable or useful to the clerk on the phone! Frustrating that! Finally my wife terminated the call and asked me if I could swing by and see if two had arrived. I get to the store and since I had the earlier purchased package I went to the section for the item. One was on shelf. Not two, so I thought they must have 2 coming in for us as she had ordered/. I went to Maggie at Customer service. Asked about my wife's order. She said "was she called that they were in? ". I told he no that the two clerks she had spoken to had taken down the product numbers and would see that they would be ordered, but had not taken my wife's name or number. The clerk said we would wait for a call that the products were in, and as she checked the computer for orders now tells me one was on order. I said, "not two?" No she says, just one. There's one shelf! I say, what if someone came and purchased that one? That would mean we wouldn't have two as we ordered. This did not make any sense since we wanted 2 at one purchase and she seemed to think this was okay that we would have to make an extra trip. Isn't customer service is there for the customer to make it as convenient as possible for the customer? This was not a good experience!! I'm trying to buy multiples of one skew and they didn't make our purchase easy! Poor Performance LONDON DRUGS. Count me in among the legions of fans for London Drugs. Where else could I go in to buy vitamin pills, shampoo, magazines, a toaster oven, printer paper, and DVDs all in one go? Not that I've ever done this exact shopping list, but you get the idea. They have a whole lot of what I need. In their beauty products/toiletries section, they also carry cool organic and eco-friendly products such as Burts Bees lip balms and lotions and Avalon Organics hair care. The food aisles are great too, with a wide selection of junk foods and good foods that are frequently cheaper than at the grocery store. London Drugs is, as the English say, genius. read more

This place can be good or bad depending on how crazy I get. But it does have more variety and better prices than Shoppers. It is like a mini department store. Sometimes there is trouble in the hallway leading to Sav on foods. Other than that: the rude guy doesn't work there anymore, so that let's me out. I am a crazy fan of London Drugs. I go in for one item and come out with 20 and I know I am not the only one that does that LOL. It's almost like IKEA to me. Go in and spend hours wandering up and down the aisles, just making sure there isn't anything you MIGHT need in the next aisle. They have a wonderful selection of beauty products (organic and eco friendly), smell pretties (perfume), books and magazines, cards, electronics and appliances. When it comes to the pharmacy at this location, it's great and usually has everything I need. I also like that I can order a refill online and pick it up the next day. This is NOT the London Drugs of years past. Recently, on three separate occasions, I experienced HUGE lineups at the till. Yes, singular. The lineup was from Till 2, through the centre aisle ... probably 20 people. Another customer and I searched out BOTH the Manager and Assistant Manager ... BOTH gave us silly stories about being short of staff (there were plenty of staff in the aisles). Anyways, why aren't either of the managers chipping in and opening a till themselves?!?!?!?! Will never return. I went to just get a prescription refilled and the guy tells me I'm early by 20 days. So checking my meds I'm not missing 20 doses but 40. He insists they didn't short me but there's no possible way they could be missing otherwise. By the date on the bottle I had only taken 50 pills (1 a day)...if I'm missing 40 pills then why is my prescription up for refill in 20 days..? Something isn't right with the math but it was repeatedly implied that I was dishonest or illegally distributing my prescription. This isn't the first time this happened to me and family members as well! It's expensive medication and they ripped me off and then essentially called ME an addict. Unbelievably unprofessional and horrible thing to do! They had me in tears and accused me in front of others, that is NOT okay! Count your prescriptions, imagine the money they're making off people thinking they've misplaced it or that are too scared of being called an addict that they don't speak up! Unacceptable! read more

Great prices and sale items. You can basically get everything you might need here, and a wonderful seasonal selection of merchandise. Lots of small appliances to choose from, and we got a great deal on a radio/cd player last week for less than $30. SCORE! Friendly and personable staff too. Centrally located uptown. This London Drugs drugstore is a disappointment. I Felt extremely ill after consuming medication from the pharmacy. The sick feelings occurred 100% of the time. I experienced odd side effects that were different then in the past 5 years of taking the same medication. For example an hour after I consumed their medication I would sweat profusely. The most sever side effect experience is after laying down for 3 hours a extremely painful acid reflex occurs, which leads to puking. Yet alone after just a couple days skin defection occurred all over my face and body decreasing complexion daily. read more

Located inside the Royal center mall in New West this London Drugs is just like any other London Drugs with the exception that my Cashier actually smiled at me. I came here to buy some healthy snacks to take on the plane with me on my trip to Europe. LD is the only place that I know of to get Kale Chips outside health food stores (pricey to). I am SHOCKED that this store currently has a 4 star rating! I have never ever been to this store without having to wait at least 7+ mins in line to pay the cashier. They have maybe 6 tills available , and only 2 are ever actually in use. Perhaps one of the many, many management types (in the white and or blue button down shirts) who endlessly race around...doing....??? I'm not sure exactly what...but they always seem to be in a hurry...but I digress. Perhaps one of those folk could hurriedly jump in and man a till when needed?! Nah. Too busy, I guess. Then there is the woefully badly staffed pharmacy.... Six, sometimes seven pharmacists and their 'assistants' milling about back there...seemingly trained to avoid eye contact with the lowly customer. What they are actually doing behooves me, because prescriptions take 50 mins + every. Single. Time. Some of the staff back there are at least friendly, and one or two are actually exceedingly efficient. ...but visibly exasperated by the appalling INefficiency of their coworkers. If you have all the time in the world, enjoy shopping here. My advice, however, is head up the street a block or two and give your hard earned dollars to SD Mart. read more

This store is a fantastic place to shop. I have been returning here for my day to day shopping and medication for the past 2 years. Especially the pharmacy staff is nice. I've been a big fan for years. I was sad that they moved farther from my home, but I still go out of my way. I don't know how they manage it, but they seem to have everything I need (and then some) [even the Fruit & Nut Brookside chocolates that others don't seem to stock). I have never experienced a stock out on sale items. The staff are usually knowledgeable and helpful if I need info or advice on a product. Returns are easy. My sister moved to Ontario and really misses London Drugs. I wanted to buy shares, but they are private. Selection, good value prices, good quality products, good service.
